How to upgrade from WM5 TO WM6
To upgrade your prophet to WM6 I recommend that you first of all downgrade to the NVID version of WM5 AKU2.2 and get the latest Active Sync:
1. Download the NVID(no vendor) AKU2.2 rom for WM5 here :http://rapidshare.com/files/17208693/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe YOU CAN USE Step1 of PdaMobiz or PDAViet Temp INSTEAD OF NVID(no vendor) AKU2.2 ROM...
2. After it has been downloaded get the latest Active Sync from Microsoft.com
3. Install active sync, you might need to reboot
4. When your computer has rebooted, run the file from step No 1 . Follow the steps, remember that it can take some time and seem to stuck at 80% and higher, but just wait.
5. When you have done this, your pda will reboot. After it comes with the welcome to windows mobile screen,"Tap Here To Begin",JUST LEAVE IT. In fact don't touch your device before the next steps are finished.
6. Now download one of the WM6 versions( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1279985&postcount=1 )
7. Now find a file named Upgrade.bat,and run it.(you don't have to run Step1 of PdaMobiz or PDAViet Temp,as you have already downgraded to AKU2.2)
8. Wait until the upgrade finishes(usually takes 12-15minutes)..WAIT WAIT WAIT
9. A message will be displayed in the dos box,and it will say that the upgrade is finished etc....etc...,now you HAVE to HARD RESET,to finish the upgrade and enjoy you new WM6!
How to downgrade from WM6 TO WM5
The downgrade process from WM6 to WM5 is pretty simple. All you have to do is to downgrade to WM5 NVID and after that upgrade to the WM5 you want:

NOTICE
If you use a different AKU 2.2 ROM(like PDAViet Temp),you may have two EXEs in the folder you extracted.Be careful and use the one that is made for your device:
FILENAME G3.EXE
is for G3 devices:IPL x.xx.0000, SPL x.xx.000.0 (this is shown when you reset)
FILENAME G4.EXE
is for G4 devices:IPL x.xx.0001, SPL x.xx.000.1 (this is shown when you reset)
RECOVERING FROM ERROR IN STEP 8 WM5->WM6
1. Don't panic
2. Don't panic
3. Unplug the phone
4. Reset with stylus,and keep the Camera Button pressed.
5. A 3 color screen will appear(Bootloader Screen)
6. Connect your device with your PC,and run the NVID(no vendor) WM5 rom.
7. The device will be resetted after RUU(rom update utility)finishes
8. Repeat the WM6 upgrade,from STEP 5..
How to switch or upgrade/downgrade between WM6 versions(for example PDAViet->Trueneytral)
1. First you have to downgrade to WM5 AKU2.2 using the WM6->WM5 guide(some say that you don't have to do that,but i believe that it's better to downgrade first rather than making a simple overwrite)
2. Now follow STEP 5 of the WM5->WM6 guide
Device doesn't connect to PC after flash
If your device doesn't connect to your PC after flash,just enter bootloader(press camera button+while pressing soft reset and hold,until a tri-color screen shows up),and flash the NoVendor WM5 Rom: http://rapidshare.com/files/17208693/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe .Then repeat the whole process...

I need to downgrade to WM5, 'couse I cannot boot anymore. After running the setup I get an error that the device cannot be found. I have connected the S200 with the boot loader running.
Edit: Now it works on an "old" WinXP machine.
Huge Problem!!
Ok guys I am having a huge problem. I tried to upgrade to WM6 but when running the RUU and changing the rom, it encountered an error saying the nbf file cannot be installed on my pda phone and now my phone is stuck(i think permanantly) on the bootloader screen.
No matter what I do to try to fix this, IE: restart device, power down by removing battery, try to run the RUU again, nothing helps. Its is really stuck and I really need this cell phone.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

I followed the instructions carefully, and my phone (Qtek S200) seemed to boot with WM6.0
However, after aligning screen, it tried to initialize the phone with some extended roms, a procedure which failed, and I had to soft reset.
After reboot, it seems to work fine.
Is it?
EDIT: Another thing I noticed is that keyboard is in THAI !!! How can I make US the default? Olso, I have Resco keyboard GR edition. Will this work with WM6?

Is this G3 only, or both?
I'm asking, because in PDAviet's temp file there are two different rom updaters, but in the file linked above there is only one.

i don't know mate.i believe you can use pdaviet's temp instead of aku2.2 nvid...
Another thing I noticed, is that it looses pairing with my bt handsfree...
I am making the pairing, and works fine. However, when at night I am shutting off my hf in order to save battery, the next morning the pairing is gone.
Any solution to this?

You've forgot to do a hard reset after flashing, please read one of the flashing guides.

I don't want any special feature, just the row wm6.

Steps to HARDspl your prophet
5. connect your prophet to computer (activesync done and Hardreset before so will be highly recommended !! )
5.1. In the Upgrade_HardSPL folder that you had downloaded AND UNZIPPED,
then look for the xxx.bat file and double click it (updated 20091114), all activities will only take 2-3 minutes and nothing will be seen in the Prophet screen.
(P.S. if connection Error, NO PANIC, soft reset OR remove battery for half a minute and try again.)
6. after the flash completed, it will restart automatically.
7. done!! in your prophet, nothing will be changed VISIBLY EXCEPT the digits IN the reboot screen !!!!!
and while booting now YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SEE information like:
Prophet Hard SPL isn't yet completed until the SPL shows

HardSPL could sometimes not 100% perfect, as my experience. My Prophet stuck at Tri-color screen once after flashing a WM6 Rom, and I had to flash the official WWE AKU 2.2 Rom with IPL/SPL to set it to work.
SoftSPL method is more reliable, IMO.
100% success in HardSPL upgrade......

1. if your device had been HardSPL successfully, the you can......
a. copy the 3 files ( in jumpspl.zip) to the root directory of the prophet
( JUST NEXT TO THE " \WINDOWS" FOLDER),
b. soft reset prophet,
c. run the SPL.lnk in the prophet,
d. then continue step 2 ( only 5 minutes..... finish.... so cool~~~~ )
100% success ~~~~

Not about the necessity but.....
Hard SPL takes 3.5 minutes to flash completely,
but the old method......... PVtemp + Upgrade = ~30minutes....
just about the efficiency and the convenience... ^_^

If our Prophet has IPL/SPL 2.××, just do SoftSPL before flash new WM6 Rom.
No need to flash HardSPL.
Is it not simple?

then BEFORE flashing/upgrading your Prophet to WM6,

2. UNPLUG YOUR DEVICE from PC,
3. Execute the SPL shortcut IN THE DEVICE, then you see a all bright or white screen,
Then plug back the USB port ( connect to computer) the device, THEN use the Rom Upgrade Utility (RUU) to the rom you like ( all activities can only be seen in the PC screen, nothing will be shown on the prophet....
4. Finally, after 100% ( at 85% may take to wait a bit longer, just be
patient, as it may look like hang for about 2 minutes) just wait, all will went
ok AND OF COURSE, after it auto-restart, ALL will be OKOKOK !!!
( better hard-reset for once more )

No, HardSPL is not needed to flash back to WM5 Rom.
Just put the Prophet into bootloader(Tri-color screen) and take RUU of WM5 Rom, will surely succeed, anytime.
How do you put spljump files to windows folder on the device when only the USB synchro mode (Red Green Blue screen) is displaying ?

Yea, I must agree with Eqancy. Tried your method several times, the SPL says just what is should (2.G3.4PDA) but bootloader kicks in every time and nothing seems to work any longer.
Seems like I must be back to the old method.

There is only SPL 2.15 not anymore
I've tried everything but
Results are same.
I've Wm6 before but it was slow and I want to change rom.
and I've read to threads for how to.
I had earlier IPL 1.0 only that but rom was G4 version.
and it was very slowly.
and I've upgraded spl to 2.20
but after this upgrade I can nothing to upgrade
only Qtek's 2.20.7.34_2.20.7114_02.19.21 rom.
I've upgraded/installed Hardspl ( GSM version appears on bootscreen and HTC logo but still waiting )
And after this upgrade.

i was upgrading it using the telstra WM6 rom.
during the upgrade it was around 15% that the upgrade utility show the error that device cannot connect.
my device is bricked now
IT is not KITL enabled
it the first splash screen it shows no gsm
it only shows the bootloader menu

i read the wiki on how to unbrick a bricked hermes but there is no sulotion

Did you also read the wiki to see how to install hardspl to protect your device BEFORE flashing ?(here: http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27 )? Are you using Olipro hardspl?
Try to use the SDCARD method (Format a sdcard in FAT32. Copy the nbh file on it and rename it HERMIMG.NBH. Insert the card and HR : OK/POWER/Soft reset. Follow the instructions)

Pretty much all the info on unbricking is in this table by Pof. If this doesn't sort you out then you're have to send it off to imeicheck etc for repair.
The history so far
I have bricked my jasjam while updating to telstra wm6
I have not super CID my device before upgrading to telstra wm6
Now my device freezed at second splash screen

NO GSM
when i used the info 6 command on mtty it says NO CID
i can not upgrade my device from SD CARD (memory stick)
i used these command on MTTY.exe but no improvement

when i tried to rom upgrade using any ruu (ruuwraper,.....) it only shows 1% and my device reboots and ....

I hope you understand this, Basically if
1. You have a "No GSM"
2. Your CID is corrupted
3. Your OS has no KITL mode
4. You didn't use HARDSPL...
Then your phone is screwed, and you need to buy a new one or send it to repair.
Hope you have better luck with your next phone. (you seem to be collecting bricked phones!)

That's the BIGGEST mistake u ever made with ur Jasjam, bro
try to send to repair centre, if repair cost is too much. Than u have to decide try but new gadget. Kaiser looks flirt to me

The offical I-mate telstra Jasjam rom for WM6 came out recently previous to that i just kept the original WM5 rom that it came with much to the dismay of my peers, actually considered it a few times but decided against it till the official rom came out.
yeah if you follow the instructions for the WM6 rom you use it should be ok however the "Murphys law" of programming tends to suggest there will always be an error that they dont allow for.

This has NOTHING to do with only using official Roms! One has pretty much the same chance of bricking their phone evening using an official WM6 as a cooked variant from Schaps et al..
Simply put if you don't use HardSPL then you're asking for trouble no matter what the ROM. You should also use the MicroSD wherever possible as it is much more reliable.

Just a few questions:
1. After step 2 i.e. HardSPL is complete, what should be the status of the prophet? I mean.. at the end, would it soft reset? hard reset? the screen will remain blank? tri color? How would I know the step is completed successfully?
2. Step 5: Flash the nk.nbf. Ok.. now how should the prophet be connected? Will the prophet be in a wm5/6 setup stage, and a guest connection would have to be made thru activesynch, just like the previous process? What state would the prophet be in from previous step, and how and when to run the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe? It is understood that my nk.nbf is in the same directory.

1. look the same (nothing change), only the digits was being changed while rebooting...
2. USB cable to connect, you can let it be in guess connection with the activesync or if problems occur, have a look to post 1 in my thread ( in my signature) for your reference..

1. Your Prophet will restart to the same OS as you had before. There is no change other then the SPL replaced. You can check this on the second startup-screen, the one with the red informationtext. If things went fine, you should read: SPL 2.G3.4PDA or SPL 2.G4.4PDA. If not, don't continue flashing but try to install HardSPL again.
2. As the OS is still the same you used before, just connect your PPC using an USB cable. No need to connect in guest mode or anything different. When made sure that HardSPL is installed correct, the Prophet doesn't have to be in a special state. You have downloaded the RUU according to your devicetype G3 or G4. Download the nk.nbf ROM file of your choice and place it in the same folder with the RUU. Now just run the RUU and be patient. It seems to stop several time, but just don't react as long as you don't get an error. At the and the RUU will report it is finished and your Prophet will restart.

Ok a brief followup.. after downloading the update package from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350033&highlight=hard+spl and applying the G3 version of HardSPL, I see absolutely NO change on my prophet. The boot up shows SPL 2.20.0000 and not SPL 2.G3.4PDA as mentioned. I've tried it twice with same result.
Any suggestions?

Try this "one step Jumpspl+Korand3.1(WM6.1)" tool (uploading), quite convenient.. to try this rom. ( clean, fast and stable)
I was trying to make upgrade from wm5 to wm6,and was looking in tutorial xda-developers > Prophet > Prophet mobile 6> New WM6 Upgrade Guide. First,I found a Upgrade_HardSPL_G4.rar, and did what was said in tutorial,copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of your Prophet and then unplug / disconnect Prophet,Execute the SPL.lnk IN THE DEVICE, then you see Prophet in all bright or white screen,Execute the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 (I have a g4 device) to upgrade hardspl. I got message that my update utility was old and that I need new. Then I restarted device,just run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 from the hardspl folder and instalation went smooth,pda restarted and worked well. What is the IPL/SPL displayed?
Are you sure your device is a G4?

I face the same issue.. have tried hard reset, hardSPL and downgrading to WM5 ROM.. only the downgrade is working.. but every time I try to upgrade to WM6 it enters RGB screen.. have tried with atleast 5 WM6 ROM... any senior member to help pls.

What is the SPL of your device?
When recovering to WM5 you better NOT use the Mobis step 1. Any other step 1 or NVID will be fine. The Mobis ROM is too manipulated for flashing their own WM6 ROM. It will give all kinds of problems when it is used for other purposes.
I tried recovery with RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_QtekWWE_Ship.exe
and it reported error,saying that it's only for upgrade. Where to find NVID

dioxda2,I have read your thread. This is what I know at the moment,and what I think it should be done (correct me if I make any mistake):
-my pda boots in bootloader mode
-it shows on screen IPL:2.58.0001, SPL:2.58.0001
-it's G4 model
-it has no hardspl on it
First one wild shot:
1. Download this jumpspl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329147
2.follow the instructions,and instead nk.nbf file from desired rom I put a nk.nbf file found in hardspl rar archive to the SoftSPL folder ,and hopefully flash hrdspl.
3.from bootloader flash any desired wm6 rom with RUU
Second solution:
1.download PVTemp
2.try to flash it from bootloader
3.if it's ok,then on to the next step like on your page one for old method.
Is there something else,diferent way to do this from bootloader?

Hi there ~~~~ tell you what~~ ^_^
1. there are 2 ways to upgrade
a. " New " Method.
b. " Old" method.
2. for more update rom flashing.... better have you device hardSPL.
then you can go by 3 means to flash....
1. straight upgrade that is: connect to PC via activesync, activate RUU right ahead ( I don't like this method as sometimes will stuck @ bootloader,
2. copy the 3 files from the jumpspl to the prophet's root directory then activate manually...
3. force bootloader ( by manually buttons combination and not reboot in 3 color hang )...
then 2 and 3 is fine, ( 3 is more convenience though), you should see " USB " at the bottom prophet screen if you did things right. ^_^,
then flash...... ^_^
This is my [size=+2]little handmade tool [/size], a combination tool with Taiwan Cook - YouZii and XDA cook - Korand,
just unzip, execute the " UPGRADE.cmd " , the some on screen clicks, wait and done. !!!
Don't forget to hardSPL before so. OK?

So, after first succesefull flash of my tytn I took friends mda vario 2 to do the same. And bricked it!!!
Because of first unsuccesefull flash when I downloaded RUU_inside.nbh file into HardSPL7 directory. So, I connected vario and started RUU_wrapper. BUT in a next few seconds I realised that I am upgrading ROM instead of HARDSPL-ing File inside was from DopodAsia WWE.
Upgrade stared, in a 30minutes it stucked in 24% and I disoconnected PDA. After that it stucked in bootloader! SPL 2.03!
I tried to do HardSPL after-no help. I tried to install ATT Stripped ROM- error on 1%. I downloaded official WM 5.0 GER - no help again.
Few more attempts of flashing HARDSPL, and ROM-s via RUU-wrapper didnt help eather. THEN JUST SOFTRESET: I saw dopod bootsplash screen, and windows started normally!!! I couldnt believe, because I was prepparing to do that complicated procedure of unbricking.
After starting windows I just did HARDSPL and ATT stripped ROM: All OK UNLESS GSM!
Is it possible to fix??

I was in a hurry, so I just connected PDA and start wrapper. I shocked when a I saw wrong .nbh file, but it was too late. But luckely it looks like new ROM was partly OK and I was able to start WM, then flash HardSPL and WM correctly.
Both hermes are working fine.
P.S. I would like someone to put simple guide for people who only want to change their ROM to simple WWE, and have some experience.
1. Download HardSPL7 and unzip to folder on PC
2. Download ATT ROM and unzip to different folder on PC
3. Connect via ActiveSync
4. Start RUU wrapper from HardSPL folder and follow instructions
5. See if you flashed correctely (in a bootloader must be 2.10.01olipro in SPL)
6. If its OK than reset, start WM on PC, connect via ASync and start RUU-wrapper FROM ATT ROM folder, choose autodetect or SPL you have seen in bootloader screen - accept everything....Wait for 10min and enjoy in ENG ROM!
