Radio question - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all. Just a quick one regarding the lack of tm radio. I always love listening to the radio in the morning...however obviously the hero disappoints there... I've tried a few web radio apps but none of them provide access to the stations id normally listen to in London. Also going on the station website, they don't recognise the browser! Any ideas?

Request - cracking and open the radio chip in X7500

The usage for X7500 radio chip beside of FM radio is for GPS navigation usage, the new navigation software versions use TMC for calculating the rout in case of trafic (IGO/MIOMAP/Destinator/TOMTOM).
For using the TMC - radio reciver needed...
It can be an advance feature for X7500 users world wide...
TMC - Trafic Message Channel
The Traffic Message Channel (TMC) is a specific application of the FM Radio Data System (RDS) used for broadcasting real-time traffic and weather information. Data messages are received silently and decoded by a TMC-equipped car radio or navigation system.

The X7500/01 Don't support this Radio protocol. It doesn't even have an FM Radio tuner.. Just give it up.
others disagree
There are several other posts that say the radio is on board but not enabled. Do you have specific knowledge? can you refer to your source?
Look at the pix and details posted about the chips in the X7500 on the internet. The radio chips used do not spport FM recption.

With greetings from the netherlands Iwan
Hey Iwan in the Netherlands,
I don't have the pioneer, but did play with one in the store recently. I know your trying to pair the phone to the radio, but actually, I think it should be the other way around. Try this:
Set the radio on discovery
Using the HTC, search for new devices
The radio's model number should appear
Check both boxes for audio streaming and hands free.
Hope this helps & works.

Remote Control Protocol to control from External Device?

Was talking with Pioneer regarding their AVIC series as well as others but mainly about using an Android phone to control Pandora just like they allow the iPhone too. This is what they asked me:
Do the Android phones support the remote control protocol that is required to control the phone from an external unit? That remote protocol is why the AVIC-X920BT works with the iPhone through PandoraLink.

Im trying to get Pioneer to come out with an Android app to control the phone(or at least Pandora) from the headunit
Not sure if the Galaxy S/Vibrant comes is compatible or if another Android platform is? I can play and pause Pandora from my X920BT head unit through Bluetooth but would rather control everything from the headunit like most people can that have an Iphone and a Pioneer Head Unit with Pandora Link.
It sounds like you're thinking of AVRCP, which is a standard BT profile. There are different versions of it that reveal different capabilities.
1.0 covers basic play/pause/stop. 1.3 adds the ability to see what the current status is (playing, paused or stopped), as well as metadata (such as artist, album and track information). 1.4 adds even more features, such as the ability to control multiple devices, browse through the devices' metadata including a "now playing" playlist, and even basic search abilities.
However, what you are talking about seems to be the reverse of what most people want with their handsets and BT. I'm not certain if AVRCP support is inherently bidirectional. However, now that there is a name to what you are looking for, perhaps someone can steer you in the right direction.
(And, BTW, this really ought to be moved to Vibrant Q&A, since this really has nothing to do with development.)
Thanks, can a mod move this thread for me? Greatly appreciated
I am with you on this.....

I also have a X920BT and would certainly LOVE to see the Android interface working. Shout if you do need help. But it seems like you made more progress than me. I contacted them about three months ago and it does not seem like they were very interested in talking with me. You are one step ahead.
Maybe if we can get more Andoid/X920BT users to pole them for attention, they may do something about it....
Good work!
Heres the email I got from Pioneer:
Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
Unfortunately as of right now we have not received any information about adding support for the Android operating system. But with the Droid phones becoming extremely popular and more and more people asking for it could just be a matter of time before we issue some update to add that feature.
Thank You,

Everyone needs to start emailing them so they will be forced to come out with this feature

2005 Audi A6 3.2Q & Bluetooth

Prior to my recent discovery of the XDA community and others alike, I searched through Audi forums with no such luck to finding my answer.
Now that I have access to the minds of the tech world, I figured my answer might be answered quickly and correctly.
I have paired my Rezound to my car without a hitch (with ICS & CleamROM, the early GB stock acted up constantly). However, I am looking for a way, if at all possible, to upload my contacts via Bluetooth (there is a dock in the center console but I doubt they make an attachment for the Rezound). I would also like to be able to play music from my music apps such as Pandora, Google Music, etc. via Bluetooth.
I bought the car used, and I'm going to assume the software in the car (it has navi) hasn't been updated since it was first purchased.
My goal is to get a definitive answer as to whether my car is capable of either (uploading contacts via Bluetooth & streaming music via Bluetooth over the car speakers) and if so, what is needed to go about doing so (do I need to update the cars software and such or download an app or tweak some settings to make it work).
Appreciate what you guys do here, been utilizing this forum for months now and have learned a ton. Hoping to soon use my new found knowledge to help others that are new & transition for my noob status of just reading, learning & asking questions.
Sent from my Rooted, $-Off'ed, CleanROM 1.3 Dev. Edition Rezound!

[Q] Bluetooth issue.

I apologize if this is in the wrong place but here goes. My Alpine HD137BT bluetooth radio connects with my phone just fine, everything works perfect accept two things, the radio doesn't display my artist and track info and my Pandora wont work. I used to have a ATT HTC Inspire 4G rooted and the radio worked perfect with any ROM I used. But from some reason neither my OneX or OneX+ with any ROM displays the track info no matter what ROMs I use, even stock. Pandora always throws a "NO PANDORA" error on the radio even though I have car mode enabled. My current setup is an ATT one x+, rooted running a stock rom and I use Poweramp. Any thoughts guys/gals?
