sync cradle compatibily? - Touch 3G Accessories

Hi,
anybody knows if sync cradles from other models like ELF will fit on JADE?
Thanks!

Not sure of Elf, but non compatible with Artemis
The mini USB pin seem to the other way round. Hence No No.
However the Cradle shape may also be not flush. Risky.

CONFUSED...is the blue angel connector same as the XDA II???

Ive read many post on here and others. I must say Im confused.
Is the new Blue Angel connector physically the same as the previous XDAII connector?
Are the pin outs the same?
Some people say no problem, some are filing theirs down??? Some are "forcing it in" - YIKES
i would love to know as well
The pin outs are the same - the connector is physically the same size, but there is one minor change - there is a little 'step' on one edge of the connector.
XDAII accessories, such as chargers, usb and gps do fit but you need to be careful when you insert them.
Forget my stupidity. I used to own the Siemens SX56 and had hotsync and car charger cables.
The question is now I have the Siemens SX66, is it safe to use the same cables from the SX56? I haven't tried it since I don't want to kill my new toy!
If anyone knows or can verify that it's safe it would be really appreciated.
I am using car charger, usb sync cable and wired gps that were originally bought for my XDA1, then used on XDAII and now work fine on MDAIII.
Do any of the serial keyboards work with XDA IIs?
I tried to connect the stowaway keyboard I used with my XDA II but it does not seem to work with my QTEK 9090.
I'm only guessing, but I would think that the drivers weren't written for wm2003SE.
I have the darfon fold out keyboard that I bought for my sx56, and last night I got it working just fine with my new sx66, so yes, they work. I needed to go to darfon.com and download the newest version of the driver.
I have one of the IR keyboards and the supplied driver works fine, but I have to balance the MDAIII on something to make it high enough for the IR receiver on the keyboard because the MDAIII IR is on the side.

They are not!!!!!
There is a voltage output from an XDAII when in a call, but the XDA IIs doesn't give the voltage!
Can't remember which pin off the top of my head but I have been testing this and found this to be a major problem when designing a proper car kit for both items!
..Spence
Bit worried about using my incar chrger from my xdaII for my IIs. Does anyone know where I can get a charger or usb sync cheaply for the IIs/pd2k? Expansys are charging £20! There's one here:
http://www.firstphoneshop.co.uk/o2-phone-accessories/o2-imate-pda2k.shtml
But i'm not sure its not just the old II charger...
Hi all,
I see birdog has put piccies up at:

(and thanks btw) but can anyone confirm this pinout?
Cheers!

Mini-USB audio adapters

Hello,
I just noticed there are many Mini-USB to 3.5 (or 2.5) audio adapters on sale at e-Bay, like this.
All of them seem to be for Motorola phones, though. Anyone has tried on the TyTN?
I seem to remember reading somewhere in GENERAL that they would not. Someone asked HTC and they said it was propietry - but they would have an adapter out soon(ish).
Rich
I can't see why it shouldn't work... it's just £5 so what's the loss if it doesn't...
EDIT: I've bought one today. I'll tell if it works or not....
The port is NOT proprietary. It is a standard mini-USB, and takes standard mini-USB cables.
They tweaked the socket a little bit to go along with their new proprietary headset.
In other words, you can plug in any standard mini-usb cable/accessory, but you can't plug the headset into any standard mini-usb port.
Sorta "dain-bramaged" if you ask me, but since I use a bluetooth headset, it's a non-issue.
Charge and audio simulataneously?
So, how do I both charge the unit and listen to music (wired headphones) at the same time? Does anyone know?
There is an alternative to an adapter. As they say on Blue Peter, here's one I made earlier.......
http://www.4winmobile.com/tutorial-replace-hermes-headset-connector-with-35mm-socket-vt3146.html
I asked htc for an adapter
here ist the answer:
Dear Sir
At present HTC does not manufacture, supply or support such a connection and HTC cannot supply such a diagram.

Easy answer: get an iPod!
Hello,
I tried one of those "motorola / razr" headphone adapters on sale at ebay. while the adapter fits nicely it doesn't work. Tytn just doesn't seem to recognize it.
Any thoughts of why it doesn't work and alternatives greatly appreciated.

If you look at the connector the motorola one has 5 pins across the top of the it. If you look at the Tytn on it has 5 pins across the top and 6 across the bottom. In order to be compatible with current chargers the top 5 pins supply the charging and the bottom 6 supply headset and serial connections.
I do not intend to use the "Line out" function of my TyTN often but it DOES lack an audio output. Sometimes I need to connect the device to speakers and etc.
It should be a modified mini USB port that the TyTN has and that must have saved some space over traditional 2.5mm sockets. We all know 2.5 sockets are not common and you need an apaptor to change it to 3.5mm anyway so prolly HTC gave up on the 2.5 and made the USB standard.
I am pretty sure that some accessory will come out.
Does anyone know if the Ebay adaptor cable will work on the TyTN?
Most of the ebay adapters are standard usb mini for use with the razor etc. These will not work. It needs to be an adapter specifically for the Tytn.
thanks! It is really stupid for HTC not to launch any accessories for the TyTN(or other releases).
Like the Atom Exec has factory cradle kit, battery, silicon cases, leather straps and etc. I don't even know where to get an extra battery!
Thought of one of these:

Sync/charge cradle for Wizard AND Magician

Hi
My wife has just bought a second-hand Tmobile MDA Compact II (Magician). It didn't come with a USB sync cable so she keeps borrowing mine - Grrrrr!
Rather than buy another sync cable, I would like to get a cradle that can be permanently in place and thereby to reduce the number of times I keep catching the cable and pulling the phone onto the floor (surprisingly tough Wizards).
My question is this: does anyone know of a cradle that can be used with both a Wizard AND a Magician? They both use the same mini-USB connector and have similar base profiles but the Wizard is about 50% thicker so I'm concerned that a Magician cradle will be too narrow for the Wizard and a Wizard cradle will be too wide for the Magician.
Any suggestions gratefully received (and yes, before you say it, I could get two but I'm desperately short of desk space).
TIA

Brodit Powered Car Mount/Holder Question

Hi
Does anyone know if the Brodit powered car holder for the Wizard fits the Hermes? Similar width and thickness of devices suggests the Hermes may fit in the Wizard holder, but can anyone confirm one way or the other?
Many Thanks
Chris
Why don't you just ask brodit?
[email protected]
No, it doesn't fit.
Actually the USB plug does not fit because on the wizard it is located in the middle and on the tytn it is located at right side buttom side.
But the whole phone itself stays in place very good (the tytn is a little bit thinner).
I had the same problem and I just took(cutting it off) the USB connector of the holder and glued it back at the right place so the tytn fits in it. Sounds a bit messy, but it looks fine. The usb plug should also be turned 180 degrees.
I am using this since 1 year and it works fine.

Charging alternatives

Like several others, my Truesmart arrived without the 2nd charger that I pledged for. Given the customised nature of the charge cradle I'd really like to have a backup in place (which is why I pledged for the extra charger in the first place). I have sent an email to OMate regarding this, but in the meantime I was wondering if there might be other solutions.
It appears that because of design changes, other cradles such as for SIm Valley/Pearl models won't fit the Truesmart.
Before the cradle the initial solution was a charging clip used similar to those used on other devices so I was wondering if something like this could be put into use:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-010-...99910199&sr=8-2&keywords=garmin+charging+clip
If anyone has any other ideas please post them here.
The Suunto X9/X10 watches used a similar USB charging/data clip. I have one, but haven't tried it yet. Wondering if I can assume that the pin-outs are the same...

I think we should see if if we can get pinout information for the omate and options before trying. I'm tempted to get a garmin cable but I want to try and track down the pinout information. I take a pretty risk averse approach to these things
It would be very easy to buzz out the 4 lines from the USB plug to the clip with a multimeter. Should not be necessary to ask anyone.
