Bluetooth headset for Diamond 2 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Accessories

I am looking for bluetooth headset for diamond 2 mainly for listening to music.
Any recommendation for this?
Samsung SBH-650 and Sony DS-205 are both under my consideration. Is the capatibility and sound quality good?
Thanks so much!

Hi,
I spent a long time searching for a decent pair of bluetooth headphones and I finally settled on the Sony DR-BT50. They're fairly comfortable, they have much better bass than most bluetooth headsets and the autonomy is unbeatable... I think that they're a good choice if you don't mind the size.
You'll want to use Advanced Config Tools to change the bitpool and sample rate settings on your phone but once you've done that you'll get quite a nice sound for wireless headphones.

Thanks so much NeoGreendawg.
Would you please kindly tell what to be changed about the bitpool?

I use the DS205 and I like it. I'm impressed by the audio quality - both from the phone and the headset. Used it in two meetings today and talk time of 5h wasn't a problem for that headset.

These are my bluetooth settings for Advanced Config Tools :
Bitpool: Very high
Maximum bitpool: 128 (but I read somewhere that 80 is best)
Minimum bitpool : 65
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
I don't really know if those are the best settings but it sounds much better compared to default settings with my headphones.

I use the Sony HBH-DS200. It seems to be very similar to the DS205 except cheaper, possibly because it's an older model. I agree with mrbister, the audio quality is superb, I prefer it to the quality straight from the TD2 itself, and I'm fussy about audio quality.
The only niggle with the DS-200 (and probably the 205 too): the volume control is not user friendly. You have one button which you keep pressed and the volume ramps all the way down and up again. if you just want to raise it slightly this is a pain. You're better off adjusting it on the TD2.
You do need to set the TD2's bluetooth settings very high (Bitpool: very high, max 90, min 80). The TD2 heats up quite a bit when streaming (possibly because of these settings) and the battery goes down quickly, but the link is very reliable, and you can still do other things like surf at the same time. I also stream internet radio via bluetooth, but that really does heat the phone and shorten battery life. Still works fine though.
I can't praise the Sony 200 enough, i'm getting another as a spare.

Thanks so much mrbister, NeoGreendawg and Pete_S.
I think I will go to buy DS205 because of the superb sound quality!

I think the ds205 has another kind of volume button compared to ds200:

The bluetooth headset is a different thing from the bluetooth handsfree? I have a Tech handsfree (shown in the attached image), and it can be used just for the phone conversation, NOT the music.
Hence, I would like to know whether I do something wrong, or I have to use a different device for hearing music.

Is there any audio lag/sync issues when watching videos? I'd read that this is a common issue with bluetooth receivers.
EDIT: To the OP, if you don't mind pricy canalphones, consider the ety8: http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=993

@ jcan: Your bluetooth handsfree needs to support "A2DP" profile as well as "headset" profile, then you will get both stereo audio and handsfree functionality. If it's only "headset", you won't get high quality stereo.
@ Aisorik: I haven't tested video with bluetooth, but as well as the possible lag/sync issue, you might find the TD2 "runs out of steam" trying to play video and, if you've tweaked the settings, high quality bluetooth at the same time.
@ mrbister: Thanks. Looks like I should have got the 205 instead!

Thx for the answer, Pete_S!

Hi,
I tried a video with my BT headphones and the sound came through nicely as usual (no connection drops or background noise) but it was a fraction of a second late so, yes, it's slightly out of sync...
I haven't looked into it much yet but I seem to remember reading about a way to fix this with an option in Core player...

Was the video a tricky one (near to the capabilities of the TD2), and have you also pushed up your bluetooth quality settings? Guess I ought to try it myself as I have Coreplayer too.

Yeah, my bluetooth settings have been tweaked (see previous page) but I don't think that's the cause... Like I said, I read somewhere that you can delay the video so it matches the sound but I still haven't looked for the settings myself... I rarely watch videos on my TD2 and never with my BT headset so it's not really an issue for me.

Yeah, my bluetooth settings have been tweaked (see previous page)

Sorry, I forgot to check back
The delay in the audio is probably down to a buffer used for A2DP streaming. I don't know whether the quality settings would make this any worse or not.
The reason for the question was only to find out whether the TD2 has the processing power to do high quality streaming whilst decoding a demanding video at the same time.
But, like you, I rarely watch videos on it, so it isn't much of an issue, just curiosity

Let's take photo of ur bluetooth headset. Which is recommended for Listening to FM + Answering Calls?

Try taking a look at the Sennheiser MM200 BT headset.

I don't think the bluetooth audio works for FM radio. That is what you meant, isn't it?
FM is probably connected internally after the A2DP encoding point, so can never be channelled through bluetooth.

It's a very small clip-on standalone MP3/FM tuner, 4GB, AND with integrated BT headset, and small display for caller id, song and radio info.
Music pauzes when there is a phonecall, it has a standard 3.5mm mini-jack.
The earphone has an extension cord (can leave it at home when running or sporting) and integrated mic, the player has a mic also for use with a standard walkman headphone.
Easy file management with windows explorer. (MP3/WMA)
Also used as a mass storage device tru standard windows explorer without annoying software in between.
it is possible to put your own ringtone on it for calling AND it supports ringtone streaming from your phone (if your phone supports that) dunno about touch hd tho . . . . can someone tell me if so?
it has the new Fullsound system by Philips.
Comes with a USB wallcharger, softbaggy, USB cable and its easy to firmware upgrade with philips device manager or download.(tried it)
Here are the specs: http://www.consumer.philips.com/con...02_NL_CONSUMER/Flash-Audio-speler+SA2446BT-02
(sorry can't find english info yet)
Resellers are limited to Dixons (NL)(local shops and online) and two-not-so-good-el-cheapo-internet-shops . . . . where i don't wanna order . . . .so i got it in my local dixons franchise over here.
Price in local shop is 99 euro, online 93euro, OR . . . . .101 euro!(pixmania, not too good supplier i heard . . . . .)
It rocks with my new Touch HD, sound is good, you get some decent headphones with it (not as great as my sennheiser in-ears but those cost as much as the whole thingy so its not bad)
BT pairing is a piece a cake and connecting when powered on is quick, startup is also very fast.
it is possible to swith thru your music folders and it works as with standard file management and not like say ipod with playlists and stuff.
You can put all sorts of files on it to take with you, like a usb stick with a cable.
that's the only minor i have yet discovered, it has (due to its small size?) not a standard mini-usb but a similar yet smaller input.
Display shows
mode (FM/MP3)
battery status
BT connection
USB connection
song-info
FM freq
and yes . . . .caller id.
it has shuffle function and Fullsound system on/off.
on the very nice mirror-shiny side it has some colored lights for BT, charging and so.
the lcd display is very, very small but i think that will help powersaving a lot.
I will try to install some BT audio drivers on my HD to see if i can send audio from my Touch HD to it so i can watch movies with wireless sound.
(worked with my sony bt headset)
Well i will add my findings as they come, but for now i am very happy with this great solution, it works much better than any other BT musicplayer i have had (and sold)
OK found english manual on philips site:http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa2446bt_02/sa2446bt_02_dfu_eng.pdf
Looking at getting one too...
Does it drain the battery of your HD with the A2DP on?
How's the battery life of the GoGear itself?

Hi,
Just wondering if you had any luck streaming music from your Touch HD.
Does it playback well and are you able to control the tracks from the GoGear directly ?
Thanks
Nice one. Looks even better than the Jabra 3030.
Does anyone know if there is a shop for Germany, too? Or where I can order it to Germany? Even on Ebay there is no reseller...

Right - are there any news?
Guys,
As we've not heard back from Dutchxxl, I called Phillips customer support to clarify the A2DP support.
To confirm, this device unfortunatly does not support streamed Bluetooth playback from a Mobile device. It's capacity as a Bluetooth device is only limited to handling phone calls and that's it.
So, if you want to play your music, it has to be from tracks stored locally on this device.
This makes it a deal breaker for me. Such a shame, as it has superior sound and the Caller Id function would have been good.
Could anyone help with seeking alternatives ? I guess most of us would seek the ideal scenario with :
- Built in Mic with handling of our own headphones
- BT Call handling
- BT Music Handling (A2DP)
- BT Music Control (AVRCP)
- Caller Id (Nice to have)
The devices we've mentioned so far are :
- Jabra 3030
- Motorola S605 (New replacement to S705, but no Caller Id)
- Motorola S705 (Caller Id, but not so great Music handling apparently)
Any others ?
I use the Motorola S705 and i find it work pretty good.

Any opinions about the Plantronics Voyager 855?
Except for the CallerID it seems to be nice...
From what I've googled, you'll be limited to only using their supplied ear mono ear bud.
Good for a corporate environment though.

[Q] Headphone jack stops working

Currently I'm having an issue with my Atrix where my headphone jack and usb line-out sound output stops working. The phone's internal speaker will play sound, but when I plug in headphones, or insert my phone into the Atrix car dock to play the sound from the USB port, no sound comes out of anywhere. When I reboot the phone, the sound output works again from either the headphone or car dock USB output.
I returned my first (unrooted, stock) Atrix for this very problem, and now it has started happening on my second (unrooted, stock) Atrix.
Is anyone else having this problem? I thought it was a hardware defect with the first Atrix, since I after some googling (and searching on xda) I didn't find anyone else posting about the issue, but since it has happened on my second Atrix, I'm starting to wonder if it's a software bug where perhaps some sound output service is crashing.
I looked at this similar thread for the fascinate as well, but I don't think I have any third-party TTS libraries installed--just the PICO TTS that Navigation uses. The only apps I have that output TTS are "Good Morning" and the stock google navigation app, which both use the stock PICO TTS, to my knowledge.

Sorry to resurrect, but I'm getting this problem on a stock UK Orange Atrix - clears with a reboot. I'm leaning towards software also..
Did you get a resolution to this issue?
Does all sound die? Or just Media sound?
For example, can you hear notifications when someone sends a message, but not hear music?
I was having this issue last week or something. It turned out to be setting Tasker to use notification stream as opposed to media stream was breaking media. However by having it use the media stream media worked find after w/e notification. Perhaps something similar is happening inside one of your apps?

I still have notifications when this occurs.
I'm still tracking the issue at the moment, but I believe it may relate to my car kit (Seat Ibiza 2010).
*Aside*
The car kit insists on cycling through headset then media when pairing, and then the stock music app starts. So to counter that I'm using Tasker to Grab and then Release the media buttons, which seems to resolve that issue. I have to do this otherwise Google Nav's instructions cannot be heard (the stock car stereo equipment doesn't support media streaming, they've simply used the same bluetooth chip for mine + the upgraded media capable one). Personally I'd rather kill the media pair altogether but that isn't an option, as deselecting media in the bluetooth settings is not remembered and the car forces the media pairing on next connect.
I also use the alarm stream for some Tasker speech work in the car
NB: the car and speech Tasker profiles are the same ones I used with the car with my previous phone (N1) without these issues. I guess the 'connected media player' on the Atrix is designed to be more intelligent (but less controllable) than the stock android player.
I've only noticed the headphones issue at work / after using the car, but I'm going overseas next week so will do some longterm testing then to rule out other factors.
I have tested with PowerAmp and 3 different sets of headphones so I believe it's some sort of software issue.
I have that problem but nothing like a reboot will fix it. The headset Jack on mine seems to be messed up because it only plays the words to the song for like 10 seconds then the words will go away and the beat is still there. This is with headphones or when connected to a car by AUX. Also when I use AUX my atrix calls random people (probably software). I called AT&T warranty to get it exchanged. They are sending me one in 4-6 days. Looks like I have to flash to stock soon to send this back... wohoo.

I'd try running a task in Tasker that uses Media Stream and see if that fixes it... if it does then it points to an app somewhere using notifications or some other sort if stream breaking media. I can't really offer any reason for why this happens only that I noticed it with tasker.

By Jove sir I think you've got it!
Added a Tasker Say (media stream) to an existing profile that runs when I plug in my headphones (reduces media volume to 1/2 on enter, full volume on exit).
Sorted (well, saves me the horrific task of looking through 70+ apps to find the troublemaker)
Thanks!

Tasker https://market.android.com/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&feature=search_result is an app that lets you perform actions or change settings based on events / states on the phone that you define.
So for what I'm doing for this problem:
Event - Wired headset plugged in
Action - 'Say' "Ready" using the media stream.
There are numerous other apps that do similar types of thing, however I can't comment on whether they will let you route sounds through the media stream (which seems to be the way to work round this issue).
I have an HTC Sensation with the same issue.
For what it's worth, the first time this happened, T-mobile's advanced tech didn't know what to do so they sent me a new one (still under warranty). However, less than ten days later (yesterday) it happened again. I called and the advanced tech person advised that I do a factory reset which apparently fixed the symptom but not the problem since I don't know what exactly is causing the problem. For my phone, it seems to be a software issue given that a reset fixed it.
Here are my symptoms:
(1) aux jack suddenly stops working ONLY with media (player continues to indicate that it is operating);
(2) speaker phone still works;
(3) handset still works; and,
(4) phone seems to work through jack
Is this similar to anyone else's issue?

Increase bluetooth A2DP quality (SBC -> MP3)

Hello XDA!
Hi have a Galaxy S2, I can found only a bad thing in it: bluetooth audio quality.
I have done some search and I'm sure that GS2 (like most other smartphones) uses SBC codec to send data over bluetooth.
The problem with SBC is that it reconvert your compressed files, such as MP3 or AAC, before sent them over bluetooth, so the final quality is terrible.
You can improve a little the quality increase the bitpool (use an highest bitrate for the conversion) but sound quality will never reach Directly MP3 transfer without conversion, for example connecting an usb stick to your stereo.
But there are a lot of discussion about ad2p sound quality on xda, so I think that you already know that.
I think that create mp3 codec to work with GS2 is hard and difficult, but I have found that Blueplayer for Windows mobile and Motorola with Droid X/ Droid 2 use A2DP Mp3 direct stream, in the specific motorola enabling the option "enhanced stereo" in bluetooth menu (absent in SGS2):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So my question is: is possible to make a port of blueplayer or motorola bluetooth stack for Samsung Galaxy S2? I think this is the only way to improve bad bluetooth audio quality on GS2.
Acutally it should be as easy as editing a config file.. (/system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf) like this:
Code:
[A2DP]
SBCSources=0
MPEG12Sources=1

With my Plantronic Voyager Pro Plus ( Pro+ ), bluetooth audio quality is quite good ( although only 1 ear ). When change to connect Pro+ with Moto Atrix 4G, I got bad experience.
But with wired good brand/quality 3.5" headphone, Atrix do better in quality

Jack audio on galaxy s2 is really bad in my experience, and usb output is only available in mass storage mode... Not really useful. So I'm trying to get better audio quality from bluetooth...there is also car dock from Samsung with 3.5" output, but I think that the final quality is like direct 3.5" output.. Very bad things from Samsung.
yea i don' get the audio complaints. i'm happy with the sound on my sgs2. used various BT earphones (sony, motorolla, nokia and plantronics and all good)
GS2 audio quality via bluetooth is way too far differrent compared to Xperia X8. X8 audio quality via bluetooth is good, while GS2 is not. :-(
I'm OK with the quality of the Voyager pro+, but in car I need to increase the vol., there's anyway to increase the conversation volume of the BT headphones?
Sended from my SGS2
This is a well know problem for SGSII (and probably other Gingerbread-based phones).

You can simply use DSP manager or Volume+ apps to increase BT volume...google it

Is teorically possible to change Samsung AOSP to Google AOSP? maybe with the upcoming Nexus Prime?
This helped me a problem with A2DP stereo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293239&highlight=music+ice.
I use Omega rom 2.0 (best rom). I believe it will help you.
I had lousy bluetooth a2dp quality on stereo jabra 3030. The only thing that fixed it was switching to CyanogenMod, since it uses AOSP bluetooth stack instead of Samsungs.
I even can't paired with SGS2. The stereo BT still can used with my Omnia2. Weir.

Routing Music etc. through Bluetooth ?

Hi all
I have a Bluetooth Car Kit but it seems that bluetooth only works with phonecalls. I use a Internet Radio app and would like to route the audio through the car kit rather than having my SGS2 on the dashboard, listening via the onboard speaker.

Actually this is something I'd like to do as well. My car bluetooth shows as "Phone Audio" in BT settings if I could amend this Profile so it plays any music through the car this would be great!
On the standard player if you press the menu button you get a "Via Bluetooth" option fo this.

If I'm on a call and I play a MP3/or a text message comes through it plays over bluetooth audio.
I have the Motorola T505 car kit and route music (or phone calls) from my SGS2 to car's stereo speakers. Use pretty much every day to and from work; listen to Pandora or stored songs via Neutron player. Is this what you are ultimately trying to do?
My device has a push-button that syncs the device to a chosen FM channel; I then tune to this channel. The trick is finding one that offers lower static. Did not perform any other on-phone settings but can look tomorrow morning if helpful.
Sound quality could be better (much, much), but it's great to be able to hear my own selections.
Hope this helps.
I am particularly trying to use TuneIn (tunein.com) which streams radio stations over the net but there are a growing number of radio stations supplying Android and iPhone apps

Hey, that's a cool looking app (just looked up); will be downloading.
Hmmm, I have not come across any BT audio device that does not support both voice and audio, and I have several. Does your car kit doc state that it supports both (and maybe FM pass-through)?
Regardless of FM pass-through, have you tried completely removing the paring and then repairing? Reason I ask is because I just flashed a new ROM and kernel to my phone, and when I paired the Sony HBH-IS800 earphone (my gym rig), it showed the paired-connected symbol but when I started music, it played though the phone speakers only. When I checked the profile, it read "Connected to phone." I then deleted the paring, rebooted for safe measure, and repaired. This time, the profile read "Connected to phone and media audio". Was the first time ever seeing this with a BT pairing.
Something to try at any rate....

As I was saying..... I've only seen one bluetooth kit that's phone only; the poster's screen shot above... Sorry sir, had never heard of Blueconnect (is it nice?).
I actually skipped over your post as was more responding to the OP, for which I am still uncertain which car kit is being used.
When shopping for a car kit, I keyed on the ones that advertised being FM transmit capable.
TuneIn claim to support Bluetooth but there are a few posting on the web from other TuneIn users with this same issue. TuneIn suggested I speak to by BT device manufacturer - a device for which I have feck all details. It works fine for phonecalls and worked fine with music on a previous WinMo phone. I think WinMo had options to allow BT to be used for more than just phonecalls. There are very few (none !) options within the Bluetooth menu. Thought I might have been able to Long Press on a paired device to get into further options but

If the OT screen shots the same setting I guess it will say the same.
Nah its **** but its a company car and I had no choice.
Though if I can get it to play music through it I will be a happy chap

Sound Effects (EQ, Clear Audio) only works with Walkman in 136?!

So upgraded to .136 and now the Sound Effects wont do anything under settings.
It only works when access via Walkman and only for walkman.
I was able to use it for any app before in 290 and from the Settings menu.
Anyone else having the same issue? :/
Yes I'm experiencing same here... I wasn't aware that it worked with walkman. I hope this wasn't done intentionally, as our phone wasn't very loud to begin with!
I also noticed that if I receive a call or check my voicemail while Sirius XM is active in the background, once the call is ended the eq is one again enabled. This leaves hope for a correction update.
It is even worst now! I just noticed that even with Walkman it will work with MP3s but no longer with FLAC files.
I am about to research how to go back to .290 :/
weird it works for me with power amp and other players. I can change the sound enhancement setting and listen to change in the effects
error.....

Did you upgrade from 290 without resetting the previous data?
Does it apply to flac files and are you using the one from the NUT thread?

i upgraded from 290 and flashed the new german tft then rooted using jackie099 way, first think I test, is the sony sound enhancements, and I test always sound effects first thing as I am very critical to test sound effects and works on every player from power amp to jet player , then I installed viber and it works on the whole system too, for every player.
so no complains in the sound section for me, also bluetooth streaming works great no complains.
yes works on flac, and all other formats
darn it I suck quoting lol

Glad to know is not a 136 issue even though I am not the only one. I will have to try again. Do you have a 6802?

yep 6802
I have the same issue with Spotify. Though I'm not sure it worked before either because I never got around to testing it. Recently bought the phone and already gone through 4 updates.

I guess all I need to do with NUT's steps is to format system, data partition maybe even internal SD then just Step 5 and 6 from his guide?
Files:
For C6833: Download C6833_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 826MB) and C6833_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
Save them somewhere you remember;
Put 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
#5 Flash 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip' in TWRP;
NOTE: do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
#6 Flash everything in 'C68XX_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf' using flashtool;
Reboot to system.

I've been seperated from my Ultra since thursday last week now, so i have no idea what's going on around these parts anymore Heck, i haven't even touched the new 136(?) update. I'm a good damn rookie again, so my answer to your post is:

ahahahah sorry about that, hope you get it soon...I can almost picture you waiting for it...
I just deleted Data partition, Format system, dalvik etc (not format internal), flashed again and while the MusicFx seems to work more consistently now from the Settings menu not just from Walkman settings, it still does not apply to any other app and it still does not affect FLAC files, only my MP3s. This is getting me pissed off...may just end up converting all FLAC to mp3 if I cant find a fix and call it a day.
I will wait for the 6802 version..maybe that will do it.
I think the phone sounds best flat without any EQ settings applied or ClearAudio+ etc.
Specially since I bought a small headphone amplifier today and connected between the phone and headphones. When pumping up the sound high enough with it (and trust me it gets high, way higher than without), the EQ settings does not make any difference to the sound anymore what so ever. Only on lower volumes. Good cheap investment I made.

I guess it all depends on what kind of music you listen to though and what you prefer in the sound.

Too many factors come into play. Headphones, type of music. amp, EARS and preferences. So that is why I no longer ask for headphones recommendations and the likes after going through a big testing phase
After getting into new headphones and amp, now I am getting curious about external dacs...it never ends! lol

My sound settings work perfectly fine using Power Amp on .136
UPDATE!
I got sound enhancement working with 136 for FLAC and any other app. As I recalled I had other issues before when running non 6802 ROMS on my phone, I was still holding on to some hope that a 6802 based 136 ROM would be the one that will work...and IT DID!
I just flashed the 136 from the NUT thread and it is all working great.
PS After finishing TIBU and all updates, I lost again the FLAC and other apps using Sound Enhancements. I tested it before right after flashing to make sure it was working but no idea how something I restored could affect this since I never restore system apps and besides, I restored even less apps this time that I did on 290 so I guess we are back to blaming a glitchy 136. In any case, I am going to just use MP3 VBR at highest rate since in reality, you cant tell the difference with a phone and external amp...
I am almost tempted to flash again just to determine if it was something I restored or what made it not work again.
PS 2. Flashed again and tested flac again and it works. Hopefully I will find out what exactly is making it stop when I restored apps.
