What do you recommend for a reasonable BT headset that I can use in the car as a handsfree device and also play music to an acceptable quality (subjective I know)? Ideally stereo.
Also, can you get a BT widget that plus into a hi fi that can receive steroe broadcast over BT from the Hermes?
I'm looking at the Nokia HS-12W for the same purpose (music + handsfree). An alternative could be the SE HBH-970 (or something like that, also a stereo headset with lcd), but I prefer the Nokia as I already have chargers to match and like the radio option. The SE does allow listing to audio from one bluetooth music device, while still allowing for handsfree operation (the Nokia requires both the music and the telephone to be the same device).
There is a software by jetwaremobile that should allow one to even see the caller name on the lcd display of the headset.
For the BT widget, I think you are looking for something like the Nokia AD-42w. It has both line inputs and line outputs, and can stream music to/from a bluetooth device. IIRC, Motorola also has something similar to the Nokia AD-42w, but I'm not sure.
(I'm thinking of getting this as well, to be able to use the Nokia HS-12w as a pair of regular wireless headphones - but I'm not sure about the quality).
There also is the HTC-S100 (bluetooth stereo headset, no lcd display), which you could use. It has a standard 3.5mm jack, so it should be no problem connecting this even to a line input of a hifi system.
I haven't tested any of the above equipment, so I cannot comment on the quality, nor on the compatibility of the hardware.

presumably the headset devices have a mic for the call handling? is it in the control/lcd part of the device?

I upgrded my imate to 2.06wwe.
I also patched my registry key for the handsfree profile to become active.
I paired my Jabra BT250 headset to the imate, which assigned it the handsfree profile.
I even get the handsfree icon, whenever the imate discover the Jabra headset.
So please can anyone tell me, why I see no difference between headset and handsfree profile.
I suppose to have options such as redial directly from the headset, but it just doesn't work.
Do you think something is wrong?
Maybe something in the configuration?

There is no hardware in the world called "handsfree". this is a feature.
The Jabra BT250 headset, support both headset AND handsfree profiles.
Check here. Look under "Supported Bluetooth profiles".
i would say, that headset is a small earpiece with mike in it + bluetooth. however handsfree is a set of separate speaker, mike, it has couple of buttons and it is used mainly in car.
my headset has one button for picking or hanging up phonecalls + volume up/down.
i would say, that every handsfree has two buttons for calls. separate green and red button.
that makes difference for me...
my headset doesn't support handsfree. maybe because it is a headset. not a handsfree.
i don't know about yours...
...so what was the reg hack, you did, to enable handsfree?

I've spent many a frustrated hour trying to find a way to use my Bluetake I-Phono bluetooth headphones without that damn dongle and at long last, I've found a solution!
"Simply" install the WM2003SE upgrade by toenailed/xda2jojo (which is pretty bloomin impressive, BTW) and then install the HP iPAQ Bluetooth Stereo Headphones Driver Update.
This adds a "High Quality Audio setup" option to the Broadcom bluetooth implementation within the WM2003SE upgrade. Not quite A2DP but pretty damn close. Fidelity, volume, bass are pretty good, particularly considering its a wireless connection, but there are occasional "pops" and "squeaks" to contend with. The connection is so sensitive that I'm having to maintain line-of-sight between my XDAII and the right-hand (BT connected) side of the headphones. I can move several yards away but only as long as I keep the LOS, otherwise the connection degrades significantly.
It's far from perfect but its not a bad compromise until someone cracks A2DP on the XDA (something which I would happily pay £50 to achieve, if any interested party is listening).

Hi there mate I have V3 BTHS I tried using broadcom plus the upgrade but its not working...not sure though if I configure it correctly ...When i checked the connection on the bluetooth MAnager/Active Connection it shows an Icon in the Outgoing Connection and it is connected but i dont hear any sounds on my bt headset. What could be the problem? BTW my BT works on the orig bluetooth progy but only on the calls not in music players and sound notification. Hope you can help me. Thanks
As I understand it, you can use a BT headset for calls or BT headphones for music, but not both. My headphones are supposed to work in headset mode but they don't... for the moment at least.

Okay I have the Bluetake i-PHONO on order. Can someone please tell me if it's possible to use them as stereo headphones and a headset at the same time? When you add the Bluetake to your BT setup as high-quality audio, can you add it at the same time as a BT headset? Does it show up as two icons in the BT manager? The Bluetake is supposed to automatically switch between A2DP and headset/handsfree profile... What I want is to be listening to music using media player over A2DP, then hit the button on the Bluetake and pick up a call. Isn't this the way it's supposed to work?

Expensive they may be, MTX, but I HATE cables, and what's the point in carrying around an MP3 player when you already have one in the form of an XDA (albeit with a few 1GB SD cards in tow)!? I'm working towards a personal nirvana of "single music source, multiple outputs"; I have an FM transmitter wired up to my GPS enabled car cradle so both my WMA and TomTom audio come out of my car speakers; I have wireless Sennheiser headphones for the house and now and now I have wireless BT headphones for mobile use.
I didn't think that was the case, surur. It certainly isn't in practican terms in that the Bluetake phones work great with their own BT dongle (which truly supports A2DP) but with the "High Quality Audio setup", things arn't so rosy.
That's what the Bluetake phones are designed to do, trhuseby, but I think the only way to achieve that at the moment is to use the BT dongle for music playback and then connect your XDA direct to the phones in headset mode. I believe that the phones would then automatically swap from music playback to headset mode when a call comes in, but you have to use that bloody dongle.
The settings for "High Quality Audio setup" do allow the (de)selection of both audio and headset connections but alas, this does not make it work.

Googling gave me the above solution for bluetooth headphones which can stream music from my XDA mini to the bluetooth headphones.
However I dont have any idea about what to look for when buying bluetooth headphones.
My requirements are
-- Head phones must recieve songs played by Windows media player on my XDA mini.
-- Head phones must have FM radio functionality
-- Head phones must have handsfree features to receive calls and stop music play during the call
Can any one suggest me a product. Can someone also tell the the technology features that I need to look for when buying product with the above requirements.

I've tried the Zonet ZUB8100, which is basically the same as the OMIZ. Couldn't get them to pair with the Wizard in A2DP mode; they'd only show up as a handsfree device.
I've used the Zonet with the SX66 (Blue Angel); they were OK as stereo handphones (the Moto HS820 works much better, IMHO). The Zonet is the crappiest handsfree unit I've ever used; the noise cancellation is non-existent and the mic barely functions.

I bought a Jabra BT3030 lookalike, expecting to use it to control the Blackstone, which will have wired headphones connected directly to the 3.5 jack (best sound quality, convenience of a remote, and I expect long battery life).
However I cannot get the sound to come through the headset if the remote works. It looks like if a stereo headset is connected, all sound will be sent to it (if I connect the headset to the BT receiver, it works fine).
I tried switcha2dp but if I switch off AD2P, the remote stops working.
I hoped to use only the AVRCP profile when pairing, but that is not an option (I only have "handsfree" or "wireless stereo", "handsfree" does not work for music/remote).
Can anyone offer any advice? I'd like to disable AD2P while keeping AVRCP but I can't seem to find a way...

I am preparing my phone as the ultimate in car utility. I have uploaded all my music to Google Music and recently got on a sim only contract that gives me truly unlimited data.
Now my issue is which car stereo should I get. I have never bought a bluetooth stereo before so am fairly ignorant as to the various bluetooth standards and what to look out for. I would like the following features to be available;
Bluetooth streaming music from my phone to the stereo.
Controlling the music via my car stereo
Having the track name and other ID3 tags display on the stereo display
Being able to answer calls through my stereo and have the audio play through the car speakers and the steros microphone
Access to my contact list via the stereo interface and make calls from here
Are these all possible and are there any other nice features that would be possible?
I've been considering either of these Clarion Stereos, stereo 1, stereo 2. How would either of these match up to my requirements?
Also of note is that I'm running CM10, and also I will likely upgrade to a Nexus4 in a few months incase this makes any difference to which stereo I should buy.
