aye, and it looks realy bad. that phone was flying over 2m before land on round... brando screen protektor saved display from scratches and gela skin custom cut saved back... but that frame is looking like made from marble...

i accidentally let my HD fell on the ground one day when i get off my car..
when i picked it up i found that there's a crack on the screen, and the phone won't turn on until i pull out the battery and put it back
initially i thought it would be the damage to the LCD screen, but seeing the boot up screen i see no damage to the LCD, instead feels like there's a protection glass between the touch surface and the LCD screen... which is broken by now
is there any way to get it repaired? i'm living in China and i bought the HD from UK...
I think the part that you are looking for is the touch screen part. Try looking at ebay for some spare parts, maybe you can try to fix it yourself at home.

I would advice you to contact HTC directly and explain them the problem. I am sure they would get back to you with a solution.

Hmm.. I thought the touchscreen shouldn't be usable if that's the touch screen part..? But it's still usable, just the crack is ugly on such an amazing device...
I don't think with my handwork I should try this myself disassembling my HD.. It would be stupid if I break something

Yeah, I'm trying to, but I don't know which HTC Care Center is the nearest from my place.. Maybe I should try to contact HK HTC Care instead..

Anyway, I was just wondering, if that glass is just for protection for such a enormous screen (I noticed Diamond don't have that class, you can see some waves on the LCD if you press hard enough; and at the same time mine broken but touchscreen still as sensitive as ever), maybe we can just customize some tempered glass like the iPhone screen and replace the original one?
It's a shame that it's so fragile, with the phone selling such a price. I could buy an LCD TV with the same price..
Any technicians can confirm what does that glass actually exists for?

Yeah, it's with screen protector.. But I don't think there's any help with just a slice of plastic sticking on the screen..
Anyway, the problem is I dropped it while it's in the stock pouch, screen parallel with the ground... Kinda lying on the ground

What do you mean by crust? Do you mean the front facia Bbit that goes round the screen?
EDIT: Also how easy is the fascia to replace? I'd be tempted to do it once mine has reached the end of its warrenty period to make it look as new again.

I recently picked myself up an unlocked AT&T Fuze for myself... My spouce was really envyous of my new toy, so I picked up a Sprint Touch Pro.... I got it used and at a good price... the one issue is the plastic cover over the screen is in rough shape... the touch part and screen are perfect though.. And I am not talking about one of those stick on protectors you buy.. the person who had the phone before me didn;t use one of those, and that is why it is like this... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance..

The cheapest trick for things like this is toothpaste, not the gel kind the old fashioned stuff, it'll smooth out screens like this.
Hi I drop my dell today on the floor and screen its cracked phone was bought about 3 moths ago so its still under warranty in tesco UK and dell ... also I got 1.9.0 streakdroid on it ... heh any ideas folks? did they goin to replace a screen for free? I ll lie them a bit and say " I had my phone in pocket and when I want answer the phone screen was cracked that may help?

I did the same the other day, ordered a new screen waiting for it to come. Bargain at £28. I think lying to them to get a new screen is a bit harsh behaviour its your fault you dropped it, and should be your responsibility to fix it at your own cost.
let me know about this screen is worth to buy if u get it , btw gorilla glass should protect the screen ...

Yeah to a certain extent but its not indistructable, mine dropped from 5 foot onto a tiled floor, and the glass didn't break, just the screen underneath, which is pretty strong IMO.

i have already swapped an lcd on my streak. easy to do. I have ordered my lcd also in china and quality was perfect...
some tips:
take attention to ALL cables, special the little cable for the buttons are sensitive.
remove Mainboard before removing lcd.
use a hair dryer to make double sided sticker, what will hold lcd in streak, warm before remove lcd
sure you will know what i mean, sorry for my bad english...

Pulled out the back glass.. replaced it with aftermarket tempered Glass protector.. Good luck with your waterproofing..

What a waste of a Z Ultra. Seeing the photo hurt me.
The back of the glass has a powder coat that gives it its black shine, I simply went over it with a Stanley blade for 30 minutes and it came off a piece of cake
The only thing keeping the phone waterproof is some adhesive tape that you'll find holding down any phone display which was a shock to see something so basic to keep the water out.
I only Tried it because I've got an Expensive vinyl gold carbon fibre film coming and a glass screen protector in the post tomorrow so if it did go wrong id be covering it up anyway. its a shame there's no motherboard to look at though just a big ass battery
