FC JUVENTUS !!!!!

i know, but it can be an interesting discussion

I am curently using ROMeOS 1.05 and i've seen a huge difference on my TP. I know that it was fast enough with the stock ROM, but TF3D gained considerably more scrolling speed and icons on Programs Tab appear so much faster know...

im using ROMeOS 1.05 to. it is a little bit faster but havent noticed so very much difference. but it is faster all right. and i havent found any bugs yet either. seems really good.

anyone using DCS-TouchPro-v14 and think its better than ROMeOSĀ² v1.05.

The DCS rom is MUCH less buggy. With the stock rom or with the DCS rom I have never had a lockup in almost 3 weeks. With the ROMeOS rom I had several lockups with 2 different versions.
Stability was my main issue with that ROM

with lockups u mean that it hangs right. that havent happened with mu RomeOS. but maybe DCS is better.

If you DON'T use TF3D, is it nonetheless worthwhile installing a custom ROM, performance wise?

If you don't use manila... i suggest installing swtos light ROM.

I haven't tried the light rom mentioned here but I would tend to agree. Although it is pretty cool when you first get the device I have found that TF3D really slows down the device and is not very configurable .. that said, a rom with TF3D not "pre installed" would be a great idea!

Yes - it hung up and I had to soft reset. Maybe just be coincidental but I had it happen several times so my patience didn't last. Also I couldn't get SecondToday to work properly and since I already had been using it on my other ROM I thougth it must be the ROM itself

The Panosha ROM turns out to be my favourite, after testing every ROM ever released here. I get faster TomTom satelite lock on, and most of the times my phone network is connected even before 3D Touchflow is fully started.
This is my personal experience

Before this thread going to be locked, let me show u the path to the best ever Raphael ROM in earth for now. Get it here & pls share it

Did not see any COOKED ROMs there

All were cooked by HTC/Carrier staff

Right now I'm happy with the Stock rom with a few performance tweaks. I am more or less waiting until someone makes a custom rom that improves GPS lag and reception strength issues. Thats probably not going to happen until a new improved radio gets released.

i Love ROMeOS, its the best

depends on what you want.. do u want speed or do you want the look.. to be honest, .4 rocks when it comes to looks.. you aint gonna get somethin' better lookin' than .4 at this moment. on the other hand if speed matters, then go for .3a.. but a word of caution, don't expect .3a to be perfect... there already have been known wifi issues and some bt issues too.. but all-in-all its perfect taking in consideration more buggyones than .3a out there..
I'm still waiting the perfect and stable Rom ....
there is no such thing as perfect.. perfect is based upon our own perspective.. when things that we need are fulfilled successfully, we call that thing perfect. have you ever heard about a perfect phone, a perfect computer, or a perfect software.. i dont think so because there is always something n something that the programmer/creator forgot to consider and thus there are some flaws in it.. so i dont think perfect will ever come straight into our face.. its a matter of us looking for it..
Hi,
I guess in this case that perfect means stable (no SMS, wifi or BT troubles)

Yup...absolutely right...current, i am using PDAViet 4.0.0.0.4 version and have trouble (sometime hang). in one day i can soft reset twice until third time and closing application suddenly. (it rare happened)
I use 4.0.0.3 (NOT 4.0.0.3a with no WiFi or BT problems. MMS works like charm. The only bugs I've noticed so far is the "word completion" module, that does not store new words and sometimes (rarely) wrongly redrawing Today screen.
well i have installe 4.0004 on my dopod 818 pro and its great with the looks and stuff but is too slow... and me going back to 4.0003.

It would be very helpful, if you tried both roms you mention, & report back here with your findings.
@P4k1t0
SMS is working fine in 4.0.0.03, but zoomsms (from eten) doesn't work. This always worked with other wm6 roms.
Both .3 and .4 work fab on my device, with some small quirks.
If you want a speedy rom, go for .3. If you want great looks with the expense of a small slowdown, go for .4.

I have do that question to know what you (people using those roms) knows about that roms, bugs, etc, etc!
Let me tell u one thing............................
why don't u try .3 first for a couple of days, then try .4
u know, there are different problems, some1 has sms problem, some1 does not have this problem
so my advice to u is, try urself, and find out urself
it's not a question, which is better n which is not. the one which solves ur problems and fulfill ur desires, is the perfect one
think u got that
i have test .4 ... on first day, this rom has perfect!! but 4/5days later this rom has so slow :S, i dont have install nothing on that... none app, nothing!
So... there is no wm6 stable at this moment!

Which ROM is best for my Sprint Touch Pro

I originally posted this in ROM development then realized I have a CDMA version of the phone.
Like most I dont like the stock ROM. The only one I have tried so far is KK's Loaded 2.0. I like it a lot but it lacks in some areas. Mainly I like how in landscape it gives me the normal home screen. Where it lacks is that the battery life is horrible, I can barely go 12 hours on a full charge, and it is sluggish going from portrait to landscape.
The only real functions I use on the phone is text messaging, email through outlook, the Google Maps GPS and the internet to check facebook and google stuff. What im looking for is the ROM that will give me the best battery life and usability for the above functions. I would like to have the normal home screen in landscape and a faster response from portrait to landscape. I rarely use any of the microsoft office programs, I dont play any games on the phone, nothing along those lines, I literally just do the things mentioned above.
So for the people that have tried and tested the various ROMs, which one do you think is best for me? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
Ive just started flashing by phone and as a result, ive flashed many roms lately looking for the perfect one. Here are two of them that i feel are the best ive tried.
If you want a 6.1 rom with great battery life and alot of space for extra programs, try Mighty Rom 4.16. The great part about it is that the phone starts up quickly (almost as fast as a regular non-smartphone), the switch in screen orientation is nearly instant, and it doesn't have a bunch of extra programs on it that you may not use. The only little thing i didn't like was that it didn't include picture messaging and text messages were limited to only 120 words, rather than the 160 i was used to. Luckily, these problems were easily fixed by installing Arcsoft mms and an sms fix. Only reason i switched to a different one was because i wanted wm6.5.
If you want to take the jump to 6.5, i suggest that you check out StarROM 2.0. It's by far one of the quickest roms that i have ever used, it has great battery life (i dont need to charge my phone every single day now!), and already includes programs like Google Maps, Facebook, Opera Widgets, and the usual wm programs (outlook email, office etc.). Im currently using it on my touch pro right now and the only things that i didnt like were that i had to install the calculator, Opera, and Arcsoft MMS. I am currently using it right now and havent had any trouble ever since.
These are just roms that ive tried and liked but to find the one thats best for you, you should try some more until you find the one you're most comfortable with
Star 2.0 is what i would suggest atm.
Silence & SsS are also good roms.
Just switched to StarROM 2.0.... so far so good, will try it out for a while.... Should I change the radio on the phone? I have only had 1 other ROM besides the stock one so I am guessing that the radio on the phone is the stock one. Someone suggested that maybe my poor battery life could be a result of the wrong radio on the phone.
There all good! just try them and see what fits you best

If you want WM 6.5 with Rhodium Manila and some added Topaz goodies, I've tried most of the WM 6.5 + Rhodium Manila ROMs and personally find Energy ROM 3.0 to be the best.

so what is your input? did you find it more battery saving or not? let us know.
I'm new to flashing and really want to flash to 6.5. I saw the review on PocketNow and wanted it right away.
However, I'm having trouble deciding what ROM to get. The hardest part is figuring out which WM 6.5 build is the latest. The numbers don't seem to go in order.
Has anyone the Sprint Optimized ROM in this thread?

I'm looking for a Sprint optimized as my priority because I worry I won't be able to find cabs for the apps that came with the phone.

I've gone through the majority of the 6.5 roms and HANDS DOWN...Energy ROM 3.0 is the best.
I got rid of my wife's Herman, but Fallen 2.1 was pretty good, light, fast, and relatively good with battery. Other good ones are Mighty's roms, and I recently found out that NRGZ has developed a few roms for the Herman as well.
Like a few people said earlier in the thread, it is fun to try different roms to see which one fits you best. Try them for a while and then switch to the next until you feel comfy enough to stop flashing your device (or until you brick it )
Hope this helps.
I'm in the same boat as the OP and currently looking for the best ROM for my Touch Pro.
My phone came preflashed with Juicy 7 when I purchased it and found it uncomfortably slow - not to mention that it has crashed several times on me and then on reboot - proceeded to reset the device and wipe out everything.
I'd like hear, aside from what's the best, why each ROM is the best. I'm looking for a fast ROM that has good battery life (and stable).

Which TP Custom Rom Do You Like The Most?

Im Getting My TP Mailed TO ME TOm. ANd I JUs Wanted To Get A Feel Of WHat U Guys Like And Dislike About The Many Custom Roms THat Are Out There For The TP....Mcuh Appreciated
Thanks
This ? gets asked alot and the response is usually to try for yourself because for one thing the rom cooks all work very hard at their craft and it's not fair to rate their work as one being better for whatever reason. Also what one person prefers in their own rom on their device is diff from what someone else likes. I have tried them all and they all show excellence in their crafting. I have found I prefer the lighter roms, but not always. I have many saved on my laptop and go back and forth alot between them. I would suggest you read up on the rom threads and then choose your first, after that try some more, saving ones you like. Alot of excellent chefs hang here and I for one appreciate each and every one as they have made my phone experience full of innovation. Enjoy your tp. It is an awesome device and when it starts feeling mundane.......New ROM Time!!!

Yeah I Understand What U Mean Now That I Think About It....IVe Actually Been Doin Some Searching Today Around The Internetz While I Shouldve Been Working and Found A Brand New Rom On PPCGEEKS.COM...Looks Pretty Interesting. But Once Again Thanks For Your Input.
i have tried a handful of different roms on my cdma touch pro. most of them at ppcgeeks.
my favs (no particular order)
Calkulins Custom WM6.5 Rhodium
NRGZ28 Energy Series Roms
NFSFAN's WM6.5 Rhodium Manilla Rom
a few i've tried which arent bad at all, just felt the above were better:
SsS Series Roms
Psyki Roms
have not been a fan of the: (sry guys) (i admit it was a while ago the last time i tried them)
juicy roms
mighty roms
i completely agree with bryan on his post tho. i appreciate every bit of work these guys do to release to us the "best" experience possible on our phones. every single one of them deserves major props & gratitude for their hard work & time/effort. dont be afraid to donate a small amount to these guys if you appreciate what they are doing. i think HTC/MS should hire most of these guys b/c their work is incredible & often times better than what the manufacturer does.
p.s. it would be great if you didnt't capitalize every first letter. it makes it really hard to read especially when u accidently hold shift for the 2nd letter also
I personally am a fan of Juicy 8 and MightyROM 6. They are both great speedy, stable, and dependable ROMs. As others have said, to each his own and you just have to take the plunge and try a few out till you're happy. Good luck and happy flashing!
*beware* this flashing process everyone talks about....
can be quite addictive. to say the least lol
I Like JD's the best.....
Go to www.ppcgeeks.com
And check him out.
I have a cdma TP and I am running NFSFAN WM 6.5 rom and I love it!
I tried Mighty6... I switched back immediately.
what ever you do, defiantly load a custom rom, It turns it into a whole new phone!
Just follow the directions on the forums and you are in there!
I dislike how how you structure your grammar.
lol..
there are so many good ones but my top fav in no particular order are:
dcd roms
psyki roms
energy roms
juicy roms
Score one more for Juicy 8. There's very little I'd change about this ROM, it's excellent.
Wondering if anyone's experienced better battery life with one over another. Batttt life or lack of it is my only real issue. Using a 2000mAh and still charging twice daily.

I've experimented with many ROMS and battery life. Although the ROM itself is quite bare...the collaboration between Mighty and Silence (which can be found on ppcgeeks) seemed to give me the best battery life. Although I absolutely loved EnergyRom, it gave me the worst battery life (out of approximately 7 different ROMS I flashed). I personally use NFSfan's ROM's...seems to have the best balance.
Turning Touchflo 3D off certainly helps with battery life. Also, ensure your push e-mail is using imap-idle (outlook e-mail scheduler, System Seven, etc). Lumos apparently helps with battery life (although I have never tried it). Don't keep CPU and Data intensive programs like Skype and Opera open unless you absolutely need to. After comparing with battery monitors (whether this SHOULD be the case or not, I'm not sure) Wifi uses more battery (even with adjusted power settings) than 3G EVDO. Try to increase the interval or eliminate plugins/applications that use the internet to refresh data (i.e. RSS hub, Weather Update apps/plugins).
@Motorious, thanks for the input. I'm really watching it and trying to actually see what is causing the drain. Always close out of programs, etc. It seems it can suddenly become warm with nothing done on my part. I notice it comes out of sleep on it's own sometimes like some thing woke it up. I've tried almost every rom combo and agree while energy is fantastic it does suck it down faster. I tried using a light, no tf3d v. and no really noticable diff. I just have lots of chargers in diff rooms at home, my office and truck so I'm never caught short, just confounded is more like it. I love tweaking/playing with it so no worries, just wish I could figure it out. Could it be the 3g being on all the time? Every thing else is off.

hmm try using a battery monitor such as powerguard or tbattery to see where your drain is coming from.
EnergyROM 'Aurora' is the best for me. Very fast and stable. As far as I have seen with this build, haven't been able to find any bugs. Also Sprint TV does work in this build. The only disadvantage is battery life, however, there is a folder in the Start Menu on this rom that has modding tools.
Check out EnergyROM 'Aurora'
My experience
I tried the following.
Might Rom - Loved it, but I my battery life was terrible.
Warrior ROM - I didn't like it, but the battery life was the best that I experienced.
SsS Rom - It very fast and stable. The battery life was better than Might, but not that good.
Currently using EnergyRom. I really like it. I've only had it installed since yesterday. So far the battery life is a little better than SsS, but not as good as Warrior ROM.
Just my non-scientific 0.02 cents worth.
Currently a VZW user with a TP....I have tried several different ROMs and although each one was good and I appreciate the hard work that these guys put into these things, there are different flavors for different people. Here's my assesment:
TFSFAN's....best Rom out here for looks and apps. After running it about a week I started having some issues with Lag, ect. I may go back to this one as It may have just been user error issues here...
DCD's ROM Good and stable rom but very basic and stripped down. If you are looking for just the basics this maybe the way to go....
Energy's ROM....Looks good. But didn't really function the way I wanted it to. I didn't like the touch flow interface on the bottom of the screen. Ran stable though...
Mighty's ROM....currently running for about 4 days. Good and stable. If I can work out a few tweeks this maybe the one to keep! Good apps! Just want to get a few things working and test it a bit longer....

This is a tough question to answer as each individual's mileage seems to vary. I am quite partial to NFSFANs ROM. It runs fast, stable and the battery drain seems to be the best of the ROMs I've tried.

psyki's and NRG's for me. Best 2 out there bar none.
Use Calkulins Kitchen to make your own ROM, or download any number of ROMs cooked with his kitchen.
I personally prefer MurdaROM v1.08. Very fast, stable, and includes nearly every basic program you could need.
Made for and tested on a Sprint TouchPro. Many very new packages from Topaz (Leo), but both Opera 9.5 and 9.7 -- includes Manila 2.1 and TellMe, plus other goodies.
Kitchen also available.
Best Rom?
I like the 2nd to last MightyROM that came out... I know that PPCKitchen.Org is going to put out an updated 3.5 set of ROMs soon if you can wait...
Just pick one...
Coke vs Pepsi, Ford vs Chevy....
Ask 10 people and probably get 10 different answers... well probably 3 or 4, maybe 5.
In the last 6 months I have:
Started with Juicy 7, then 8. Then went to Silence Final, tried Haze 1.7, back to Silence. Then when EnergyROM came out with his 23081, I gave that a shot. Very nice, but I'm just not ready for WM6.5.1, so went to Energy's 21846, which is where I am now... until something catches my eye. Scepter 3.4 was in there for a second, i think.....
Choosing a ROM is like getting in a relationship - you love every bit and pixel for the first week or so. Then your comfortable, have everything tweaked exactly how you want it...then one day you see a screenshot, and you prepare for the breakup.
I say pick the one that has the best looking theme, in you opinion, and flash it. Try it, don't like it at all, flash another. ROMS are fling, not a marriage.

I was the exact same way when I started flashing.. man oh man, I've tried every CDMA ROM there was, and then every time each one updated I'd rotate through them all again.
Each time I got to NFSFAN's ROMs I'd pause for a bit.. then the next time I'd pause for a bit longer.. then the next time longer still.. eventually the other ROMs started dropping away and I'd rotate between 3 or 4 as they each updated, pausing longer still on NFSFAN's.. now, I gotta say.. I'm married!!! I don't even look at other cooks threads, I just check NFSFAN's to see if there's any updates. But in my opinion, it doesn't even NEED anymore updates, everything runs flawlessly on this thing.
The only problem I've had at all, is that I tried installing nuedynamicclock, and that program didn't work on this rom, it didn't show the MHz, or the profile.. so I uninstalled it.. after that, I couldn't answer incoming calls. So, not really NFSFAN's fault. quick hard reset and I'm good to go.

Definitely agree with you there. The only other ROM that has grabbed my attention is NRGZ28's Manila 2.5 build. Not as fast as NSFFFAN's 2.1, but his is the best 2.5 out there so far. There still needs to be a lot of work done for any ROM carrying 2.5, but it is exciting to see the progress that is being made. For now I am wholeheartedly sticking with NSFFAN's ROM. I hope he is planning on a 2.5 at some point.
NFSFAN FTW!
ive only tried a few, but I found this ROM has the best feel and stability.
I like the NRG Herman ROM :EnergyROM_21864_HERMAN_22.Oct.2009_Standard.rar
I've tried about all the roms out there... MightyMike.com has the best i've found so far. Its stable. It has all the eye-candy and features (like Juicy8) and its solid! I have not had to hard reset since first installing this rom and have been on it for three months now with no issues. Mighty Rules!
Darkroot Ls is a good one runs stable and fast
you can get it from ppcgeeks.com
Another vote for NSFAN here.
Energy always has a feature packed rom but stability is often the question with them. In his defense you can't really make as many changes and updates as he does and not have some stability issues especially since he usually includes the cutting edge packages as they get released.
I am currently trying out Twisted Access' rom. It's a 6.1 variety with Sense 2.5 and the sense 2.5 is the main reason I am trying it as I need to have quick access to the call history from the home screen and I like the extra program shortcuts it provides but wvwn that rom has a few issues with Sense crashing and the people page and favorites not working properly. But other than that is is pretty stable with a good set of default programs included.
But a Kitchen is the only way to make a PERFECT rom for yourself. There you can include what you want and get rid of the rest keeping the rom Slim and fast.

[WANTED] A WM 6.5 and Sense 2.1 rom that actually WORKS???

Ok, I've tried out quite a few roms to find that 'dream' rom and been flashing like mad, but one thing I've noticed is that there seems to be something majorly buggy with each one I've tried.
I've gone back to the Cap's Special with Sense 2.1 and WM 6.5 and have finally decided on the 'look' I want, but the virtual keyboard doesn't work properly in phone keypad or compact qwerty, which I really need when typing short, one handed messages on my touch pro. Also in my people tab, the call mobile button doesn't work to instantly call someone, I have to go into more information and call from the WM contact card. Yes it's kind of minor, but really annoying! And I can't find any cabs, fixes or anything that will solve my problem/s..
So I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a STABLE, more or less BUG-FREE and as close to stock-like rom that perhaps meets the following requirements, because I'm about ready to give up the search.. :\
- WM 6.5 (not 6.5.x) with the stock all black top and bottom and all white softkey buttons and icons.
- HTC Sense 2.1
- Start menu with original icons, nothing too fancy and messed with
- ALL virtual keyboards working properly, in both normal AND landscape mode
- Call mobile button in People tab that WORKS
Basically, I just want a stock rom with WM 6.5 and Sense 2.1 that doesn't have any major problems and can be used in landscape mode. How hard is that???
I'm kinda new to the TP ROM scene, so please forgive my ignorance and impatience. But I just want a WORKING rom, that's all. There doesn't seem to be as many out there as I thought there'd be, and so far have been very disappointed with what I've tried. Any advice or fingers pointed in the right direction would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Well sorry to disappoint you but this is windows we are talking about and these forums are created for one reason, to try and make the mobile software better, wich obvious isn't working out that good.
Will never buy a phone with windows mobile os again.
Hopefully Linux or Android will work good with this phone some day.

I have attempted to use the Tael ROMS in the past myself, I can attest to their brokenness. I tried the new ones last night. While they are the 2nd or 3rd best "Sense" ROMS I have tried, they suck on the Fuze. In short, the Fuze was not meant to run 6.5, or Sense, or...much anything other than 6.1 and the phone application. Running much else, takes too much CPU power.
So far, the "perfect" ROM I have found for the Fuze is a base, OEM-like 6.5.x, and loading on my own customizations. Trying to run Sense/Manila is pointless on these devices. Unless you just like to look at the pictures and soft reset after every application you use.

Here's the ROM I use: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580429
It's 6.5.X, no Sense/Manila, very stable, fast, and my only complaints (with older versions) was to get GPS working with Google Maps, and Sync (which is a WinMo/Vista/7 compatibility issue and unrelated to the ROM). I am partial to speed, functionality, and reliability. This ROM does that. I then install the apps I want on top of it. haven't tried out the Kitchen version yet to build my own.

if you want stability, use NRG rom 21898 version with cookie home tab, literally NO bugs (after you instal a cab for the volume ctrl cause the one cooked in is messed up). I highly recommend you make the switch to 2.5 sense, I thought that is was less stable, but I was very wrong. The sense 2.5 builds are more stable then the 2.1 ones, also, with cookie hometab you get INSANE customization of your homescreen as well as fluid graphics. Overall, i cannot find a single bug in the latest nrg roms. Hope this helped

I actually then the 6.5.5 roms with sense 2.5 and my phone works flawlessly. never crashes, and its quite zippy. sure the battery life isnt more than 2 days but i have 5 email boxes syncing on 3g all day.
energy roms are good, but i dont like the fact that they keep changing the basics between every rom, sometimes its opera 9.7, sometimes 10, sometimes beejive, sometimes palringo. tael has a much slimmer base and just the apps that work well. and u get to have the swype keyboard.
i vote him hands down. and u can get the 21898 version which has the start on top.

Works fine for me. I vote user error in your case. I probably won't buy a phone with win mobile again either, but that has more to do with the movement of application support towards android and iphoneOS, than to do with win mo.
Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated!
Yeah I'm sticking with Cap's Special still I think.. wish I had the skill, time and the patience to cook my own ROM, but I think it'd end up just as buggy if not more so than others I've tried. Eh..
I probably won't buy another WinMo phone again either, unless WM7 lives up to my expectations, which knowing M$, most likely won't.. I am NOT however going to join the iPhone cult, I simply refuse!
But my old Nokia 3600 slide is looking more and more appealing again.. lol.
Keep up the good work though!
Swype
I can at the very least solve your one handed typing issues....get Swype! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604949 It is awesome, as previously mentioned. And I am a fan of Energy ROMs myself, but if you want everything perfect, you might wanna try a little home cooking...

Good choice sticking with Cap's Special ROM.
His 21898 Build is by-far the fastest & most stable ROM I've used... And I've been through the GenY, Energy, and TAEL ROMS... none of them compare.
