FASTEST most STABLE ROM? - What is it? - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hello everyone,
before I bought my TouchDual, I had a usual HTC Touch. Well, at first the device was horrible slow. Then later on some one released a light ROM which works great till this day (my brother owns the Touch now).
Well, I got the TouchDual, but can't find a slim, fast, stable ROM. Its horrible.
I don't need a overloaded Divice. Just a slim one with all updated drivers and fixed bugs.
Is there anything out there which even comes close? My current ROM is driving me crazy! I prefer an older build it just has to be fast and stable.
PS: Couldn't someone stick a Thread like that? I'm sure plenty people are searching for such an ROM. (Yes I used the search-function)

The reason why there isn't such a sticky is if you ask 10 people this question, you'll get 8 different replies. There aren't many ROMs for the Nike anyway, so why not try all of it? I did..

It also depends on if you want WM6.1 or WM6.5.
There's not many 6.5 ROMs but NemanjaLO was doing the only Lite ones - as to whether they're completely stable seeing as WM6.5 is still undergoing development well, that's for you to judge.
But, as Lukesky says, it's all down to personal opinion and preference so do a few searches and try some out - you get usually get a good feel for the ROM by people's comments in the thread.

try this one... I've been using the manilla edition of it, and was stable and for a manilla rom packed full with all kind of apps it was fast. I think it will satisfy your needs.
If not, wait untill tWolf sees this thread. He must have flashed every single "basic", "clean" or "lite" version of the roms on this board to his niki and will surely be able to tell you which one was the best

Well I don't need 6.5. I just want an ROM on which I can run Tom Tom smothly, browse for Files and don't get interrupted writing SMS. My current ROM has some very annoying settings.
Such when you use T9 and want to add a custom word, it doesn't automatically switch to ABC-Mode... which is absolutely stupid.
The "Clean Black" Rom doesn't seem too clean with all that stuff on it. Especially the skin...
Where are you Mr. tWolf & NemanjaLO?
PS.: Even though it's right that every ROM has to kinda fit personal need, it is impossible (for people who need their phone everyday) to just try a whole bunch. It's just like buying a car. I need advice for a compact, small, efficient one.
Thanks so far.

If you don't even want the skin, then it's best you cook for yourself, else the lightest nike rom I know has to be this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435153&highlight=lite

Can you even use that one with an Nike?

No official WM6 ROM released for Prophet. The last official ROM is WM5 from Qtek.
As for the best, it depends on your definition. More software packaged? Faster in response? or shorter booting time? How about long term stress test with less memory leak?
It also depends on to what extent you are willing to reconfigure it. No on-size-fits-all.
To me, stability and speed go above all other features. Less software packed mean less possibility to go wrong. Korand's new ROM offers these. I got around 30 software already installed on my SD card, with only one patch of CAB to make up registry and shortcut, all of them runs well.
When something went wrong, it's easier to debug, simply hard reset to original ROM state. (Not if your ROM has already got a lot of software and tweak.)
I like Korand's philosophy to build a clean ROM as platform to others. If anything not so perfect, that would be no Power Point mobile, mms, windows live messenger, and java, make it less official look.
However, Power Point is rather impractical mess in a small screen, the same to mms, WLM, without 3G.
It's really up to personal requirement to decide which one is the best. To me, besides speed and stability, the one puts most fundamental, unchanging stuff inside the ROM, and leaves out constantly upgrading stuff outside, is the best for me, partly because i can do the addon myself.
Here i would also like to take the liberty to implore the authors of cooked ROM, or forum moderators, since many guys ask which ROM is the best for them, why not do a more organized form, list to put on the top of forum.
A clean ROM, the common platform to those variants, can be pick out as a lead, like a pedigree, so people can be easier on tracing problem.
On the other hand, as a user, a beggar can't be a chooser, no author got paid here, so, try and choose one best fit your need...Good luck...

It's unlikely you'll get an answer to that without telling for what country/network... That is unless you don't use it as a phone
I'm looking for a ROM that is fast in performance and also ROMs that are good on battery life.
Any suggestions?
Currently, I'm using NATF's 2.3 ROM, so this one is pretty early. I don't like to flash ROMs too often, because I have to get in there and load in the files that my phone previously had and I find that to be a pain...right now,
id also like to know your guys's opinions too. i posted this same kind of thread last week and it got shut down by one of the mods... its ok though.
like im having a hard time finding one i want, that has good features+quality+speed and whatnot..
you guys know what i mean?
You can flash a rom pretty fast. I have test most of the roms but what i want and like in a rom may be different then what you want and like. Try all of them and see what you like.
Man you are gonna get so many different answers. It's really up to your preference. Try a few and see what suits you, use PIM Backup or Spb Backup so you don't lose anything. I flash ROMs later at night when I usually don't get much coming into my phone during the few minutes of down time.
The reason we are quick to close "whats the best xxxx" threads is because it usually depends on an individuals opinion on the "best xxxx".
As with most threads of this nature it usually ends up in a poorly backed up argument over a few users who wont back down from the argument.
I'll leave this open for now but should this thread fall into that situation its gonna be locked.

can we have a post just a pool which is your favorite ROM, without any comment or reply?
I've tried almost all the ROM here, and still very intrigued on knowing which ROM is the most used. Also it would help other to give other ROM a chance.
The correct answer is : there is no best ROM.
Or if there is, no one has ever seen it yet. (And it is a build of WinMo7)
Each rom is customized to however the chef desires. That could match your desires exactly, it could not. This, combined with the individual skill and dedication of the amazing chefs to work out bugs, maximize tweaks and release updates, is what makes up if a rom is good or not.
It is your own self who defines good, however.
In terms of battery life:
You will find it will vary a little from rom to rom, naked and manila-free roms usually outperforming the rest. However, if you are truly looking for performance differences, try out a few different radios. Those have an actual large bearing on signal stregnth and battery life.
What roms have I used:
Quick history
Stock ATT Fuze rom + Reg tweaks + manila tweaks - (1-2 days)
ROMeOS (1-2 weeks)
Elite RC2 (1 month)
RRE (2-3 weeks)
ROMeOS (1-2 days)
I dont give version numbers since I choose a rom track and stick with it through the updates. Meaning I flashed all the updated versions to ROMeOS until switchted to RC2, then I did the same thing with RRE. Made it kind of difficult when it was jumping 4.x seemingly daily
Either way, they all performed great, just better in certain areas. Currently I am very happy with the current ROMeOS rom. However, I am eyeballing RC3 and actually considering testing out a few things on the stock att rom once again.
My input!
Well, I’ll take a stab at this. Sounds like you’re in the boat I was in just a few weeks ago, so I’ll try and give as unbiased opinion about the ROM I choose as possible. Because let’s be honest here, there is NO BEST ROM. From what I can tell, all the ROMs in XDA are well though out, and clearly have a lot of hard work invested in them, typically by freelance developers. So they definitely deserve a “Tip of the Hat” as far as all their hard work is concerned.
I actually started out knowing little to nothing about ROM flashing. So naturally I started at Flashing your First GSM Raphael Rom thanks mskip! I was fortunate enough to have had a friend that flashed his Tilt and explained to me the joys of flashing a non-stock ROM to clear up all the bloat ware that’s normally shipped with them. I had a lot of time between when I had ordered my Fuze and receiving it, so that gave me an edge in researching what I though was going to be the best ROM for me ( operative word here, ME ). Because as mrvanx pointed it, the “best” ROM is purely subjective based on the user.
I looked at pretty much all the most heavily posted on/used forums. Read what people had to say about the ROM, the problems they were experiencing, the pro/cons and overall just tried to get the best gist of what people thought about the ROM’s performance.
I looked at Lantis, NATF V4, PROven, Elite RC2 ( also RC3 ), ROMeOS^2, Da_G Clean, DCS-TouchPro-v15, TouchXperience (not yet released) and finally T.i.R. v10 R + P.D.M. 4.1. There’s many others that I’ve not mentioned, not because their any less worthy but because I just didn’t run across them in my search.
Let me say this off the bat. ALL of the above listed were in my opinion amazing looking ROMs. There were things I liked about all of them, and also things that concerned me as far as some of the problems that people were experiencing with them. That said, I realize ( as should everyone ) there will always be problems with the ROM you choose. Even the stock ROM that AT&T subjects you too is going to have problems.
What was I looking for in a ROM? User ability, overall speed and response of TF3D, the programs installed/removed from stock and the look and feel of the TF interface. I was also looking for which ROM I felt had still retained all the functions of the stock ROM with out the added useless software. PPT for instance, I didn’t need, so why would I want a ROM that has it installed, using vital memory when I’m never going to use it?
In the end, I chose T.i.R. v10? Why? The reason may surprise you, because it was blue. Yeah, I know, it’s a dumb reason, but hey, that’s my reason; well at least it’s what initially attracted me. But additionally, it encompassed what the other ROMs had as far as TF3D was concerned, used a minimum amount of memory ( not the best utilization mind you, look to Da_G Clean build for that ). Still retained functions like the FM radio, Quick GSP, Opera 9.5, easy task manager, youtube, ZIP, Labyrinth ( what? The game is addicting! ), G-Sensor Calib, enhanced Camera functions and etcetera. But overall, what I liked the most was the look and feel of TF3D in blue and the new icons.
It really was a toss up between T.i.R., Lantis and PROven. They all had features I liked, but like I said, T.i.R. was a little more unique in it’s graphics. Is T.i.R. the best? No, like I said, what’s best for one, is not going to be best for another. But I like it, and I’m resilient to flash something else at the moment because nothings broke yet, so no need to fix it! Overall, the T.i.R. team did a great job with the visuals and keeping TF3D fast. Clearly faster then the stock ROM, and far cleaner as far as third apps are concerned. It did not have a slid to answer feature, but I found a separate CAB file for that.
Overall, they’re all going to have their strong points and weak points and it’s all a matter of what you find most appealing and how you use your phone on a daily basis. Something’s you may find essential may be features like slide to answer and the in call guard screen. And obviously the keyboard fix if you’re a Fuze user.
I hope that give you, and others, a little insight about what to look for and how to choose. Research, flash and try it. If it doesn’t fit flash something else. Hopefully others join in with what they’ve experienced in flashing. What they like and dislike. (^_^) Bare in mind, the more feed back we leave, the better.
yup, Plazma pretty much covered all the bases!
1 thing that wasn't mentioned is that some ROMS contain some programs that others don't. But people here are more than welcome to supply you with a .cab that will take care of that for you.
Hands Down SSK 1.5 his rom runs smoother and is more stable than any other rom i have flashed including Juicy 4.13, MightyRom4.13, Juggalo's Newest and many more. I know this is just my personal favorite you should try it!!!

Quite surprisingly I couldnt find a thread like this, though it is a very interesting one for newbies... I tested Proven Manila HD and Panosha Pro 1.0. I must admit that of the two Proven is better and overall reeeeally nice. Both in terms of graphics/icons and speed and addon apps. I wonder if there is any other ROM worth testing. I repeat: my criteria is:
a) speed
b) stability
c) nice and usefull apps but not too many
d) nice looking and working TF3D (can be HD or TP2).
Any ROM with known issues or bugs that cant be overcome and are important are not fit for me...
Any ROM candidates for testing then to challenge Proven?

Another vote for Energy 2.0 - this rom rocks - very fast and stable despite the new TF3d still not being totally ported.
I've been using Energy since I got my Fuze, the latest I have is 1.5, no tf3d, and my memory usage at boot is 150mb free. That is just amazing. I have been into pointui2, it seems to slow after awhile, and has some bugs, but is much prettier and more useful than tf3d. Once the community over at pointui.com gets into it, it may be the best homescreen plugin. On my tilt I used Gsmart touch, and loved it. I need to try a few others, but am a tweak hog and the least memory used normally wins for me.

Brand New Fuze User (former Hermes) - Any Tips on which ROM to flash?

I know, I know....
but i am not a flash junkie and don't want my first experience with the TP to be flashing 10 roms. I'm just looking to get a decent one (preferably not a black theme ) and run with it to get to know touchflo and the device. Thanks!
There's a good Wiki associated with this device. Get to know the chefs then start reading their threads. Took me about an evening to find what I was looking for.
Just my opinion but, NATF's all the way! And the FuzeBerry of course....
Hi there
Ive coome over from the hermes camp too (although its still running)
i would personally reccomend the lantis os roms but again, and you'll see this all over xda, you will only find the best rom for you after flashing a few
and theres only really a handful to try!
good luck and make sure you've hardspl'd and have your stock rom and radio versions written down or backed up just in case you have to do a warranty return! saves u the hassle of trying to hunt it down in the panic!

You should try them all, so you can see what the difference between a good and bad rom is. Each rom is built different for different so not all roms may suit your needs..... but i agree on Lantis OS being my favorite right now.
I personally tried Romeo, NATF and Proven and decided to stick with Proven.
I had problems with the screen shutting off during calls with Romeo.
I experienced TF3D lag with NATF.
Proven has been rock solid and I like the Diamond tweaks he's incorporated.
if you don't like TF3D go with Da_G.. I'm actually running a VGA version of HTC Home on mine.. love the speed.
Thread like these usually get closed pretty fast, I'm suprised that yours last a day
It's really all depend on what you like, they are all great. For the past few days, I've tried many of them. And to be honest, there is no BEST one. It's really depend on what you need and what you like.
Da_G is has the cleanest ROM NaTF's
Elite RC2 Is fully loaded with a new feeling
NATF Is stable, and GPS lock is pretty quick (update very often)
Proven, it's like Elite with less Applications and function (cleaner)
Romeo is very stable
.... Those are what i've tried
Check the Wikki in sticky post.
I think it is a good question that should come up from time to time.. sure everyone has their personal preferences but for a new person wanting a quick rundown on the most current ROMS to date.. just saving the guy some time downloading and flashing all those different ROMS. anyone here flashed all released ROMS to date?
I also went from the Hermes (8525) about a week and a half ago. Fuze was my christmas present .
I tried NATF's ROM for about a week and had many problems, which i seemed to ignore because of all its good feedback. I then tried Lantis OS and had no problems at all, I am still currently using it. No errors and speedy fast.
My suggestion is Lantis OS for the moment, but NATF is suppose to be releasing his v4.0 ROM sometime today or tomorrow so you should look out for that as well.
Good luck with your fuze and your flashing, and enjoy that beautiful VGA screen that i loved when i got it compared to the Hermes
I don't think that XDA-developers ever had any problems with folks discussing ROMs and their xp with the various flavors in a rational manner. We usually end up shutting down threads because the first reply is "Use search you id10t!" followed by general thread degeneration.
Anyhoo.. normally I'm one of the chefs, but with this device I've found that Da_G's direction mirrors the way I'd be going anyway. He's more interested in technical improvements to the GDI, GPS etc than in all the additional apps. I'm pretty confident that he's well on his way to creating a solid base ROM that's free for anyone to work from. Exactly what I would have done. Why re-invent the wheel?
This is what these kinds of threads are supposed to be like! As stated by a couple people previously, normally these get dismissed and/or flamed. When people ask these types of questions, usually they are not asking (at least the smart ones aren't) which ROM the SHOULD flash, but rather what is your experiances with the ones you have used.
I understand how confusing it may be trying to decide which one to use - they all look the same as far as applications that are cooked in. Only difference aesthetically are the different themes and that alone is not a deciding factor for me.
Just as everyone has stated - just try some out and see how they feel to you. ie button mapping, folder layout, apps installed, speed, etc. I personally like Aruppenthal's RRE ROM but that's just my 2 cents.
FYI: From what I've seen, EVERY ROM has its own bugs/quirks that may or may not annoy you.

The one I'm using is a cab called htchome2.cab that I found in the diamond forum...works fine but the media player tab does not work.
And I have been using either Lantis or DaG Rom's....I use Blackberry Connect which adds lag to the fuze anyway but it seems to affect these Roms the least. I would be interested in hearing what Rom's Blackberry Connect users are fond of as it seems to make a big difference.
i too just got my Fuze from Kaiser. right now im using RomEOS and really like it. i might try the Da_G because i really dont care about TF3D.

Best rom for Practical phone use?

What do you guys think is the best ROM for using the touch pro as it is intended to be first and foremost: a phone.
I'm looking for a rom with no hangups when you want to make a phone call, check a text message or send an email. I find that sometimes my phone hangs (quite badly actually) when I try to use the actual phone bit of my fuze. (IE: Tonight I got pulled over for having an unregistered tag, left the reg at home, tried to call my aunt to bring it to me to avoid having my car impounded and low and behold my phone call screen decides to hang for a good 2 minutes... Lucky the cop felt bad for my seemingly ****ty device and I got off with a warning... :\ )
Also, I find it a pain in the arse sometimes to check, reply to my texts on the go. More often than not the screen hangs for a few seconds between the different screens. I find this so much of an annoyance that I've almost stopped texting all together.
I'm using the RRE 6.5 rom at the moment but this is literally draining the life out of me. any suggestions?
Sounds like you treat your phone as I do ... mission critical device.
RRE's series ROM are great ROMs; a lot of attention goes into ensuring they run as hassle free as possible. That said, Windows Mobile 6.5 is still relatively new and there are some kinks that still need to be worked out.
You may want to look at using a feature lite Mobile 6.1 ROM for the time being. A good indicator of stability is when you see the frequency of kitchen/ROM releases slow down.
HTH,
Thanks for the reply, I'm beginning to think that its a 6.5 issue, but even more so a windows mobile issue... Which is a shame because i've always been a fan of the pc-on-the-go experience of wm as opposed to some proprietary OS by some nameless company for a very specific phone that supports nothing.
Maybe i'm just ranting
It depends on what you want in your ROM.
RRE v3 WM6.5 has been running great for me. There's been a v4 and v5, but I'm sticking with v3 for now since it has run great for me.
WM6.5 isn't for everyone though.
If you don't need TF3D (or don't mind installing it via cab), then look in the March 1st Leaked ATT ROM thread and look for the Da_G stripped version. This is plain WM6.1 with NO HTC stuff. Its as bare as you can get, but fast as hell and very stable. You can find cabs for the HTC stuff if you decide to use it.
+ 1 for NRG minus manila. once you take the manila out, the battery life is excellent....granted, i'm on 2.0 now but was pretty good when i ran 3 as well (switched back for 6.1)....
it's now 5 PM and been off charger since 7:30 AM and with a few phone calls and email twice/multiple texts, i've still got 75% left!!
agree with other member, if you want reliable rom, stick with 6.1. 6.5 has a lot of hiccups. But to each its own. My phone has failed me when I need the most but hey how many times does that happen.
install the new touch pro 6.1 official rom 5.11.xx.xx.xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
i made my rom with just that in mind, making the touch pro a good phone first, and a good ppc second. it runs on 6.1 so no hiccups and i tested it extensively.
arrupenthal makes some good stable roms too :}

He did the right thing. He started a new thread instead of clogging other threads with these questions. No one has to enter this. I've been monitoring this because I'm curious to see what people plug here. It's hard to find practical roms unless you read all 150 pages in each good rom's thread because everyone claims: "fast", "great", "best", "stable"... when they really aren't there yet. It's just that some roms aren't fully troubleshot yet. Some people here want to get their money's worth out of a phone they paid a lot of money for and don't want to devote the better part of a day (at the very least) to find something they'll only find a deal killing bug one month later after spending hours putting programs back on their phone after flashing (even after UC).
Sorry for opinion almost unrelated, but I don't post without some kind of contribution of my own:
I currently have been running RRE v3 and its a great rom, but it has some camera bugs with the auto rotate and wm6.5 has messaging uglies. It is by far my favorite performing rom, but the camera bugs. My phone, to me, has to be a phone, gps, camera and music player. I plan to go back to RRE the latest with the 6.1 rom no manila and put on chome. I'll let you know how it works out.
I hope this thread can be a place in which people can come to take a look at great performing roms and dl packages of optimizing software with little time spent reading through bugs and potential bug fixes. This in mind, I'll be on again tonight after hopefully fully testing what I hope to be my rom for about 6 months only reporting great or bad or good (with Quick fixes only).
Thanks to all the chefs for their time.

He did the right thing. He started a new thread instead of clogging other threads with these questions.

I disagree, all the information he wanted was easily accessible. There's no excuse for not taking some initiative instead of opening up yet another "Hey guyz! What's the best ROM out there for my <insert device name here>" thread.
<rant mode=off> ;-)
I agree…asking a question that is answered 100+ times already is not what this site is about. This site is about the developers and people like my self who are members because we like what he developers do should read more and post less.
Remember this:
I this site becomes about he non-developers it will be ruined!

With a win 6.1 and no manila, how looks your today screen? Do you have some kind of screenshot to show?
Thanks
(I'm using an energy 3 rom with win 6.5, and I like the titanium interface, I wonder what I'll use if I go back to 6.1)
I could say that I'm closing this thread out of spite (nobody plugs my ROM? )... but it's not the case. This type of thread is not permitted according to the rules of XDA-Developers.
Although it can seem like a daunting task, the best thing for the OP to do is read through a few ROM threads, the first few posts should suffice, for a list of features and a changelog. [Shameless Plug]. Lastly, check the date of the most recent release, and then jump to the posts from that date, going forward.

I am confused, ... too many options

Hey everybody,
I am sitting here now for hours and trying to figure out what I need, and what I wont ever use, ...
I got myself a touch pro and now I am trying to find a rom that fits me, or at least to figure out if i do even need a rom.
What I need is a stable phone that works fine with GPS and also stable enough (and with enought battarycapacity) to use the GPS for example 10hours in one turn (don't know even if this is possible from the beginning ).
first of all:
Whats the advantage of WM6.5?
Is a cooked 6.5 Rom possibly as stable as a stock rom from HTC?
Till now I am used to SPB Mobile Shell and I would buy the new version of it, ... is Sense really a good supstitude, and as fast as mobile shell?
Some ROMs come with lots of preinstalled software where I might only need half of it, is it possible to uninstall some of it?
I read somewhere something about QuickGPS, ... is it common and usefull in cooked ROMs?
Are Hotfixes from HTC usually included?
... slowly I get more and more questions in my head, ...
Last but not least:
Is it recommendable to use a cooked ROM if I dont't want to flash my phone for the comming year, and just using a stable and fast phone?
Which ROM would be recommendable if I use it mainly for surfing some pages and GPS and playing a bit around?
Thanks in advance for helping to unscramble my brain ^^
Ps.: Has anybody an experience with Touch Pro and German Vodafone, with different Radios? (As you see I like to stay up to date, but I am too lazy to follow it ...)
In a friendly way I suggest you do some serious reading which is really a FRIENDLY hint. Read the Wiki and Radio threads to learn more about your phone (hardSPL) and some ROM threads. Do n o t assume that all custom ROMs support all languages (my guess is that your local language is German) so - again - you have to look around a little bit.
Custom or cooked ROMs do include a lot of little tools and features (some Chefs put more in some less). Regarding stability, read a little bit through ROM threads currently there are not many unstable ROMs out.
Keep in mind that, pending what base ROM version you chose (called SYS followed by a number 21xxx for example) that it may be a beta OS from microsoft which need not to be "per se" a bad thing.
The biggest suggestion - still - read Read READ to UNDERSTAND what's going on.
A Titanium ROM would be MY choice if you want to continue with SPB Mobile shell (which is good BTW) so no need to have the Manila 2.1 or 2.5 included with the ROM.
Well we were all kind of clueless about this at one point..so I won't flame you for posting this, but please please go and read through the stickies in this forum, and then through a whole bunch of ROM threads before doing anything to your phone. Don't be one of the many retards who post on here asking questions that have been asked a million times.
Couple of things to get you started.
1) use the SEARCH function. It will really help you, just type in your question and you will get an answers..
2) Read these threads:
how to flash your phone:

Wiki Links
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419746
General Help

3) Once you know what flashing is, what HardSPL is, what a radio is, what a riphone.dll is, and what a rom is, start with a nice simple Windows Mobile 6.1 rom and flash that. Browse this forum and find a [ROM] thread that states its Windows Mobile 6.1, download it, and flash it. I would never advise a newbie to flash WM 6.5..yes it works great et al but if you are new to this you will likely run into issues and end up coming back here.
4) Once you are happy with the basics of flashing, and you have played with your new 6.1 rom, go and take a look at some of the newer all singing all dancing roms based on WM 6.5, which is the latest version of windows mobile available. Again here start with the basics, so one that includes "manilla 2.1", which is currently stable and pretty much finished. This will give you some nice upgrades to your phone which you will not have seen before. Make sure to start with a version that has build "28xxxx" as its number also, as again this is the most stable.
5) Once you are used to that you may want to jump to the 21xxxx series (less stable but much nicer to use imo - this is the "development" series of WM 6.5, which is *not* final or released), and see how you get on with that.
6) If you are feeling adventerous go for a Manilla 2.5 version after this, but ONLY IF YOU HAVE READ ALL ABOUT IT FIRST. 2.5 is full of bugs/issues at the moment, 99% of which are known and have been posted about already.
The key thing here is to READ READ READ and DO NOT sit here posting questions - I guarantee that 99.999% of your questions have been answered already. If you stick to those rough guidelines you will have a good time flashing and will be respected here..happy flashing!
edit: one more thing, I will answer one more question. If you want the most stable and reliable ROM on your phone..do one of two things. Either research lots and play with every single rom you can find until you find the one that works best for YOUR network and area, OR just stick with a stock HTC rom..there is no "middle ground" here..its very simple
Sorry for having my questions out a bit quick
And thanks a lot for the info you gave still!
Just wanted to say that I did read quite a bit (and actually I stopped when I got a headache) so I am familiar with flashing Hardspl and so on, ...
One of my main question (if Manila is a substitude for Mobileshell) is answerd by tyguy, so thanks a lot for that!
Anyway you all do a great job here!! Thanks a lot!
For a German user on Vodafone see my friends and contact Schnitzelbrain he is German and Raphael user ( and maybe Vodafone ) very helpful surely he can help you chose.
I reccomend Chrome ROMs though.
WM 6.5 is more finger friendly than 6.1. If you're new stay away from the SENSE(next generation Manila) as it wasn't designed for your Touch Pro and it takes some tinkering around with. The better handling 6.5 builds are the 21XXX builds as they are "official" builds. Look for 21882. The 28xxx are experimental builds but function fairly well.
Each developer has their own style, so it may take you a couple tries to figure out who matches your style.
one warning about manila 2.5 (sense) is that it's been stated that sometimes the animations will be slower. This is because sense was made with a 1ghz processor in mind, so make sure you keep that in mind as well.
I'm currently using NRG Rom Phoenix 2 and (manila 2.1) it rocks.
SirHanni, just try some of the popular 6.5 roms such as the energy roms...
You need to experience each rom to know it you like everything about it.
For instance I like my current rom because the weather updates to my location.
I also hate the roms with the start button at the bottom.
