TynTyn Stand? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Accessories

Hi, this is my first post! I have had a pda2k for a year now,and have been extremely happy with it, but now I am considering on purchasing a Tyntyn.
Is the a stand for the tyntyn that one can use to elevate the unit while reading/writing with the keyboard out?Or also use it whith a bluetooth virtual keyboard (for extended typing time..)
Cheers

anybody have an idea? the crade would do...but it doesn't help when you want to use the jasjam's keyboard

expansys is supposed to be coming out with a cradle/charger with a spare battery slot...eventually

hmmm... biit will it work in landscape mode with the keyboard open?

no, not in its current design...

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/11399.htm
Is this what your after?

It's more like this
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/11237.htm
but for a desk, it's a support for the Tytyn with the keyboard out that raises and gives the phone a slight inclination(angle) so that you can type without looking downwards...
Guys thanks for bieng patient it turned out to be more diffucult to explain than I first thought... so once again thanx!

I think this is what you are looking for...

Hi, yes the Brodit table stand coupled with the Brodit passive holder 848691 allows the keyboard to be open and will sit happily as the most designer looking device holder availabble, it looks like a trophy! Plus you can then dock your usb cable to sync/chrage whilst its in the holder fixed to the tablestand. Hope that helps,
bryson

YES!!! there you go!! this is perfect! It really does the trick, thanks!!

Virtual Keyboard (VKB). Any Thoughts?

Has anyone used this Vitrual Keyboard (VKB) thing?
A friend of mine said he saw someone on the train using it and appeared to work rather well.
Has anyone here been in contact with it?

Ben
I have one of these - bought from Expansys. It works surprisingly well, but there are a few caveats:
You have to learn a new typing style - index fingers only, with the rest in a fist and thumbs tucked in - otherwise you get keystrokes you didn't expect.
It's not wireless, and the cable plugs into the base of the XDA2. With no stand and no landscape mode, this makes it very difficult see what you're typing.
It should ship with a USB cable to support charging & data, instead of needing a power brick. Given the ubiquity of USB ports on pretty much EVERYTHING, this is unforgivable.
All that said, it's still way cool - add it to the Xmas list...
Nice.
In this world of pure gadgetry, there is no room for those inferior beings without a VKB, so methinks I'll have to buy one.
Bosh.

Desktop Cradle

I had been looking for a simple desktop cradle for a while and read reports on badly fitting ones and others that were good but expensive, and hrizontal ones that I didn't like, but I finally found a new one that suits my needs perfectly and is very inexppensive.
I found it a Techmate Australia http://www.techmate.com.au/ only $35.au, good quality, mini USB for power in (no adapter supplied), tethered USB cable for sync, fits nicely and is easy to drop in and out.
Made by JMB accessoreis.
Dear esseff,
Could you provide me a link to a horizontal desktop cradle (as I understand you found it at Internet).
I really like horizontal cradle but I cannot find no one like this for Hermes (only for Wizard).

Cheep desktop "cradle"
I've been using a very inexpensive desktop cradle ever since I got my 8525.
It's a $.99 tripod from Microcenter. The little rubber feet hold the lower edge of the phone and the angle is good.
I've attached a few pictures.
I got this idea from http://www.aximsite.com when I had my Dell Axim x50v.
Thanks a lot for the report Esseff, I've just bought one - good to have a first hand opinion, especially from a fellow Aussie .

Can't wait till mine arrives - its the only thing that I've hated about this device, not having a proper cradle.
Please forgive my ignorance on the the model issue.
Will the Cingular 8525 (Hermes 100) work with this dock?
Thank you
Is there one available that will charge a spare battery as well?

I bought this same cradle from ebay for under 20USD and shipped from hong kong, and this thing WAS a piece of junk, it fit my phone well, but after a few uses the usb plug started falling into the cradle and it was no longer making a connection. I cracked the case only to find it being held in place by glue... I found that the ground connection wasnt very good, so i re-soldered the ground, put the plug back in place, and used massive amounts of hot glue to hold this thing in place. After doing that this thing now works like a charm. I would suggest to anyone that purchases this thing to immediately crack open the case and dump alot of hot glue inside to keep this from happening!
OOOOHHHH MYYYYYY GAAAAAWWWWDDDDD
I just received my cradle from MobilePlanet.
IT IS FRACKIN AWESOME PEOPLE. Did you hear me. I SAID FRACKIN AWESOME! (Yes I watch Farscape what of it?)
$39.00 USD. Had to wait for a while 2 to 3 weeks...... BUT (there's always a big BUTT but this one is GOOHHHDDDDD!)
This CRADLE KICKS SERIOUS ARSE! ARSE! ARSE I TELL YA! it charges AND syncs the device AND.........
the second battery from the USB. It also has a power cord port.
But if you are a road warrior and I'm about to go back out on the road again...fly out Monday return fly in on Thursday - and you have an extra battery you'll need this cradle. It also fits the funky honkin 2400 batteries. (I assume that is what the extra cut out space is for though I sport a 1500 and an OEM so I can't say for sure.)
Fits my device like a glove. Looks sharp. Feels good. WELL MADE.
IT IS SWEET AS HAYLE! Run don't walk. Are you runnin yet! (It is worth the wait. Did I mention that?)
I wanna buy another just in case I loose this one. or to have one down stairs and one in the office. Maybe I'll buy 2 more to have one in the briefcase, one down stairs and one in the office.
Yes that's it. I'm going to the site to get mine before ya'll gobble them up.

Here you go. I already placed my order for 2 more. I think I'm gonna stick with the Hermes for a while...at least the next 6 to 8 months.

Amazing, I finally found out this was available a few days ago then I read this thread...well, as soon as someone picks up the cradle and battery for that horrible 750v I tried to use then I'll order this cradle. I don't really see the point in getting the ones that don't charge an extra battery though...isn't that the whole point?

But some only charge the device extra battery when you use the wall charger. If you use USB then it only charges the device.
The MobilePlanet one charges both the device and extra battery on USB as well as the wall charger. That is what makes it worth the cost alone...not to mention the thing is pretty well made.
Anyone in the UK managed to find a decent, reasonably priced cradle?
I've seen quite a few but these have a USB plug only, so if you want to charge the handset, you need the PC to be on.
What I'm after is a charger with a USB connection and a mains connection so you can charge the Hermes without the PC being on.
Hermes Cradle
Have you seen this one? It has an extra battery charger and both USB/mains connections.

in car holder

hi, can you tell me , witch car holder is the best?
I need passive - non charging kit.
Brodit every time. I've just ordered my third, the previous two were for a Nokia E51 and HTC Touch HD. I've just upgraded to the HTC Touch Pro II hence the new order.
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/
I agree - although they don't make an attachment for the dash of my new car.
Gutted - might sell it lol
Wow, nice. They make one for my Subaru Forester.
The best i know is Brodit. If u change youre Phone, u can keep the "proClip" and u´ve only to change the holder for ure Phone.
Online bye on brodit:
29,99€ = 43$
Brodit is one of the best!
I use magnetic car holder. It requires some effort before it works properly but once it's done - I wouldn't switch it for anything else.

Has anybody seen a Sprint compatible version with the 3.5mm jack?

Samsung USB keyboard for their UMPCs

I have several Q1Us from when UMPCs were being produced and one of the accessories that i still get use from is the very slim usb keyboard that was meant to go into the portfolio case for these units.
I decided to try plugging it into the USB OTG adapter and found it works great! I especially like that when i have to resort to a physical keyboard, the trackpoint makes it so i can control the cursor without lifting my hands from the keys like i would need to control a mouse or touch the screen.
I have not been able to find a wireless keyboard skinnier than this thing with the added bonus of a built-in pointer. The model number is Samsung AA-SK0TKBD/US.
Any ideas on where to buy one of these?

Best bet will be eBay
yeah, i looked around and all the sources that sold them before say unavailable w/ no mention of stock replenishment (no surprise since it's so old now). Acid123 is right that you'll see them pop up on eBay every once in a while. When i stopped using my Q1U as much I'd still carry that keyboard around because it's so damn useful and slim.
Somebody would make some money if they just made a slim keyboard that had the same format w/ the pointing nub in the middle (i don't care if usb/bt). Would be nice if there was also the Android specific softkeys built-in like back/home/menu/search.
This one is worth mentioning. Mine has been sleeping for a while in a "PC reparing kit".
The original pouch can be useful -even if you own a larger tab- for many purposes, including travelling, and in a "crossed legs sofa position.
Customizing the original umpc craddle to make it less thick should be easy.
The KB is good but sometimes misses keys typing too fast. Hold a letter and it will display accentuation options depending on your layout.
The mini mouse is ok but can't be used for drawing for ex. Mine tends to change direction if i bend it too much. By reflex I still use the tabs touchscreen depending the situation.
Num/caps lock lits. Fn/volume+,-,mute works. copy/paste is a pleasure ctrl/c, v or x works. Esc key acts as "escape, for ex it can show off the screen KB.
USB connection won't draw battery as bluetooth so you won't bother keeping it conneted all day long on your desk.
Hey we found the same use for these! I also used it to fill in as a super portable kb/mouse combo in my pc repair kit.
Regrettably, I never picked up the portfolio case when I was using the Q1U. I notice you still have your trackpoint! Mine fell off and got lost at some point so i transferred the blue one that's currently on mine from another laptop.

Cheap DeX dock alternative

Hi,
Just wanted to let you guys know about this dock that I picked up from aliexpress.
The build quality is awesome, it is all metal. Feels really solid and it works in the same way the the actual DeX stations do.
I've attached a couple of images of the product and one of my review.
The current cost is USD $13.71 GBP £10.26 and that includes postage from China, mine turned up in a week and a half, really happy with it.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/EAS...893.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6d9f4c4d3EQZa8
It works in the same way as the original DeX does, you cannot use your screen as a trackpad and must connect a wireless/usb mouse and keyboard. I haven't tried it with a USB hub yet but I imagine it would work as it is powered via your USB-C phone charger. Using my GS9 original charger it allows passthrough fast charging whilst using the dock. You can also use it for standard screen mirroring rather than DeX mode.
With the experimental labs mode enabled (in DeX settings, which appears when connected) to allow you to scale most windows up to full screen. The only one I have found which doesn't go fullscreen is netflix. Things like PUBG mobile (only opened app to see if it works, you would need an app to remap keyboard keys to play a match), Youtube, Terrarium TV etc all work fine. The option for sound output via phone/connected hdmi device works.
If you have any questions or need me to try something out on it for you, please let me know.
There are some more expensive versions with more USB ports and 3.5mm audio out - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/EAS...-9e13-2ca171f3bfbb,scm-url:1007.13339.90158.0 - These are £29.91 (USD $39.98)
Nice. Do you need to remove the phone from the case or is the usb-c connector long enough? Just curious.

I did have to remove it from the case. I am using the Caseology Parallax which isn't overly thick (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Caseology-...-2&keywords=caseology+parallax+galaxy+s9&th=1 / https://www.caseologycases.com/products/galaxy-s9-parallax-case).
I don't see it as too much of an inconvenience, as when you are using the dock it is likely that you won't be leaving your desk/living/wherever for a while.
Thanks, I will keep it in mind. I bought one off Amazon that had a sale that I found on Slickdeals. It's the XF Times one and it was on sale for $8 so I took a gamble on it. It's working well at the moment but if it breaks, I will look at the one you posted. I already saved it to my Favorites.

Ah, that looks similar actually. I've never really looked on Amazon for them. I wasn't really looking to buy this one, I was just browsing Aliexpress and decided to actually order something on there rather than just browsing for ages and deciding against it. I picked up a couple of cases and watch straps too, it's too easy to buy things when they are so cheap!
My cheap DeX dock works fine
Only problem is, it doesn't charge the phone. The dock requires USB power also. Without power, it just mirrors the phone screen. So I just charge the phone in the morning and it would go all day on DeX if I wanted. However, I usually get up and go to meetings and such, so I end up taking the S9 with me. When I get back, I will typically top off the charge again before plugging back into DeX. I have a DeX setup at work with monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and I also have one at home. I just take the little dock with me and keep it in my backpack. They are so cheap, I really should just buy another one to keep one at both places.
If I don't plug in a mouse, I can use the phone as a touchpad. If I do plug in a mouse, the touchpad functionality doesn't work. Which is fine; just an observation.

Hi,
I hadn't even tried it without the wireless keyboard attached as I foolishly assumed it wouldn't work with this dock. I've just tried it and thanks for the tip it works great as a touchpad!
I just carry a spare USB-C lead with me when I need it, it even manages to fast charge.
One thing I will note is that the connection has become a bit hit and miss on this, I don't know whether that is build quality or because the dock USB-C connector has taken a knock when I have been carrying it around. I still think that I can't really complain for what it cost me.
Yeah, I figured the touchpad function wouldn't work because it is not a Samsung dock. But it still does if you don't use any other input devices.
Just to clarify this dock puts the S9 into the actual DEX mode, not some sort of "similar" app?

I got Goodock one, overall it worked pretty good but it does randomly disconnect from time to time (very quickly, it doesn't even leave DeX mode). I am using a HDMI to VGA adapter in my setup, I doubt it is the reason for disconnects but you never know.

Honestly maybe once a week. Hard to break the habit of just firing up a laptop.
Can this work with a non Samsung Android?
Is there/ shouldnt there be a generic/ stock Android alternative for the same?
This is nice but better connect a computer from other room to tv and bring cable through the wall for wireless mouse too there if it's for home.
I recommend this.
