I installed this softkey app on both my Polaris and Nike and it works just fine. Unzip it in the windows folder, then it will appear under your settings menu, system tab. You'll have to do a soft reset once the keys are changed.
I think I snagged this from my Universal flashing days but it's stable on our units.

I'm looking the way to put the lock function/application as a soft key. But I don't know the aplication location. Ddoes somebodynknows?

i browes the registry of the wm2k5 in XDA2 O2, i figured out that that there is no registry for the camera and record button,. can we add up reg for camera and rec button
so can we? can we?
those key's registry are there.
hklm\software\microsoft\shell\keys
and those shortcuts are pointing to RAI assignments.
it would be better to write an application, which will unmap rec and cam buttons from system and remap them to itself... so if you press that button, this app will capture keypress event and will run camera or notes...

So have you tried with RegisterHotkey API? Here is a simple application that reregisters all hardware buttons to its window, and if you press hardware buttons a messagebox should pop up with hardware key id. Anybody can try it with non working buttons? ( I haven't upgraded my device yet ) I tried it on my wm2k3SE device and with Win Mobile 5 emulator in Viusal Studio 2005. ( It worked )
If it's working then I think it is possible to write an application as background process to start camera and notes application with windows API. If it's not working and doesn't show anything if you press CAM/REC, then it must be a driver issue (

It works great on my Himalaya with WM5 1.60a installed. But even without this sw my Himalaya dont have any problem with the Record and camera buttons. Try it.
I use this basically to:
- Unmap all the buttons including the Green and Red Button, and the Volume slider.
- Remap the Volume Slider to Up and Down keys.
- Remap the Green and Red Buttons as Left and Right Softkeys. This way you can access WM5 apps soft menu using only the buttons and the biderectional pad.
- Any other key you can map to anything you want.
because some device have problem with this two buttons and with or without this software they still dont work
Recently I am having problems with my phone, and am wondering if it is a software or hardware problem.
I have tried loading the TNT4 rom & WS5SE roms (this is a g4), and there is no change (im on the Tnt4 one now).
The touchscreen works okay, but the soft key buttons do not. The right bottom one is okay, the left one triggers the right one, the send button show the letters "uytga" on the phone screen when i press them, the end button shows "mn" or something, the camera button works perfect, the comm manager button is the same as the voice button (even when i map it with a program it says "button 4").
It even happens on the soft keys on the keyboard when i slide it out.
Also I used Start-sSPL to put the roms on. Is there a way I can get the OEM one back on or fix the button problem?

Ok, so loving my HTC S740 after changing from Qtek 8500. I know to initiate keylock you have to hold down the End Key for 2 seconds, but I am used to just closing my Qtek 8500 after a call to lock it. I also know you can activate auto keylock, but I need to keep my keys open sometimes. I would like to be able to just short press the Camera button to Keylock the phone. I have got as far as remapping the Camera button by changing the shortcut Short_Camera.lnk. Tried it by renaming Internet Explorer shorcut and it works! So far so good. But what shortcut to use or how to setup a shortcut for keyLock to remap to Short_Camera.lnk.
I know this sounds really petty, but can't wait and hold the End Key for 2 seconds every time!
Any help appreciated.
I don't know if it's possible by clean way without installing anything, but I have done this by assigning one harware button to 'turn off display' in AE Button Plus (which also locks keypad)
btw, I really like behaviour of some touchscreen htc devices where is device switched to standby by upper hardware button, and no other button can wake up device. It would be great to set up my S740 this way - anyone know if it is possilbe somehow?

Advanced Configuration Tools have an option for mapping softkeys.

I did leave them blank, but all I'm trying to do its get Cookie's home tab to work.
I have CHTEditor installed and Co0kie's home tab, but it doesn't appear on my home tab in sense. I know that you have to press the right soft key → menu → co0kie's home tab to turn it on, but I dont have that.
Is there any other way to show it?
cant help then. I have cookies installed, and those three keys are all blank in my registry, and the button says menu, and works fine.
have you tried uninstalling CHT and reinstalling it? that may overwrite the right soft key back to what you want.

Well, I also have a xperia x2 as well as an HD2. Co0kie's works flawlessly on the HD2. I found somewhere else on the forums that someone made a port of sense to xperia. So I hard-rested and it worked, but Co0Kie's just doesnt show. And the RSK is "camera"

Ive tried downloading button savior but the market wont let me download it.
agso i dont understand why antsmasher is only viewablein a small section of the tablet. i downloaded before on tnt and it worked perfectly but when i changed the rom to cm7 and flashback the game is small. the viewable is the size of a phone.
is there a fix for this?

I left the search button enabled so I can use the long press function in the Flashback honeycomb ROM which allows you to hide the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen. I disable all the other buttons.
For ant smasher, try using the "Spare Parts" app to disable (uncheck) "Compatibility Mode" and then reboot.
