I was trying to make upgrade from wm5 to wm6,and was looking in tutorial xda-developers > Prophet > Prophet mobile 6> New WM6 Upgrade Guide. First,I found a Upgrade_HardSPL_G4.rar, and did what was said in tutorial,copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of your Prophet and then unplug / disconnect Prophet,Execute the SPL.lnk IN THE DEVICE, then you see Prophet in all bright or white screen,Execute the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 (I have a g4 device) to upgrade hardspl. I got message that my update utility was old and that I need new. Then I restarted device,just run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 from the hardspl folder and instalation went smooth,pda restarted and worked well. Then I went back on xda-developers > Prophet > Prophet mobile 6> New WM6 Upgrade Guide,found this sentence: ''Step 3 and 4 are necessary only if the WM6 rom you have downloaded instead of nk.nbf has os.nb file and the ExtROM folder'', and as I downloaded wm61_korand_3_1.rar that contains only nk.nbf file,I put it in Update_Package\Update Utilities,and run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4 fron that folder. The instalation finished and pda booted in bootloader. After that I tried flashing Shadow My Edition 2,no DualSIM,and followed the instructions to recover pda from wiki/ prophet recovery(downloaded PDAMobiz_Prophet_WM6_V1.00_Step1),everything was the same,always bootloader. Is there a help for my prophet? Could someone give me a step by step istruction how to bring it to life? Any help is welcome. Thanks
What is the IPL/SPL displayed?
Are you sure your device is a G4?

If you can enter bootloader, the device is recoverable.

I face the same issue.. have tried hard reset, hardSPL and downgrading to WM5 ROM.. only the downgrade is working.. but every time I try to upgrade to WM6 it enters RGB screen.. have tried with atleast 5 WM6 ROM... any senior member to help pls.

there are sucessful cases , please read my post or.... are you using Vista?
If so, you need other solution. (not with me ... sorry ~~ )

What is the SPL of your device?
When recovering to WM5 you better NOT use the Mobis step 1. Any other step 1 or NVID will be fine. The Mobis ROM is too manipulated for flashing their own WM6 ROM. It will give all kinds of problems when it is used for other purposes.

-my pda boots in bootloader mode
-it shows on screen IPL:2.58.0001, SPL:2.58.0001
-it's G4 model
-it has no hardspl on it
First one wild shot:

2.follow the instructions,and instead nk.nbf file from desired rom I put a nk.nbf file found in hardspl rar archive to the SoftSPL folder ,and hopefully flash hrdspl.

Hi there ~~~~ tell you what~~ ^_^
1. there are 2 ways to upgrade
a. " New " Method.
b. " Old" method.
2. for more update rom flashing.... better have you device hardSPL.
then you can go by 3 means to flash....
1. straight upgrade that is: connect to PC via activesync, activate RUU right ahead ( I don't like this method as sometimes will stuck @ bootloader,
2. copy the 3 files from the jumpspl to the prophet's root directory then activate manually...
3. force bootloader ( by manually buttons combination and not reboot in 3 color hang )...
then 2 and 3 is fine, ( 3 is more convenience though), you should see " USB " at the bottom prophet screen if you did things right. ^_^,
then flash...... ^_^
This is my [size=+2]little handmade tool [/size], a combination tool with Taiwan Cook - YouZii and XDA cook - Korand,
just unzip, execute the " UPGRADE.cmd " , the some on screen clicks, wait and done. !!!
Don't forget to hardSPL before so. OK?

How to upgrade from WM5 TO WM6
To upgrade your prophet to WM6 I recommend that you first of all downgrade to the NVID version of WM5 AKU2.2 and get the latest Active Sync:
1. Download the NVID(no vendor) AKU2.2 rom for WM5 here :http://rapidshare.com/files/17208693/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe YOU CAN USE Step1 of PdaMobiz or PDAViet Temp INSTEAD OF NVID(no vendor) AKU2.2 ROM...
2. After it has been downloaded get the latest Active Sync from Microsoft.com
3. Install active sync, you might need to reboot
4. When your computer has rebooted, run the file from step No 1 . Follow the steps, remember that it can take some time and seem to stuck at 80% and higher, but just wait.
5. When you have done this, your pda will reboot. After it comes with the welcome to windows mobile screen,"Tap Here To Begin",JUST LEAVE IT. In fact don't touch your device before the next steps are finished.
6. Now download one of the WM6 versions( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1279985&postcount=1 )
7. Now find a file named Upgrade.bat,and run it.(you don't have to run Step1 of PdaMobiz or PDAViet Temp,as you have already downgraded to AKU2.2)
8. Wait until the upgrade finishes(usually takes 12-15minutes)..WAIT WAIT WAIT
9. A message will be displayed in the dos box,and it will say that the upgrade is finished etc....etc...,now you HAVE to HARD RESET,to finish the upgrade and enjoy you new WM6!
How to downgrade from WM6 TO WM5
The downgrade process from WM6 to WM5 is pretty simple. All you have to do is to downgrade to WM5 NVID and after that upgrade to the WM5 you want:

FILENAME G4.EXE

RECOVERING FROM ERROR IN STEP 8 WM5->WM6
1. Don't panic
2. Don't panic
3. Unplug the phone
4. Reset with stylus,and keep the Camera Button pressed.
5. A 3 color screen will appear(Bootloader Screen)
6. Connect your device with your PC,and run the NVID(no vendor) WM5 rom.
7. The device will be resetted after RUU(rom update utility)finishes
8. Repeat the WM6 upgrade,from STEP 5..
How to switch or upgrade/downgrade between WM6 versions(for example PDAViet->Trueneytral)
1. First you have to downgrade to WM5 AKU2.2 using the WM6->WM5 guide(some say that you don't have to do that,but i believe that it's better to downgrade first rather than making a simple overwrite)
2. Now follow STEP 5 of the WM5->WM6 guide
Device doesn't connect to PC after flash
If your device doesn't connect to your PC after flash,just enter bootloader(press camera button+while pressing soft reset and hold,until a tri-color screen shows up),and flash the NoVendor WM5 Rom: http://rapidshare.com/files/17208693/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe .Then repeat the whole process...

I need to downgrade to WM5, 'couse I cannot boot anymore. After running the setup I get an error that the device cannot be found. I have connected the S200 with the boot loader running.
Edit: Now it works on an "old" WinXP machine.
Huge Problem!!
Ok guys I am having a huge problem. I tried to upgrade to WM6 but when running the RUU and changing the rom, it encountered an error saying the nbf file cannot be installed on my pda phone and now my phone is stuck(i think permanantly) on the bootloader screen.
No matter what I do to try to fix this, IE: restart device, power down by removing battery, try to run the RUU again, nothing helps. Its is really stuck and I really need this cell phone.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

I followed the instructions carefully, and my phone (Qtek S200) seemed to boot with WM6.0
However, after aligning screen, it tried to initialize the phone with some extended roms, a procedure which failed, and I had to soft reset.
After reboot, it seems to work fine.
Is it?
EDIT: Another thing I noticed is that keyboard is in THAI !!! How can I make US the default? Olso, I have Resco keyboard GR edition. Will this work with WM6?

i don't know mate.i believe you can use pdaviet's temp instead of aku2.2 nvid...
Another thing I noticed, is that it looses pairing with my bt handsfree...
I am making the pairing, and works fine. However, when at night I am shutting off my hf in order to save battery, the next morning the pairing is gone.
Any solution to this?

You've forgot to do a hard reset after flashing, please read one of the flashing guides.

No...I didn't pass. Phone has white screen, when I run RomUpdateutility.exe before flashing shows me error.

just kidding, but tell me sp3dev, when you disasm the SPL; are you actually rebasing the file, or just going at it by trial and error... because it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to hack up a Hard-SPL and SSPL.
Also... really you should only call it Hard-SPL if it prevents itself from being overwritten, otherwise it's just a USPL... not that I particularly mind.

Steps to HARDspl your prophet
5. connect your prophet to computer (activesync done and Hardreset before so will be highly recommended !! )
5.1. In the Upgrade_HardSPL folder that you had downloaded AND UNZIPPED,
then look for the xxx.bat file and double click it (updated 20091114), all activities will only take 2-3 minutes and nothing will be seen in the Prophet screen.

HardSPL could sometimes not 100% perfect, as my experience. My Prophet stuck at Tri-color screen once after flashing a WM6 Rom, and I had to flash the official WWE AKU 2.2 Rom with IPL/SPL to set it to work.
SoftSPL method is more reliable, IMO.
100% success in HardSPL upgrade......

Please look here for reference..
1. if your device had been HardSPL successfully, the you can......
a. copy the 3 files ( in jumpspl.zip) to the root directory of the prophet
( JUST NEXT TO THE " \WINDOWS" FOLDER),
b. soft reset prophet,
c. run the SPL.lnk in the prophet,
d. then continue step 2 ( only 5 minutes..... finish.... so cool~~~~ )
100% success ~~~~

Not about the necessity but.....
Hard SPL takes 3.5 minutes to flash completely,
but the old method......... PVtemp + Upgrade = ~30minutes....
just about the efficiency and the convenience... ^_^

Ok, let's put it in another way:
If our Prophet has IPL/SPL 2.××, just do SoftSPL before flash new WM6 Rom.
No need to flash HardSPL.
Is it not simple?

1. After flashing hardSPL for g3 ( step 1) all went ok.
then BEFORE flashing/upgrading your Prophet to WM6,
please copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of
your G3 Prophet ( JUST NEXT TO THE " \WINDOWS" FOLDER,
(attachached, pease unzip and copy then paste)
2. UNPLUG YOUR DEVICE from PC,
3. Execute the SPL shortcut IN THE DEVICE, then you see a all bright or white screen,
Then plug back the USB port ( connect to computer) the device, THEN use the Rom Upgrade Utility (RUU) to the rom you like ( all activities can only be seen in the PC screen, nothing will be shown on the prophet....
4. Finally, after 100% ( at 85% may take to wait a bit longer, just be
patient, as it may look like hang for about 2 minutes) just wait, all will went
ok AND OF COURSE, after it auto-restart, ALL will be OKOKOK !!!
( better hard-reset for once more )

No, HardSPL is not needed to flash back to WM5 Rom.
Just put the Prophet into bootloader(Tri-color screen) and take RUU of WM5 Rom, will surely succeed, anytime.
How do you put spljump files to windows folder on the device when only the USB synchro mode (Red Green Blue screen) is displaying ?

, or you cannot flash new methods,

Yea, I must agree with Eqancy. Tried your method several times, the SPL says just what is should (2.G3.4PDA) but bootloader kicks in every time and nothing seems to work any longer.
Seems like I must be back to the old method.

I had earlier IPL 1.0 only that but rom was G4 version.
and it was very slowly.

but after this upgrade I can nothing to upgrade

I did the HardSPL and then tried to upgrade to Crystal v5.1 but after going through the steps as I understand them to be, my 818pro just gets stuck at the Red-Green-Blue bars screen with the following 2 lines of text and it won't go anywhere else.
IPL 1.00
SPL 2.20
And then I read through and found someone posted a link to get IPL to 2.20 which I installed and now the Red-Green-Blue bars screen has the following 2 lines.
IPL 2.20
SPL 2.20
I don't know what I can do next. Does anyone have the utility to flash it back to Dopod 818pro original ROM so I may try to upgrade to Crystal v5.1 from scratch again? What solution is there there to get my phone functioning again.

You didn't install HardSPL the right way, otherwise it should say:
SPL 2.G3.4PDA
So, just start all over again! BTW you have to run JumpSPL first before you can install HardSPL. To make things easier HMA4 created a .bat file that takes care of all the steps at once. You will find detailed instruction in the HardSPL thread and the New Upgrade Guide.
What I did was run hma4's .bat file. I don't know what went wrong but now I can't just run that .bat file to install again because I'm stuck at the RGB screen and the .bat execution just says

you can download any "STEP1" connect your PDA with the bootloader screen and install it, it should be fine...if you still having issues, go ahead and download my ROM from the below link..its about 90 MB..you should have WinRar installed on your XP, download both files in one directory then right click one of them and select "Extract here" it is a shipped I mate Jamin G4 rom with Arabizer...it will replace the 3 splash screen, the Radio and reformate your PDA , BTW it does not check VID so no issue with any G4 (if you are using a G4 prophet this WILL SOLVE THE ISSUE ), when you are done...start from scratch with that BAT file.
* i assume you know how to flush roms

the closest one is QTEK rom which can be found in XDA-wiki but the boot screen shows "QTEK" font in it,, but i want it to be "DOPOD"(somethin like the original boot screen)..anyone has link to this pls tell me..thanks

Thank loads! That IS the solution.
So, after first succesefull flash of my tytn I took friends mda vario 2 to do the same. And bricked it!!!
Because of first unsuccesefull flash when I downloaded RUU_inside.nbh file into HardSPL7 directory. So, I connected vario and started RUU_wrapper. BUT in a next few seconds I realised that I am upgrading ROM instead of HARDSPL-ing File inside was from DopodAsia WWE.
Upgrade stared, in a 30minutes it stucked in 24% and I disoconnected PDA. After that it stucked in bootloader! SPL 2.03!
I tried to do HardSPL after-no help. I tried to install ATT Stripped ROM- error on 1%. I downloaded official WM 5.0 GER - no help again.
Few more attempts of flashing HARDSPL, and ROM-s via RUU-wrapper didnt help eather. THEN JUST SOFTRESET: I saw dopod bootsplash screen, and windows started normally!!! I couldnt believe, because I was prepparing to do that complicated procedure of unbricking.
After starting windows I just did HARDSPL and ATT stripped ROM: All OK UNLESS GSM!
Is it possible to fix??

I was in a hurry, so I just connected PDA and start wrapper. I shocked when a I saw wrong .nbh file, but it was too late. But luckely it looks like new ROM was partly OK and I was able to start WM, then flash HardSPL and WM correctly.
Both hermes are working fine.
P.S. I would like someone to put simple guide for people who only want to change their ROM to simple WWE, and have some experience.
1. Download HardSPL7 and unzip to folder on PC
2. Download ATT ROM and unzip to different folder on PC
3. Connect via ActiveSync
4. Start RUU wrapper from HardSPL folder and follow instructions
5. See if you flashed correctely (in a bootloader must be 2.10.01olipro in SPL)
6. If its OK than reset, start WM on PC, connect via ASync and start RUU-wrapper FROM ATT ROM folder, choose autodetect or SPL you have seen in bootloader screen - accept everything....Wait for 10min and enjoy in ENG ROM!
