Creating a Rom - Which program is better? - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Hi there
i am making a rom for the touch pro
have been using PROvens rom for a long time now
but only today have i registered
Basically to cut a long story short what program would you recommend for creating the rom
i have the raphael kitchen from this website and also the ppc- Build os
are there any advantages to either one?
i have tried searching but i couldnt find a very helpfulll answer
also
for example if i wanted to base my rom on say PROvens
how would i extract the info from it
from what ive read it involves flashing it to the phone and then running the raphael kitchen extracter and getting the raw files
but isnt there a easier way to extract the info without flashing to a phone ?
sorry if the questions are a bit 'noobish'
thank you =]

Is it not easier to put the PROven rom in the Baserom folder? And then extract?

this might help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467943

Ill give you my useless opinion
If you are very new to cooking and only want to add or remove a few programs then ppc_buildos is very user friendly.
If your looking to majorly change a rom and want to get to the real internals of the OS you need to use the kitchens found here on xda.

Lol...before doing something like this you might want to learn to search...there is a massive amount of information in the wiki and other areas of XDA that talk about this over and over again....

thanx alot i googled how to cook roms for htc touch pro and raphael/herman and nothing came up so i figured it was out there. but thanx alot

Can someone help me ?

As you see, I could use some help
For the last month or so (since I own an Atom Life) I was waiting for a WM6.1 Build 21015 ROM to come out, but that has not happened.
I wanted to use things like this HTC Menu Replacement and this only runs on Builds above 21xxx.
Has anyone made a ROM like that and just not posted it here or is just no one interested in creating such a ROM ?
I would do it myself, but I suck at cooking, never even got a ROM to build correctly and I don't know where to find a Base 21xxx ROM to start with, also I don't know where to find the Drivers or other necessary Stuff to make the ROM usable on Atom Life.
So my question, short, is this: Is there such a ROM, if yes could you direct me to where it is to be found ?
If not, could you tell me where I can find the necessary stuff to create such a ROM ?
Maybe i'll register at PDAVIET to take a look there, if Google delivers an accurate enough Translation...
I'll be free to help you after 12 May. If you can wait for me till then, I'll be glad to help you, dude.
By the way, you can find the HTC-ported stuff in the Development & Hacking forum. And a software called called FingerSuite can replace the HTC Menu Enhancement(the original one won't work on Atom Life).
well, I just remembered that your ROM is already there, there is just one little Question I need to have answered, it's in your Thread
If this Question is answered, some Moderator is welcome to close this thread or delete it altogether

OEM & SYS Organizing?

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I'm pretty much a noob to the whole rom building area. My main problem is reorganizing the Oem and Sys folders from a stock rom. I know i could easily load someone elses Oem or sys that is already organized, but the takes all the fun out of it. So basically if anyone can give me a decent and detailed way, or point me in the right direction of doing this would be very much appreciated and helpful. I have already searched xda, ppc, and the web for such info and could find none.
thanks for your help.
P.S. Just got my Posting Cherry POPPed.

Thanks for the reply....yet i own a cdma touch pro. Now i have roms and kitchens from all over these sites... I've tried just about everything. I've gotten to the point where i just wanna make my own rom from scratch.. So all I'm looking for here is just some type of help on organizing the OEM folder. Just mainly get all the stock applications into their own modules. Thanks tho.
Have you looked at http://www.ppcgeeks.com/ ? There tends to be more CDMA activity over there than here.
Cheers,
Actually I have, I'm Always on these two sites and i know ppc is more for the whole cdma phones. I've always been a little more comfortable here...If that's alright with you folks. Plus I've found this site to be a lil more informative at times.
Just wanted to make sure you were informed since you're looking at building your own ROM and own a CDMA device ... last thing I'm sure you want to do is build a ROM that would brick your device.

What format do Samsung Android ROMs use? If it uses the regular update.zip recovery menu method, then give my HTC Android Kitchen a shot.
I think it does use the .Zip files but wen flashing roms its usually using odin
you can also flash updates using the sprint flashing tool i have a custom kernel from sdx-developers on mine that lets you use the update zip method from the recovery menu and i think thats been the easiest to do it
Sent from my SPH-M900 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Ok thanks. Where can i find this tool? Is it possible if this tool isnt right For my fone it will get bricked?
if i were to try the htc kitchen with my Behold 2, what phone would i choose from? or does it even matter?

Doesn't matter, the kitchen will auto-detect the correct addresses for re-building the kernel. In other places, if it asks you for your device type, just select "other".
But.. all this depends on whether your device's ROM has a boot.img .. I don't know how the Samsung ROM is structured ;-)
Finally LeshaK ported recovery to Samsung i5700, so it can be updated with a .zip... But I don't know if the structure is the same. Do you want a link to a rom to take a look?
Thanks guys if I make any thing then ill keep u guys updated
any news
hi any news regarding Samsung kitchen?
Well from what i have read you will need the source code and samsung is giving out the 2.1-update-1 source so i figured from that we could setup a kitchen somehow...I am new to this and the forums so i myself would like help setting up a Samsung Kitchen. I know c++/c# and java and i know it takes time and patients to cook them but its something i have always wanted to learn ever sense my HTC Hero.
Thanks ahead of time for any help the dev's here can give

I'm new to Samsung phones myself. I started on a G1, did some minor work on a Motorola Backflip & now I'm learning the Samsung Captivate. I rooted it with a simple update.zip flash from the stock recovery. I simply renamed the root.zip from the 1click-root I'm interested to find out if I can use my ANDROID Kitchen on the roms for it. Priv. Message me if you make any progress or if I can help.

[Q] How do I dump/make a backup of my ROM (TOUK)

Anyone?
I have searched on here, google, wiki and still can not find any info,
I'm looking @ flashing a custom rom but want to make a backup of my ROM 1st so I can revert if needed (not my setting or doc's etc my ROM)
Is there a tool to dump my official TMUK rom
Really cant believe it is so hard to find this info ;-(
Thanks in advance
go to rom development section, find the "leo official roms" thread, first post, first link, and download it from there.
you CAN dump the rom and then use a kitchen to rebuild it, but its not at all straightforward. compared to the ten minutes to download it, dumping it is a waste of time and effort.
Thanks for the reply,
sorry if it was a n00b type question,
just thought there would be an easy tool to DUMP a phones rom, (would have thought there would be one, my bad, - not used a kitchen - yet!!)
Anyway took a dive and flashed it now,,, well happy
Thanks again.
