updating Radio wipes memory? - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

I was reading a thread earlier this morning about a new radio version (1.02.25.31). I'm running 1.02.25.19 on my TP with T-Mobile.
Like a lot of people the reception is poor and I was hoping that this new radio might improve things.....but..if I do this does it hard reset my device? or is that only for updating the ROM?
I will do a back up anyway, but the thought of reinstalling all my apps and setting connections up again etc, is a bit daunting.
thanks

KaiserCustomRUU wont wipe ur device(OS) if flashing RADIO/SPLASH rom.

Flashing a radio via MicroSD card definitely won't erase the memory; I do it all the time!
P.S I tried 1.02.25.31 with both T-Mobile & O2 and it hardly makes any difference for me. I had been using .31 since HardSPL was released until yesterday when I went back to .19 just to confirm my suspicions that there are no noticable differences

oh..then maybe I wont do it not worth me fretting about what it will do to my phone if the reception doesn't improve at all.

I've upgraded and downgraded my radio without losing anything. I went from 3.39 to 3.42.02 to 3.42.30 and back to 3.42.02 and then back to 3.42.30 again.
But if you go from like a GPS radio to a non-GPS radio, you will be forced to upgrade your ROM as well, and then you will lose your data. You must make sure that your radio(s) are compatible with the ROM you have.
As another newbie, I had written myself a chart, is this the right thinking?
Update SPL : FINE
Update Radio : FINE
Update ROM : loose everything and if using a DCD rom, make sure to run the verizon cab.
Obviously one must look at the compatibility chart for SPL/Radio/ROMs that work together.
Also, doing the ROM is the only time you have to call to get a new A-Key and resetup the phone? (my thought, not totally sure, I am a newbie). I did my phone for the first time 3 days ago and did all 3. I used Oilpro 2.4 and am thinking up updating to nueSPL. I don't think that will cause any issues.

If you upgrade the Radio via RUU, it will perform a hard reset. The only way to upgrade the radio without losing anything is to flash via SD card method.

Thanks alot for this information
Thanks also. I did my first update via USB, now I will learn the increasingly popular (and seems easier) SD card method, just as soon as UPS shows up with my big card so I can take the stuff off my small card and transfer I will make sure to keep that in my notes!

Best Radio for WM 6.5

Ive been having problems lately with my mogul for some odd reason it keeps resetting every like 10 second. Ive done everything from relockerr to unlocker and hard reset trying out radios and everything. i just want to know if there is ether a specific radio and BL thats compatible for the 21501 ROM?
Either of the unlocked bootloaders should work fine for it. There is a list on the wiki and a sticky thread at the very top of this forum with a list of compatible radio roms. Pretty much, though, I would probably just go with the latest one which I believe is a Sprint.
Also, if your phone is constantly resetting I would try flashing to your carrier's latest stock ROM and make sure that it is stable there first. If it still resets there then you may have a hardware issue of some sort.

[Q] Poor WIFI & bluetooth performance

Apologies if the answer is somewhere, I have searched but can't find anything.
So, to the problem. I have been using a Miri from for a couple of months and decided to flash to the new Dutty N4S V1 rom. Prior to this I flashed the raise to 2.14.50.04 and then went about flashing the Rom.
Initially it seemed to work fine, then I noticed poor wifi performance, the phone used to be able to pick up the router but now nothing then I noticed an issue with the Bluetooth, it now has a range of only a few cm.
So I have since flashed backward on the available radios through this site to no avail. I have also flashed both the Miri and Dutty roms since again not increasing performance.
The only thing I can find in error is the HSPL I had originally was 1.42. I didn't think about upgrading it despite the rooms asking for a later version, although I have since flashed version 2.08 of the HSPL and flashed everything again to see if the problems are rectified but to no success.
So, software fault or hardware fault. Prior to this bit of flashing both the wifi and Bluetooth worked fine. The phone is in excellent condition and only 6 months old. I have emailed HTC but while waiting for their reply I thought would try here too.
Thanks
regarding WiFi performance, I have noticed a decrease in performance starting with 3.14 ROMs. When I revert back to 2.XX based ROMs, the problem seems to correct itself.
Perhaps you should revert back to older 2.14 or 2.13 based ROMs.
Thats a start... Will give it a go.

Please HELP! Horribly Slow Data

Hey guys, I need some help.
I've been using my HD2 for two months now with little to no issue.
I've installed a couple of different Android ROMs with success, and enjoyed using them.
Recently I tried one that I didn't like, and decided to restore my phone to factory WinMO ROM.
Since then, I've had HORRIBLE data speeds...
I'm talking 50-60Kb/s where I used to get at LEAST 500Kb/s...
What on earth happened??
I'm currently on stock WinMO ROM with nothing flashed except for HSPL.
Can anyone help?
format your memory card or replace it to see if anything improves

Hi
Just a couple of things? When you flashed back to stock rom, was you back with spl? or have you put Hspl back in? I also thought usa mobiles had a radio version 51?
So maybe the radio version could be the problem? You can try flashing back to stock, then trying, before flashing up Hspl, or check to see if you have radio version 51 instead of the 50.
I also would like to know if this sovles it for you
Tks

Here's what I did:
1. I formatted the memory card to remove any traces of Android.
2. I restored the original WinMO ROM.
3. I performed Task29
4. I Flashed Radio 2.15.50.14 (has always worked for me)
5. I flashed VBNROM 2 Reloaded (has always worked for me)
6. I installed my favorite flavor of Android.
Still no data speeds over 50-60Kb/s.
I then decided to restore the factory WinMO ROM again. I formatted the memory card, and restored. No Task29 this time.
Now back to factory WinMO ROM and still suffering from terrible data speeds, even on stock WinROM radio.
Hi
Looks like you have lost the data settings supplied by T-Mobile. You can check via start/settings/connections/connections. (or similar to your mobile settings) you should see T-mobile internet settings? look for manage existing connections. touch that. (Mine has AIS GPRS Internet, so i am working fine)
Does your have/say something simillar? If not then I hope another T-Mobile USA user can give you your settings. (Or you can google it)
Hope this helps this time!!

[Q] How to solve dowloadspeed issue? (GSM)

Hi,
Since ICS roms dropped for the EVO 3D GSM, I jumped on board.
As recommended I installed the fw upgrade, prior to flashing an ICS rom.
No problems so far.
I decided to do a speedtest on my connection. Seems my download speed was very low. Only about 10% of the speed I should have. (Speeds on wifi are just fine).
First I thought it might be the rom, so I tried another ICS rom (wiped and all). Still no decent speed.
Next step was to try a GB rom. This one also didn't give me the dl speed I should have.
I decided to flash the "older" recommended radio for GB roms. Again tried ICS and GB roms on top of that. Still no decent speed.
Doing this trial and error made me think that the possible "problem" is the newer fw I flashed for ICS. This fw upgrade holds more than just the radio.
To completely rule this out I want to install an older fw version.
I know I can "extract" the PG86IMG.zip from any compatible RUU and install that with the bootloader.
Questions:
1) Is it safe to 'downgrade' and install the firmware that way?
2) Is there any other thing I can do to get my normal dl speed?
I realise that if the software isn't to blame, then it might be hardeware or carrier related.
First I want to rule out the software part.
Thanks for your replies!
I did some more research and tests. It seems my sim card is faulty.
I'm gonna have it replaced asap. That should solve it.
Got my sim replaced. Issue wasn't solved.
It seems my dataplan is somehow causing this.
My provider is now looking into it.
