Stock ROM Dumping - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Ok, so I finally received my new Titan from USCC (Us Cellular). I figured it would be a while before getting it, but surprisingly, It was here 2 days after they advised me it would be sent.
Question is this: How can I make a functional ROM dump (copy) of it's ROMS?
I know that once flashed to a GPS ROM, it is very risky to flash back to a non-GPS ROM; however, I've read several threads on PPCGEEKS on how to successfully accomplish this. My new phone isn't even activated yet, so, If anyone can guide me through a method of successfully making a functional copy of this stock ROM, and RADIO, It might be very helpful to UL this to a wizard like DCD so that he can work his magic and provide yet another useful upload for all of those wishing to re-flash to stock!
I'm DEFINITELY going to flash DCD's latest ROM to my new phone, but I was hoping that someone could help me copy/create a functional ROM dump prior to me altering it!
Any advise?
BTW, thanks, DCD, for working on this USCC related stuff.

Quick queston before i flash my first ROM

Hey guys, i have read all of the guides and alot on the forums, i am also a member at TX and Da_Gs blackjack site so i have flashed new ROMs to the Blackjack hundreds of times. I feel pretty good about flashing my ATT 8525 with a cooked ROM but, I just want to verify something..........
(1) I should flash to the HardSPL first right? If i follow the guide it looks easy.
(2) I have on my 8525 the 1.54 radio and it works really well in my area, so after the HardSPL then flash the rom then i should still have the 1.54 radio? Is that right? it works just like on the Blackjack....the radio and boot and ROM are all separate installs?
I know some ROMs have all 3 together but the ROM i like, K's WM6.0 FINAL
does not have the SPL or radio.

1) It is very easy....and definalty do it BEFORE anything else
2) the radio version currently on your hermes will stay there yes, unless you flash a ROM which contains a radio image. Nearly ALL the cooked WM6 versions are OS only.
Hey Thanks MrVanx! Thats all i neede to know! I will post afterwards to let ya'll know how it went.
It's pretty simple really once you know...
Run SIM & SID unlock, run Hard SPL v7, then click the RUU Wrapper file and install the required rom!
Easy!
Oh and the guide on Vanx's site is handy too!
Nice to see someone that read forum and wiki, and then ask a question.
hey guys everything went great! I have also installed the Cube to this ROM and it works great but, i really don't see it as being very useful as it is quicker to use the phone as it came. I do like how i can look through the contacts and pie with my fingers instead of the sylus but, thats about it.
I will try as many different ROMs as i can get ahold of and i might even down load one of the kitchens and start to roll my own,LOL! this is really changing what i do with my spare time! I used to hotrod my motorcycle or the computer or even my PSP but this is alot more fun!
Thank You to all the people here and over at TXceaser and Da_Gs web site!
You have really been a great bunch to learn from!

Mogul 6.1 stock ROM?

I've tried searching the forum and sometimes people do a better job than Google. I am trying to find a ROM for my Mogul that is basically stock 6.1 without any branding or"tweaks". I found one on here that looked interesting at first but then realised someone made "improvements" that really ended up looking like a mess.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Stock means it's made specifically for the Mogul and an official release. And there currently is no "stock" 6.1 "stock" rom.
The DCD rom's are about as clean as you can get; very little crap, not many tweaks, and certainly nothing that makes it a mess. In fact, it's probably the cleanest rom I've ever used.
You could always get a kitchen and make your own clean rom.

Confused: do I want to flash the radio on a fuze or not?

It seems like if you choose to flash the radio that you may have better/worse performance than you currently have. I am happy with my radio performance but want to flash some of these fun roms.
If I choose to flash a rom how do you choose not to install the radio?
I keep searching but my search terms are short and it is confusing google.
I flashed my rom but not my radio. My buddy here also did the same.

I could have told him that it was possible. What he want's to know is how. I remember seeing it somewhere in the WIKI or FAQ's but don't remember exactly where. I would post the link if I did. Sorry.
Thanks, Ill do some more searching. I think I recall having to remove a portion of the RUU or something. Ill go check it out.
Most of the ROMs I've seen do not include a radio (atleast the 2 I've used).
If you know your current radio version, you can always flash the new ROM, then flash your radio. There's a thread here that has all of the available radios you can download.
I have tried to do some searching for you, but really can't remember where I had read this. I do remember, that some ROM's have Radio's included, Some do not, Some have many apps included, Some are very light with very basic apps included. When you read up on a specific ROM for your device, the details of what is included is usually specified.
I think it's safe to say that over 99% of cooked ROMs are without radios. Every time you flash a radio ROM, it's an extra risk you're taking, and chefs always want to mitigate such risks.
I just got done flashing my first rom to my Fuze. I am stoked. Thanks for the help. This was far less painful than flashing my g3 and g4 wizards.

HTC Touch Pro XV6850 Verizon OEM Rom

Hey i wanted to flash my device with some of the custom roms that are available for my phone, but I'm not sure which roms I can use for my device. I wasn't sure if the fact that mine is the verizon version made a difference. I was also wondering if anyone knew where I can find the OEM verizon rom for the touch pro so that i can revert back to it if anything should go wrong. Also, sorry to sound like a newb, but I'm not entirely sure what HardSPL is, what it does or how to do it . If someone could clarify all this for me I would much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Dump your rom for backup
Hello,
i can´t help you, which roms you should flash.
But here in the Raphael Rom section, is a great "How To" about Rom dumping and reconstruction.
I also tried this, and have to say it´s realy great tutorial.
You find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507&highlight=dump
The autor is jcespi2005 (Thank you for such great Tuto), and if you follow everything step by step, then it will work 100%.
So you can backup you verizon rom and go back if you need to.
Bye
If you plan on flashing your Verizon phone you need to look under the CDMA fourms, not the GSM one. this is for the Eupore, AT&T, and T-mobile ones. Sprint, and verizon are CDMA.
As for information about flashing, go to wiki, and start reading. Lots of good FAQs there.
beware... do not flash GSM roms onto CDMA phones...!!
i thought that because this was rom development that this would also include cdma models as well. so i was wondering if anyone knew to find the verizon oem rom. i saw the instruction on how to reconstruct my rom before flashing with another rom, but i'm too worried about doing it wrong and frying my phone. i was hoping that someone a little more experience had gotten around to creating a download for it, but this phone is fairly new to verizon.

Replacement Phone

I had a older rom version on my Verizon XV6800, I was able to get gps working by following this link: http://www.phonenews.com/how-to-add-gps-to-htc-mogul-xv6800-p4000-titan-2663/ but it stop vibrating, it would only ring. I Took it the tech support, they determined I needed a replacement phone. I got a replacement phone with the following specs:
Windows Mobile 6.1
ROM version: 3.57.605.1
Rom Date 7/21/08
Radio Version: 3.37.75
Should I following this: http://www.phonenews.com/how-to-add-gps-to-htc-mogul-xv6800-p4000-titan-2663/ to get my GPS working again or is there another method since this ROM is a new version
You have 2 choices, search for the thread in using gps with MR1, or flash it back to an older Verizon stock rom with Windows Mobile 6.0 and then follow the normal flashing thread to get it up to a custom 6.1 rom. The problem is MR1 disables GPS except for their own GPS app or the Valhala server that someone wrote.
Honestly I think it's best that you flash back to 6.0 and then upgrade normally thru the custom route so that more GPS tools work without running a 3rd party app.

Do u kno where I can find the thread to go back to original rom?
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-376873.html http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376873
good think is before flashing stock rom ,activate different phone then flash
after you done reactivate PDA so you dont have to call verizon to get a A-KEY
Why do you recommend to activate a different phone? I did not need a new a key when I went from MR1 to old stock version then to DCD.
when i flashed mine to old rom then dcd's first what i did. flashed bootloader ,radio rom ,and dcd's rom .using RUU via USB cable and i lost A-key .
i did not use SD card method

Hey Billy do u have walk thru for flashin back to 6.0 and then upgrading normally
Actually I don't have a Verizon phone, I only know what I stated based on other threads I have read.
I would check HTC's website, they may have an older stock rom listed still. If not, then I'm sure there is a Wiki on here somewhere with links to older roms.
As far as ability to flash, you may need to relock the phone first, I would wait for some other wiser VZW user to respond.

<REQUEST TO MODERATORS>
Hey all, can anyone update the Verizon aGPS fix article in the wiki to include this info? A lot of people see the links that send them to the wiki for the fix (having MR1 already on their phone, updated or bought that way) and the fix doesn't work (FRUSTRATING). It would save so much trouble if there was 1 line that said "If you have MR1 installed and want to upgrade to a custom rom w/GPS, downgrade to (link to original rom) and then upgrade to your choice." Apparently that is a big problem people run into (me included) and so much frustration would be avoided (as well as so much posting space). So, can anyone add/change that for us?
