[Q] A stock ROM with ereader...recommendations??? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've flashed my HD2 7 or 8 times in the last fortnight with different cooked ROMs and whilst I admire the job that you guys are doing, none of your ROMs are good for me (either stability issues, missing apps or bugs that I couldn't live with...yes, I know I'm fussy...lol)
All I really want is a 2.xx ROM (preferably with the 576mb RAM enabled) as close to stock as possible for stability with the ereader tab built in.
Anybody got any recommendations?
Alternatively, does anyone know if the 2.10 ROM at http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html is a stock ROM or a cooked one?

Thanks Scotsman. Your ROM seem about as close as I'm going to get to what I want. I'm really pleased to have the ereader tab back
Just one thing though. In all stock ROMs I've used previously, a long press of the right hardware key (call hangup) would normally result in a Ringer status, Power off etc. menu. This doesn't happen with your ROM. A long press just initiates a shutdown.
Is there any way to get the standard menus back? It's only a small point but I'd prefer the stock menu.
Cheers.

Which ROM did you end up flashing? 6.5 or 6.5.5? I just released a new 6.5 ROM today that has the function you mention, long press end key.
I'll be adding it to my 6.5.5 ROM tomorrow too

wm version
I opted for 6.5.5. Look forward to the latest version tomorrow.
Thanks again.

HTC home plugin, recommandations and wishes
I have one recommendation and one wish for future perfect ROM.
My recommendation which is already present in .5 cross ROM but non other ROM havent, is HTC home plugin .in 5 cross ROM can able to show simcard line status instead of operator name. What I mean is I have two line in one simcard and changing my lines by entering its pin codes and It is perfect to see which line are you using is a very wonderful gift that .5 cross ROM have. Regular phone able to show both operator name and the line that you are using. Afte 1.5 year I supprised to see on windows mobile. If possible could you pls inform me how to change it in htc home plug or could you pls apply it for you future ROM.
The other my wish is closing the applications how as in tocuhflo way. Everybody can easily agree that the worst thing is closing applications by targeting X button. If it possibble to apply all applications doing this feature sucf as touchflo way like sliding up your finger to close, I thing that ROM will be the number one that whole WM6 users have the reason to change their ROMs
Thanks four your works and I'm keeping in touch everday waiting for perfect ROM.
clock will be ddd dd/mm/yy
ex: Thu 26/07/07
have fun.

we'll only have one problem with that sliding up to close programs.... what about contact and internet explorer or even the windows folder. if we do that then the scrolling would only work down and close if we try to scroll up again. this would aplay to all apps that have the option to scroll
but it would be cool to hace some movement close programs..
It´s done when it´s done!
What is all this - viral marketing for a still not existing ROM?
I think it´s done when it´s done - no need for the 5th threat without new information!
Let´s simply wait until the TOUCH ROM gets published and stop further spamming this forum. And for all those who get bored waiting, there are more than enough other good ROMs for testing in playing.
Thanx anyway to all persons creating these exciting new Roms for our HTC Prophet.
yeah you're right gullum but any genius movement can be find to close such as one side to oposite site that non of the applications doesnt use and also havent capability in that way as far as I know. My suggestion is sliding up-right to bottom-left for example.
And also one thing should be considered that when you figure out of usage percentage of sliding applications against to sliding to close (ofcourse if avaible), I thing we will hit the usage of sliding to close.
something like mouse gestures in opera/fierfox? great idea
It's so hot ~~~~

[Q] Spike's Pure ICS Rom Queries

Hi,
There is a package in Spike's thread for v5.0 for the battery percentage. My question is, can that be installed on v6.1?

Thanks for the answer...
btw i have a little more questions...
after using v6.1... i realise that i am no longer able to take screenshots on my sgs2. the home + power button does not seem to work. is there a different way on this rom to take screenshots? or need another app?
also is there a way to remove homescreens? by default it has 5 screens, can i disable one or more of it?
last question, how do i configure to set the USB connect on default as usb storage instead of media server?
UPDATE: seems like the battery percentage for 6.1 is released: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22790151&postcount=492

I really missed the days i can take a screenshot just with home + power buttons .Now i'm using a app to take screedshots(do a search in the market then you'll find many). Hope the CM9 team intergrate Screenshots in their work.
Are you using Trebuchet launcher ? If so you'll find the homescreed settings in Trebucher settings(press menu key in homescreen and select Trebucher settings) .
The media server is annoying to me too but now i'm trying to get used to it.Maybe you can try this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389375

thanks to your reply i now know about trebuchet. now that helps me to reduce those unused homescreens. but some of the options does not work such as Dock and Icons. Ill have to start googling about this anyways...
but yeah i hope spike will add the screenshot. i dont want an app for that. better to intergrate it with the rom i think.
SPIKE, if you see this, i sincerely thank you for this awesome ROM. you have done great. I am loving every bit of it. thank you!
Guys,
I was reading the development thread, and now there is a 6.1 version. Somebody said that he updated from ROM 2.3.6 to Pure ICS 6.0...
I would like to be sure if this can really be done without having to install stock ROM first or something like that. I have stock ROM 2.3.5 with root, and I would like to know whether I can go straight to flashing Pure ICS 6.1 with Odin or not.
I am asking cause I have seen many different comments on approaches people have followed, and I want to know whether I can do this first or not.
Thanks!
The trebuchet is far from complete and still under development(pretty stable for a alpha release ,though). You can have a try at Nova launcher and see if it fits you.

I suggest you flash a sammy leak ICS ROM first , it won't take you so much time.

There should not be any issues. I flashed straight to 6.1 from a stock official release of 2.3.6. worked fine for me. did not have issues. just make sure to follow the steps provided carefully.

I just flashed Pure Special Edition straight from one of the KI or KJs, everything works ok (Great rom btw) but I noticed the colors are slightly off. Almost like overexposure?
The color looks slightly faded and runny in and is quite obvious in videos and games. Wonder what's the issue here? should I reflash?
Cheers
Check Display - Screen Mode to see what it is set as. It is in Settings. You can make or more punchy there.

Screen Mode was set to Standard, and setting it to anything else make it look worse... However, the screen did look slightly better once I turned off auto brightness and adjusted it manually. Totally forgot that ICS had a problem with this!
However, I noticed that stuff like font edges isn't as sharp as when I was running stock. I guess I'll flash stock ICS tonight to check what the problem is...
pure ics 5.0 vs 7.1 battery life.
Hello. Why is my battery life 100% better with Pure ICS v. 5.0 than 7.1? is there a way to make 7.1 as great (im my opinion) in terms of battery life as 5.0? of course 7.1 is fully functional and I would like to keep it.
Thanks.
Transparent lockscreen
Hi all,
Does anyone know if spike is planning to get rid of the samsung lockscreen?
It would be so much nicer to have the stock transparent lockscreen as on the galaxy nexus.
Hopefully it will come round with 7.3.
For those who want to install AOSP Calendar in Spike 7.2, maybe can try flash AOSP Package for Pure ICS v7.0
ICS call screen
I wanted to know if there are plans to incorporate the in call screen from ICS into this ROM? I switched from CM9 to Pure ICS and so far it's the only thing about CM9 that I prefer.
You can ignore my above post, apparently this is a future theme change. Looking forward to when it actually gets implemented.

[Q] change notification toggles

Hi,
I may be being really dense, but I can't find an option to remove/change the toggles in the notification area... I use some (like wifi, bluetooth, brightness), but have no need for ones like power saving, sync etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks!

I'm assuming you are on stock rom, if so you cant. Custom roms like Omega have 15 toggle mod you can add or remove whatever you like.

Yes I am currently on stock ROM - I used CM9 nightlies for ages on my S2 but didn't like them as much as the S3 stock. Maybe I'll try Omega (have recently installed the kitchen part of it anyway)
Would you say Megga is better than CM in your opinion?
It's impossible to say if a rom is better or not. I've been using AOKP roms on my galaxy S II but I can now say I like original Samsung roms more on the S III, I even use touchwiz which would've been unthinkable on the S II. I'm on Omega Rom. It's basically stock but with upgrades. Been using other roms for a few hours too because Im a flashaholic but keep Nandroid-ing back to Omega. First time Samsung did a great job on interface IMO
Well that sounds good, I'll give it a go later, thanks
Out of interest, does Omega have the ability to cancel an app by long-press of the back key? That's something I miss from CM9...

No, it doesn't but as you probably know, long press home and press Task Manager let's you kill tasks.
I liked the idea of long press back key, but was never happy with the execution - I was constantly killing apps that I didn't want to by tapping back too quickly. Clearly CM wasn't checking that you were holding back, but rather that it was pressed at the start and end of a certain time period.

Thanks for the reply... I actually used it a lot with CM9 and found it very useful, but not the end of the world to not have it!

I've Rooted my HTC One - Now what?

I've successfully unlocked my bootloader, flashed recovery and rooted my One using Superuser. It was pretty difficult and confusing to be honest. I got Titanium Back-up and froze all those stupid bloatware apps.
Now what can I do? I see there are two pretty good roms over here in the forums, but I'm not sure if I should grab one of those or wait for other better ones? Is there a "best" rom? Anything else I can do while waiting?

My advice? Take some time and just enjoy the phone. Its too soon for there to be
much going on in terms of ROMs and MODs. But they will come...
I generally get rid of the stock ROM on a new phone as soon as possible...but I have been
impressed with Sense 5 so far...gonna rock it for a while I think.
Check out the TrickDroid rom in the international HTC One forum. I've got that on my AT&T One, and it's amazing.

One app I consider a must have for rooted devices is adblock plus. Get it and enjoy a faster, cleaner, and less data intensive internet experience. Just be aware that it's no longer part of the play store, and you'll have to sideload it.

I've rooted devices before, but never installed a custom rom. Might be fun to give it a try.
However, just to make sure I won't do anything wrong...I replaced my recovery with TWRP when I first rooted.
I'm thinking I add the .zip rom to my root directory, make a backup with TWRP, backup my apps with titanium backup, then just flash the rom and restore my apps? Is it that simple?
Also, should I wipe the dalvik in addition to the regular data?

Actually the list of improvements and added features in TrickDroid (and several other 1.29 based International ROMs) compared to the stock ROM is quite large, which very easily justifies the reason for bootloader unlocking/rooting your phone. Some of these improvements/mods are available over here in the AT&T dev section, and some are only available in International based ROMs (for now anyway)
Newer firmware than the AT&T base (1.29 compared to 1.26)
Supposedly the camera software in 1.29 is considerably better with things like improved processing for pictures; I haven't verified this for myself
That stupid permanent power saving toggle in the notification pulldown menu has been removed (replaced by a much nicer and smaller status bar toggle button)
The only-useful-maybe-one-time-but-is-always-there IME icon that pops up in the task bar (when the keyboard is being used) has been removed
For people that use Sense as their launcher, there are options to change the icon grid in the drawer to 4x5 / 5x6 instead of the screen wasting 3x4 default
There are very nice looking scrollable color toggle buttons in the pulldown menu for the normal things like wifi, bluetooth, GPS, flashlight, switching between silent mode & normal mode, etc. The toggles can be long-pressed to go directly into the options related to the function of that toggle
The stock messaging app has more options (custom background, colors for the conversation bubbles)
HTC has lowered the overall "boomsound" volume in 1.29 a bit, presumably to correct the popping sounds that people have experienced on earlier firmware builds including the AT&T 1.26 build. In my opinion, even with this lower volume, the phone is plenty loud and the speakers are still louder than my Galaxy S3. There are still ways to increase your volume back up again if you really need it (for example, the faux123 kernel has "faux sound" that can pump up the volume, among other audio tweaks)
There is a brightness mod available to lower the really high default automatic brightness settings a bit, to increase battery life
There is a mod available to temporarily turn on the display when an SMS message is received if the phone's display is off
There is a mod available to wake up the phone with the volume buttons (in addition to the power button of course)
There is a no-pin Exchange mod available for the stock email client that overrides the need for a pin # when connected to a corporate Exchange email system that requires phone security
There is a stock-based kernel available as a choice during the installation that maps the HTC logo as a menu key. Actually I think it really just maps a touch point on the display immediately above the HTC logo, but it is very close to the logo and actually works.
There is a mod available to remove the stupid 3-dot button in apps that still use a menu key. Obviously you would only want to use this mod when you've got something mapped as a menu button (either the back key long-press option or the HTC logo mapping mentioned previously)

Thanks for you post. My HTC One is on its way, and this is the ROM I plan to flash. Can you please elaborate on this last part?
Are you saying that there is a place on the settings menu to select a custom mapping for the menu button? and THEN you flash the mod? Doesn't that sound backwards? Wouldn't one flash the mod which would give you the option of a custom menu button mapping somewhere in the settings menu?
just be patience
it's take times to build a better rom for new device.maybe 3-4month.we can get perfect rom

NEW TO ANDROID! Looking for specific ROM.

Hello all,
As the title states, I'm completely new to Android. I've been with the iPhone for quite some time and have recently changed over to the HTC One. Everything is awesome so far, but there are a few annoying quirks I'd like to change to make it perfect. I've done a bit of research, but I guess my searching terms were a bit too specific? I'm looking for a custom ROM that is based on Sense 5 with 4.2.2 and WiFi calling so I can have the option to keep Blinkfeed, Zoe, TV apps and the ability to delete some of the preinstalled programs like Facebook and Twitter. In addition, I'd like to have the option to give the HTC logo wake device functionality. I believe this is done through installing the tbalden kernel? I'm looking at the Trickdroid ROM, as it seems that might be the closest thing to what I'm looking for, but in a video review I watched of it it seemed there was only a wake from volume rocker option. Also, it seems Wifi calling is unavailable at the moment? In any case, if there is something out there that you guys can suggest I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!

I can at least verify a lack of WiFi calling on all 4.2.2 ROMs. We will have to wait for the official T-Mobile ROM to drop or leak to get that functionality.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
So once the 4.2.2 update comes out for T-Mobile HTC One's, we'll be able to have wifi calling capability with any 4.2.2 ROM ie. Trickdroid? Also, just a quick side question, I'm looking at the Trickdroid page and it says there is an option for the tbalden kernel, which is where the htclogo2wake functionality lies. Does this mean while installing Trickdroid, I'll have the option to install that instead of the stock kernel and have the options to map my HTC logo? Thanks!

To answer your first question, as long as the setup of WiFi calling is the same way as 4.1.2, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Awesome! Thanks, you've been very helpful! You wouldn't happen to have any experience with Trickdroid would u? haha
Trickdroid is great! I've been using it for quite some time and no issues. I use my cell as my work phone so reliability is big for me - and no problems... I haven't played too much with any of the kernels for the one but you will need to flash it separately. Welcome to Android!

That's good to hear! And thanks for the welcome! I see on the Trickdroid page that the tbalden kernel is an option. Does that mean it's already built into the ROM and that I'll have the option to remap the HTC logo or is there something I have to do along the lines of choosing it during the ROM install? Thanks!

If I remember correctly, Trickdroid uses Aroma installer, which takes you through an install wizard (prone to freezing so don't worry if it freezes, just reboot and retry) and let's you select a bunch of different options, not sure if Kernel selection is included in that or not.
Thanks for the info. I just wanna get all the info I can before attempting my first custom ROM install. That kernel is pretty much the biggest thing I'm looking for, this power button at the top thing is getting a bit annoying.. lol Also, I have an unrelated question that I'm hoping maybe someone here could answer. I couldn't find anything through searching the forums. Are the sound profiles on our phones customizable? Every time I change profiles, I have to change the settings manually. For example, I want the vibrate profile to quiet all sound and just vibrate for everything. However, when I go back to normal and switch back to vibrate, the sound for notifications and alarms are back on. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of profiles??
No 4.2.2 based rom supports wifi calling so far. If you want a customized rom, try viper. You will addict to it.

So if I installed a 4.2.2 ROM now, would wifi calling be enabled when T-Mobile releases its official update automatically? Or will I have reinstall the ROM?

no. you will have to wait for the update for the rom your on for wifi calling. as far as roms go viper has the most customization by far and arhd is the closest to stock but i recommend viper as you can keep it stock looking or if you want to customize to your hearts content and i mean everything is customizable. and venom hub has the kernels that enable logo2wake and many other options available. happy flashing bro:highfive:
Ok, Thanks! I'll definitely take a look at Viper then. Also, are you saying that it has the tbalden kernel already built into it? As in I don't have to do anything separate in order to use logo2wake?

no. in the venom hub which is an app for viper rom it has all the compatible kernels and when you select it. it will download it and boot to recovery and flash it(twrp only cwm manual flash only)
cool, I'll definitely look into viper. So you're saying that it's based off of the sense UI and looks stock until you start customizing? Because that is exactly what I'm looking for. I want to have pretty much everything stock with the exception of the battery icon in the status bar, logo2wake and some other little things here and there. Also, is there an option to wake the screen when you get a text or notification without having to use a third party app? Seems like such a no-brainer for this to be a part of the phone stock, but for some reason is not.

My favorite Rom is the Google Edition Rom.
I wanted some AOSP but every rom i tried had terrible battery life (like 1% dropping every 3 minutes) with just using web browser. I tried ARHD GE, CyanogenMod, AHRD Sense version, faux kernel, aux kernel and elemental kernel and everything was kind of the same. Now im using Sense based Insertcoin ROM and i must say that battery life is way better and got rid of most of bloatware
