[Q] How do I dump/make a backup of my ROM (TOUK) - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone?
I have searched on here, google, wiki and still can not find any info,
I'm looking @ flashing a custom rom but want to make a backup of my ROM 1st so I can revert if needed (not my setting or doc's etc my ROM)
Is there a tool to dump my official TMUK rom
Really cant believe it is so hard to find this info ;-(
Thanks in advance

go to rom development section, find the "leo official roms" thread, first post, first link, and download it from there.
you CAN dump the rom and then use a kitchen to rebuild it, but its not at all straightforward. compared to the ten minutes to download it, dumping it is a waste of time and effort.

Thanks for the reply,
sorry if it was a n00b type question,
just thought there would be an easy tool to DUMP a phones rom, (would have thought there would be one, my bad, - not used a kitchen - yet!!)
Anyway took a dive and flashed it now,,, well happy
Thanks again.

Creating a Rom - Which program is better?

Hi there
i am making a rom for the touch pro
have been using PROvens rom for a long time now
but only today have i registered
Basically to cut a long story short what program would you recommend for creating the rom
i have the raphael kitchen from this website and also the ppc- Build os
are there any advantages to either one?
i have tried searching but i couldnt find a very helpfulll answer
also
for example if i wanted to base my rom on say PROvens
how would i extract the info from it
from what ive read it involves flashing it to the phone and then running the raphael kitchen extracter and getting the raw files
but isnt there a easier way to extract the info without flashing to a phone ?
sorry if the questions are a bit 'noobish'
thank you =]

Is it not easier to put the PROven rom in the Baserom folder? And then extract?

this might help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467943
Ill give you my useless opinion
If you are very new to cooking and only want to add or remove a few programs then ppc_buildos is very user friendly.
If your looking to majorly change a rom and want to get to the real internals of the OS you need to use the kitchens found here on xda.

Read the sticky's they will provide all info needed regards Hard-SPL \ flashing custom ROMs then check out ROM threads and flash away, till you find the ROM you wish to keep.
No easy way to it, good luck.
On that note thread closed.

[Q] should i do it?

first of all hello to everyone, I am new to this site.
i came across this site since i have been searching for ROM developments to my phone.
i see this is a very comprehensive site with ALOT of information and i dont even know where to begin.
So i hope someone nice here will answer a few questions
First of all, is it worth upgrading to another ROM (one of these sticky threads ROM)
I've been looking at the Artemis but again im not sure what to choose.
Also no idea how to upgrade it and if anything goes wrong is it possible to backup the original ROM?
I like to upgrade since im not very fond of the original ROM, also a bit slow from time to time.
I am not a computer noob just very new to this. Hope someone will help or point me in the right direction.
hi there.
I whole heartedly recommend flashing a custom rom to your phone. I only flashed my first rom earlier this year. there are plenty of tutorials here on xda. this really is a great community.
search in the threads for MSkip's guide to flashing your first HD2 rom. Just always remember to read instructions thoroughly.
Roms are down to personal taste but I personally like the Energy series.
good luck.
I was afraid to, but now I'm glad I did (flashed like 5 times now, till found the ROM for me) Just remember to read all the ROM info and instructions carefully and for the love of God, have the proper Radio version for the ROM OR ELSE YOU WILL BRICK IT!

How to install RESURRECTİON REMİX İCS ROM v9.0?

Hi all,
I'm a really noobie on android customization and I was looking for the RESURRECTİON REMİX İCS ROM v9.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854&highlight=tutorial) and I read and searched over the dev thread and I saw the sequence and what I need to install, but the problem is: how to install those stuff? If anyone could help me on that I would appreciate that.
Thank you so much.
If you need to ask, you shouldn't for a moment consider trying. Wait for ICS to be officially released by Samsung for your device or do some reading yourself. Being a noob is a choice you make, not something you're born with.

Well, those files are needed to be added into your phone and then installed through CWM (Clockworkmod Recovery)
You'll want first root the phone with a kernel that has CWM as well. CF-Root would be the best one for beginners, you can find it on the Original Development thread and follow the steps there to root your device.
Afterwards, you'll want to reboot your device to CWM (Vol Up + Home + Power button when device is off) and install all the necessary files in sequence (using install zip from sdcard). First, make sure you do a nandroid backup incase you wanna go back to your old firmware if you regret it.
I'm pretty sure if you research more throughout the forums, you'll find out what you need to do (hell, it did for me, so it should for you as well)
Good luck!!
Read the sub forum stickys there's guides to rooting flashing etc.
XDA is a development site and a little leg work is needed.

Ok. Thank you both. I'll follow what you said and do a deeper research and reading. Thank you so much, sorry bothering.
