Font problem in cooked ROM [SOLVED -- IN MINUTES!] - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

In my cooked ROM, I'm having a problem with the font on the HTC keyboard, and on the screen that comes up once the device is plugged into the computer (to choose between Activesync, Drive, and Internet sharing). I've found similar problems searching and tried applying those solutions, but I haven't come across exactly this:
When TF3D is disabled, the font for the keyboard and "Connect to a PC" screen drops out to Courier (and I've confirmed it is indeed courier, not just something that looks like it. When TF3D is enabled, they look fine.
I'm also reasonably sure I saw instances on my earlier build where the landscape of the keyboard would be fine, but in portrait mode, the font would drop out.
The solutions I've found in my searches suggested adding certain aliases under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\V1\FontAlias] in the registry. That hasn't helped. I've worked around the problem by copying one of the HelveticaNeue fonts (LT 35 Thin, I think) over cour.ttf in the windows folder, but I wouldn't be surprised if this has unexpected consequences in other applications.
The ROM uses a Fuzeberry-themed version of TF3D1.
The following fairly common HTC apps are omitted from my ROM (cooked with Da_G's 21500 Test 2):
HTC Comm manager (because I used a Rhodium version instead)
Enlarge Start Menu
Enlarge Title Bar
HTC Dialer
HTC Volume
TouchFlo (not TF3D, just TouchFlo)
HTC Startup screen
I -have- included HTCFontLink (Rhodium version, which is what comes with the kitchen). I have also made sure every TTF available in the kitchen is installed to the device. That includes: cour.ttf, HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin.ttf, HelveticaNeueOTS.TTF, tahoma.ttf, tahomabd.ttf, wingding.ttf
I find poking around the registry that there are several entries telling HTC apps to use "HelveticaNeue LT 55 Roman," which isn't installed. But there's also an entry under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink] that appears to alias that font to tahoma, which is installed.
Any insights?

I followed the below instructions, and it fixed it for me. I could probably make a cab for you, if you'd like (I have these fonts saved to my Storage Card)

To get the proper fonts to display in USB2PC, as well as the HTC keyboard, you need to grab 1e8c4d7d_manila and 6582c9b1_manila, rename them to their proper names (just add .ttf and open them with the default Windows Fonts thing), and add them to \Windows\Fonts\.

EDIT: Just in case you want to try it, I've attached a cab with the font files, that will copy them into the Fonts folder. LMK if it works.
EDIT2: Per your request, the font files are attached in a zip file. Perhaps the cab will help others who are running a no-manila ROM.
EDIT3: I appear to be one step behind you at every post, lol. Ah well. At least that wasn't really any work for me .

That would be great (or even just a zipped copy of the fonts themselves, no need to cab them up for me).

Oh wait, I just realized where you mean to grab the manila files --as in from my existing install (or kitchen). Never mind -- you don't need to do anything, I can grab them myself. Thanks for the tip!
EDIT: Hah - As I was typing this, you got up both the zip AND the cab! Thanks for such a quick response, and for the upload. Gotta love XDA!

Hi, I thought I updated htc fontlink with the missing font (HelveticaNeue LT 35 Roman.ttf)
It's there on my end, did I forget to upload?

I think 35 was there, but not 55 -- this is as of 21500 Test 2. Haven't ventured into new-kitchen-territory yet

I haven't seen 55 in use, which program uses it?

It seems that the "Connect to PC" screen does (and likely the keyboard, but I can't test that since I'm running a version of my ROM that omits the HTC keyboard).
When I used FontCreator to rename a copy of Tahoma Bold (new filename "neue Helvetica LT 55 Roman.ttf", new font name "HelveticaNeue LT 55 Roman) and copied that into the windows folder, it used that for the Connect screen.
Both 35 and 55 are included in the cab Captain_Throwback put up.
Like I said, I think I noticed (in a previous build where I was using the HTC keyboard) that it looked right in landscape, but not portrait. So I wonder if it's possible the keyboard uses 35 in landscape, and 55 in portrait. Not near my home machine or phone anymore to take a closer look.
Does the system register those manila files (which are just TTFs in disguise) as fonts only when TF3D is running, and that's why we need to use these copies the rest of the time?

Yeah, manila registers the fonts when it's cooked in...
Although, both the HTC keyboard and usb popup are using the 35 font on my end, don't have the 55 font installed, or touchflo3d, it uses tahoma when 35 isn't installed..
I do see that they specifically call for the 55 font, but seem to use 35 fine without it.
Just an observation

That's odd, because on mine it definitely was using 55, at least while TF3D is off. If I had a 55 (even if it was another font renamed), it used that. If I had no 55, it used courier. 35 was definitely installed and available.
I wonder if the behavior is different when TF3D isn't cooked in at all than it is if TF3D is cooked in, but disabled. Or maybe if there's something specific about the TF3D package I used. I'm at work, but I'll take a closer look at what it's putting in to the registry later.
Good news is, the cab works like a charm.

I found it works fine on my diamond rom if Manila is cooked in wether it is enabled or not - connect to pc screen, ezinput 1.5 & volume control use the correct 55 font however if manila is not cooked in the rom I had to add the 55 font for them to appear correctly and not as courier. The rom already had 35 cooked in from htc fontlink. Hope this helps

Real VGA

This is the new Real VGA release.
With Real VGA you can change the DPI setting and the language of any WM6 base deivce. Install the desired packages and the Real VGA package.
Later on I will release some device specific Add-On to support the programs added by HTC for example.
If you get a warning about missing DLLs report them in the next message in this thread. Please edit this thread instead of posting your own list because otherwise it will be very hard to track.
The DPI packs are available for 96dpi and 128dpi. The new HTC Home plug-in seems to run pretty well in 96dpi
The Language packs are available in the next post. If you need any additional language feel free to request them.
Important! Please note that currently they are designed only for ENGLISH OS versions. The may behave unpredictibly under other OS.
- Version 1.1
I just released a new version. If there are some dlls missing for you desired langauge than it tries to make a copy the dlls in your device for the new language. As a result some programs may show up in English but I think this is much better than not working at all. I will prepare additional packs to support all the device specific applications as well but in the meanwhile you will have them at lease in English
If you have used version 1.0 already then please switch once to English and then back to your desired language.
- 14.9.2007
I have included in both DPI packs a fix to close the gap at the bottom of the phone
And here are the language packs
And here are the language packs
Language Packs
Do I understand the language packs correctly?
It means for example if you have installed an english based ROM and install the german language pack all windows dialogs, keyboard layouts and so on are like in a german ROM?
Thanks.
Can you release Italian language pack?
Great Work Tobias!!!!!!
Great work, looking forward installing it, but... Can you please post pics of all three
dpi's! Thanks!!!!!!

Can you do a Khmer language pack?
Hi Tobias,
Your application works great I just have an issue with a couple of today plugins, in my Axim X50v with WM6 I've installed Today warrior http://personales.ya.com/beemer/todaywarrior1.htm and claunch, both in real vga or qvga looks the same as in real vga because those are vga aware, however when I switch to 128 resolution some elements on Today Warrior and the icons in claunch doesn't show properly, I'm attaching screenshots for the 3 resolutions, thanks in advance for your help

This whole thing is designed only for WM6. Expect problems when using with WM5. I'm also using the German language pack and Excel and the Recent File list work as expected. You should try to get a WM6 update.

That depends on what you want to use. If you only want to use 128dpi, then you only need RealVGA and the 128dpi cab. Equally, if you want to try the 96 dpi, you need to install that cab.
Still missing some icons...
Spb Pocket Plus is still missing some icons in 128 dpi mode. Otherwise it works great.
Two more small items: I liked the "visual" selection method better, where there was a little thumbnail that showed what that resolution was going to look like-- with a drop-down selection method I have to keep it in my head which resolution does what. Plus, they're not even in order of size in the drop-down.
Finally, how about a program icon for RealVGA? Right now it just has the default blank application icon.
Sorry about the gripes. You've really done a superb job on the whole.

I also liked the previous "visual" selection system. With the new system I don't see a choice to return to the 96 dpi QVGA mode.
I see the phone skin now reaches the bottom of the screen, but the CommMgr screen is still messed up. (I'm now using one of the Kaiser CommMgr cabs, which displays on only 1/4 of the screen, but provides for clear selection of your choices.)
Overall its a great improvement over the previous true VGA utilities. Thanks for all your work Tobias... I'm loving the 128 dpi mode.
Steve
Works great Tobias!
I am amazed at how you satisfied everyone with different dpi settings, and language packs.
One question, how tall are the 'Start' bar at the top of the screen and lower bar in the 96dpi mode? I am searching the registry but can not locate that setting.

Manila Dialer Black text workaround/fix

Unfortunately this is only a workaround but it is an effective and easy solution to an irritating problem ! the idea is to change the background out for a white one so the black text shows !! to that end I have included all the files you need to sort this out !
all you have to do is use the reg editor (task manager) included with ap 4.0 tap on the process's tab and kill a process called cprog.exe (this runs the phone service and has access rights to the files you want to modify). After that copy the included files into the windows folder, i did it whilst using active sync) through browse mobile device on my computer for simplicity after editing the pics.
I am also including the originals incase you want to go back !! of course this is now opening the door for any manor or wonderful custom backgrounds for the dialler screen, and infact a whole host of other HTC software including the mp3 trimmer, which also has it's "BG" pics in the windows folder.
anyone who is running 96dpi like me will have noticed that there is space at the bottom of the dialer pad that allows you to see the app running behind the phone, this is now easy to fix and requires these files to be modified in size to cover the currently vacant area, although idealy we need to work out a way to make the bars twice as large in 96DPI to make them finger friendly !
If get round to it I will make the adjustments for 96DPI but it is good as is for all resolutions
and here are the originals
i think the cab you have is bad. i remember i uploaded the addons with a manilla cab that was a bit messed up and i think the text there was messed up. a few min after i uploaded a fixed addons rar.. the text should be find in the new addons cab. i remember i used it to before and there was no text problems.

Ho hum, that took me ages to do and was quite clever by my standards. I only upgraded to AP4.0 yesterday, as I was waiting for a fix to downgrade the SPL on my last ameo before sending it for a warranty repair, in the end I could not wait any longer and just chanced sending in my old phone, which is good, as I now have a new phone
all this is relevant to what you said because I downloaded AP4.0 and the add-ons as soon as they came out, and have not really sifted through the thread because it is huge!
mental note to self RTFM, I could have spent my time productively going through the thread instead of inverting colours in paintbrush !

[MOD]TouchFlo 2D On Athena...

Actually this is a modifying thread for TF2D (TouchFlo 2D)! So maybe some experts can help and make this into VGA compatible then all the Athena users can use this. BTW i have this installed on my device and it works like a charm! But the problem is that it takes only 1/4 of the screen cause its QVGA... I asked Herg (the one who released this as a beta) and he told me that we have to :
1.Dissassemble and reassemble the exe files
2.Making pictures 2 times bigger (actually we can use diamond so we can skip this step)
3.Changin some xml files.
Now I am asking all you guys that can do this to help us and let Athena users taste this thing...
All the credits go to yourselves and definitely Athena users and me appreciate what you'll do for us.

Help
Hi Guys, as an x7510 owner I would like to see touchflo 2d ported to vga too and I may help with it too, right now I have some work to finish but hopefully in a few days I should be able to have a look on things till then could someone get me a "build" or "zip" that contains the original Diamond pictures (or point me to one) as those all already at vga mode so why redo something that already exists and then I could focus on the other changes.
If someone already picked up this work and got to somewhere please let me know so we combine our forces

suggests editing the XML will allow different screen sizes.
I created a new thread on this subject which should cover this request too, please post your comments there as it is not just HTC Athena but all HTC VGA devices should work with it:

It is very simple, go to the last thread linked, there is a post there that tells you what to do, you download the original m2d, whatever the lastest version is. then after installing you overwrite the files with the VGA ones to the windows folder..
I've just re-read the topic and it makes sense to me.
It's very easy to do.
0---------
Installations / Download
To install please follow the steps found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173 <--- basically get the last file listed and install it from here, otherwise the original poster will have to redo is post everytime the other thread is updated.
and after you have everything up and running (even in the little left corner of your screen but working) then go to "Start->Settings->Today->Items" and uncheck "TouchFlo" press OK then download this zip file and extract the content to \Windows\ directory on your device.
TouchFlo2D VGA - Ver. 0.1.3
http://rapidshare.com/files/15138227...0.1.3.zip.html
Then go back to "Start->Settings->Today->Items" and check "TouchFlo" again press ok and the full resolution TouchFlo should appear.
IMPORTANT: It seems with the latest Manila2d release (1.00...) the files are installed in read only state so you won't be able to overwrite the files unless you remove the Read only state from the files which are all files in \Windows directory starting with HH_..... and HTCHomeSettings.xml and then all files in \Windows\ManilaGFX
----
You need a proper file program, the one that's built into windows mobile is pants. It can't overwrite files in rom or read only.
I'm presuming since you have an athena you know something about windows mobile, these aren't novice devices, if you don't then I'd really really advise you to do some reading.
For the sake of ease, download total commander, it's free and very powerful, search the forum using the search at the top and you'll find millions of links to it.
In /windows folder after installing the original m2d (not the VGA version) using total commander, select SHOW>select/unselect files> type in hh* and everything beginning with those will appear selected, While they are selected (highlighted) press FILE>properties and untick the readonly box.
Do the same to all the files in /windows/manillagfx
Now open where ever you saved the vga files and copy the entire lot across to windows, and accept overwrite all
@fards thx a lot.. very detailed description so even I managed to install manila 2d
TF2D Feedback
Moderator - I am posting here as my comments are based on use on X7501 with factory ROM, if this is an incorrect place please mirror to appropriate section - there are too many to choose from!
First impression on update 20 - EXCELLENT WORK EVERYONE!
Overall device performce only slightly reduced, all programs work as before, touchflo finger slider on bottom works very smoothly.
The Home, People, Messages, Mail, Weather, Maps Search, Settings and Programs Tabs ALL work Perfectly!
Feedback for next update on Tabs.
Internet - Can a GUI selection of browser be incorporated so registry edit is not necessary to change default browser? So one can choose IE, factory Opera or other.
Photos and Videos - Pictures do not flip with finger swipe & picture takes up one quarter of frame
Audio Manager - Library and Player screen uses only top left quarter of screen, the rest is scrambled static in library and black in player. In Library, the text does not refresh in static area, and piles up into solid bar. Would it be easier (or possible) to simply link to media player 10 like HTC Home, get rid of audio manager, then redundant software is not needed?
With these updates it would work perfectly as if OEM.
Are you running successfully in Landscape?
Hi anx7501. I have a x7510 and have also loaded the Manila ver 20 and then pijulius TouchFlo for VGA devices over the top. However, I have had limited success in getting the screen to show as I would like in landscape.
Beacuse of the size of the clock and lack of space in landscape I've been trying to recode the HTCHomeSettings.xml so that Alarm, Call History and Calendar will all continue to show in Portrait, but only Calendar shows in Landscape leaving room for the Tabs along the bottom. I have atempted to do that by editing the lines for Alarm and Call History by inserting zeros thus: <Property name="IDHMWG_MISSEDCALLBTN_RECT" id="30" value="24,304,456,364, 0,0,0,0" /> but alas it is not working.
Have you managed to "crack the code" on this, or come up with an alternative solution - maybe a smaller clock?
Also have you found any alternative skins that will brighten up the device from the basic black?
Finally for some reason my Brightness slider is stuck in the left position. I don't remember this being the case when I had Manila ver 17 loaded. Does your slider work OK?
Hi robjhellis,
Regarding the landscape issue, because this was created for device like diamond with puny screen, it was intended for portrait so I haven't bothered to play with it, also landscape requires an extensive redraw in addition to resizing - I just don't have the time. Though someone in another thread has already resized M2D to work in landscape; however, I don't remember if it was for QVGA or VGA, when I find it again I will post the link here.
Try looking at this for landscape mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436753&highlight=m2d+landscape
I have a Mugen Power 2400 mha battery which lasts a full day, sometimes a little more, with factory ROM. With M2D installed, it chewed through the battery in half a day so for that reason I didn't adjust the brightness and left it alone. The programs I concentrated on were graphic intensive like Adobe reader and dwf viewer. After a few days of only half-day use between recharge, I hard reset and went back to HTC-Home VGA which provides similar tabs (weather, programs), dosen't chew through the battery and works in landscape. I think that because of the difference between devices with factory TF2D - ours has to max out CPU & GPU to operate smooth killing the battery. Short of creating new video driver specifically for our ATI chip, I don't think there's a workaround - btw how's your battery life?
There is a thread in Development and Hacking with M2D skins posted, try there and see if you find something you like.
I really like what I saw and admire the work evryone did, but I rely on my advantage heavily and didn't want to have to recharge or change battery at lunch - sadly I had to drop it. Hope you had/have better luck with yours.
Thanks for your follow-up. I discoverd that the Brightness slider issue was a known bug for vers. 20 & 21 of manila. A fix patch has been created and appended to post 2 (the fixes post) on the manila thread.
As for mbarvian's work on landscape, whilst its great work it does not appear to do anything for us on the VGA advantage/athena. With nthe keyboard attached I can use the left and right arrow keys to move between pages so that is a definate work around to not havig the tabs showing.

Manila 2D on WM6.1 Standard

Hi guys,
As mentioned in my subject, is there an non touchscreen Manila 2D for 6.1 ?
No, s740 has an almost standard WM SP HomeScreen
but it is use custom plugins
@Alexx_B: You are wrong.
@rubik: Please search before you post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435387&highlight=manila
im glad you brought this up.
we 6.1 standard users can run manila 2d. it wont be the default homescreen. and it takes some work to get it running. but when it is. its great.
the problem we have on our rose juno rom is manila requires 96 dpi on a wmstandard phone to operate correctly. The rose when set to 96dpi atleast in our juno rose rom the dlls can not handle it and we get white boxes at the top of the screen.
i have a set of sys files for s740 that is setup for 96 dpi but when i cab the dlls the phone freezes.

s740 has an HTC Sliding panel theme (HTCSlidingPanel.home.xml)
it is same as default WM6.1 sliding panel, but use custom homescreen plugins like HTCWeather etc.
You can try rather Manila2D ports of course, but default theme is not Manila
He didn't ask if there is Manila by default. He asked if it is possible to run Manila on Windows Mobile Standard.
ShadowMike,
I am a little concern that your development has been on the Shadow whereas we are Rose users. As you mentioned, we need 96dpi for the M2D to work. Will 96Dpi work on a Rose ? I followed your thread and there has been some problems with 96dpi for other users. I am just worried that install it on my Rose will end up with a hard reset ;P
Btw, when are you going to dump the Shadow and use a real Rose

yes your right. i do need to get rid of this shadow.
you dont really have to worry about the dev being on the juno over the rose. because 1. all of my rom files are from the rose except for main drivers and chipset drivers. and the only thing i changed to hergs manila cabs was i took out the PPC HTC SETTINGS DLL as it caused the standard settings screen to not show up. and put a shortcut to manila in the start menu. everything else with manila is all original htc files.
also the 96 dpi has problems with newer builds of WM as the dlls for the old 96dpi is comprised of an older build WM. the good thing about my 96DPI hack is you can uninstall the cab and your rose/juno/vox/WMStandard phone will be back to 131 and you would never know that you had 96 dpi. what i do on my juno is ill run 96 dpi, restart then run manila. then when i dont want to run manila. i uninstall 96dpi restart and back to 131.
a cook for the meteor gave me his sys files for his rose 96dpi rom. but the dlls need to be cooked in as when i make a cab with the new 96dpi dlls the phone freezes and need a hardreset.
also on my instructions i added the landscape fix. so when you slide your rose open if using manila you should get the landscape screen. however i dont know if youll be able to use the dpad to use the landscape screen.

yes your right. i do need to get rid of this shadow.
you dont really have to worry about the dev being on the juno over the rose. because 1. all of my rom files are from the rose except for main drivers and chipset drivers. and the only thing i changed to hergs manila cabs was i took out the PPC HTC SETTINGS DLL as it caused the standard settings screen to not show up. and put a shortcut to manila in the start menu. everything else with manila is all original htc files.
also the 96 dpi has problems with newer builds of WM as the dlls for the old 96dpi is comprised of an older build WM. the good thing about my 96DPI hack is you can uninstall the cab and your rose/juno/vox/WMStandard phone will be back to 131 and you would never know that you had 96 dpi. what i do on my juno is ill run 96 dpi, restart then run manila. then when i dont want to run manila. i uninstall 96dpi restart and back to 131.
a cook for the meteor gave me his sys files for his rose 96dpi rom. but the dlls need to be cooked in as when i make a cab with the new 96dpi dlls the phone freezes and need a hardreset.
also on my instructions i added the landscape fix. so when you slide your rose open if using manila you should get the landscape screen. however i dont know if youll be able to use the dpad to use the landscape screen.

[ROM] 043009 -- 'LouzeBerry' 6.5 -- standard TF3d, Fuzeberry, Build 21500

Versions based on newer 21215 HERE
'Louzeberry' 6.5 ROM -- Version 043009 (changelog below)
This is my latest personal build. I'm posting it because I didn't notice any chefs putting together 6.5s with the standard TF3D, and I figured there might be people like me who are waiting until xboxmod gets done with converting the shipped version of TF3D2 to make the switch.
Getting to know this ROM:
* 6.5 Build 21500 (Versions based on newer 21215 HERE).
* TF3D STANDARD with the FuzeBerry theme (turned off by default in favor of the new 6.5 Titanium interface; you can switch it in the Today settings).
* FuzeBerry for the 6.5 Titanium interface.
* Rhodium menu enhancement and Tachi-style notifications.
* The HTC Dialer is no longer installed, starting with 042909. There is a known conflict between the HTC Dialer and the lock screen in this version of WM6.5. BUT the standard dialer is skinned to look much better than it does by default.
* HTC Volume is omitted, because it won't change in-call volume without the HTC Dialer. Instead, this volume app which is skinned to look almost the same is included.
* HTC Album 2.5, with the social networking uploaders. I'm not crazy about the new behaviors 3.0, or about the fact that the uploaders aren't currently included in that version.
* Opera 9.5 16277, Advanced Config, Google Maps, Titanium Customizer, Total Commander, Weathermaster (all uninstallable)
* Keyboard configured for the Fuze. Use this if you've got a non-Fuze Touch Pro.
* Available with and without HTC on-screen keyboards.
* Removed certain TF3D tabs (see 042409 changelog). If you want them back, disable TF3D and unzip this to your windows folder.
* User Customization compatible.
* Any trouble installing items or accessing 'net with with JBEd? Change this setting. (Thanks to DN).
* Hotfix: "Phoneagent fix." If you're using a 042909 or 043009, the "Phone" softkeys don't work. This takes care of that.
Changelog / Download:
043009NOKB - NO HTC Keyboard version (makes using 3rd party keyboards easier)
043009NB- HTC Keyboard included
- Updated to Opera 16277
- Power-saving tweaks enabled by default
- Connection setup won't try to start before initial customization
- JBed Start Menu shortcut added back
- Fixed ugly fonts in keyboard / PC Connection screen fixed when TF3D was disabled
- Hotfix: "Phoneagent fix." If you're using a 042909 or 043009, the "Phone" softkeys don't work. This takes care of that.
042909NOKB - NO HTC Keyboard version
042909KB - HTC Keyboard included
- No longer includes HTC Dialer, to avoid conflicts with WM6.5 lock screen, BUT skins the default dialer to look pretty nice (thanks to Davey01)
- HTC Volume is omitted, because it won't change in-call volume without the HTC Dialer. Instead, this volume app which is skinned to look almost the same is included.
- Incorporates the 042509 hotfixes. SMS freeze should be gone. Scroll wheel should work (and in lots of apps besides just the ones enabled on stock)
- Switches to jbed package provided by NRGZ28 (small goof, missing jbed shortcut in start menu; install this to fix it)
- Hotfix: Ugly font in keyboard when TF3D is off, or in the "Connect to PC" screen? Install this (Cabbed up courtesy of Captain_Throwback)
- Any trouble installing items or accessing 'net with with JBEd? Change this setting. (Thanks to DN).
042509NOKB - NO HTC Keyboard version
042509KB - HTC Keyboard included
- Fixed Comm manager issue
- Replaced Jbed with a different version. This one includes Opera Mini and the Gmail app out of the box, both available from Start menu
- "Programs" softkey in TF3D home, which didn't 't do any good without the programs tab available, Changed to "Contacts"
- Today screen previously had "Contacts" for both the right and left softkeys if neither TF3D nor Titanium was enabled. Now it'll be Contacts / Phone (just like TF3D)
- Fix for issue where the HTC keyboard can cause a freeze when typing in an SMS recipient name. Edit: Maybe not. But this should work: Install this hotfix if you have this problem.
- If there was indeed a problem preventing "Favorite Contacts" from being installed, it seems fixed. Working just fine on my tests.
- Speed boosts (no need to d/l that cab from the 042409 changelog)
- Install this hotfix to get the scroll wheel working in lots and lots of applications.
042409nokb - No HTC Keyboard version
042409kb - HTC Keyboard included
- New default TSK theme is a modified "Rock and Republic Black," with wallpaper by yours truly
- Holding down power button now brings up PSShutXP
- Removed the following tabs from TF3D: Calendar (doesn't do anything), Programs (I just use the 6.5 start menu), Call History (same settings are already in TF3D), Communications (ditto), Sounds (ditto). If you want them back, disable TF3D and unzip this to your windows folder.
- Tachi notifications are again uninstallable. May eliminate them from the next version and just provide the cab.
- "LB" Wallpaper in three colors. All included wallpapers (except "minimalistic") are now by me.
- More cleanup to save a small amount of extra space on the device
- New welcomehead
- You can boost performance with this cab (tweaks to be included by default in next release; this was updated a few times with more tweaks - the most recent version was put up in the early hours of 042509, and is def. worth redownloading if you got it before then)
(See txt file for 042209 and before)

Calendar problem
Hi, very nice try i prefer TF3d and more tabs, i flashed the rom from yesterday because with other 6.5 versions i had problem with GPS it makes disconnection several times. I don't have this problem any more. The inly bug is that the calendar in TF3d doesn't work.
Thanks
When you say the calendar doesn't work, how exactly do you mean? If it's just that all you can do is view the month, but not interact with it (no clicking through to the date, no seeing appointments, etc) that's really all there is to the calendar in this version of TF3D. It's sort of a pointless tab.
Nice in deed. I have made a FuzeBerry for WM 6.5 if anyone would like it to match TF3D....
Calendar problem
Yes i mean this excactly, but if you can only view the month in this version of TF3D then the rom is the only one with no GPS problem.
Thank's again and i will give feedback if i find any bug.
Thanks Matt -- Think that's working it's way into my next version. Do you have an existing OEM package for it you could point me to?
Pirgas -- Glad to hear the GPS works for you, but I haven't done anything special to it. I would think most of the ROMs built off Da_G's should work, unless the chefs have been tinkering with settings I haven't touched.
I don't know either what's the problem but after i flashed your rom i installed the same programs with other chef's roms. After that in your rom the GPS is locking very fast also battery drain is lower than other roms
regards
John
Hey Lou,
got any screen captures of your new rom?
Sounds interesting...
New version coming later today/tonight (Thursday) with some enhancements/additions, including the Fuzeberry theme for the 6.5 interface. Will put up some screenshots then.
this is one sweet rom one of the best. recently switched to wm6.5 roms and this one has to be the fastest of them all. I was hoping you could add some stuff like the finger keyboard, it takes forever to install afterward, and maybe the 4-in-a-row programs and settings honeycomb menu, 3 in a row is just not enough. and maybe some little programs nuelite, google maps, opera, and sort them in categories, like all chef's do.
But dont have to listen to me its a great rom as it is. Keep it up.
Google Maps and Opera will be added in tonight's build (both as cabs during initial customization, so uninstallable or easy to replace with an upgraded version). Possibly also switching to 21202 as well; not sure yet. May add Fingerkeyboard in the future -- the authors request that chefs contact them first and I haven't yet. Advanced Config also probably in tonight's.
Glad it's fast for you, but it's essentially just a build off of Da_G's kitchen with very little modification -- i barely know what i'm doing yet as a chef, so I'm going slow.
Also in tonight's, if i stick with 21500, I'll be rolling back to an earlier version of the lock screen that fixes a few issues. No fix I know about yet for the dialer/lock screen conflicts, though.
Build will be posted sometime late-night. I'm at work until around midnight.
Cool then I might just try making my own rom, but i have to warn you you have already made and have most of the things i want in mine so it will look a lot like yours.
I just have one q... How did you get calendar in the original touchFlo thats the only reason I like the rhodium is for the calendar but somehow you got it in te original TouchFlo.
Please, tell me where you got it.
Certain themes for the original TF3D include a Calendar -- including Fuzeberry. All it does is show the month, unlike the TF3DII version, where you can actually use it to see your calendar events. But if it's useful for you, it's there. If not, you can disable it (and any other tabs you may not use) in Advanced Config (which will be part of the new build).

I'm on the same Radio (which I highly recommend, actually), and haven't had a problem. Try uninstalling the "turbo GPS" item under "Remove programs" and see if that helps.
What GPS program are you using? I've only tested with google maps.
EDIT: FYI - Putting up a new build without those GPS Tweaks and with a (hopeful) fix for the audio skipping that's been a problem with this generation of HTC devices ... will be ready in a few ...
i use igo8 and destinator7 and both have the same problem. i updated the radio to 1.14.25.05 but nothing. With your first rom the things are better but the problem is still there. Not so often but it exist. I tried almost all the 6.5 roms and i think i will go back to 6.1. I have spend a lot of time on this problem and i don'n know if it worth . i 'll give a final try on B version .
Thank's a lot for your time and your nice rom

If you haven't flashed yet (and you're on a Fuze) wait for 041809, building and uploading now. Same as 0417, but configured for the Fuze rather than TP. Also, in 041708, the AGPS wasdisabled by default -- it's enabled and set up for AT&T here. BIG difference if you're on AT&T.
Excellent ROM....Thank you
I have a couple of ideas for...please don't take the wrong way
1. Tools for customizing/configuring that work with your ROM
example: HTCWeatherMaster, TF3D Config.
The reason I pointed these 2 out because I've installed several versions and can't get it to work.
2. Can we have a shortcut for AudioManager
I haven't come across a TF3D or TF3D2 ROM with one yet. I'd be nice to access our music from the programs tab also.
3. Throw in a basic BLACK theme to match TF3D's background or include pairs so that we can match both right out the box.
Again...Excellent ROM.
I haven't tried any 6.5's because they all included TF3D2 which still has too many issues I don't want to deal with.
I also like how you took all the good from TF3D2 to create this ROM.
I'm running 041509 version right now by the way (@ time of this post).
DWNY (responding point by point)
1) Sure, I can include those, but what wasn't working when you tried them? Did the install fail? Did they fail to do what they were supposed to?
2) Do you mean the TF3D music tab, or the music player program included on some other HTC devices? If you know of a good working version, point me in the right direction.
3) Let me see what I can do -- I haven't paid much attention to whether TSK files from older versions of WM work on 6.5, or if there are any new good versions of Black made specifically for 6.5. I'll poke around and see what I can learn. But you do realize that background on TF3d is no background at all, right -- there's just no default wallpaper set.
Might be a day or two before I get to a new build. When I do, I'll upload versions both including and excluding the HTC keyboard.
Wordsmith9091 (responding point by point)
Thanks for the response.
1. The 2 I mentioned installed but ran with errors.
2. Yes, the music player that launches from the music tab. I thought/think it is AudioManager. I've come across all the pieces to TF3D/TF3D2 but not music player. I tried an older version from the TILT....no go.
3. But you do realize that background on TF3d is no background at all, right -- there's just no default wallpaper set.
I used a .TSK from 6.0, 6.1 and the background does change along with the bars. Some .TSk don't change both, bottom & top bars sometimes.
Thanks again....looking forward to new builds.
