Armstrap - Touch HD Accessories

I am planning to use this HD during bikerides (mountainbike) with an armstrap...
Are there any armstraps that provide water resistance (against sweat and light rain)
Next to that.... are there headsets that allow controll of the Mediaplayer, like the option to go to next /previous song... or even answer telephone calls without needing to touch the phone (headset function)

I have this Griffin armband for my Zune, (I really like it) and they make one for the iPhone 3G. Since they are essentially the same size, It should work. I know the 3.5mm jack is probably on the wrong side, but the back (side against your arm) is a spandex-like material that you should have no problem putting an extra hole in for the HD's headphone jack location. I'm using the XtremeMac SPortWrap for the iPhone. Fits very tight.

Motorcycle riders: BT headset or adapter that's comfy inside full-face helmet

Hi Everyone,
I have been looking for such a beast for a long time without avail. I have an old Jabra BT200, but that's too bulky, and of course, answering the phone is impossible. My Motorcycle is my secondary transport, so I would like to keep the spending to a minimum.
My old HP 65xx phone came with a 2.5mm headset that was easy to slip into the helmet, and I could live with that. The TyTN connector is a little awkward, and when the phone's in the case, the connector is not exposed.
I have seen some specialized products like the cardio scala rider, but the price is more than I would like to spend. I remember at some point that vendors were making neck strap BT adapters that would take in a 2.5mm wired headset, but I haven't been able to find them.
Any of the riders in the group have any suggestions besides the Cardio Scala rider? any help would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
I would like to know as well. Although it probably isn't a good idea to be talking on the phone while motorcycling. Its bad enough people don't see us; we don't need to help them out by concentrating on a phone call.

I ride with a scala rider bluetooth headset. Google it. It is great Works with open and full faced helmets. I use a full face flip down helmet. The microphone boom and head piece clip down to the side of the helmet. The actual bluetooth piece detaches and re-attaches from the rest of it for charging. The voice quality is outstanding. So loud it can not be turned all the way up. Cheers Its the best so far. The only one better is the one built into the helmet. I dont remember the brand of my helmet but will check a repost it.

I will check ebay for pricing(thanks stukes). I'm trying to take the cheap route because I don't ride the bike as often as I would like, and the scala is not a cheap option.
I don't like answering the phone while riding either, but sometimes you have to. I would like to at least have the option so that if it's something important, I can call the person back. Right now, I don't even notice that a call is coming in most of the time, and some have been important.
If I find some suitable solution, I'll post it here.
Thanks again
WARNING....Before riding with this thing test and turn down the volume!!! On your phone select the auto answer function. If you dont turn the volume down then there is a possibility of it being so loud an accident can occur!!! So please take caution until you get use to it.

I know Dainese has a helmet with built-in BT. Its the Airstream Course "Mugello" Bluetooth Helmet.
Scala FTW.. my friend uses one on his sony phone and when I call him I can't tell he's even riding... he uses the stereo phones that came with his phone to listen to mp3s when a call comes in it mutes the music and he uses his scala BT for the call... I'm guessing my 8525 would work similar... tryin to get him to let me test it with my 8525 before I purchase one...
Just got home from work. My helmet is from CABERG helmets. They had the same split full face as mine with a built in bluetooth headset as well. Once again I really like the scala rider headset. Once properly attached to the helmet its great.
I got an I-tech S38. it allows you to use whatever headphones you want (uses standard mini-stereo plug). I don't ride, but if you can wear earbud(s), you could use it.
http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/productsCatList_en.asp?cid=2
I got mine on ebay $47.70 after shipping.
I use the Scala Rider, and think it's great. Got mine on eBay for less than ½ the RRP.
Does any of these Bluetooth motorcycle headsets A2DP ? I would like to hear voice navigation from TOMTOM running on my TyTN.
So far I bought headset for full face helmet for $40, it is ended with mini DIN connector, then made conversion to 3.5 jack and plugged into TyTN with 3.5 usb to 3.5 adaptor.
It works, but it will need some kind of amplifier, as I can barely hear it when riding.

HTC Headphone Adapter U110

I am ready to take the plunge with T-mobile, but this bothering the crap out of me. I am more casual user then business user, but tech geek, but come ON where on EARTH can i get an adapter WITH mic without carrying around half + meter of wire length... not very practical...
Any one know of a 3rd party solution
http://www.awswireless.com/store/headset-36H00622-00M.html - U110 - way too damn long.
Almost all 3rd party with mic are too damn long!
I found one that fits the bill, but this website looks iffy, and no reviews with 3 stars:
http://www.htcdepot.com/seidio-mini-usb-to-35mm-adapter/11A75A2812.htm
I need something like THIS! No extra wire, just a simple converter + microphone!
I'm not sure if I'm pointing out the obvious here...
...but what is the point of having the microphone about an inch away from the phone itself?
I assume you're planning on having the phone in your pocket whilst wearing headphones to listen to music...so a call comes in, you press the button on the adapter and all of a sudden the caller is talking to the symphony of your crotch...
good point. I was doing more research, decided to get this, gives both flexibility and portability:
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/h2ar11p-bk.htm
I only wished some high quality buds were made for this device... only thing that i see so far to fit the bill:
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/h3ern11p-bkg.htm
why not just get a bluetooth headset? ....its way more tech geek than wired mic and ear bud

In ear bluetooth headset, best?

Hey guys! I had a pair of beats tours, but I blew the speaker today (twice now) so I am looking for something new.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a pair of in ear bluetooth headphones?
Something that can be very loud with a decent (~6 hours streaming) battery life?
I know I don't want the LG ones with the 'necklace', way to ridiculous for me lol.
Price is not an issue.
Thanks!
Get a small Bluetooth receiver and then pick your own IEMs IMO, way better bang for your buck... Unless you're completely against the notion of slipping a matchbook sized receiver in your pocket or clipping it somewhere. This Sony receiver actually comes with some headphones (can't speak to their quality) but you could use any pair of headphones, it has built in controls and a display even. Proprietary charging cable I think but that's par for the course with Sony.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B003DQ1DCM/ref=pd_cp_cps_pw_1
I got this more basic receiver for other uses but I've used it with my Senheisser CX300, JVC 'mallows, and MEElec M9P headphones without issue, main drawback is no mic or controls, little cheaper tho and it probably has better range:
http://www.amazon.com/Miccus-BluBridge-mini-jack-Rx-Bluetooth/dp/B0038MA11U
These are THE smallest BT headphones I've seen, not worth the extra $20 if you ask me tho:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-HBH-IS800-Wireless-Headphone/dp/B001QTW21Y/ref=pd_sim_cps5
Battery life on those is obviously worse, tho it might be sufficient for you. I can't remember what other drawbacks I noted tho (they've been around a few years, used to cost $200), besides the fact that you're tied to the integrated headphones forever, and they're probably $20-30 quality headphones (which isn't bad per se, just depends on your needs and budget). Controlling playback is also probably fussier, if at all possible.
No one makes very high end BT headphones because you do lose some quality due to the compression BT uses, tho it's fine for mobile and car use IMO... But I'm not an audiophile and I don't pay more than $70 for a pair of headphon, and lately not even half that. Home cans are JCV RX700, cost $30, you'd be amazed at what you can get with a small budget if you just do some research (Head-Fi.org).
Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. I was thinking more so the ones that are connected with the 1ft ish cord connecting it, but didn't even consider that option. I'll check them out, thanks again.
Edited the post with some extra comments, not quite sure what type of !BT headphone you're alluding too tho. Most of the others I've seen either have a behind the head band or they're over the ear and bulkier.
I've seen a couple other IEMs that are just tethered by one short cord (Jaybirds?) but they're still bulkier than those last Sony I linked, and probably not much cheaper... Might as well go with the sleekest possible if you wanna go that route, I'm not a Sony fan by any means but I doubt similar sets from companies that don't make any other audio gear (besides BT stuff and phone accesories) are gonna sound any better. My 2c

I was talking about something similar to these
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005B28DOM/ref=aw_d_iv_wireless?is=l&qid=1318655745&sr=8-16
But really looking for options, opinions, reviews.
I'll check out the website you posted, thanks.
Also, the BT receiver defeats the purpose of having a BT headset for me because 100% of the time the phone will be in my pocket anyways lol.
Hmm, whatever you linked isn't showing up on my Transformer... Point of the receiver is you can take the phone out and whatever without wrangling or dangling the cord, those receivers are tiny enough for a shirt pocket even... But if compact is what you want I haven't really seen anything smaller than those Sony I linked (last link). The whole BT/battery module is a tiny capsule mid string, most other BT IEMs I've seen are bulkier on the ear components.

Yeah I understand why you like the receiver, it just doesn't do anything for me.
I do like the ones in the last link, similar to the ones I linked, but was asking for reviews. They would be well worth the extra $20 in my book, if they work well.
Check out jabra sport.

I saw reviews, but missed design flaw! (How you deal with it?)

I'm not from the moon. I saw LG G2 reviews, but missed design flaw! What flaw? Apple like headphone jack at the bottom. Jesus Christ...
I like it better at the bottom. You can play with your phone while listening to music without the cord being in the way.
I always put my phone in my pocket upside down face back. Works perfect with the jack on the bottom

Yea I hate the Headphone jack at the bottom cause you have to put it in your pocket upside down, but it makes the overall appearance of the phone sexy (hiding all the ports at the bottom. Plus I would assume it helps with keeping junk out. It is also nice, as stated above, that the cord hangs down when in hand without putting stress on the jack.
Anyway just go bluetooth. You're just listening to music, not creating a mobile recording studio. G2 + $15 BT Speaker = Bliss
I'm pretty sure this isn't a DESIGN FLAW since it was actually created this way... on all 23 G2 Variants....
There are Pros and Cons for each way. No real winner. Bottom gets my vote since the Pocket Upright argument is the only reason for it being on the top.
I prefer it at the bottom because my phone goes in my pocket upside down.
I, too prefer it at the bottom. My phone always go in my pocket upside down and it's more convenient for me that way. I wouldn't consider it a design flaw.

I remember Sammy tried to humiliate Apple because of this. It's really difficult to adjust to new things, but I like rear buttons though. My every device had/have headphone jack at the top. We'll see after a week or two, maybe my opinion will be different.
What wrong with the headphone jack locates in the bottom?
I thought it is perfect and very well-thought.
In fact, placing the jack on the top is just plain stupid.
a. listening music where the phone in the pocket, who care it's upside down or versa?
b. in the car, on the phone holder, using headset, in the bottom. Perfect. Who would want the headset cord hangs around from the top?
c. Jack at the bottom and on way to the left is even better since it has no interfere with phone holder's cradle.
It's well-thought well-made device.
I like the fact that the jack and the charging port are both on the same side, makes much more sense this way, especially if you use your phone in your car and have a dedicated stand for it. No other phone of mine except the Galaxy S had this layout.
I love it.

Still waiting for your opinion on why it's a design flaw...
This is definitely not a flaw. Just an opinion. I love it because I can put it upside down in my pocket, so it is a more natural motion when pulling it back out.
Sent from my VS980 4G
with the buttons on the top back it makes perfect sense to put the headphone jack to the bottom, the phone slides nice in the pocket and the cable doenst get in the way at all. with this orientation it feels also more natural to press the buttons while the phone is in the pocket.
It's a little strange using corded headphones if I have my phone in a stand on my desk, but I picked up the Tone+ BT headset and pretty much exclusively use that now, so it's not much of an issue.
TBH I never thought about putting my phone in my pocket upside-down. If I grab it out of my coat pocket and it's upside-down, I groan a bit.

Most MP3 players, like SanDisk Sansa series (Okay, okay, we can forget Apple and iPods), have headphone jack at the top. Sometimes on the side, but not at the bottom. It's tradition. Like gas and brake pedals in the cars. Great analogy, I think. You bought a car and see, that gas and brake pedals are in different position, than normal. Not a design flaw at all from car manufacturer! Innovation! I will try to write with left hand tomorrow too and will blame pencils makers, because I'm in 85% population.

so just because others do something, everybodyelse should do the same?
I like the headphone jack on the bottom, because as mentioned before - you put you phone upside down in your pocket you just take it out and have it in the right position to continue working/operating the phone - no changing of position required.
what i like even more - both the micro-usb port and the headphone jack are on the same side of the phone - that's something I was looking for for a long time now.
if u put your phone in a pocket with the top up. u have to rotate it in your hand.
this way it's perfect. just grab it and unlock

I'm an idiot... What's the small hole at the top of the V30?

asd
The small top hole is one of the microphones. There's an identical one on the bottom of the phone. So, you can make stereo recordings.
https://goo.gl/images/VqxsYw
The earpiece actually turns into a 3rd microphone for high decibel environments, like live concerts.
But that top one is one of the two "regular" microphones.
Thanks, I thought so. Is it only for recording, or for noise reduction too? Recording I don't care about. Also, should I plug it with glue?
Mastiff said:
On autopilot I was going to put in a SIM card in my brand new phone and pressed where the hole was on my previous phone. Bad mistake, I guess... I probably put it right through something vital. Because I used the small hole at the top of the phone. Not the side. The light wasn't all that good, so I didn't notice that there was no SIM holder there. My guess is that it is a mike of some sorts, but I tried to record sound and had no problems with that. And it seems like there's a mike at the bottom of the thing too. So what did I mess up this time?
Edit: And does this mean that the phone isn't water resistant anymore? Can I stuff a bit of black silicone glue (the type used in bathroooms) in there with the pointy tool to make it water resistant again?
Edit 2: Oh, please drop the idiot jokes. I know it! Googling I have seen that I am far from the only one that has done that, I just would like to know exactly what it is on this phone, and if I should plug the hole to keep i waterproof. That's rather important for me, because I am an avid hobby crawfish and crab fisher and will probably get water splashing over this.

Aren't there barometer measuring apps for that ?
I read that by checking on pressure you can find out if your phone is still water resistant

How about fixing it?
LG V30 Microphone Replacement
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/LG+V30+Microphone+Replacement/104093
If you don't want to tackle it, cell phone repair shop can.
That top mic is probably used for noise reduction during phone calls (since it's the top mic and you would speak into the bottom one), but used for recording stereo when actually recording? I'm sort of guessing on this.
If someone who is audio has better answer, jump in.
zacharias.maladroit, I have also read that. But I have read that it doesn't work as well, since the holes "breathe", they are mes of goretex or similar material. But I'll try anyway, thanks.
ChazzMatt, Interesting, thanks! Looking at that video at around 4:55 it may seem like the pin must have penetrated to the side of the microphone! I think I see the pinhole to the right of where the actual microphone is. As for fixing it, I am far to clumsy. But using a shop is of course an option, the only thing is that the phone is brand new and I'm guessing I'll loose the warranty for that. But I think I will first of all find out if the microphone isn't damaged, and then I will see what happens when I cover the hole. If it doesn't change the call qualty I will probably choose (at least for now) to glue shut that pinhole. If it is a problem for call quality I can maybe live with that using a silicone case and a piece of electrical tape over the pinhole when I go out to fish.
