Weather resistant Blue Angel Case - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Accessories

I'm looking to bring my Blue Angel out on the ski slopes this winter and I'd really hate to damage it with condensation. I plan to keep it in an inner pocket of my coat and I'll be using a wired headset with it. I already have a 2600 Otterbox. But it's huge and doesn't have a way to get headphone cables out, something slimmer with a means to get a headphone cable out would be best. Honestly, I'm considering using a zippered zip lock bag. Anyone have a better recomendation?

I went sying with my BA last year and opted not to use it again, the cold drained the battery by midday.

same problem here
im going to get a simple plastic hermetic box (like the one wich you use to store food), get headphones wire outside and put it into my backpack... im snowboarding and it's way easier to damage your phone cause you can hit the ground with your chest also...

Very important everyone please responde

How does everyone keep from loosing there stylus pen, mine keeps falling out my antenna
when i was still using an xda1 i bought a 3-piece stylus set for the unit. the stylus is made of plastic similar to those used by palm pilots. the ones i used were "slightly" fatter and thus didn't fall or slip off even when they were not pushed all the way in.
i'm still using the same sets of stylus for my xda2; aside from them being lighter they don't discolor or anything unlike the ones which come with the units.
cheers
Yea on the weekends I am a painter and i lay down custom paint jobs for show cars and what not and i was thinking if i layerd some paint on the phone it would tighten up the fit. I have only had my phone a few days and i have last 2 allready haha.
I will post photos of the paint work when i am done. I am going with a camelon green\silver\gold with some pear ghost desighn. not sure what i am goign to use for a design if yall have any ideas let me know. NO flames i am sick of flames. worst comes to worst i just bought some chrome paint that i have not used and ill just get rid of the ghost and put on that in the design of some lightniing bolts coming down it. I prolly wont have this phone long and hoping maybe a 100 dollar paint job will help it sell for lil more then i paied for it hehe.

Car dock - Best way to keep it from falling off the windshield???

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really do have this problem...
Not sure if it is because of Colorado extreme (either too freakin' hot or cold) weather, but my car dock suction doesn't stay on very long. With proper cleaning of the windshield and suction cup, it would stay for a week or so. If it's too hot (90s), the suction stays on less than 12 hrs.
Any good ideas to keep that sucker (literally) on more permanently? Almost tempted to drill the SOB into a pillar or something. LOL!

Possibly try denture grip (doubt I spelled it right) that is normally used for holding false teeth in, its not expensive and just put a little around the cup and it should stay firm in hot/cold dry/wet conditions, iv seen it work like a dream before
I replace the suction cup with the bag mount from my garmin gps. I use in on my dashboard and can easily stash it to keep it out of view. The ball socket fit both my og droid and my x2 mobile mount.
well mine has been up for a month straight, but I imagine it will be falling off come winter and some more drastic temperature changes.
I also suggest one of these

I got a rosewill one for the wife's car and it works great

Did you buy the Verizon one? If you did, it should have come with a sticky pad thing that you can stick to your dash like above the clock in a flat area then suction cup onto that. That's how I have mine set up and it is rock solid, never falls off. I have a Jeep though so there is a nice flat surface to put it on
Thanks everyone. I personally don't like it on my dash, and would like it on my windshield. I'll try the Super Poligrip to see if that works.
I already tried Liquid Nails (clear), and it does a good job for about a month, but definitely Colorado's extreme temp changes wins...
In the extreme florida temps mine was dropping twice a day and once @ night when it cooled down. I found that a generous rub down with ISO alcohol drying the windshield and leaving the cup a bit damp has gotten me more then a month so far.. learned this trick from a garmin user.
twist the thing around until it sits on the dashboard while suction cupped to the window. It's the ONLY way I can get mine to stay on anything, granted I travel for a living, so mine sees many different rental cars and many different climates.
smear a dab of hand sanitizer on cup, you can find that crap everywhere, and it's basically isopropyl alcohol gel.
if ya don't like that method, buy a bracketron bracket for your specific vehicle and just mount it to that.
3m "duallock" velcro also works VERY well, but it's pretty permanent.
Look at ProClipUSA.com. They have custom mounts for your vehicle.
Having been a Pro car audio/video installer for a few years, Proclip's product line is very well engineered looking stuff.

Anyone using the Touchstone mod to wirelessly charge SGS3 ? (how to loose buldge?)

Curious if anyone is using the Palm Touchstone wireless charging mod for the SGS3. I got everything for a Palm Pre, touchstone, cable, etc.. Did the mod which was stupid easy... but the buldge of the back cover is driving me nuts. I have no idea how to make it more flush again. There is ZERO chance of putting an case on here now, for 1 it seems like the charging signal wouldn't be strong enough... and the buldge would absolutely prevent it.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW: I used super thin 24 gauge wire out of a cable (like a usb cable/printer cable) to go from the palm pre charging pads to the pins of the sgs3.
I used the palm pixi's back for my mid. It is thinner that the pre's so there is less bulge.
Edit: I also used copper foil/tape to make my connections. I don't know if that would reduce bulge or not though.

I read somewhere the pixi back was thinner but I read that after I ordered the pre back. I didn't have any copper foil tape so I used wire from a usb cable, and if I did use foil tape it seems like I would need something to push down into the phone connectors as they seem a tiny bit recessed.
Don't get me wrong, everything works, and charging works, but the bulge is noticeable and there is no way I could use a case back now. Glad I got the whole body Zagg invisible shield.
How did you address the phone connectors being deep inside? What did you use to make your foil tape touch the leads in the phone? I just kind of pushed the wires in there and used a little rape to prevent shorts.

On the Sprint model there is no sim card. If you cut a square out of the internal cover to the right of the microSD card you have a nice little space to hide the circuit board that causes the buldge. I just posted a question- where to buy the internal plastic cover? I don't want to risk screwing up my original.. BTW I used copper tape. On the pixie back I soldered the tape to the leads. For the phone connection I cut the tape too long and rolled it up to the spot it needed to be to make contact with the S3 contacts.
I have the touchstone and palm charging back. Is it possible to do this mod without soldiering the GS3?
Roll the tape up...:fingers-crossed: Sometimes I hate myself, I always think of the hardest way to do something.... Of course - why not roll the tape into a little ball. DUH!
I think I could probably get the bulge down a little, but I'm not sure it would make a lot of difference... I guess I could always just buy a pixi back and try again? or just wait for Sept and get the samsung kit.
I had read that the samsung kit will charge when the phone is relatively close by - I read 2 meters, but that doesnt sound right - that would be like 6ft... I would settle for 1 ft. The touchstone has to be RIGHT on it... If I had an otterbox case, I am 99% sure the magnetics wouldn't catch and I doubt think the charging field would work, because I can hold it just above the reach of the magnets and no charge. Touch it to the touchstone and BINGO.

Custom controller mount

This is really easy to make.
The raw materials are:
aluminum flatbar
3m automotive mounting tape
electrical tape
plastic cabinet support
I am not positive about that last item. I believe it is a drawer or cabinet fastener of some kind. I have no idea what it came with. It was just something I found in my junk drawer.
I trimmed it down, sanded the edge. Then I cut a piece of aluminum flatbar to about 4". I bent it about 30 degrees or so. Used the 3m tape to mount the flatbar to the back of the controller, and the plastic channel to the flatbar. Then I wrapped it in electrical tape to make it black. Kinda ghetto, but I don't like painting. The thickness of the channel just happened to be perfect for holding the Shield when it's in the Fintie case.
Yes, it's a little on the heavy side. You won't want to marathon game this way. But it works. There's really no other way for me to prop the tablet up on my lap when I am sitting on the couch or in bed.
Anyway, just wanted to share the idea with ya.

btw, I think it would be much less unwieldy if the channel was right on top of the controller. Unfortunately, that would prevent access to the charging port. I might get a 3" OTG cable with a right angle connector that can stay there permanently, then shove the channel as close to the controller as possible.
Nice work mate
holy ****... i didn't believe it would be possible but nice job man LOL
How long can you hold it for before your arms need a break? That's the only thing I'm thinking off when I see that.

It's a little on the heavy side for sure. I had it resting in my lap.
I actually just sent my tablet back today. With the screen off, it went from 82% battery to dead in just a couple hours. Plus the flaky wifi I was getting, I got tired of messing with it. So if anyone wants the mount, let me know.

LG V30+ audio jack repair/replacement and other

Hey everyone,
I bought a Frankenstein phone, but the audio jack plays only on the left side. There is no way to stick something in there to move the jack to the right a tiny bit. Also the blacked out frame has the paint wore out around the USB and audio jack. Is there a good paint to put on it to cover it up? I use black permanent marker ,but it wears out. I've been looking for a place to repair it locally here in Washington state, but I have not received any emails back. Thanks for your time...
lol what are the chances! I am in WA too lol and had same issue with one of my V30 i bought last week, mine also only played from one side. If i pushed the plug to one side or pulled the plug out very slightly it would play both sides neither was an ideal solution for me. I used a can of air to clean jack opening first, then i removed most cotton from a Q-tip and used the Q-tip to try clean the jack from inside, neither worked at first but then i pushed in the plug fast by placing the plug in jack (without pushing it all the way in) and hitting it with hand to fast-push it in couple of times, it probably dislodged the dirt or lint stuck in there and it started working. Sometimes a piece of lint or other stuff can get stuck in there or cover the connections and plug doesn't make full connection anymore. Just make sure that you don't use a pin or needle to try clean inside the jack as you will probably break or damage the connections inside.
In your case it could be same or something else entirely but I suggest you try fixing yourself first because getting it repaired will cost you $50-100 or even more. These phones are not easy to open or attempt DIY repairs on.
As far as the paint chipping off, you could buy paint from a hobby shop like one in Redmond (HobbyTown USA), they sell small spray paint cans, you could use tape or stickers to cover the rest of phone and spray the worn out area with matching paint. Or just use a nice case that covers most of the affected area.
Lol that is a coincidence.. I'll try cleaning it out and see. Did you happen to buy yours off of eBay from a seller in Texas? Thanks for the reply
