HELP - Cannot boot phone! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey
I tried flashing my rom to 1.66 from the MicroSD, but something has gone wrong and now my phone will not boot at all. I've tried taking the microSD card out of the phone but it still wont boot, it just shows a triangle with an exclamation mark! Please help!
Many Thanks

put the SD inside the phone again, push the red bottom to reset the phone and keep the vol down pressed and try to flash again..

Did you install HSPL?
If so, don't install HTC Official ROM's from SD card unless:
1) the ROM is for you region/operator (CID)
2) you're using a gold card to flash (I think)
Flashing official ROM's from MicroSD will overwrite the HSPL with the normal HTC SPL. With the regular SPL in place, the ROM you flash has to be for your region/operator, or it won't flash/boot normally.
Solution: reflash HSPL, and install the 1.66 ROM over USB (the HSPL doesn't allow itself to be overwritten over USB, if I remember correctly).

Recover from bad flash

I've tried a search but couldn't find anything that'd help me so...
I've just flashed my phone and it completed fine, rebooted and stuck on the first splash screen. Tried a soft reset and it stuck on the Windows Mobile splash screen, 5 mins later it's still there...
I've got HardSPL7 installed, so how can I flash the previous Rom I was using back onto the phone?
Ta
Off to have another search while I wait
Copy your chosen ROMs .nbh file to the root of your SD card and rename it to hermimg.nbh. Reset device in to bootloader and it should detect the hermimg.nbh and instruct you to press ther Power buton to update. Sometimes you need to go into bootloader a few times before it picks it up.
See WIKI here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing
It is a good thing you have HardSPL v7 installed.
When this happened to me a while back, the best way to recover for me was to extract and copy the OS's .NBH file to the root of my SD card (formatted as FAT32) and naming it HERMIMG.NBH.
If you go into the boot screen (Pwr + OK + SR), you will get a prompt to start flashing the image. After the flash, my device was OK.
I am now using this method every time I flash my OS.
EDIT: Seems Maaron beat me to it.
Thanks guys, now re-flashing to my previous rom.
Was surprisingly easy
Yeah it was lucky I've got HardSPL, glad I put it on
Again ta for the hlep
I first used the SD method to fix a bad flash but now I use it evey time. It seems to flash much quicker this way and it doesn't matter what OS you have on your PC, whether you have incompatible USB controller, version of Activesync etc etc...
Had to do the radio the same way as it still wouldn't boot, but now back in action.
Ta
Good thread w/ information. I too am glad that I flashed HardSPL on my device as well
Out of interest, does the SD card have to be blank except for the image? Or can I just bung the .nbh on there and flash with loads of other stuff on the card?
Ta
The WIKI mentions to copy the nbh file on to a blank SD card but I have found it to work on my card containing numerous files and folders as long as it is in the root of the card.
I have tried that wicki (I was using schnaps and it has for some reason failed on booting after 2 weeks working fine...)
When i press the ok, power and reset buttons it takes me to a screen with red/green/blue/white bars (4 of them) showing
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-1.40.Olipro
I have done a flash of the SPL to http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php...ask=view&id=38&Itemid=26&limit=1&limitstart=2
I did this and it said it was successful 2 weeks ago!
What can I do? Help!!!
EDIT: Did a hard reset by pushing the button above the start button, button above the ok button and hitting the reset with the stylus. This seems to have fixed the issue, but what worries me is that apparently hardspl v7 is not on there! :|

[Q] Bootloader Problem

Hi all,
I have searched all over and can't figure out what is my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have TMO US H2. I've been trying to flash my phone for a few hours to no avail. I have tried to flash a few different ROMs via ActiveSync and I get an error saying it lost connection after it tries to access the bootloader. I then tried to flash it via the SD card, but can't get past the tri color screen, even with a signed ROM.
The tri-color screen shows the following:
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.00.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
Cotulla aHSPL 0x50
Can anyone tell me why I can't seem to get past this screen when trying to flash a ROM?
Sounds like a task for task29. Search for it in this forum, and after you perform it - load a proper rom to your device.
I tried task29 but when it gets to the bootloader it gets stuck on the tricolor screen and says USB at the bottom, just like all the other times I tried to flash it. I get the following error message:
Error [302] - Update Error
The ROM update utility has encountered communication errors during the update process. The program will guide you step-by-step to recover from the errors so you can continue with the update.
What am I doing wrong? I keep seeing this error message every time.
so you can't even load a ROM from the sd card? that eliminates a bad usb.
You put a Rom image on the root of your sd card (usually needs to be 8gb or smaller). You make sure it is named LEOIMG.nbh. While pressing in the reset button (by the battery), you hold down the volume down button. Your phone should go into bootloader (tricolored) momentarily, then switch to a grey screen that asks if you want to update. press power for yes or vol up? for no. You press the red (phone call end button) and it errors? Is this what happens?
many people report the supplied 16gb card doesn't work for flashing.
for usb flashing, enter bootloader manually. wait for serial to become usb, and then run the flash.
im having the same problem. i have hardspl, i falshed a radio 2.07.50 just fine, then i tried flashing the rom via computer, the bootloader screen would not display the grey coloured screen where you 'update image' and it said lost connection on my computer. I then tried the sd card way, LEOIMG.nbh, same result - no grey screen to 'update image'

HELP plz help!!!!

[Q] HELP NEEDED HD2 unable to boot after flash rom wrongly

Hi guys, I'm now in a serious problem...I'm using a stock ROM but tried to flash to WM7 and here the nightmare began.
now the problem is that...I can't boot the phone, only show "HTC", can't even see the "quietly brilliant"..I tried to flash back to the stock rom but I noticed that there are no USB connection with the PC, I tried hard rest using the volume key but same things happened.
so anybody able to help me? thanks a lot!
Try to flash the stock ROM with the SD card method (you can find a description in the stickies of the ROM forum).
The error you describe sometimes comes when you have a wrong Radio ROM on your device.
What exactly did you do to get WP7 on your phone? Did you flash HSPL 2.08? Did you flash Radio Rom 2.15?
Did you also try
VOL DOWN + Red button??
you should she them some colorful bars if so, you could be lucky, plug in you usb cable and it should tell you "USB". Then flash your stock rom (Dont forget to run it as Administrator on your pc)
i hope you will get it back working!

[Q] Cannot get to boot screen, stuck trying to install aMAGLDR v1.13

This is what I see when I start up my phone. Can't restore factory default, and I need to figure out how to get back to original or another rom. Can't get past these screens. Have tried the master reset but to no avail. Please Help! Thanks!
Phone : HTC HD2 - Tmobile
RE: Cannot get to boot screen, stuck trying to install aMAGLDR v1.13
I suggest you get your phone back to the stock rom and start over again.
To uninstall Magldr and any Android Rom that you installed to NAND, do the following:
1. Download a Stock Rom from or a Custom Rom for the TMOUSA HD2 Rom, LEO1024 users will have to use a TMOUS compatable Stock or Custom Rom that is LEO1024 compatable).
2. Enter Bootloader Mode by taking the battery out, then put it back in and hold down the 'Volume Down' button while briefly pressing the power button.
3. After the phone enters the Bootloader Screen, plug in the usb cable so it says usb at the bottom of the screen
4. Run the Stock Roms .exe file (or run the customruu.exe file of the Custom Rom you want to flash)
* This will flash a Stock Rom and Radio while keeping your HardSPL untouched *
