EnergyROM "Business" Edition - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

I'm thinking of another ROM line, to be good enough to use for business (so it has to be very stable) and with toned down, professional graphics. This will very much be a "clean" ROM, with no extra BS apps or addons. Can I hear some suggestions please ?

Looking forward to it..

As you already know, I'm not a huge fan of the HTC apps/enhancements, so I would leave those out with the option of installing via cab, or have them in the ROM with a working toggle to turn them off.
I would say do as many of the "under the hood" tweaks you can do without sacrificing stability.
As for graphics, I already like your taskbar in your WM6.5 series, and I think that could stay. I'm not sure what changes you would have in mind for graphics, but I think the graphics you have now are pretty clean.
Are you thinking of a WM6.5 ROM or a WM6.1 ROM? I didn't see that mentioned, so I thought I would ask since you've done both in the past.

i think you should go with stock graphics people customize if they choose. my ideal business rom would be like juicy's cdma one

"It's business, It's business time!" - Flight of the Conchords
I think this is a GREAT idea. Would this be 6.1 or 6.5? 6.5 is very close to being capable of generating a "stable" ROM.
Even though this is business oriented, I think anyone would much appreciate the style (icons, themes, graphics) that you put into your ROMs. Same would hold true for most of the enhancements. Maybe trim down some of the fluff.

simple is the Best
go for it am sure will be a good Rom.
Good Luck

WOW, another one. jeez, you gonna be busy LOL. I get frustrated sometimes with just the one version. More power to ya
What about a stock looking version? I know some people would like a ROM that is much better than the crappy one that comes preinstalled. I think you might get a lot of hits from a lighter ROM that looks semi-stock. As stable as stock, but with all the enhancements and tweaks you can squeeze into it. Possibly a 6.5 and 6.1 version.

I think it's a very good idea and in my opinion the ROM must be based on WM 6.1. Email/SMS/MMS/Vido call/WIfi/ must work without a hitch. You could include opera 9.7b and maybe IE 8.
These are my suggestions. Merci.
P.S. i only use your roms!

Newer versions of PIE only work with 6.5 as far as I know. I agree that the most stable ROM is going to be 6.1, but if you go with 6.5 I would suggest an older build. 23001 seems like a turd to me. Went back to 21820 and its twice as fast with no bugs.

3 important things for a business ROM:
1. As clean as possible (only essential progs. installed, like Pim Backup, Adobe Reader, Pocket RAR, Google Maps, GPS Test)
2. Stable = reliable
3. Good battery life

lol i know what you mean
I have reverted back to 21018. After playing around with 4 later builds and a little go with 6.5 I am back here to old faithful. Very fast, battery burns lean, and every build i have tried later than this had some problem or other. slow/buggy or battery destroyer.

Easy to Use Dialer
Dialer:...................Accurate - consistent - easy to use - good speaker phone / mute / automated menu support
Three interfaces:....TF3D2 – Titanium – Win Phone Basic Text interface
Graphics:...............Clean with color - Landscape mode 6.1 style (quick easy buttons) Portrait Mode Action softkey
GPS:.....................Good stand alone support (no data plan)
MMS:....................Support for the largest attachments the carriers will allow
SMS:....................Good support for text conversations
Weather:...............Good support for text and graphic reports in all interfaces
Stocks:.................Good support for text and graphic reports in all interfaces
Wifi / Networking:...Corporate and HotSpot support
Programs Tab:........(TD3D2) 3 or 4 column option with app names under icons
Good battery life Business does not mean Boring – It means Practical Predictable Performance

Apps
I would say:
Remote Desktop
World Card
Adobe Reader
Office Suite (obviously)
Google Maps AND Live Search
All of the basics for GPS- QuickGPS, aGPS settings, etc.
Live Messenger (for Office Communicator support)
Those are the 'business' tools that I use most. Does that help?

yes yes yes
thank you for start takeing this as trend
please under the hood basic application
some applications in my rom i cant even remember when i used them
the most imprtant is Battary vs application ( i have charger at the car, home , office., .......poof....)
any small clock tic will eat somthing from the phone
Ram and heat.
my x1 cracked because of the heat, my ear after a good call get fride.
some rams goes above 60%
example i tried yesterday to put my phone in full withe new cocked rom( backlight full and battery power on ) the battarey draind in less than 2 hours, without any call or sms ... nothing
but applications like email, office, sms, organizer and contacts will be fine
yes please Business Edition is great what ever under the hood

Loved the Energy Rom3......but it was lacking (I could not find anyways) Voice Command applet. I use blue-tooth headset continually and have calls/messaging/reminders etc routed thru blue-tooth headset. Would love to see that in the business edition. That's mostly what this phone is used for.

Those **** roms are terrible...
This is an awesome idea... The chrome version was cool... but perhaps more emphasis on productivity. A nice action screen that brings up all of the things you would use on a daily basis and keeps them right at your fingertips... I know I need to take notes at a moments notice in my job... and it's hard to get things where I need them to be sometimes...
Also contacts and appointments are of the utmost importance... Constantly scheduling things and changing them around, it's nice to have things in an easily accessible spot...
Though I don't spend much time on the phone lately... I would imagine bluetooth would be crucial as well... and having as much control from the headset as possible would also be nice...
Then of course some "hey check me out *****es" graphics and apps that are streamlined and professional looking enough to show your boss when you pull the phone out and he asks "what the hell is that thing?"
That's just my $ 750,500,000 ZWD

Quite honestly, your current ROM is fit for business and displays appropriate graphics and tones. The add-ons are typically ones the manufacturers have missed and allow a much better experience than stock. I work with professionals everyday and when I show off ROM's from XDA, they often say if I had seen that at ATT or T-Mobile, I would have purchased this phone vs. Blackberry or iPhone.

This sounds like what I've been waiting for!
A simple WM6.5 interface that is stable and fast. No touchflo, as we all know that is not for business users. I think the best thing for this special business line, is that all the under the hood settings come pre-configured, and don't give us the option to make advanced config changes. I seriously waste so much time trying to tinker with the settings, and eventually make the device less stable.
Also this line should have one application for each function. I rarely need 15 chat clients, and 10 media apps!

Great idea.. Make sure to add Stock and Weather to Chome 6.5 These are helpful for those business travelers on the go with an eye on the market.. The JML Stocks plugin is sweet!!!!

Is this really needed?
I'm nearly new with this machine, but a very heavy Bussiness user of HTC PDAs for 5 years.
Comming from an Hermes, I have flashed your Energy Magic Rom 20090630 after two week of trying the stock one and threads reading here, and for me your main rom is fast, accurate, conservative with battery and completly perfect for work.
If someone feel titanium or tf3d improductive, it could be dissable. And the same could be done with the new menus and notification style.... To change three or four options in the default behaviour of your rom, that could be made with a few clicks here and there, don't justify a new line of roms.
Just my though...

Some new Athena user questions

Hey everyone,
I've been using a WM device for 2 years, a good and old KJAM and now the X7500. As you may have seen in my previous post, I'm going to use the X7500 as a UMPC together with my KJAM. I don't plan to ditch the KJAM, as I'm going to keep using it as my PDA and phone. The main purposes of the X7500 would be browsing (WIFI or HSDPA), watching movies, gaming and maybe some document editing.
I have to say, that I got lost trying searching and reading posts around here, and there seem to be a lot of confusion about many things, so I'm gonna ask some questions that I couldn't find one straight updated answer for. I know that these questions have been asked a lot of times, but as I said, there wasn't any clear answer for them (hopefully there is now).
1. I need a good, fast and reliable WM6/WM6.1 ROM. I don't need many features, just simple and as fast as possible. What do u recommend? By the way, if I flash another ROM will it change my device ID? I have bought a program that is registered to that specific device, and by changing the ID that program won't work.
2. BT mouse. how good does it work with the Athena? Will it slow down the system? Will it work with any program (esp. browsers)? How about connecting a USB mouse through the 4-in-1 cable, would it work?
3. Browser. We have a great device, amazing screen but I feel that no browser is good enough for it. I don't want anything fancy, but I want it to be fast and support tabbed browsing. Opera mini is fast enough, but it lacks an option to browse with XX% zoom out permanently like Opera, Netfront or even IE. All of the above are pretty good by the way, but they are simply too slow. Actually, I don't get that. Why are they so slow browsing with WIFI or 3.5G? Opera mini does the job faster, my desktop with the same connection does it faster, what's causing their lag? I found out that browsing through my desktop with LOGMEIN from the X7500 is even faster (but annoying).
Any browser that will hit the spot? Any way to speed things up?
4. Task manager. I want a program that will give me the multi-tasking capability of a desktop PC without slowing down the device. basically I need instant access to all the open programs in the same way the taskbar works on Windows. If the program will give me the option to choose whether to minimize or close a window, it would be better.
5. Printer. Can I plug a USB printer, or can I use only network/BT printers with the device?
6. Any other tips of-course would me most welcomed.
I hope you had the patience to read all of those questions, and maybe even more patience to answer them. Thanks a lot to everyone around here....
best rom? athena project 3. cannot be beaten. ther's a rule on here where theres no posting of roms allowed except project kitchen. This rom is made by people working all day on it, and a new version is released like every 3 months. because thats how long it takes to make it perfect. Im fairly sure the new one is being released this week. but dont quote me on that.
You named all the browsers anyone would suggest, so I cant really recommend anything.
For taskbar id say use wisbar if you need loads of features and skinnable taskbar along with cascading start menu like real windows, or wktask for just sortof tabbed taskbar. wktask is embedded into the rom I mentioned.
hope this helps

First of all, thanks a lot for your comment. I don't really understand what you mean by no ROM postings allowed around here. If I want a lighter ROM than Athena Project, and afraid to cook myself one, I'm out of luck? nobody can even publish their cooked versions of the AP ROMs?
There is no rule like that at all.
If you decide to cook a ROM, feel free to post it. The Athena Project do some great work, but they don't own these public forums.
i dont want to argue about it , but if that's the case, then why is there only one cooked rom avalable? plus check the sticky called proj ct kitchen to see where i got the impression that you cant.

1) I will suggest PK3.0 as the fastest IMHO, we are waiting the new WM6.1 (4.0 release) The .NET re-designed will improve the speed as is happening in many other ROMs. We are waiting also the results of the Athena Team tuning: wait the WM6.1 may be in the next week.
I have increased the speed using MEMMAID, (www.dinarsoft.com) as mantainance and optimizzation tool. The rom's speed depends only from chef choices for the first start but later is related to many other things. Manteinance is the best way to keep it fast
1b) Device ID changed? may be not, we will see...
2) I use a wired optical mouse and it works just as is supposed to do
3) opera 9.5 is fast, the beta is out and it is finger friendly and fast . Netfront 3.5 is fast too, I chose Opera
4) wktask is part of PK rom, you can download it here http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html and it does exactly what you need
5) Yes, BT or network, having jetcet print
ROM cooking is free and WELCOMED here!

This is the 6.1 porting from Kaiser I think.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363542
I think a lot of the browser slowness is down to windows mobile itself. Not sure why. Even the Opera Mini Java midlet is faster on the Symbian OS than on Windows Mobile. Netfront and Opera 9.5 are big improvements on what was available last year though, and Opera will no doubt have a few tweaks before its official release. No Flash or Java add-ons though still
Apparently someone has already managed to play youtube with Opera. Not sure if it is true as he has not responded to request for the cab file yet.

He had posted some screen capture of his earlier success, but found that subsequently it stopped working mysteriously. Anyway, he also said that he is sure when FL3 (instead of Flash player 7) is avaialble this would work.
The trouble is, will adobe release a FL3 for winmo platform...

The above works. Make sure you have installed flash player 7 and make the above edit to the ini file.

It's very jerky though. Still better off with the flash plugin. There's an application called EMTube on Symbian devices, would be nice to see it on winmo as it allows access to all the youtube Videos at high quality without loading up the browser at all. There's the Vtap application but that always seemed a bit stodgy to me.
On the subject of Fl3.0 you may have a long wait yet - it's still only been integrated into the N95 8gb, don't know what Adobe are playing at with the rollout for this - it was released as a developers' testing package over five months ago, at this rate someone's going to develop a workaround that screws them over: I HOPE AND PRAY!
That's why there was no excitement in my post. It's not really watchable.
I would still prefer to use PIE with TCPMP to download it first then watch it.
Hello,
I have been using the HTC WM6 ROM HERE and its been great. I wanted a basic ROM with no whistles and bows to get used to the device. Mine had the T-Mobile ROM on, nothing wrong with it but the phone dialer and theme are awful in my view. I tried both opera and net 3.5 and both show great promise, but they aren't ready yet. I ended up just getting one of the IE addon's that hanango do, fine for now. interesting to hear about the things you can use through the USB port. Ive been using the universal and stuff like that doesn't work on it. I think I need to go back and read up more!
Take care

Rom Update ???

Well I finally have my new device and it looks like i might have a little time this weekend to make an update and fix some minor bugs in my rom. please post suggestions here. All suggestions need to be in my friday midnight EST. thanks
How about making these changes to your last ROM?
- 16mb page pool to see if it goes a little faster.
- Do not auto download the quick gps data during the setting phase, since the device does not have time and data connection yet at that phase.
- update the large menu text cab so that it works. I had to look for the cab elsewhere last time.'
- Focus on speed.
- Keep it ultra vanilla. This is your number one selling point for me. I don't want all third party application to be chosen by myself and not seeing duplicated application/old versions/unused application.
- Make sure it is spl1.2. Do not want to lose memory for useless applications.
- If you intent to use newer built (Are you thinking of Touch Pro?), make sure it still supports Gsen application, and has random access for contact application. I personally love these two features.
- Make sure it has no htc touchflo or Ftouchflo. Have Ftouchflosl trial version if you wish. Else leave it for user to decide.
- Again, leaveb out realVGA. Some of us don't use it anymore.
- Continue to leave out HTC Home, and have just one theme. HTC Home They are all add ons.
- An important bug to fix is its inabikity to delete POP3 mails. Currently I can only delete non-POP3 mail, but for my pop3 mail, I'm forced to sign into the web-mail to delete them to prevent mail-box overflow. This is a pain.
Frankly, I'm still so happy with your last ROM, although I feel the speed could be further improved. So if there is only one change, let there be just speed improvement.
Thanks irus. I look forward to your fantastic ROM.
I'm now using Michy's rom whose main merits are speed and stability, but I like your Gsen function very much. I hope you can integrate the above-mentioned features in your new rom.
I would suggest no changing from your latest rom which I think is perfect, only bugfixes.
Changing could be for a newer release while I think your last one deserves just a trimming to be a reference rom. (I can't download full messages from the mail program???)
I would say fix the known bugs, increase speed if possible. After releasing that version, you can spend sometime looking at other possibilities (lite version, other builds or base, new features, etc...).
The lite / vanilla builds never actually worked in the long run for me because it always seemed something was missing which caused other applications not to work properly. They always seemed fast and potentially stable for a few weeks. After installing my apps and heavy usage, it always seemed to have gone down hill. Nonetheless, a lot PPL here love them.
It is also very important that auto rotate, gsen, and other features continue to work because I believe a lot of PPL stuck with this base because that stuff work well with on this ROM.
I never tried your rom mainly because I had the impression it was missing MMS. I know it is fairly easy to install myself, but I hadn't time to look for a proper version.
If your rom contains MMS, then forget about this post
Yes! also mms. I would consider the missing of it nearly a bug to be fixed as it is a standard feature of the athena missing... It is true that most of us don't use mms, but just in case...
ok these are all good suggestions, i will keep them in mind
I currently use your FULL ROM/3.5 and find it to be excellent. I hope you will NOT include any real VGA additions. Every one of them I have tried so far causes display problems with my "must use" apps.
Thanks for all your hard work.
I've tested All Athena ROM available.
I am using now the Sogarth base, isn't the fastest, isn't the most complete, but it is stable, has gsensor, big htc home, audio player doesn't stop working in suspend mode, index bar in contacts, battery life is great WITH BT enabled and some diamond enhancements.
The probem is ... it has to be tweaked
.net35 AND net2.0 to have compatibility with older and newest applications (modaco netcf config), some registry tweaks to improve the speed , michy's sound enhancement are much better, athena sensor service has to be stopped, IMHO are needed:
1) a newest remote desktop,
2) wifirouter (ori ICS control) ,
3) schaps advanced config ,
4) moblue,
5) total commander,
6) irus fsplayer,
7) pocketrar,
8) omnia d3d drivers,
9) Gsen,
10) wkTask (HTC Xbutton removed),
11) cyberon voice dial
12) I need mms too
I don't need realvga, the applications I like could use VGA resolution without realvga! Last, but not least, having and athena ROM CLOSER to diamond ROM should be easy to have compatibility with diamond and raphael applications (the most "developed" HTC model)
I strongly suggest a newest Sogarth, not "Extreme" but improved one (SPL 3.5). and "Extreme Sogarth" lite SPL 1.2 and 3.5 tweaked for maximum speed

it installs everything in the sdconfig.txt file but if you don't want something just delete that line of text. when i release my next version i will put a template of sdconfig.txt but this will only work for people without the loop problem.

What about the following:
1- Fnger touch
2- More diamnod drivers, graphics & functions like in ap5
3- check this link and sea if we can avail such functions http://www.touchxperience.com/

Requests for Michy's next ROM graphics

====
EDIT: As Michy has asked for graphics requests, he apparently already has something in mind for his 5.2 / 6.0. Yea! So be sure to post with any requests as to what you want the next ROM to look like.
====
You have to hand it to Michy. 4.1 and 5.1 are both fast, smooth, and (almost completely) trouble-free ROMs with tons of useful programs. And for both SPLs!
To tell the truth, until I flashed 4.1, I had regretted HardSPLing my device. Most of the ROMs I tried up until then were troublesome and just as slow as my stock WM6.0.
So in a way, this post is thanks to Michy. Gran bel lavoro Michy!
In another way, it is a request for something new. I know I am not the only one on this forum that gets nervous if he hasn't flashed a new ROM this month... I'm feeling the itch! I need my fix!
Anyway, thought it might be interesting to see what kind of ROM people wanted. Give your vote and comments please.
hi,
please just add your graphic-style request, so i can have an idea for a 5.2/6.0.
bye
Michael,
Good to see you are considering a new rom. In truth your 5.1 seems flawless and it's hard to imagine how much better you can make it. Thanks for your great work.
One suggestion I would give to make your next ROM easier to understand is: if you are going to include lots of apps like you usually do, it might be a good idea to put them in folders in the start menu according to their usage.
A Multimedia folder could contain YouTube Player, TCPMP, MP3Trimmer, Camera, Audio Manager, and Album links.
VoipCall, Slick, Messenger, Fring, Flash SMS, Call Firewall and others could be grouped in a Communications folder.
And some things like FTouchFlo, GSen CFG, GSen, GSenToggle, IContactConfig, PDM, PocketScreen, PIM Backup, PsShutXP, QuickGPS, RegEditor, SIM Manager, SynchroTime etc, etc, could easily be put in the Tools folder you usually include.
By doing this, you allow the person using the ROM to have easier access to the programs that they install. Because people are more likely to frequently use the programs that they install, rather than ones that come pre-installed.
Another suggestion is about the applications you include with your ROMs. I think I understand your logic in including lots of apps: the space is there in the ROM, so you might as well use it as long as the apps don't degrade performance. That's strong logic, and I agree with it. My suggestion is to only include apps that have reached a developmental dead-end; i.e. apps that are stable, and are no longer currently being developed. For example TCPMP, VNCViewer, and DotFred's Task Manager aren't updated very frequently - they make perfect additions to your ROM. Other apps, like YouTube, Manila 2D/3D, S2U2, ThrottleLauncher etc, are still in active development and can/should be updated from time to time. It is possible to update and install over the apps in the ROM, but then you have just wasted that space in the ROM.
As far as graphics are concerned, I am of two minds.
1) I have always really liked the touch/kaiser grey-on-white-with-blue-highlights. Very professional.
2) However, recently I have flashed my Hermes with PDACorner's Pro V.25 and I really appreciate the usefulness of the colors he uses in his status bar. Colors like that would really be useful against the flat black bars of the DiamondVGA.tsk you always include... They take a little getting used to, but make it really easy to know what is going on with your phone with simply a glance.
And this is a light and robust little Comm Manager that looks great with the skin in post eight.
And as always, thanks for your consideration. I wish I had the time, patience and talent to build such ROMs.
Not much more to add from my side, thanks larsuck!
- Make it as fast as possible without losing 5.1 stability
- Ahm...make both startup gifs like the ones from AP4.0, just with your name (I know, plagiate, but it looks great)
- Real-VGA, all programs/thumbnails should work and look according to chosen dpi, especially with 128dpi (seems to be the best choice)
- Remove time&date permanently from taskbar, so that all buttons can be seen and clicked without problems
- In short: please make it look like the original x7510 screen
Program wishes: maybe some program for real contacts import/export with edit-function on PC, I'm currently using xmlcontactsbackup but perhaps there are better choices.
Many thanks
just to renew my ROMs, i'm going to make a 5.1 Last Build Edition, with the last build i found on xda (20921). If this build will work well.......you'll have a new rom to falsh
There we go again weare just a bunch of rom addicts, lol, so far I been playing wit 5.1 is nice and respond qick only problems found so far is the bluetooth stack, (if the new build has something as AP4 Ill be in heaven) and Slic if I try to use it will give a BSD with a message saying fatal system exception or something, that was funny because it was the first time I have seen a BSD in WM, no a biggie for my I just do not use the app .
The programs included are useful but I rather get rid of duplicates e.g if you think icontact is better than stock contact manager get rid of the stock one( Im not complaining on that ,you have done a good job there so far).
the graphics just keep them consistent across the rom e.g not a black today a green communications and a white phone screen.
And if touchflow 3D was included working reliably that would be a plus.
Larsuck mention below to add mature apps only to the rom, I do not agree, why, because we will flash to newer roms during the development of the app so if a rom has the latest opera and a newer one appear we will have a newer rom sooner with the newer opera or whatever anyway, and because when a app reach its end of development time usually means that there are newer apps better and so its no point to keep developing the oldest ones ( not always the case) so as long the apps in the rom are solid stable just include what you think is useful.
Great job Michi and many thanks
I ask for two things...but only one is possible me thinks.
If you could get hootgaming working on your next rom, now that would be something. Something tells me it won't be possible as getting hold of the client .cab for winmob seems rather difficult.
Back in reality...I tend to use Claunch on my today screen as it works well but the only buttons that are any good tend to be based on the Iphone. Any app like this with an original button interface would be fantastic.
Keep up the good work.

Looks very promising..
What segment do you plan to occupy? Stability/speed/bleeding edge, etc?
Allways good to see a new chef When I look at the first beta it is an interesting mix , the windwos version is brand new , the manila packages are a bit old, hey are almost all 1918 packages or lower .. That doesn't have to be bad .. Will try it out when it's online ..
Welcom to the topaz section !
Welcome Player.
Just a thought...
There are some VERY well seasoned chefs already cooking for the TD2 but with all of the new tweaks coming out, i.e. BG for all tabs, 16 icon home shortcut, and some really cool themes with mininimizing manila sliders and customized buttons, it would be nice to see someone focus on the asthetics. Franlkly I find the customizers cumbersome and not very user friendly and a lot of aps conflict with eachother.
It could be a niche.
please put screen shot
@saeid9085001: lol I don't have my Pure yet to take screenshots, thats why its beta
@everyone else: I know the packages will be a little outdated but they are pulled from the AT&T Pure. Since it is my first Topaz rom and without me having the phone yet, it would be a safe bet to use the packages the Pure already uses.
Once I get the device and trial-error some new updated packages, I will.
My Roms are usually pretty basic. I HATE a bunch of junk in a fresh rom. I like my roms to be clean yet keep all of the phones original functionality. Running WM6.5.1 23071, I use Titanium as the default homescreen. The AT&T Manila version is included in this version but will likely go to the Leo one.
I like to include the latest Google Maps, Facebook, Netflix, Pandora, Marketplace, MyPhone, Windows Live, and PocketUno apps because they are small and useful. Of the HTC Stuff, I use the Phonecanvas, EzInput, Notification Manager + Enhancements, Task Manager, etc.
I am a rom-freak and love just customizing and building roms off the latest releases. I usually pump a rom out several hours after a new build is released. I am really picky about my roms and won't upload one unless I feel it is worth it. That said I usually upload a new rom every 2-4 days. My roms won't be bloated with a bunch of crap. It is designed to be a good starting point. I personally don't install anything else after flashing because it includes all the basics.
I use my roms daily, so speed is a big factor with me (which is why it isn't bloated with crap). I personally prefer Titanium, but include Manila.
My roms are also heavily themed, which I will begin once I get my Pure and update the packages. Asthetics is very important to me. I don't want my rom looking like it was thrown together when I show it to other people.
That and I also reply with huge posts!
tried it, it had an error with run fileop
windows/menu_FILEOP_End.txt.
failed
It loaded with windows 6.5 in the background but the above box showed up and froze up the phone.
Thats part of the config.txt file. It was there in AT&T's junk. Does a reset fix it? I'll make note to remove that line of code.
The file calls for an Opera Skin file, which I deleted. This is the contents of the menu_FILEOP_End.txt:
Code:
"%CE2%\Opera9\skin\standard_skin.zip"="%CE2%\_standard_skin.zip"
"%CE2%\Opera9\skin\standard_skin.zip:RS"="RemoveAttribute"
That process is only part of the customization and shouldn't reoccur on a reboot. The line was removed for future reference.

Negative - it just goes into a hard reset loop.

lmao. Half of that stuff I'd rather not include, personally. All I really use is Google Maps. Facebook, Pandora, and Netflix are all Widgets, nothing fancy about them. I think Windows Live is just a widget too. Trust me, all my included apps are little guys. I don't cook in Opera, Youtube, and I'd rather not cook in Manila if I didn't have too.
I've always been one to like a mostly stock rom with just the basics. It'll be good. Unfortunately my Overnight delivery has been ongoing since Friday? FedEx says tomorrow though. We'll see. It's still on the other side of the states.
In the mean time I can try to find some updated packages.
Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing some screenshots and hopefully giving this one a whirl when it's stable (-ish )
The diversity of talent on this site is great and I hope this rom has something to distinguish it - good luck mate
Peace
My Pure is due today, Tuesday, and looking forward to testing my latest rom. Having a device to flash is key.
I remember what it was like waiting for my pure, it was pure torture, got it delivered on columbus day weekend so it took 4 days instead of 2. I like the idea of using the pure stuff without bloatware, I liked how it ran, was just slow with everything added with it.
Yea just got home and turned on my Pure. It is pretty sloppy.
I think an AT&T rom without the bloatware was just recently released. I've been collecting leo stuff and the official WM6.5 Rhodium build that was just released has some really new packages. So I think I'm gonna go in that direction.
We'll see. I do like the Pure though. Good thing is that I've been testing the Pure's Keyboard on my Fuze and I thought it was really responsive and worked well. Glad to finally be aboard.
welcome aboard! if you're down, i'm open to working on some themes and overall polish for customized roms. let me know. i'm still getting my kitchen straightened out, although it'll all be redone when the official htc td2 wm6.5 comes out.
OH man I'm doing some finishing touches on my OC build for the Topaz. Wow it screams. The larger screen of the Topaz makes the start menu look a little bare compared to my Raphael... but it's welcome.
The only thing I can't figure out is how to load the SDconfig.txt from the Storage Card. In the Raphael we used UC, but these use RunCC. Doing research the only way to get RunCC to load a config.txt from a storage card is to trick it by using MortScripts. So at this time I just left it out. I never loaded anything at startup anyway. Its actually nice to boot up with a fully working phone without screwing with it.
I'm still testing, but I'll upload some pics... running at about 37% memory usage. Man it flies
nice! i just got my kitchen up and running. which leo dump are you using to source your newer stuff? i'm doing a hybrid leo 1.26 (with manila core from 1.28) and rhodium wm6.5 + a few topaz packages in there if they're newer.
let me try your rom!

did u switch back to WM6.5 after trying android ?

just curious if anyone switched back to WM6.5 after trying android on HD2 ? any particular reasons ?
After being an exclusive Windows Mobile user from the Pocket PC days in 2001, I tried Android on my HTC HD2 with great fear and trepidation. After 2 months i am VERY satisfied with Android and can't imagine ever going back.
Good luck with your decision.
never left WM, just run android on SD card
here more statements
I only tried one rom, it didn't work that well, and I hated not being able to customise it how I liked.
I absolutley hate sense/titanium/spb mobile shell... none of them work as well as my setup, I have my phone doing exactly what I want, when I want, and everything I use or need to see at all times is on my today screen. No other UI can currently give me that.
Every OS upgrade has brought less usability at the expense of 'looking nice', I hate having to go through multiple screens to do something as simple as turn on bluetooth and start a media player, one click for me and it's done. Same for many things.
I tried American Android on my HTC HD2. Battery life on all android sucks, so I am back on WM6.5. I am very sad Microsoft switched to WP7 after 6.5 is so cool.
Android must take care of battery management before releasing OS as now it just ruins the pleasure of Android OS. My WinMo6.5 lasts more than 4 days on one charge. I wanna see Android doing this

I particularly like Spb Mobile Shell. But if you've got something that works better for you than it does, I'd be interested to know what that might be. Can you tell me what makes your WinMo 6.x work so well for you?
FWIW I've never tried Android and don't anticipate doing so for quite awhile. Same for Windows Phone. I have too much invested in Windows Mobile Apps to move off it, especially since they do what I need them to do so well.
I came from using the original HTC Touch for nearly 4 years with WM6.5 and promptly went to try Android when I first got my HD2. The 2 most important thing to me on my phone is the email client and the web browsing. I couldn't get used to the native email app or K9 in Android and came back to WM6.5 for about a week.
I then took the dive to go to WP7 Mango and I love the email integration there. The web browsing is not very nice and Microsoft pushing the use of Bing is very frustrating, but the browser itself is decent. So while the battery life is absolutely horrible in WP7, it can still get me through the day on light usage.
So, I tried coming back to WM6.5 but there certainly are many things to like about the current generation operating systems. WM6.5 just feels sluggish comparatively because everything seems several more clicks away for me. There are various things I miss though. Apps I had purchased are a big one, but I can live without it for now. The other is the task manager. The automatic task management concept is a nice idea in Android but I like quick access and control over it (something ICS possibly has addressed). WP7 its not an issue for now because non-native apps don't run in the background.
Overall, I think you at least owe yourself to try Android since it can run alongside WM6.5. Give it a real shot because there are only going to be more and more things that are available to current gen OS that won't be ported to WM6.5

I guess that to me the essence of these new OS, and SPB Mobile Shell is that it puts form over function, to perform any action with those requires a lot more effort than it does with how I've set my phone up, it also seems to work slower.
For a start, I have on my Today Screen the things which I want to use or see most often. SPB Diary, easy today launcher, and alarmToday. I also use wkTask task manager for the tabs. My two soft keys are also customised, one runs WM5NewMenu (which is also run by long hold of the send key), the other runs a script I made with mortscript which closes all open programs, and resets the system settings to my default preferences, such as screen orientation and brightness.
In my WM5NewMenu popup menu, I have shortcuts to all the other things I use most frequently, such as messaging, not to open my inbox, but to open a text or email with the person I'm sending it to pre-defined. So for example if I want to text my wife, it's only 3 clicks from any screen. Note that WM5NewMenu is as quick as pressing right click with your mouse on your desktop, and each submenu is just as quick. I also backup my PIM data every day automatically have a script which sends it via email to myself, so if I have lose my phone or have to hard reset and my storage card get corrupted (or any other worst case scenario) I'll never be without the information I really need.
I also have google mobile in the launch menu, a couple of scripts to start/stop my media player, which will turn on bluetooth, allow me to connect my headset, then set the volume to maximum, offer a playlist selection and then lock the screen etc.
There are quick links to toggle WiFi and BlueTooth and start menu (the hardware buttons are too low for one handed use). I have one which opens my file explorer (apparently missing on WM7) to my IE favourites folder, and after I pick one it will close the file explorer again.
My lock screen is customised with the slider exactly where I find it the most comfortable to use, and the message is my phone number, in a different font, so I can show people easily when they ask and I've forgotten it.
A few other things without dragging on forever -
A Script which programs my work schedule into my diary with as little as 2 clicks for each day's work.
And I don't profess anything but a superficail knowledge of other OS, but the ability to use the same .LNKs and parameters as on my PC is extremely useful. For example, I can make a .LNK to the messaging .EXE, and include any or all of the following, To, CC, BCC, Subject, Content, and attatchments. Examples of use can be if you text the same thing each day, like 'I'm on my way home' would take a maximum of four clicks to send from any screen.
A coreplayer link which also sets the sreen brightness to max.
A lot of my .LNKs have different icons to the default program's
I've removed as much of the HTC customisations as I could find out how to, such as the HTC messaging.
I have a basic keylogging system in place (not a true keylogger, but it logs every time I use any program) so I can check when I did things. This sounds really anal or obsessive but, for example, it's usefull for when I take a break at work and forget when I started my lunch hour, I can just check what time I turned my phone on.

I have an external battery charger and have often managed to deplete one battery before the other has been charged, but this is while watching a film with a bluetooth headset and the screen brightness at maximum.
Tried Android on HD2 & native device, HD2 soon went back to WM6.5.3 because:
-Better battery life & charging control
-Customization of WM is unbeatable
-Every icon, position, text, background can be what I want
-Fast access to all daily tasks (wifi, tethering,BT,SIM switching, email) all handled within 1 or 2 touches & all status easily viewable
-Better Asian language support
-Better Language suite applications
-Better Office applications
-Excellent Video & music players.
-OS file system is easily handled & integrates & shares better with my Notebook files.
-Stability of my WM custom rom is faultless & backup/contact/file integration to Windows applications I use are not wanting replacing due to cost & time of setup.

mortscript.
I thought that might be it. I haven't messed with mortscript for a couple of phones now. I once wrote a long script I used to report on calls, minutes and data, but it's been awhile.
Thanks
u can always boot Android from SD card and be certain that it won't mess up your WM...i've successfully ported gingerbread, froyo, honeycomb and ics on my HD2 and i'm very satisfied...have fun!
though, NAND versions are faster, more stable and have better development
no , but we wish that we can boot wm6.5 from nand / dual boot winmo and android like wph7 and android in that way maybe we boot winmo because i miss some apps there
..
When I able to do this from my HD2 on android will switch on it until then wm 6.5 is my love hehe. Stupid microsoft and metro sh...t!!!!!!!!
Do not want to miss my tethered sync with Outlook

I keep with WinMo6.5 because I want to do everything locally. I just don't like the buzz about putting everything on third party servers and airtime communications.
My mails are on my own servers and those of my company. When I sync my mails& contacts I use only my own electrons flowing through my private USB cables.
Neither Apple, nor Google, nor Microsoft need to know what I am doing, who i have as contacts and where I curently am located.
Additionally I am traveling frequently abroad and don't want to pay horrid sums per MByte on roaming fees.
I don't like androids behavior to start applications without asking me and there is no way to stop that, so I will keep using WM. Suck it android!
Yes and No
I got my phone in July 2010 and loved it. Battery life was bad and a lot of tweaks had to be done (thanks XDA). I got the courage to flash a custom WinMo rom by November 2010. Heard so many things about Android and tried it in 2011 and hated it. It was still shabby with Gingerbread and I missed Microsoft Office on the phone and exchange services. I ran back to WinMo after some days and didn't look back.
The world seemed to pass by and with no interest in Winmo, app development ceased (except here). WP7/7.5/8 just looked like a giant leap backwards and never tickled my fancy. Blackberry was a no. Iphone seemed overpriced. Ubuntu not out yet. That left Android, the most like the WinMo we all love. I don't like being stuck in the past, and my phone will be changed as soon as I see a decent one. The great phones now are all android. Why not seize the opportunity the HD2 afforded us to try everything?
Feb 2013, I flashed Android on NAND with Jelly Bean 4.1.2. It really has matured as an OS and I found out the best things about my Winmo UI are almost all incorporated into the ROM without much modding/tweaking. Since then, I have been happy with the phone. It can once again do things 95% percent of phones can't do. Battery life is still bad, thanks to Google syncing the lives of millions needlessly.
I really prefer avoiding storing personal information on Google servers like someone noted. There should always be options for offline methods as a backup. Maybe I am getting old and should follow the trend?
This ended up quite long, but bottom line is Android on my HD2 is a necessary step in the evolution of technology for me. Thank you and God bless.
