can lobby work with navman spin 100?? - HTC Monet

Hi All
Does the lobster work with the Navman spinn 100 or is it a myth, I NO I No that i should be running the TT V5.2 and as i write this message, 1 is winging its way to me via the magnificient men or women at ebay, and yes it is the benelux version and iv already got the update patch sitting idle on the pc and i have the bt receiver... so y u ask am i asking if the Navman can actually work.... well expensive lesson to learn is,,a fool and his money are easily parted,, I am the proud owner of this such device and im slightly bemuzzed by trying to convert the info on the huge memory card into the idel biddy micro SD, it seems that Navman data has an absolute refusal to comply with Lobby and iv had 2 many hours wasted trying to make this work, iv searched the interweb and surcumed to this very informative XDA page.. Is there any 1 who can remedy this situation or should i just wait for Tommy???

Relax, the spin 100 works with the lobster. The Navman software DOES NOT, so yeah you'll have to wait for TomTom.
Pair the Navman with your phone - it'll show up as a question mark in the bluetooth devices list, but don't worry about that.
When you start TomTom, it'll fail to find the GPS - again, don't worry about that. Go into the preferences, and find the GPS status page - you have to select 'use other bluetooth GPS' from there before it will find the Navman.
Once you've done all that you're good to go.

Ta Pistol
Finally got the tt5 and all is good.

If anyone has this, PLEASE let me know. I can't seem to find it and have to downgrade from the rom image posted this morning. I can provide space for you to upload it. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon.
is it what are you looking for?
ruu113sku1.zip
No, i'm looking for the upgrade that, until yesterday, was at clubimate. The update that they posted today broke Ostia on my device, and I need to downgrade to get it back.
i think that i have it as well... have to check my another HD
where you want me to post it for you if I will find it?
See the private message I'll be sending you in a moment. Thanks!
Can you also send me a link to the ROM as well? I also upgraded to 1.66.00, but my GPS no longer works.
Trent
It is currently loading to your FTP
TO TRSC
I do not have a space on my FTP to send you a link... you should ask for it from dadarkmcse...
I am planning to upgrade to 1.66 within next 15-20 minutes... If you are looking to donwgrade - is it mean it is so bad or something just not working for you specifically?
Paul
Once its uploaded, it will be at http://bugjr.com/xda/ for as long as needed. The reason I'm downgrading is:
1. Pharos Ostia is closing when I try to use my SD GPS - I believe its fighting with the serial bluetooth for Com 4.
2. My GPRS hasn't worked all day, but I think this may be another issue as I've tried other ROMs.
Jon.
OK.. it is completed...
Did I understood correctly? you have Secure Digital GPS? I was thinking to buy it... still cannot make a decision
Is it good? Where did you buy it and with what kind of maps it is coming with?
I have one (and an extra i'm selling on ebay right now for $200 - see http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&category=64371&sspagename=STRK:MESSE:IT&rd=1 I see you're in canada, and I'd ship up there eventhough my listing says US only, if you're interested.). I have used it with Pharos's Ostia program and, as long as you have a clear view of the sky, it works nicely. In cars it needs to be as far forward on the windshield as possible to maintain a lock, but walking around outside it can maintain a lock just fine. I purchased mine for about $244 from Harmony Computers, and it took 3 weeks to ship (it was really annoying, resulting in me making numerous calls) so make sure they have it in stock and ready to ship whereever you buy.
THank you
let me see what is it and read reviews specifically on this model...
Get back to you in case will deside to buy it...
One thing for sure - i am planning to use ONLY in the car - i do not need it otherwise...
Thanks Jon, you have saved the day.
Let this be a warning to anyone with a bluetooth GPS...
Don't go near 1.66.00WWE until proper bluetooth serial support is introduced...
As I replied to carrierdevices:
When clubimate.com post new versions on the ROM (1.66.00WWE) on their web site, could they:
1. Make sure that the previous version is still available (and listed)
2. Tell people (who may own NAVMAN GPS devices) that the Bluetooth serial support is still not perfect, and maybe they should not consider upgrading until the full serial bluetooth stack is delivered, that allows you to choose a COM port to which a bluetooth device is paired - just like Pocket Bluetooth Tools 1012.

GPS and 1.66.00WWE
THANK YOU ALL for posting the 1.52 ROM "update". I just purchased my iMATE and it came shipped with 1.66.00WWE and radio version 1.10. I purchased (the next day), a Royaltek BlueGPS receiver based on rav reviews, only to find out that I could bond to the iMATE, but couldn't get it to handshake with the iMATE (no blue light on the GPS, no software recognition of the device).
I then researched, and found all over the web, that 1.66.00WWE doesn't work with GPS, and that the Pocket Bluetooth Tools app that Tobias put out still doesn't help.
Then I found out that this will work with 1.52 and the above app. Problem was, until I found this forum with the link, I couldn't find 1.52 ANYWHERE!
THANK YOU ALL! Now, if anyone wants to... can you tell me what I'm going to "lose" by going to 1.52 (ie, what did 1.66 supposedly fix/improve?).
-Kevin.
I spoke too soon
Well, I just d/l'd and tried to install the 1.52 "downgrade" on my iMATE.
It got to the point of "Erasing ROM", sat there for a few minutes, and then aborted out... the screen flashed so fast, I couldn't see what it said. Then, when I tried to rerun it, I got:
"ERROR 100: MODEL ID ERROR 8-N-PH-PH-PH
The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your pocketpc. Please check the vendor website and download the correct rom update."
Scared the crap outta me... fortunately, I was able to use the 1.66 upgrade to restore back to 1.66.
Did any of you have this problem?
-Kevin.
I already saw this kind of messages on forum. It was said that 1.66 is not downgradable.... i am not sure if it is true, since I downgraded from I-Mate 1.66 to O2 1.60

PLEASE HELP, complete newbie need help with gps setup.

Hello I have just purchased an 02 xda not the 2 or anything just the xda. The reason behind buying it was to have a cheap sat nav kit as I'm not very rich unfortunately.
However, I dont have the first clue as to how to set it up, the guy gave me tom tom 3 on an mmc card. Said I need a gps receiver or something like that. I am willing to buy one but dont know which one and why and whats compatible.
Also someone else said I can run it off gprs but after reading up that doesnt seem to be very accurate so want to go gps. Do I need a gps antenna? Not sure what that is but told I need it if I dont have one.
Could someone please run me through the procedure of how to set it up as a sat nav. I'm more than happy just to use it as tom tom 3, but want to know what additional kit do I need.
Thanks.
Imran
Hi
Dig more on internet about that. You'll find step-by-steps.
First thing you need is a GPS receiver (cable or bluetooth one).
Just ask the seller if it works with XDA I. (Cable connector).
As far as I know XDA I has bluetooth ? You can but bluetooth GPS then (more expensive, but wireless and works with any BT palmtop for sure).
The rest of configuration is easy and is describes in TomTom help or/and GPS manual.
Good luck.
Hello, thanks for the reply. Did do some advice and done some digging about, so now where I stand is, I have ordered a gps receiver with the correct cable for my XDa. It surprisingly doesnt have bluetooth so couldnt get the bluetooth receiver.
Have got tom tom 5 navigation software, now should be ready to go.
Imran
Hope you have ordered a splitter cable, as the receiver needs power supply. TomTom Navigator 5 will work fine on a XDA I. Use only a headset when you'r on a motorbike, it is sufficient for navigation.

Navman GPS

I've been looking at getting a bluetooth GPS receiver for my Wizard for a while now, but I haven't been able to find anything that I really want to buy. I know there are several other topics on GPS in the forum, but all the solutions suggested seem to be American websites (or at least all priced in dollars) and being from the UK this isn't much help. I've stumbled across a receiver/software bundle on a site, and it's very cheap, but I'm not sure if it will be any good or even if I can use it with my wizard as the card provided is SD. Is it possible to copy the files to the miniSD in the Wizard and still work?
The link is here, and if someone could take a look and let me know if they think it is ok, or if someone's tried it, please let me know!
Thanks,
Myk
P.S. I don't want to know if this receiver/software is any good compared to £300 systems or even what the best GPS combo is, because I'm not interested in spending that kind of money yet. I just wanna know if this will work fairly reliably so I can get a cheap GPS set-up to test how useful I find it before I spend loads on one
I just bought my first GPS unit and it is and it was under a hundred dollars US.....and I feel that it is acurate as can be.....so from what i've read about that unit it seems it will be just fine for you t use for quite awhile....Plus you will be able to use it with any new phone you get...
Software activation...
Ok, so I bought the receiver I mentioned. Since the software comes on an SD card, and the wizard only takes miniSD cards, I copied everything across and the program installed fine. But then when I try to run it, it asks me to insert the original SD card to activate the software.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this? I can use some other software (possibly) with the receiver if I can't get it to work, but it's not as good as the Navman software seems to be.

Pioneer DEH-P9800BT CD Receiver with Bluetooth

I have the thing basically working. I am also getting a Vox 710s to try as well.
My primary concern at this point is auto connect. I am a consultant and get in an out of the car a lot. So it is pointless if I have to click the stereo 6 times each time I get in. I need the thing to just work. I may return the deck if I can't get it too work.
So I need to find out where the failure is. Then I can pursue it with the manufacturer. Why can't this stuff just work?
So if I find a bluetooth headset that does auto connect to the phone do you think that is enough I can't got to pioneer and say the problem is your deck?
If the head set doesn't auto connect which I find hard to believe then I can work with jetware or cingular to see what is up. I am guessing it is the deck.
Thoughts
opps
phone is a cingular 8125 up to date roms running the latest Jetware.
another poster on crutchfeild says tmobile dash does autoconnect
does this narrow down the cause?
I spent over a month working with Pioneer and Jetware with an AVIC Z2 GPS unit with Pioneer's ND-BT1 adapter. In the end, I had to pull the Z2 and installed a Kenwood. Pioneer tech Support finally admitted that they suffer problems with nearly all PDA type phones, especially when they 'sleep'. Seems the connection is dropped nearly as fast as it is made and the devices won't stay connected. Mine dropped EVERY call when the backlight went out after 60 seconds of non-pda use. If i set time timer up to 5 minutes, it dropped the call when the PDA went to sleep. Leaving the PDA on all of the time of course drained the battery.
My wife now has the HTC Touch in her car with the AVIC Z2 and the ND-BT1, however, the problem isn't there. Pioneer has come out with a 'Service' upgrade program for the Z2 and the Touch uses a newer WM6 version. The two seem to be compatible.
thanks for the insight
Having just read the mk6000 review I don't feel so bad. I was wondering how well as system between your speakers and you deck would work.
That said I ordered an unlocked 710 (vox) to test out with wm6 and bt 2.
I am hoping this will work. Do you think I will still need Jetware?

Try it first without Jetware. It is now with at 30 day free trial and limited features but good enough to test once you get your new unit. If you find out that you need it, then register it.
I have had a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT for many months now, and I am getting sick of having to click 6 times to connect the phone. You would think that the stupid thing could perform the same thing when you turned on the car/stereo. I wish I could get a firmware update or something to fix it.
Replace your Pioneer with the one of the Sonys (MEX-5000BT if you need preouts, MEX-2500BT if you don't). I've been using the 5000 since January -- once I did the initial pairing, it connects every time both in handsfree & A2DP.

Today is the i am finally giving up with my Gear S

After messing around since christmas day trying to use my Gear S as a standalone to use for running i have finally given up and are putting up for sale . The fact that the GPS is super fast one day then no luck the next day just doesnt work for me . After the latest firmware which seemed to fix it , it now after a few days worse ? I have tested and tested everything / rebooted / turned things off that may confuse it but still no joy . I wanted to use one simple function that when working " was superb " but standing around in the cold waiting upto 40 mins for a fix is nuts . My old method of getting first fix then making sure battery never dies doesnt always work now ? Lastly i would like to thank those who have kindly offered help on this journey vis this forum . Ebay here i come
Sorry to hear that man... I recently bought Gear S hoping to have standalone device but most of all for my all day fitness/laziness tracker. I have run just once so far with it and finding GPS fix wasn't that bad... maybe a minute of stretching and I was good to go.
Have you tried (probably you did.. silly question) reset gear in settings? Like a... reflash?
Actually, now I remember, before I went run i left Gear S on the window with GPS on just to catch position - I always did it with my previous running device - 5 y/o nokia
I have mate . Re-set a hundred times . Kept watch unaltered etc and still good and appaling days . Tried a 1000 combinations and gave up . I was happy when i bought to lose functions but it is not consistent enough for running . Best of luck !
stick with it
sorry to hear that - I've struggled with mine for a couple of weeks also, wasted $200AUS buying an incompatible Samsung phone (my stupidity), re-entered my contacts and diary events 2/3 times after having to do a hard reset / re-pairing, have been underwhelmed & frustrated by the Samsung / Galaxy / Gear ecosystem (and the quality of their phones) but I still think this is the best device in it's class
have look at LPX Studios on youtube etc
I hope Samsung, the developers and the phone providers will address some of the problems (from what I've read, best not hold your breath)
I've decided to adopt a wait and see approach - this device almost satisfies my personal use case need (phone calls & texts on my wrist - plus cool extra functions like fitness essential email replies etc) decoupled from always-on temptations to check social media notifications, personal, work & junk emails etc, & to reduce the personal & financial costs of data consumption
I've not experienced "it just doesn't bloody work" - but I understand your frustrations.
I'm like "it's really great but yes it is a bit sh!te". I don't want to learn or be locked into yet another ecosystem but imho the Gear S has been worth a degree of patience / perseverance
in your use case fitness scenario (forgive me if i misread) I think the device does a half-decent job which is probably enough good enough. Why would you need GPS? Apologies if I've confused you with someone else whose UCS was to be able to send discrete messages to friends and family during meetings - but again thats the joy of a smart watch over a smartphone - one can't tap away so one won't tap away
If I can buy an apple watch with a simcard, and a macbook air with a simcard then i'm in, but I don't think thats going to happen. (I think i read some of the newer iPads in some locations have some kind of universal Sim but I don't want an iPad - I need a laptop & a phone and see the obvious use case for a watch phone - current minimal number of devices 3 .... ideal number 1 - the laptop workhorse - (I wear a wristwatch anyway) So I can check emails & notifications later at home or back at work tomorrow if I really need to - the untethered device is retro liberation from contemporary distraction
What I'd really like would be an old school Toshiba Toughbook (the one with a handle and strap), dual sim card slots, 2 massive hot-swappable hard drives & batteries and a Toshiba Smart Watch (with a sim) - I think they had something like that (without the watch) .... so your briefcase is your computer and your phone is your watch - versus say having get out your iPhone iPad & everything else at the airport or simply going for a coffee (but then I'd still have to go back to Windows and relearn that in its latest iteration)

Hi . I need the GPS to track and moniter my runs . I dont have a phone paired with this and as i said . When it works its spot on but usually it just doesnt pick a GPS fix unless i wait upto 30 mins . This applies to wherever i am ? Since i started this thread the bloody thing is now working ? Still selling it . Having to try again and again is madness
GPS is very handy when running. If it wouldn't work I would be &**&
My medieval Nokia works with endomondo + gps so why newest toy which is worth x20 more (seriously) wouldn't?
Even if I wouldn't need it, for it's price it must work - I payed for it! And its also what Samsung promised.
Although, the thing is that... it works for everyone else. So maybe you have a defective one? Warranty? :good:
Its a South Korean one from Ebay . I actually believe its not technically defective . Other users reported dodgy GPS for serious runners . I did contact Samsung UK service and they are not interested in non European models . I really think for runners its simply not upto the job . However i could be wrong .......
I just got my gear s last week and I agree the gps sucks. I love everything else it does but to botch gps on a fitness tracker is a real stumble on their part.
Sorry to hear your bad experience, I've had mine with my note 4 and everything has been good for me. After the latest update I did completely uninstall and reinstall and it's been pretty awesome with good battery.
Hi . So are you saying when not paired and working standalone that your GPS works fine when running ?
Thanks
I agree the GPS takes forever on the S Health app to connect. I'm not giving mine up tho because I'm a bit of a Samsung fanboy and love all their products.
Have anyone tried to run without GPS on? It should count steps as a run + more less give you a distance.
I bought the Gear S for the same reason: I wanted something with GPS to track my runs, plus a Sim card slot so I don't have to run with my phone any more, and BT, so I can listen to audio over my LG Tone Plus.
(I actually also needed something with a camera and full Android, so I can put some apps I use for running on it., which is why I ended up buying a Galaxy Gear and flashing Null on it.)
I agree that the Gear S GPS does not always work and I am really mad standing around in the freezing snow waiting for the signal to lock.
On my last few runs, I had to run without GPS because no amount of waiting made a difference. On one run, the signal came on but only after 30 mins or so. It's really infuriating, but, as someone else said, there no competition in this space.
I have been thinking about trying my luck with an Android Chinese watch-phone from aliexpress, but who knows if the battery on any of those would last me through a run with GPS, phone, mobile data and BT on.
Anyhow, Tim, if you find something better, it would be great of you could post here. It sounds like we have the same use case for it.

Nike plus
Guys, have you tried to run with Nike Plus app? Is it better with GPS in this app in comparison with S? How is synchro after finish the run then right to Nike plus server- any problems? Can someone compare GPS accuracy between Garmin Fenix and Gear S? I' m on the edge of decision wheter to go with Gear S. I need it primary for running and standalone SIM activities as my private phone.
Thanks!

Someone over on Android Central compared it with the Fenix and other trackers. Here's the post. Since I don't use Nike+ (I don't want to have to sign up for yet another service I will forget my password for), I only ever track with S Health.
Many thanks Xendula, very useful!

Hi Xendula . Since yesterday i tried a few more attempts / tests and the reallity is this watch is ****e ( sorry Samsung Fans ) but i'm gutted . As of 20.00 pm UK time today it is on Ebay . Personally after messing around since Christmas day i cannot wait to see it go . Hopefully get a good price ? Nice talking to you guys . All the very best for the future

UK
i believe that children are the future
today i was accosted by a dozen eagle-eyed little kids (ages maybe 5-10) walking home from school (them not me) "hey mister is that thing a phone?"
I'm like "yes its a phone and a watch - let me show you the sad cat watch-face .... but you still need another samsung phone back at home, its a bit buggy, i'm told the charging cradle will break anytime soon, i don't understand the android / samsung / galaxy / tizen / gear S ecosystem, but I am a bit jaundiced by Apple, think this thing has potential and am persevering with it blah blah blah"
They were like "whatever dude - that thing is seriously cool!"
I related this little vignette to my work colleagues
" yeah see I've been telling you for the last two weeks but this is the proof - you can't fool kids - put your iPhone 6 on ebay and get one of these"
"Well you shouldn't go flashing it around - next thing one of them kids will be breaking into your house to steal it"
I'm like I wasn't flashing it around i was walking down the street just wearing it . Like any of my new six year old Galaxy S fanboys/fangirls are going to turn into cat burglers, break into my house and prize it from my wrist while I'm asleep?
I already told them "it can check how much exercise I've done, and I can wear it in bed to make sure I'm getting enough sleep - yeah like a fitbit but a phone & a watch too "
until Apple or Motorola or Sony or whoever put a sim in their smart watch I'm keeping mine
ideally i think more laptops should come with a sim card slot too
I''m disappointed i still need a proper phone to make the Gear S work, but would in practice still need one anyway for tethering the laptop when not at home. I'm no expert but would not a simcard in the laptop offer big battery and big ariel advantages compared to phone tethering ? (no i don't want to carry round or have a dongle sticking out - that's the point)
Several astute reviewers have commented positively on the back-to-the-future retro simplicity of the smartwatch concept as implemented by the Samsung Gear S (whilst highlighting problems in the current execution of that - as also clearly highlighted on these forums & elsewhere) Whatever
"after a few days I was really liking the freedom of not checking my emails & notifications every 5 minutes"
Imagine the freedom of a smartwatch connected (if necessary) to your laptop or whatever other larger device - phablet, iPad or whatever you use for work or pleasure. That's like two devices not 3 or more (smartphone, work phone, tablet, kindle, laptop etc) - in fact actually only one extra thing to carry if / when you need to because the phone is like already on your wrist.
Advantages
• Less economically zero-sum consumer consumption
The guy on the production line gets nothing. I pay several hundred dollars for the device, it jumps out of my pocket and i pay another guy in a mall $150 to fix the screen. Am i contributing to some kind of trickle-down / trickle-up dissipation or redistribution of wealth?
maybe locally to the screen-fixer and his family.
There is (but wasn't always) built in obsolescence in technology but designed to break technology is a really big con that is not (like indeed BIO) an inevitable or essential feature of capitalism & global trade.
To use an obvious example & pertinent example
I think I can understand Mr Steve Jobs drive & achievement in coming back (I'll show them [email protected]) and making Apple the biggest company in the world - but at what price?
Wage slaves in Asia committing suicide in Hi-tech sweat shops.
Drive down margins like everyone else, create the most expensive have-to-have consumer devices ever, choose form over function, lock people into an ecosystem originally justified by quality and consistency considerations now simply a lock-in. Make things designed to break.
Ok he was an ex-hippy not a socialist - he couldn't change the world but might have eventually leveraged his personal power and that of his company maybe a little more e.g.
"I believe our products are great and worth the money - they are not produced in sweatshops in Asia. The suicide rate amongst our subcontracted workers is no higher than the local average and we insist the wages are substantially better. We are not Nike (or whoever) we are Apple."
Sorry the iPhone and iPad screens shatter so easily - that wasn't the case with my first iPhone iteration.
