i dont have gps... where can i buy one and install to my wizard

In the US/Canada, BuyGPSNow and Semsons both offer a variety of BT GPS units and software.

Try the Garmin Mobile 10 (Bluetooth)
This unit has great software! It's like having a friend along giving directions. You can use different map sets (Garmin). like topo or marine charts. It integrates with the intenet, too, so you can find resturaunts, gas stations, etc.
Pretty nifty gadget!

I agree, Garmin Mobile 10 is great! They also release updates on a regular basis, not like other companies that forget about the product once it's sold.

hardware
where i buy the hardware and how i install it im in ecuador.... but i can buy it in usa...

Put a search into Google for it, you will find a few good places to buy it. BUT.. You will need to get the detailed maps for your area. You should email Garmin to ask them what maps they have for the Mobile 10 GPS for your area. The one I got comes with the maps for USA and Canada, not Ecuador. I just went to Garmin.com, I didn’t see Ecuador listed as an available area for detailed maps. Go to www.garmin.com, and go to “contact us” then email them and ask if they have a PPC solution for Ecuador. If not, you can also see if Tomtom.com can help, go to www.tomtom.com and ask if they have maps for Ecuador.

Cheapo GPS
I purchased a cheap small footprint BT GPS that had an external antenna jack. I mounted this in the trunk of my car under the rear deck. I put the external antenna on the rear deck. I have it always powered on as the 12v is minimal. This way whenever I use the car I always have a BT GPS connection. These are so cheap now a days you can get one for each of your cars.

GPS Nav

Hi this might sound like a dumb question. But I was just wondering if I can use my imate jasjam as a navigation system to be able to get street directions I know it is possible on other PDA/Phones like the O2. Also would I have to pay as this is done via GPS on other fones which the jasjam doesn't have.
Sure you can use GPS with jasjam/Tytn.
1. Buy a 1GB or 2GB microSD card.
2. Buy PPC GPS Nav software from www.66.com or www.tomtom.com
3. Buy a Nokia LD-3W or Globalsat BT-338 bluetooth GPS receiver from eBay.
That's all you need.
Thanxs for the fast reply I have looked at the GPS receivers on ebay and they dont say the jasjam? Also do you know any software that will work in Australia?
Well I have got a Jasjam on order (been waiting 6 weeks but should be here in 2-3 days) and I have a I-Blue GPS. I also have a TomTom 6 on my IIs which runs great and has maps of the whole of Australia and you can get maps for all over the world. When I get the Jasjam I will pair it with the I-Blue and see how it goes. I will let you know how I get on. Also how are you finding your Jasjam? Also how are you finding battery life?
To be honest I got it when it first came out and I have a few issues like the keyboard not working sometimes, the fone freezeing a coulpe of times the active sync screwing up on the PDA forceing a hard reset to fix the problem. Battery lIfe not sure I listen to it on the train and it goes from 100% to 90% and this is every day so I charge it like twice a week. Also the bluetooth plays Up. I have performed 2 hard resets. But in all honestly I have learnt to live with the porblems but after a hard resset all the problems disappear. I love my JASJAM. Which also comes unlocked from TELSTRA
I am getting mine from Telstra. Thanks for the info. I take it you didn't get yours from Telstra? Because if you did I am a bit worried.
Of course I got it from TELSTRA. The guy who sold it to me said "you can expect this as it is a new product which is the first in its class". Also if they tell you that you get 2 months free internet it is not true they told me that can then i noticed by bill said $150 for data usage so I rang up and complained and got two months for free for real and also a credit on my bill Also it is pretty expensive if you dont get a data pack I only use the net on it at home on my wireless so it doesnot worry me. Just becareful of what they say
I once got hit for $200 because Journal Bar http://www.omegaone.com/journalbar/ppc/default.htm connected to the internet to update the news and I didn't realise for 9 hours and in that time it had updated 9 times!!!!!!! Because I am getting the Jasjam on a business plan it is 50c per KB so I thought that it was best to get a $29 data pack or their could be a nasty surprise on the bill. Over in the UK on T-Mobile you can get unlimited GPRS for seven pound and here it is sometimes 50c a KB!!!!!!!!! As soon as they were released I got over to the Telstra shop to look at them and to see on their pricing and I got told that I could have one included on a $50 business plan so I went away and made a appointment with the accounts manager to get a few of them and he said that it would have to be on a $70 plan and I have been waiting 6 weeks for them to get them in and they said on Thursday that they would have them in within a week so I should finally get them. So it all just goes to show that with Telstra you have to do all the research yourself or they will stuff you round.
Ok got mine on the $80 plan but the options are pretty crap. Also this fone as present can not be insured I asked for it and they said sure no probs fill in this form and we will fax it of and it will be insured for $8 a month. Then a lady ring me and say no insurance cuase it is a PDA/Phone what is the go with this?? miss informed again. Also you are unable to check the account balance on the phone form the phone for some reason or if you manage to you get charged for it whre as every other provider offers it as a free service. But telstra makes you pay for everything
I have rung the accounts manager each week to see when they will be coming in and each week he is "I don't know and don't care I have other customers to deal with bye" and that is what they are like when you have you have a business and all the mobiles with them!!!!!!!! I felt just getting them online from the USA but I was concerned about the warranty and as Telstra is the only store that sells them you are at their mercy!!!
That is kind of true you could of purchased them from 3 but they only have stock of 500 in AUS, and you have to pay for them whereas with Telstra you own them and they also come with 2yrs warranty standard. Do you know where I can buy a cheap bluetooth GPS receiver from as I want to try the GPS. I think that any bluetooth reciever will work cause all it is doing is just sending and recieving a signal. Then I just have to find the software I had it before but I lost it
All the GPS software on E-Bay http://computers.listings.ebay.com....QQfromZR4QQsacatZ64371QQsocmdZListingItemList
How much do you want to pay for the GPS? A good one is about $150 inc postage.
$150 is fine.
"For Sale - Unofficial TomTom 6 Navigation Software for Pocket PC. This software will work on any bluetooth enabled Pocket PC running windows Mobile 2002 onwards with a SD Card Slot. The Software will be delivered on cd with easy instructions on how to load it on to your memory card." Man this sounds like the guy has downloaded the sw from the net and is just selling it LOL.
Also how big are the maps and program if I need a min o 512mb I currenty have 1024 which is half full with music?? Cause others say min 256mb
Sorry about the link to the TomTom software it is unofficial so DON'T buy it I just looked at it again and realised. I am really sorry.
Nah man it is fine it is pretty funny. He should just say this is the link pay me $120 and you can dl it straight away no need to wait for it in the mail LOL
Well on my device which has maps of Aus and the program it adds up to about 100mb so if you have a 1Gb half full it should be fine.
Well I have used Destinator 5 on my IIs and it was so slow that you would be going along the highway and then you take the exit and you would have been of the highway for about 4 minutes and it still said that you were on it so I changed to TomTom 6 and I find it great.
Here is the I-Blue GPS http://cgi.ebay.com.au/i-Blue-PS-73...yZ129259QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I use the I-blue but it is the previous model but I still find it great and the battery just keeps going. I find it has great accuracy and picks the signal up very quickly. I found that TomTom only registers it if it is on COM6 so you just create a new COM port and it works fine.
That is good to know so I should go for the TomTom 6 and this is like 100mb installed. Also are the maps free to update via the net or do i have to pay to dl them. Cause there are so many ppl on ebay selling the software on flash memory

cheapest gps

does anybody know the cheapest way of getting gps on my 8525 ( it doesnt need to be bluetooth)
Google maps mobile with cell tower triangulation.
http://www.google.com/mobile/winmo/maps/
It's free.
thank you
thank you but i need gps since i am on roaming
http://www.buygpsnow.com/ is the best GPS place I've found. I've bought all of my GPS units from there, and they usually have the widest selection, and tus let you find the cheapest deals. You can get a pretty decent Bluetooth GPS with SirfStar III for about $30 bucks nowadays.
Google mylocation, does it cost data money at all because i dont have a data plan, or is it completely free?

NDrive USA

I just came across this in the Tilt2 Marketplace. $30 one time charge for a GPS navigator sounds a lot better than $10 per month to AT&T for their navigator, especially when I already have a Garmin Nuvi.
Anyone tried this program? I notice that it appears more expensive on the NDrive website than on the phone's Marketplace--60Euros vs 30 USD--so I don't know what the story is there.
Does it support Text to Speech? Does it announce street name?

CoPilot Sat-Nav

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but ALK have just released their new sat nav application Co-Pilot Premium Live (or CP9 to those that have used it before).
It's currently half price for the first week of launch.
I've no connection with ALK or CoPilot other than having used it for the last 5 years. This new version looks good on the big screen Dell, especially in landscape.
While Google is free it relies on the data link, I'd rather have the maps stored locally!
If anyone else has used it have they found out how to import their CP8 favourites yet?
is the "none car" navigation any good yet?
cp8 is appalling for working out walking/cycling options, often trying to do 10mile detours rather than use neat obvious routes.
Would also like to know.

Just bought copilot live 8, N. America and Europe maps. Is there an upgrade path? Are the maps I just bought good for the new program?
Looking at the FAQs on their page, seems like there are no upgrades available. Existing customers need to pay full price again.... this sucks...
http://www.copilotlive.com/us/support/faq-cl9.asp
Existing Customers
Can I upgrade to CoPilot Live from a previous version?
CoPilot Live is a completely new version of our software and requires a new purchase. We would love to allow existing customers to purchase the app at a reduced price, however currently the Apple app store and Android Market do not support the ability to provide a discount to existing customers. CoPilot Live is available to purchase for iPhone and iPad through iTunes and for Android through Android Market or www.copilotlive.com.

GPS app for the View?

Looking for a GPS app that has real time traffic data in the USA.
So far I've only found Navigon, but man that thing is hammered with bad reviews.
Sygis looked interesting but doesn't seem to offer traffic for USA.
Heard of CoPilot as well having an addon for real time traffic updates. I've been stuck in traffic far too often due to accidents/road damage etc when I am on my way to appointments and using google maps doesn't really help navigate around that without constant attention.
I would like to be able to just hit a button and have it re-route me around the traffic or obviously figure it out on its own and route me around the traffic without any input from me.
With Google's 30 second purchase or return policy, I'd like to get a better idea of what's out there before committing to something.
Oh, and even though I have the view, I don't have sprint 4g service, so I want to use the built in GPS chip to power whatever I end up getting.
Any suggestions on different software or any experience with Navigon/CoPilot?
Google Maps/Navigation does real-time traffic and gives you alternate routes with time estimation.
Uh....oh.
Really?
I honestly have no idea how to enable it then. I've looked all over.
Best I've been able to do is open the traffic layers. If a bunch of traffic shows up, I'm never offered alternate routes unless I manually select something and even then it's never actually a good route. When I get stuck in traffic locally I always know a better route then what Google suggests.
If I'm taking a 500 mile trip, Google maps will put me right through all the high traffic areas. If I accept their directions I lose hours of time off my trip. If I go around the traffic areas I save all types of time.
I've used dedicated GPS systems that warn you of upcoming traffic and ask you if you want an alternate route (and that would be awesome to have on the tablet).
If you are hoping for GPS with pre-downloaded maps and good "offline" support (when you don't have 3G data or WiFi), then look at Route66. It is a little different in the way it works, but you can do a free 30 day eval off the entire world's maps.
http://www.66.com/route66/
I have been checking out alot of the GPS apps out there, the 2 that caught my eye are Co-Pilot and Sygic. Both are really good and can be found for free if you look. Try those out
I use Copilot myself. I was able to purchase it cheap when it first came out. About a month ago they offered a free year of live traffic to all owners of the more expensive version. It said it was a $10 value. So that would be $15 at least, $5 for app then $10 for traffic. The better version is $20 and if they offer the free traffic yet it might be worth the extra 5.
