Recover from bad flash - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I've tried a search but couldn't find anything that'd help me so...
I've just flashed my phone and it completed fine, rebooted and stuck on the first splash screen. Tried a soft reset and it stuck on the Windows Mobile splash screen, 5 mins later it's still there...
I've got HardSPL7 installed, so how can I flash the previous Rom I was using back onto the phone?
Ta
Off to have another search while I wait

Copy your chosen ROMs .nbh file to the root of your SD card and rename it to hermimg.nbh. Reset device in to bootloader and it should detect the hermimg.nbh and instruct you to press ther Power buton to update. Sometimes you need to go into bootloader a few times before it picks it up.

See WIKI here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing

It is a good thing you have HardSPL v7 installed.
When this happened to me a while back, the best way to recover for me was to extract and copy the OS's .NBH file to the root of my SD card (formatted as FAT32) and naming it HERMIMG.NBH.
If you go into the boot screen (Pwr + OK + SR), you will get a prompt to start flashing the image. After the flash, my device was OK.
I am now using this method every time I flash my OS.
EDIT: Seems Maaron beat me to it.

Thanks guys, now re-flashing to my previous rom.
Was surprisingly easy
Yeah it was lucky I've got HardSPL, glad I put it on
Again ta for the hlep

I first used the SD method to fix a bad flash but now I use it evey time. It seems to flash much quicker this way and it doesn't matter what OS you have on your PC, whether you have incompatible USB controller, version of Activesync etc etc...

Had to do the radio the same way as it still wouldn't boot, but now back in action.
Ta

Good thread w/ information. I too am glad that I flashed HardSPL on my device as well

Out of interest, does the SD card have to be blank except for the image? Or can I just bung the .nbh on there and flash with loads of other stuff on the card?
Ta

The WIKI mentions to copy the nbh file on to a blank SD card but I have found it to work on my card containing numerous files and folders as long as it is in the root of the card.

I have tried that wicki (I was using schnaps and it has for some reason failed on booting after 2 weeks working fine...)
When i press the ok, power and reset buttons it takes me to a screen with red/green/blue/white bars (4 of them) showing
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-1.40.Olipro
I have done a flash of the SPL to http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php...ask=view&id=38&Itemid=26&limit=1&limitstart=2
I did this and it said it was successful 2 weeks ago!
What can I do? Help!!!
EDIT: Did a hard reset by pushing the button above the start button, button above the ok button and hitting the reset with the stylus. This seems to have fixed the issue, but what worries me is that apparently hardspl v7 is not on there! :|

Frozen Startup Screen

I attempted to use SSK 2.6 R4R Gen.Y Edition Default Kitchen from
HTML:
http://www.sskusers.net/
on my phone earlier. It seemed like everything was going fine, until I was taken to the startup screen. It was frozen, and there was red writing at the bottom of the screen.
Because the phone is stuck on that screen, when I try to connect to ActiveSync, it doesn't recognize any USB devices.
I did try removing the battery. The phone turns off, obviously, but when I turn it back on, I'm back at the frozen startup screen again.
I have also tried doing a soft reset, and the hard reset. When I do a hard reset, it takes me to the bootloader screen, and lets me do everything, but when it reboots, I just end up in the same place I was before - with a frozen startup screen.
Any suggestions on what to do, and/or what could have caused it?
Just wanted to add:
I have Verizon, and did do the hard spl using Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035, which I got from

Reflash a different ROM through usb from the bootloader.
dwizzy130
i would suggest flashing a new rom or maybe going back to stock first & then trying a new rom. i would say the most important part right now would be flashing from the bootloader. put the nbh file on the sd card using a media reader & then pop it back in the phone & flash it. thats the easiest way & wouldn't take but 10 minutes to accomplish. i wouldn't be too worried you should be fine. feel free to get at me privately if you need some help.
Help
If you installed Hspl then just hold volume down and power and press the soft reset key. it will reboot into the bootloader and will recognize via usb. Hope this helps. I had a endless loop when i tried flashing to energyrom and this got me back to mightyrom. u may want to try it http://www.mightyrom.com

HELP - Cannot boot phone!

Hey
I tried flashing my rom to 1.66 from the MicroSD, but something has gone wrong and now my phone will not boot at all. I've tried taking the microSD card out of the phone but it still wont boot, it just shows a triangle with an exclamation mark! Please help!
Many Thanks
put the SD inside the phone again, push the red bottom to reset the phone and keep the vol down pressed and try to flash again..
Did you install HSPL?
If so, don't install HTC Official ROM's from SD card unless:
1) the ROM is for you region/operator (CID)
2) you're using a gold card to flash (I think)
Flashing official ROM's from MicroSD will overwrite the HSPL with the normal HTC SPL. With the regular SPL in place, the ROM you flash has to be for your region/operator, or it won't flash/boot normally.
Solution: reflash HSPL, and install the 1.66 ROM over USB (the HSPL doesn't allow itself to be overwritten over USB, if I remember correctly).

Pure or Diamond2 -AT&T Boot Screen .nbh File

Hola,
Was wondering if anyone or a chef could post a ATT_SPLASH.nbh file so I can get a stock boot screen vs the HTC boot screen that is part of the ROM I flashed?
I do have this ATT_SPLASH.nbh form my old Fuze, but trying to flash it does not work. I ran the AT&T ROMUpdateUtility.exe and also the TopazRUUWrapper.exe file using the AT&T_SPLASH.nbh, but my Pure phone gets stuck at the HardSPL screen and just sits and sits.
Thanks in advance...
m0
This is what worked for me. Rename the extracted "RUU_signed.nbh" to "topaimg.nbh" and try flashing using the storage card method by copying the renamed "topaimg.nbh" to the root of your storage card and performing a reset while holding volume down. It'll give you a wrong code error during the first run, but it'll automatically reset and complete it the second time around, and you'll have your stock boot splash screen.

[Q] Htc HD2 NOT WORKING:Screen stuck on"loading..Please wait"

I had installed Chucky rom(ChuckyROM-23136-Tabtastic.Sept.12.7z) on my htc hd2,i had also installed hspl( HSPL2_RUN.exe) around two months(in september 2010) back but i did not like it so today(25th november 2010) first i removed hspl through HSPL3_PKG.exe and put spl 2.08.0000( I DID NOT USE AN SD CARD TO FLASH THE SPL) and then flashed
Artemis_v430_0409_WWE.7z i.e RUU_Signed_0409.nbh through SSPL_RUU.exe and then it worked and was working properly but was hanging again and again so i soft reseted it two-three times and then i was installing a cab file but as soon as the installation started, it said "installation of so and so file.cab was unsuccesfull" then i tried dinik hybridia icon .cab again same thing happened so i soft reseted it and while soft reseting a complete black screen appeared and said "a program from an unrecognised software party was tried to install please press the upper volume button to reset the phone Note. you will lose all your data and the phone will completely reset itself or else press any other button to start normally" i pressed any button so it started loading normally but it has got stuck at that loading and is not doing anything after that ,
it is not connecting to the pc,the backlight of the keys is also not switching on , i have takin the video of it switching on and also of bootloader ,
what has happened to it and why is it not starting, please help?
also even after i flashed artemis gen 4 it is showing the chucky rom boot screen!
In the videos it gets stuck to where i have stopped the video and remains like that for hours(THE Video IS IN THE RAR FILE)
also i have warranty left so can i get it repaired by warranty???
PLEASE HELP ASAP
try a hard reset. turn the phone off, hold down both volume buttons, and turn the phone on, keeping the vol buttons held down. then when prompted, press vol up to reset it.
yes, you'll lose any data and modifications on your phone, it will be back to how it was right after you flashed it, but at least it will start up. better than how it is now, right?

What an utterly unfortunate situation!! Couple of questions/remarks:
1. Did you install HTC 3.14 ROM with your S/N from HTC's website before flashing Artemis?
2. You already removed HSPL, so I would advice to extract the 3.14 RUU file to your desktop and copy the custom.nbh file to your SD Card after having it renamed to leoimg.nbh (insert SD CArd into PC to do that).
3. Reinsert SD card in device and enter bootlader mode and the installation of 3.14 should start automatically.
4. After that download Artemis 43 and extract it to the folder where you're SSPL_RUU,exe resides. Bothe the custom.nbh and the SSPL file must be in the same folder!
6. Start SSPL_RUU and flash Artemis
7. After that first a hard reset and then a soft reset.
Also read page 1 - Flashing notes
This should to it for you,

P.S. I posted this also in Artemis thread

i've got the same problem, but i didn't install the rom artemis,
i restart the installation many time but i've got always the same problem

[Q] Liberated Aria won't boot

A few weeks ago, I decided to install Liberated Aria. I had a few problems with the installation, but eventually it ended up working fine. Last night, I turned my phone off and turned it back on this morning, but now it won't boot. When I turn the phone on, I get:
LIBERTY PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.57.0000
MICROP-031b
TOUCH PANEL-STN 21_00
RADIO-7.08.35.06
MAY 8, 2010,03:56:58
FASTBOOT
and then the options:
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
When I try to boot into recovery, I eventually get:
SD Checking. . .
Loading . . .[LIBEDIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading. . . [LIBEDIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading. . . [LIBEIMG.zip]
No image!
Loading. . . [LIBEIMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image.
and the options change to:
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
The only problem is that I can't select any of the options. None of the buttons - volume, power, whatever - change or select anything. I can't get past either of these screens. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this kind of thing, so any help would be appreciated.
The phone will automatically boot into FASTBOOT mode if you hold down the trackpad button while pressing the power button. Is it possible that your trackpad button is broken and is being registered as held down? Try messing with it to see if you can fix it. Otherwise you may have to get the phone replaced if it's under warranty.
This issue does not sound like it is related to installing Liberated Aria.
The trackpad button feels the same as it always has when I click it and I don't see anything visibly wrong with it, so I don't see why it would be registered it as clicked. I tried pushing it and all the other buttons a number of times with the same results. I even took off the screen protector thinking maybe that was causing a problem. Is there a way I can just put an image on my SD card and have it automatically boot that so I can fix it?
Doesn't installing a custom bootloader and/or ROM void the warranty?
Well, you probably will be able to simply run the 2.1 RUU on your phone since you can get to FASTBOOT. I'd probably recommend that over doing the SD card method because when you do the SD card method, you have to press a couple buttons to confirm actions which may not work if your phone isn't accepting button presses. The RUU method does not involve any button presses on the phone itself.
However if you want to try the SD card method I can point you in the right direction.

Installing a custom bootloader would for sure, but you don't have a custom bootloader. Installing a custom ROM does, but you can reverse the process (via RUU) so they can't really tell.
I downloaded the 2.1 RUU, booted to recovery, connected my phone to my computer, and tried to run the RUU but it gave me a USB connection error. Windows also gave me a USB device not recognized error. My phone does say HBOOT USB PLUG, though. Aside from HTC Sync, do I need another driver?
Do you still have the HBOOT driver installed from when you used Unrevoked? If so you should uninstall that driver I believe. That might be interfering.
Also trying running the RUU when your phone is in FASTBOOT, not HBOOT, to see if that works.
I did have the HBOOT driver still installed. I uninstalled it from device manager and deleted the driver folders. Android Phone doesn't show up in device manager anymore. I retried running the RUU in HBOOT and tried running it in FASTBOOT and still get the USB connection error. Any other ideas?
Try reinstalling HTC sync
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Also try doing it on a different computer if you have access to one. Preferably one that never had any drivers on it before. Just install HTC Sync, then run the RUU, that's it.
I've always had trouble getting the RUU to run. It's bizarre.
If that doesn't work, and you still want to try the SD card method, you can download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?ct1ay7t93d8g742
Rename the zip file to LIBEIMG.zip then place it on the SD card. Then it should automatically detect the file next time you're in HBOOT and ask you if you want to proceed with the install. It's pretty self explanatory. Be patient as some steps take a while and it may appear like nothing is happening. It takes about 5 minutes to finish installing everything and will reboot once during the process. After it's done (it will tell you when it's done), the phone will reboot and there will be a scary looking screen but JUST WAIT about 10 seconds and it will boot normally. Then you're good to go.
After you're done with this, make sure to DELETE the LIBEIMG.ZIP file from your SD card. Otherwise it will ask you every time you go into HBOOT if you want to apply the update.
I reinstalled HTC Sync and it wouldn't recognize the phone was connected.
It seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Now, it won't even turn on. The screen turns on (but stays black) and off and the notification light flashes red when connected to a computer but won't do anything at all when it's not connected. I'll try to plug it into a wall instead of a computer and let it charge for a while and try the SD card method.
I went in today to get it checked out and got a new SIM card and a new battery and it fixed the problem.
Thanks a ton for all the help.
