g4 and wm6 - G4

i understood from this forum that it's very dangerous to try running a g3 rom on g4...but do you mean that wm6,made for g3 is different from g4???cause i tried to upgrade to wm6 crossbow and it didn't work,i don't know how it happened, but i am still with wm05...so,what rom do you mean is dangerous for g4-radio or windows???is there wm6 for g4?
thank you guys, in advance!

Please look at other thread before asking... especially this one
G4 devices are known to have two things in common :
- IPL/SPL are untouchable and with version number ending with .0001 (or so)
- they are CID locked (wish would only allow HTC to flash roms)
G3 Rom comes with IPL and SPL in. So if you try to flash it onto a G4 device, you may brick it by altering the original IPL/SPL. This is known to be hard to do, btw... don't do it. Also, in case of failed flashing, the IPL/SPL are the only things that could save you.
So you should try flashing G4 rom only.
Unfortunately, the CID lock makes it hard to flash any rom you'd like. Only a couple of ROMs are flashable on G4+CID devices.

thank you!

You need to be clearer.
1.) Is your device a G3 or a G4 chipset?
2.) If you flashed a ROM with the IPL/SPL information for the wrong chipset, you may have bricked it.
3.) Is it CID unlocked? If so, flashing a ROM on your device may have bricked it.
Please give us more detail about what it's doing.
If you have truly bricked it (made it totally unusable), your only option may be to send it in for repair/replacement. If not, there may still be some hope.
It appears that English may not be your primary language. If this is the case, I HIGHLY recommend getting some personal assistance in understanding the information provided by the person who provided the ROM.
DON'T EVER FLASH A ROM IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS 100%!!!!!!
If you think you just have a feel for it, go back and re-read it until you understand!
That having been said, WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY!

I confirm it is cingular 8125(Wizard 100) is G4 chipset. Befor i flash, IPL/SPL is 2.25.0001. I may have bricked it!
Thanks!
yes, it's definitely bricked. Never flash a G4 with a G3 ROM. Check ur Private Message.
i have the self problem with my xda mini s, before was an G3, then i have updatet to G4, if bricked, .... nothing if
plzz help
i have bricked my qtek will updating, there is any way to turn it on..
plz help me..
If you flash the G3 ipl/spl to a G4 wizard.I'm sorry to say that your Wizard is broken .Are you in china now ,if you in china, you can change the brocken chip .it's cost 400 RMB.
I flashed a ROM with G3 IPL/SPL to my G4 and was able to recover by cooking my own ROM.
please can you share ur cooked rom with us please?
I would be happy to. However, all I did was followed the tutorials found on this site, and cooked it using the WWE off htc's website, stripping the IPL/SPL.

I upgraded my ROM and nothing

I downloaded RUU_Molski.Biz_226102_22610105_022511_G4_WWE-30MB version of ROM and i upgraded it to my device.
IPL 2.18
ISL 2.18--> but this version might be upgrade these for 2.26, but nothing happened. Can anyone help me why? my device CID locked and i using Crossbow now i just wanted to upgrade IPL the newest version... If anyone can post me a link where can i download working IPL upgrader for a locked G4 i will be happy!

If your Wizard is fully functional, why would you want to upgrade these on your device? If you do some reading on the Hermes you will find that the carriers/manufacturer are using the bootloaders to make it harder to update your device (i.e. the .0108 bootloaders) locking your device to a certain radio. I would steer away from upgrading these unless absolutely necessary, so as to upgrade a radio if required for example.
BTW: Most of the ROMs cooked for G4's that are cooked to not touch the bootloaders to 1) prevent noobs from bricking their device and 2)to allow any ROM to be installed. Aren't the developers great? They cook these for both G3 and G4.
IPL/SPL can't be replaced on a G4 with any of the roms atm, but if you got IPL/SPL 2.18 you're device isn't a G4!

But I've got three zeros after that 2.18.0001 I think this is absolutely G4--> the reason why I want to update IPL is, my speaker make no voice and I think after that can be working again
That makes more sense. IPL/SPL 2.18.0001 makes it a G4. I haven't seen a update possibility for IPL/SPL on a G4 yet. Be very careful, flashing 2.26 on a G4 will brick you're device!

This doesn't mean you can't try flashing a different cooked rom for a G4. Try it, the other possibility may be a hardware failure (bad speaker).

As mentioned in an earlier post... there is no way to update the IPL/SPL on a G4 as of yet. I do not think you will be able to find such a ROM. The only way I think you would be able to do this is if your carrier released an official ROM specifically for your G4 device, but that is unlikely. None of the G4 ROMS cooked by the Xda-Devs that I'm aware of, update the IPL/SPL. Try a different cooked G4 ROM, if that doesn't work I suggest having that speaker checked out. I don't remember reading anything anywhere about the bootloaders affecting the devices speaker function.

new to G4

Hi all, Just got a an O2 mini S for my wife because she liked mine so much. Unfortunately it is a G4 (mine is a G3) and it has all of these CID unlocking issues. I want to put a WWE Rom on this German G4. Is it correct that if I unlock my phone at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ I can put any ROM on the G4? Or can I still only put certain ROMs (if so which ones?) on the G4? Thanks for any help.
Dave
yes http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ will cid unlock your phone, making it possible for you to flash your device with all sorts of roms using the normal ruu .exe method.
Alternatively you can use mun's shelltool.
Good Luck
Got it
I used the tutorial here: CID Locked Flashing (MUN's as you suggested), and I was able to flash a WWE Rom. I have to say I was scared I would damage the phone, but MUN's top notch instructions helped a lot.
Thanks for the help!

Ok here I come to save the day... The reason you are getting that error message is because you have a locked G4. From what you have said already, It sounds like you have T-Mobile and unfortunately, due to DOC right protection on all of our devices, you need to perform some kind of unlock on your device or work around it. I believe that G4 CID unlocking has been almost perfected but I can tell you 2 other ways to flash your device.
On the grander scale, here are all 3 known ways to flash your G4 device.
First and formost, shelltools is a very common and most heavily used way to flash a G4 device. It extracts the OS from the Rom and then flashes it to your device and afterwards, you need to hard reset your device and what do you know, you have WM6.
The second way to flash a Rom to a G4 device is to use SoftSPL. SoftSPL temporarily patches the CID on your device to think it is CID unlocked and allows you to flash a new Rom to the device as if it were in fact permanently unlocked but this is only a one time go. Each time you want to change Roms, you have to flash back to your carriers official Rom and then run SoftSPL again with the new Rom of your choice.
Third and finally, I mentioned above that they have managed to permanently CID unlock G4 devices but I am not sure if they managed to perfect it yet. I also have not tried this method before because I had to have a handset exchange and ended up with a G3.
Don't take this personally, but you really need to do alot of reading before you dive into the world of Rom flashers because from the sounds of what you wrote above, you don't know enough about flashing Roms yet and that makes it really hard. Trust me, I was in your shoes before.
Just hang out in the G4 forum for a while and read as much as you can and when you feel comfortable with what you are about to do, then give it a try. I really don't want to see you screw up your phone and brick it, but I do want to see you succeed in the Rom flashing world so for your own sake, read up. Here are just a few threads that you really should check out before trying to so something you're not sure about.

No problem... It was my pleasure. You should give 1921 a try. It's its rights newest version and is supposed to be much better. I read the whole thread and one major fix is battery life. A must for a Wizard user.

Using softspl to flash RADIO ROM possible ? or what

FOR THE NON EXPERT USERS like me this is not a tutorial it's a question i wanna know if it's possible , cuz it's logicly possible
G4 G4 G4
i wannted to mention that i think from reading that the soft spl and hard spl is the same but the soft spl every time i flash i have to use and i don't think that it is hard or boring so
tell me experts what will happen to my G4 k-jam if i did this
copy the nk.nbf from the RADIO rom and put it in the soft spl folder like we do in Regular Roms to flash it
the nk.nbf from the rom only has a gsm i checked no spl or ipl or extrom or os or splash nothin just gsm
so what will happen to my runing rom TNT 19209 pro
i wanna know if it will addition the gsm only or it will brick my Wizard
Its probablly going to corrupt your current ROM. It wont brick your Wizard exactly, but youy wont be able to start your device....thats what happened to me when I tried something similiar anyways.

thx for respond in my stupid posts and i'm sure u think that i'm just noob and don't accept any new ideas my proplem that i just want to leave my spl and ipl the way they r
by the way
i can solve my proplem by flashing an imate official rom but i'm afraid to do that
cuz it have all spl and ipl and os and every thing and waht i should do to flash just open the exe downloaded file and proceed or what
a stupid question as useual da the official roms require a cid unlocked device in g4 or what and is there is any way that the official rom can be harmfull to my g4 Wizard
if this official is great for me and not harmfull it has a radio version that works fine with me after i flash the official rom i 'll soft spl to tnt again but this time with the old radio that works for me
what do u say ?
Yes, you can use SoftSPL to flash a new GSM ROM to your phone.
No, there's no way an official ROM can hurt your phone. They check your hardware and flash appropriately. For best results, stick to the original provider's ROM.
There's no reason to be concerned about leaving your IPL SPL unmodified. Even if you use HardSPL, you can still revert back to an official ROM, after removing HardSPL.
If you do a HardSPL, you can flash pretty much anything that doesn't include IPL/SPL, including new boot screens, new radios, and almost every recent ROM in the Wizard Mobile 6 thread.
The phone must be CID-locked to flash an official ROM. If you used HardSPL, you would have to remove it (read the sticky-ed thread in the top of the G4 board) before going back to an OEM ROM. If you try to flash a G4 with HardSPL in place, you risk bricking it.
The newer TNT-based ROMs do not (and should not) include a radio as part of the package.
Don't use older ROMs, they are less reliable, and more likely to brick a G4 than newer ROMs are. Use this thread to choose a good ROM after you flash back to the OEM ROM and HardSPL your phone. If you like TNT, you should probably use one of these versions.

Be carefull!
There are official pre-G4 ROMs, they do not contain a G4 IPL/SPL therefore a pre-G4 (G3-only) official ROM most certainly will brick your G4 device.
Several members have reported bricks due to this!
BTW soft-SPL was designed to flash anything, including Radio.

Just remove all the IPL/SPLs from the ROM.
No problem in flashing an stripped ROM.
Radio only flashing won't result in a corrupted ROM, but why with soft SPL?
Just flash hard SPL and feel the freedom of flashing with a RUU without using the sspl.

I know the feeling!
I was really nervous when I first tried to reflash the bootloaders, however radio and OS ROMs aren't critical.
If the bootloader still works in good order you should be able to recover from almost any mishap.
Good luck!
