Found hi capacity AC charger - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

Thought you all might be interested in this.
Especially if some have more then one devices that charge via mini usb.
Its max amps can supply UP to 2a per port...i think the TP2 only calls for 1a which will leave us with plenty of power supply for other items. this will hopefuly increase charge time slightly IF the TP2 will draw 1.5a like the battery outputs.
At any rate, it will definatly charge faster then the 500mah usb ports on your computer...

Ok i received my charger in record time. I guess the company is only a few towns away from me.. cool.
My review will be on going as i learn more about the charger.
Firstfrom the pictures you will see its very small, even smaller then our original oem charger
you will also note from the pics that the front says 2000MA..
the back pick also shows its break down.
for instance...if you use 1 port only, a max of 2000mah COULD be output.
using both ports, a max of 1.5 per port COULD be output.
This charger will also support if you have dual usb cables ( a Y cable that can charge 2 devices.)
so potentialy this charger can charge up to 4 devices at once!
so far i charged my tp2 on stand by from 0% to 100% in 2 hours and 15 minutes!
ongoing tests will be added and updated!

Extended battery for the S7?

Any third party extended battery options for the S7? I prefer the slim version if possible.

I rigged up a battery pack using 4 rechargeable Energizer AAA's and just plug it into the DC power socket and double-sided taped it to the back of the unit
I imagine I could use some left over spare Li-Ion batteries from other phones though.

Nice guys! I was searching for an internal battery solution.
These battery packs look nice but be carefull, the output is only 500 mA. The S7 charger is a 2amp output charger. I'm not sure how well it will run on a lower input.

The DC pack will only feed what the unit draws, and I doubt very much that it draws the entire 2000mA.
I have rigged up a USB charging cable for myself, USB pumps out 5v at 500mA max per port (I'm only using 1) and it charges a little slower than from the wall, depending on which computer I'm charging from, but apart from that it works great still and I can use the same cable to charge from other USB-charging devices like the one I have in my car.
The 500mA output will just mean it charges slower, and seeing how it's only a battery extender (IE, the oem battery is still required) and not a charging solution (the S7 can run without the battery off only the charge from the wall), the charge provided will be fine for extending the battery life.

500mAh as supplied by standard USB will charge but as you say only slowly.
It will not start a charge if the battery has been allowed to drop too low. That's common with all Lion batteries and is why you get a high current wall charger to do the job.
If you are using the device at the same time (and depending on the functions in use and the state of charge of the battery) you will definately struggle with any positive charge and will experience heat build up in the USB port, cable and device so be carefull!
If you are also using the device as a phone and get a call there will be an extra high peak current draw that has to be contended with and that complicates things further.
With all the tests that I have done allong these lines 1000mAh is a bare minimum to cope with eventualities and even then it's borderline.
I have blown car adapter fuses and had low current phone chargers get really hot.
I now only use 2000mAH rated chargers.
Are there any? I would really want to have a battery that could last at least 6 hrs... Any suggestions?

Energizer XPAL XP18000
That will give you about an extra 12-18 hours,
But no internal battery larger than standard. Why would you want one when the external packs are usable with any device and don't become redundant when you upgrade to a different model?
I made such a battery of two packages of Chinese Tablet battery voltage of 7.4V LiJon / 1500mAh connected in series and used a converter on the circuit LM2576 (with car charger navigation) [//chomikuj.pl/wibi) -> Huawei Ideos S7/Dodatkowa bateria]. I thought my charger that I bought was defective cause I let it charge overnight and it wasn't fully charged. That is not the case.
The Charger that the Note comes with charges at 1A. Most of these external battery only chargers charge at 350mA.
Take a look at this calculator:

Using the link to the calculator above, you should expect a 2600mAh battery to fully charge using one of these cheap chargers in about 9 HOURS!! The charger that the note comes with should expect about 3.4 hours. That's a huge difference in charge time!!
So be sure to take a look at the output of these chargers before you get too excited and purchase one. If it takes you 24 hours to charge a battery, what good is it to you?

This is basically another scenario of 'you get what you pay for..'
It seems to often apply to batteries and chargers.
Whereas for like cases, you have a better chance of actually saving money and getting quality at the same time.

So I guess for battery longevity, you should use a 500 mA charger (the typical USB output). That way it doesn't charge it too quick (and overheat the battery).

No, actually. Lithium ion batteries, unlike nickle-cadium batteries actually perform and last better with short, fast charges. Android's battery stats are helped by a few full cycles, but it is not better for the battery to full cycle or slow charge.

*I am not an electrical expert, I just play one on TV.*
There are standards for USB outs. Just Google the standard. That said, there is USB1, USB2, and now USB3. Check your motherboard to see which one you have. There is also a newish thing on motherboards that will do a rapid charge by changing a setting on the BIOS. That's what i got off the top of my head. Do a little research.
As was pointed out on another thread, the Note looks for a low resistance/short between pins 2 and 3 of the USB cable. If it sees the low resistance, it enables a high current charge; otherwise, it sticks with USB standard charge of less than 500 ma. The 2/3 pin setup is not true of USB connections to a computer. The Note power adapter is set up this way to do a fast charge. Most chargers and portable battery chargers leave pins 2 and 3 unconnected, so they will not fast charge a Note even if they can supply 1A.
I purchased a Scosche 5000 mah battery with USB ports for charging Ipads, Iphones, and other devices. It also charges a Galaxy Tab with a special USB adapter plug. I tried the Tab adapter with my new Note and it was charging at 5 percent charged every ten minutes or so. Without the USB adapter, the Note charged at 2 percent every ten minutes or so. Without the adapter, the Note displays an MTP initialization notification. With the adapter, there is no MTP notification.
The Scosche battery is a big improvement over older Trent 5000 mah batteries. There is a push button to turn the Scosche battery on. The battery will turn off if no device is attached or it the device is fully charged. One of the ports can output 2.1A for an Ipad. The Trent battery would run down if it was left on.
Staples carries the Scosche battery for $80. I used a $29 online coupon from Staples that expires 3/5/2012.
I did not see anywhere on the Scosche website where they sell the Tab adapter by itself.

Do you have a model number on that USB adapter? Maybe in the instructions?
There is only the name Scosche on the adapter. The guide only calls it the Galaxy Tab adapter.

What does an "MTP initialization notification" look like on the Note? How do I identify it?
If I don't see it when charging, does that mean it's getting a fast charge for sure, or just that it might be?

How exactly would you use a multimeter to do this? From what I've seen, they have two contacts -- where would you stick those? Or is there some kind of micro USB conversion thingy to use with a multimeter?

Cut a USB cable, and strip a portion of the power wires. Set the multimeter to a 10A DC current scale (assuming it supports 10A, but most craftsman and up do, with common and a 10A lead), disconnect the plug, attach common to negative wire and positive to positive wire, gator clips or something, then plug it in and read it. The current support and time it can be on depends on the multimeter. Mine does up to 10A for Max 30 sec.

EP851 is just the retail version of the EP850 [proof, kinda]

I have recently been profiling a few USB chargers to figure out which one is the best for rapidly charging my phone. A few threads have pointed to the EP851 charger being something a bit special. I was thinking about it on the drive into work..
The specs say that it charges for 60 minutes talk time in 10 minutes.
The XS has 8.5 hours talktime,
This means the charger can fully charge the phone in 8.5 * 10, 85 minutes
Plugging these values into my Charge Timer app gives an estimated power output of 1235ma, almost identical to the 1211ma of mu cheapo 1500ma charger.
Given this closeness, and the fact that the EP850 is also rated at 1500ma I am conclude that they are the same thing.
So, if you want a fast charger for your XS, and are waiting for the EP851, stop waiting and get a genuine BlackBerry Playbook 2A charger. It is about 10% faster (est 1314ma) and available now.

Is it possible that the S has the "boost" pin with its USB connector and the 51 triggers it?
This is my understanding of it. PIN 1 and 4 provide power, 2 and 3 provide data (and 5 provides USB OTG?)
If pin 2 and 3 are not bridged, the phone will charge at the maximum rate as determined safe by the usb 2.0 spec
If pin 2 and 3 are bridged the phone will charge at the maximum rate as determined safe by the phone designers.
Both scenarios are, of course, restricted by the power that the connection can supply. For example, if you plugged the phone into a 1000A charger, I would expect it to only pull about 6? amps
As for "is the Playbook charger is safe?", the Playbook has the same type of battery as the SXS, just a lot bigger. For the Playbook, this charger is considered the slow charger, and a rapid charger that pushes more amps at 12V is available.
Obviously, its your phone so use it how you want. I prefer mine in my pocket instead of tethered to a wall so I am going to use the fastest charger I can.

Increase your charging speed by 2x with new cable

I just bought two sets of SONICable,The World's Most Advanced Charging Cable, for $49.00. Supposedly, they will increase you charging speed by 2x. It's a crowdfund project, and the cables will supposedly be delivered in March 2015.
I'm not affiliated with the project. I only think it sounds like an exciting product and decided informing the community about it.

Well while surely there are better and worse cables, doesn't charging speed depends on the output of the wall piece and the charging circuitry?
On bad cables i get at most 1 Amp to charge the tablet, but with the original samsung cable i do get around 2 amps which is the designed output of the wall piece.
Maybe it works like the "Fast Charge" mode on custom kernels.
Charging is limited by 3 factors
1. Stock charger 5 Volts, then most importantly is the Amps - 2A for typical Samsung charger so going faster then this is unlikely with the stock charger, and tablets can already charge at 1890mA so probably 90% of its rated current.
2. Cable quality and length most Samsung cables are already high-quality and have copper wires with two bigger wires for the 5v and Ground line and they are short length (3-6ft) so they can easily handle 2A output (probably higher).
3. Probably the most important is the phone / tablet, usually they have several circuitry and software (kernel) protections to limit the charging speed for several reasons since lithium-ion / poly are extremely dangerous if they are overcharged or overheated or otherwise improperly charged (you can see videos of people overcharging lithium battery's then tapping them causing a huge fireball )
So it is very unlikely for a cable to achieve better charging speed, it probably just has the Data + - pins shorted to tell the charger / phone to charge at full speed (though this is unnecessary nowadays since most chargers already do this, but it could be beneficial for older phones / tablets)

You seriously spent $49 on a usb lead

Hes either a bot or someone paid to advertise that "product". It did remind me of "double your network speed" video from youtube where dude wraps one ethernet cable with another one and doubles his internet speed.
I saw this post a while back, and it was immediately clear to me that it was a scam. I can't BELIEVE that they actually raised over $400k on this thing. Indiegogo seems like it's becoming a scammer's conduit to gullible/uninformed buyers.

Apparently, there's a difference between buying a sd-card on amazon, or a glass protector on amazon compared with a pair of cables on Indiegogo. Although, I can't really see the difference.
Anyway, if and when I receive the cables I will let you know how it worked out.

Seems like an interesting concept. I'd like to see the cable in real-world action. Assuming they actually make it to market, i'll buy when the price goes down.
Believe it, or not, but I actually received my cables last week. The charging speed is substantially improved, but definitely not 2x. However, I still haven't tried charging by connecting over the PC, where this might show up. Anyway, as a fan of gadgets I still satisfied with my purchase.

Charging speed is limited by the circuitry in the tablet itself. There's a limit in the amount of amps it can pull from anything (charger/computer or any USB port). I have an extremely powerful charger so I'm sure I hit the max charging rate of my devices. This cable will not improve that. I'm also sure that it's actually charging faster and drawing more power than my original chargers as some devices act a bit weird when charged fast.
The "twice as fast" charging rate will be the exact same charging rate as you get from a "charge only" cable if (and only if) you connect it to a computer or another device that syncs data. In every other scenario you'll get the exact same charging rate.
Note that your computer typically has a USB port for charging that's capable of drawing more power than the standard 500 mA that USB 1 and 2 offer. (USB3 can draw 900 mA, up to 1500 mA if it's a charging port)
Keep in mind that the stock charger output is 5.3 volts.
Lower impedance cable helps.
Samsung stock cable is good enough, and PNY cable also does a good job.

Yes I got my cable, and the 2x works if you charge through your computers USB, as what the cable does is cutting off the communication to charge only. I saw a post at XDA that explain how to do this by yourself in about 5-10 min.

Choetech USB Quick Charge 2.0 Car Charger

So I've been able to test out this nice USB car charger from Choetech Official​ with Qualcomm 2.0 charging capabilities. And I must say this lil thing works very well. Charged my Nexus 6 up from 15% to 73% around 45min. It's a well built charger that has smart technology for recognizing what kinda devices you have plugged in.
Has a dimmed LED that changes from blue to green when you plug up a fast charge device.
It's a dual USB port charger.

I received this charger couple weeks ago and have been using it. The charger arrives in a nice package with the standard accessories. Inside it has the charger, the usb cable, instructions manual, and a pamphlet that ask if you're happy with the product or not. Pretty standard nowadays. I got the black charger but they also offer it in white. The charger is shorter than my other ones which is a plus for me. I don't like them to stick out of my car port since it's really close to my shift knob. The charger comes with two usb ports. 1 is for quick charge 2.0 for some phones like my galaxy note 5. The other is a normal port that charges pretty fast too, up to 2.4 amps. You can use either ports to charge your devices and they will charge to the max allowed but if you have a quick charge 2.0 enabled device, it's best to use that port. They colored the port blue for fast recognition which is nice. I don't have to fiddle around with it while I'm driving to figure out which port it is. The quick charge can charge my phone from 50% to close to full in about 45 mins. It takes longer if the phone is being used. I use the charger daily during my drive to school. I always charge it up to 100% before I head to class so it can last me all day. I was worried that by using quick charge so often, it would deteriorate my battery life but I haven't experienced that yet and hope I never do. When I use the charger to charge 2 devices, they both charge at their max. My phone charges with the quick charge while the other phone charges with the other port and it doesn't affect each other, which is very good. I really love this charger. If Iphones had quick charge, I would buy this charger for everyone in my family.
Choetech also was nice enough to allow me to test one of these charger for them.

This is a great little charger, and I do mean little.
The size actually surprised me a bit considering this is a 4 port charger.
I expected this to be a huge block sticking up from my 12v car port, but it actually is a nice small charger.
I have 2 port chargers that are bigger than this is, enough about that, on to the review.
Looking in the package you will find:
The Choetech 4 port Quick Charge 2.0 certified charger
3' USB cable
Instruction manual
The USB cable is one of the best ones I have received with a charger in a while.
It is not thin and flimsy like you usually get.
The charger itself is made of a nice gloss black plastic and looks and feels like it will hold up well to years of abuse in your vehicle.
This charger does support Qualcom Quick Charge 2.0, meaning that it will auto adjust voltages and amperage to best charge you compatible device as quick as possible.
In testing I found this charger to be able to charge my LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in about the same time as my other Quick Charge 2.0 certified wall chargers.
This will also charger non Quick Charge 2.0 certified devices at the maximum rate they will allow.
I tested my LG G3 that is not Quick Charge 2.0 certified and will max out at 2.1a charge rate.
It got 2.0a charge rate from this charger which is great.
There is also a blue LED on this to help you find it easier in the dark.
The LED itself is dim as to not be distracting,
I have attached some pictures showing how small this charger is and me using it to charge multiple devices including 2 phones and a GPS unit.
I have had zero problems with this unit and am glad to have it.
I would recommend this to anyone with a car or truck and either multiple devices they need to use daily or a device that is Qualcom Quick Charge 2.0 certified.

I got to use this charger too. Having 4 ports, one with quick charge was really handy. I was able to charge my Nexus 6, Nexus 9 tablet, and an iPhone 5S all from the same charger without having any drop off in charge rate from any of the devices I could measure with Ampere (Nexus 6 & 9). Overall, there isn't much more to say that the other guys above didn't say.
Other thoughts:
It's really small. This thing packs a lot of power for its size.
It is scratch and finger print prone, but I plan on leaving this in the car all the time; so that doesn't really affect me.
The charging light changes color based upon normal charging (Blue) versus quick charging (Green)

I wonder why there aren't dual QC 2.0 ones out there.

probably grabs too much power and the design to make that might be too complicated without having some power fall off? Personally, my phone is the only QC device i'd worry about and the rest could take the slower charging. But that's my 2 cents.
I have this charger, too, along with a number of other CHOETECH products. Their quality is top notch with affordable pricing!
I have this charger in white so it sticks out surrounded by all the black leather in my car, but that makes it easy to spot and I keep the white charging cable in the quick charge slot so I know which to use when my phone is low. It doesn't seem to charge fast while the phone is in use, but it does charge quickly if you just leave your phone idle and let the charger work its magic.
Even you didn't have a quick charge device, it's handy to have a two port charger. I'm happy with that product.
