i think i already have spl on my phone if so can i just flash the rom.if i flash a new radio will i get better reception,my phone wont work in the house

Flashing and SPL
If you have an unlocked Fuze, it does not mean that you have installed the hard Spl. Unlocked means that you are able to use your phone on any network, and you have the ability to flash non-raphael radios to your device. If you would like to flash a 6.5 rom to your Fuze, you need to flash the hard spl first, choose a rom, and flash your chosen rom. As far as signal goes, some roms work well with certain radios. Read the forums for the rom that you choose and see what kind of radio the chef recommends. Another thing that I can recommend is to go to the HTC website and take a look at the official update for the Fuze. This is a rom and a radio package that in my experience made my phone work much better than before. The update to the radio boosted my signal, and it unlocked the gps to work with any program since a stock Fuze gps works only with the At&t navigation program. All in all, the best advice I can give you is read up on the xda forums. The contributors on this forum are amazing and have put countless hours into turning our stock (crappy) Raphaels into real i-phone killers.

when its on blue, green, red boot screen it says spl 1.90. olinix

if you've flashed hard-spl, then you are ready to flash a rom.
yes, changing your radio could possibly result in improved reception. radios have different results for everyone and depends largely on where you live.
deadcpu already gave you the thread that has all the information you need. read it.

Well if you have already purchased the IMEI-check unlocker I wouldnt worry about it. You can swap as many times as you'd like with that.
Each ROM has its quirks here and there. There is no perfect ROM. I recommend just try a few out. I have had mine nearly a week and have tried almost all the WWE ROMS. I just changed from the 1.34 Cingular to the HTC. I can see a speed difference in a good way towards the HTC.
It's your world, choose your ROM.

So in your weeks of testing ROMs, which would YOU prefer/recommend?
I too am in the same problem in that there are lots of threads with wows and boo's , but there is no true comparison thread in what it does, does not do, what it has, has not, what stability it has, has not etc etc
With the K-jam, it was clear what ROMs were recommended but here, most are just going in circles askingQ's rather than reviewing roms.
I use the I-mate one after unlocking the M3100 and removing the orange one. While it is good, I am yet to hear what the other ones are like. I would test as you said but with lackof time etc, it is difficult... whichis where you guys come in
I want a stable working phone, andwhat I dont want is to upgrade to a rom (or keep the Imate) get it all up and running and then tomorrow, a much better rom comes out :->
This is in no way putting anyone down, I do appreciate like most of us do, that most of you guys really go out of your way to test/come back to us about how things went.
What would be nice is a definative answer from testers on how the roms were... and maybe a comparison thread too.
Thanks
Well its actually less than a week of testing. I didnt like the graphics in the iMates (mainly the boot up graphics). I also had the problem of the iMAte ROM freezing after installing MMS Composed which I need here in Japan. The Cingular ROMS have great graphics but cant unlock the ExtROM. The Dopod was the first I tried out and it looked great as I remember but I couldnt get it to connect to the internet here in Japan. The HTC seems to be my favorite now cause I dont see alot of extra certain network only apps that I dont need. It also seems to boot faster for me.
With all that being said, I am in Japan and you are not so my perception will be different than yours about which ROM is "the best." I would just say try one of each of the flavors of ROMS.This probably wont help much but I think you'll be happier if you try multiple ROMS out and pick for yourself.
Good Luck
Trying to choose little big problem.....!

Cingular ROM downgrade error
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a Vodafone PDA1605 (HERM200) I've updated the ROM with new Cingular version available on this site (1.34.502, bootloader 1.06), now I need to downgrade to older version with same CID (1.30.502, bootloader 1.04) but I receive an ERROR "Wrong Vendor ID" every time i retry to flash the ROM (following the procedure... restarting the update without disconnecting the PDA).
I've also tryed to put other ROM with bootloader 1.06 (new Vodafone FRA... i will upload when tested) but I receive the Error: "Wrong Model.."
Could someone help me?

Avoiding overwriting hard-SPL (and a couple of radio questions)

I've spent the last few days reading wikis, guides and threads about upgrading my Tytn, but I still have a few questions:
This guide describes a method for preventing hard-SPL from being overwritten with another bootloader. If I understand it correctly, this is only a problem with original shipped ROMs, and not with the ROMs cooked by the people here. Is this correct? Can I upgrade with any of the custom ROMs here without worrying about overwriting the bootloader?
Are the radio ROMs country or region specific or can I use any radio ROM from all over the planet?
Can I run into any problems if I try to downgrade the radio ROM? If I remember correctly, there was a a lot of trouble with this in the old days when I played around with the ROMs on my Wallaby (and I still had the future ahead of me).
Olipro wrote HardSPL so that it wouldnt allow itself to be overwritten, as far as i know you can overwrite HardSPL by using SSPL (the software bootloader which runs in RAM and not from the devices flash memory area as a normal bootloader does).
Dont worry.... upgrade to HardSPL v2.10 and then you can flash any ROM you like. Some carrier RUUs wont recognise the newer SPL so might not be happy with it. Depends on what ROM you wish to use.
Radio ROMs are pretty much universal however the best ones generally acknowledged are 1.47 or 1.48 (any variant)....as newer ones are unstable and seem to use the battery alot more.
Thanks for a quick and informative reply, mrvanx. And for the brilliant guides!
However, your answer left me with a couple of other questions.

If Hard-SPL cannot be overwritten, is there ever a need for the method I linked to in my previous post? Also - I thought one of the benefits with Hard-SPL was that it can be removed (and the original BL brought back to life) by flashing an official ROM.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that if I really want to overwrite Hard-SPL, I can do so using the SSPL, but upgrading with custom ROMs having SSPL bundled with them won't mess up Hard-SPL?
Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I'm a bit afraid of bricking the Tytn I'm currently borrowing from a friend
Update to HardSPL....safe in the knowledge that you CAN revert it back to stock if you wish, the details arent necessary dude. Go for it....its the best thing to do even if you dont change the ROM since the latest radios take advantage of the faster radio flashing technique in later SPLs.
You DRAMATICALLY reduce the risk of bricking the device by flashing HardSPL first.
Were you planning on using any particular flavour of ROM?
I have a thing for details, but I'll take your word and flash the Hard-SPL

Currently I have WM5, so any WM6 would probably be an improvement. I'm hoping to be able to play around a bit with different ROMs as soon as I feel pretty safe about bricking. Some of the light ROMs look very attractive, especially these ones: K's Rom v1.30a Lite, Schap's WM6 Pro 4.30 ROM and Shamanix`s Grass v2.2.
I would also like to try the full version of both Schap's and kin0kin's. Especially the last one because of the auto installation feature.
But I haven't looked closely at all the different ROMs yet, so there might be others that suits my needs better. My only prerequisite is .NET Compact Framework 3.5. If you have a favourite, let me know

Pandora Naked 6, by far the fastest and is also very stable.
You can cook your own ROM....follow the instructions in the pandora kitchen thread...its REALLY easy.

How do I change the radio version?

I am trying to get TNT .20273 working on my G4, but my radio version is 2.30.11 and I heard this is why its not working correctly. I downloaded the T-Mobile 2.19.11, but I have Cingular...will this make a difference? Do I flash this like any other ROM? Do I need to flash this before or after I flash a new ROM?
Radio Rom is independent of any Rom/OS,it can be flashed to any device version or Rom/OS working on the phone,it has its own protocols (GSM) and doesn't include any IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) so it can easily and safely be flashed to any wizard device.
Secondly,as you have a G4 device and its CID locked,it can not be upgraded to any wm6 rom like TNT,unless you either upgrade through SoftSPL or HardSPL.
Thirdly, where have you heard, since you have radio version is 2.30.11 and its cause for not getting the phone upgraded to TNT Rom ? As I said above,Radio Rom has got nothing to do with ROM/OS.Yes! you can flash Radio Rom 2.19.11,it doesn't matter if you have a Cingular.
Wm6 Roms like TNT will certainly flash regardless of which version of Radio Rom you have at the present
Hi guys,
This forums are just great!
Is there any "recommended" radio version? I've heard there are some old ones but I just wonder if upgrading it would really make any difference about the phone's reception.
I've noticed there are now two ways to flash new ROMs, hard and soft SLP, which one is best? My phone is already SIM unlocked but I want to load Slim Diamond WM 6.1.
Thanks in advance for your comments and help.
Well I got TNT .20273 "working", but I was always getting missed calls and texts and whenever I would soft reset I would get like 10 cannot load blah blah file and I read somewere it was because the radio version I had. Plus I heard 2.19.11 was the best with no dropped calls and such.

First determine which version is your phone,G3 or G4,its very important, coz method for flashing a rom is altogether different for both the devices.
HardSPL and SoftSPL are solely meant to flash a G4 device and shud not be done for a G3 phone, likewise CID unlocking method for a G3 phone, through lokiwiz02b or WST_4.2.2 Tool, shud not be carried out on a G4 device.
You need to do alot of reading to understand all these methods,So..... get going!!! or else you might end up 'Bricking" your phone

ok so you said that. i'd like to say, i have a g3 with radio 02.25.11 and i'm fixin to use a multitude of different roms i've found here .. some with touch flow, others are this and that. but none of them say anything about radio roms or compatibility or dropped call count. so my question to you is, will this radio rom i have make a difference? am i going to have to change radio roms or no?
This is the G4 subforum
Radio 2.19.11 is recommended.
Thanks a lot zabardast_1!
I did the reading and the upgrade. Evertyhing went great and my wizard is now running WM 6.1 and working great.
I do have a follow up question though. I noticed there are different ROMs and the today screen looks different (the way the clock is shown, the icons available, etc).
Is there any way to change the way things look without changing the ROM?
Thanks again!

[Q] Clarification on flashing please !

I am attempting my first ever flash.
However, I am going to flash a cooked rom which is not compatible with my current radio. My first question is, do i have to flash the new radio first, and then the cooked rom, the other way around, or does the order not matter ?
Also, when i tried to flash the radio with cutomruu, when it confirmed what version to what version, it gave me my current roms version, and asked me if i wanted to update to the new radio version? shouldnt it give me old/new radio version?
can someone please help i really wanna get this done as soon as possible.
Thanks !
You need hspl first before you do anything . Then flash the radio , make sure it's a .50 never a .51 . After that do the rom . Most chefs (the people that make the roms) will recommend certain radios as they have tested the roms with these but really as long as it's a .50 radio it's really down to which one works best for you .
There are guides on flashing Roms at the top of the rom development page read it all carefully and you won't go wrong .
Hello, and Wellcome to the Forum.
1. you need HardSPL
2. If you have an Radio with an 51 like 2.07.51.2 then you need an Radio with an 50 Like 2.07.50.2 on most Roms
3. Flash the Radio befor the Rom
4. After Radio Flash you can go on with the Rom Flash.
Here are some infos more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
All an top of the HD2 ROM Development you find the Sticky Post ther are more Infos.
Ghostrider
TO SLOW
If the new ROM is not compatible with the old radio, then definitely flash the new radio 1st.
The ROM installer is telling you the correct info. I would surmise it was designed for flashing ROMs, so it would always give you the current ROM version. However, the same software is used to flash radios.
Hope this helps. I viewed some Youtube videos before I flashed. There are some showing both a radio and ROM flash for the HD2.

[Q] How NOT to brick your HD2

Hey everyone.
I read it on the wiki that flashing 1024mb Leo with 512mb Rom would certainly cause a brick, I also read those scary posts about phones dead even with HSPL flashed, so I ask a question: Is there something else you should NOT do besides what is written in RUU itself?
Is it possible to make some kind of tutorial "how not to brick HD2"
P.S. Sorry if it is already stated somewhere, but all I could find were posts about already bricked HD2s
Might sound like a stupid question for all advanced users, but i find its a very good question, because of course, bricking anything (unless its a real brick) is a real bummer!
So yeah, i was also wanting to know what NOT to do, and what things to avoid..
For example, i installed HSPL 3 with a 2.02SPL, people say i will have stability issues.. i didnt read about that in HSPL3 tutorial.. will those stabilioty issues possibly lead to a brick?
Also, installing HSPL 3 and then installing HSPL 2 will those things possibly brick an HD2? or to brick an HD2 you must really be doing crazy stuff, like
-flashing 1024 with 512 rom?
-flashing crazy custom & terribly cooked roms?
best advice I ever saw on here......
"Read Everything, Even If You Dont Understand It....... Then Read It Again"
this does not change anything, I read the stickies and flashing guides and still i could only find one definite how-to-brick: 1024 to 512 and vice versa
Anyone?
That was more of just a sort of general piece of advice.
Wasnt suggesting you need to do more reading...........
Its actually the radio that will brick the device.......
flashing a .51 radio to a tmous will brick it.
So .50 radios only. You'd probably be best to go for one above 2.08.50......
Most roms will reccomend a radio to use anyway.......
If you've read the stickys, got the right rom/radio/hspl and familiarised yourself with the process then theres not much that can go wrong.........
95% of the horror stories on here are down to people not doing their homework....
I dont understand this radio thingy... Why is it even changeable?
Who would want to tweak that (except cookers?) and why did they provide different radios?
How do i know, when i download a rom what radio is it? If i use always official roms, i have no risks, right? Can even stock roms have different radios?
Thx for answers!
Radio is a part of firmware (part of ROM if you please) that ensures the link between OS and radio (GSM, FM, BT, WIFI),I read somewhere that it somehow responsible for camera aswell...

A different radio can give you differences in things like reception and battery life....

Custom roms usually do not come bundled with a radio. The chef nearly always recommends a radio to use with the rom.....
Stock roms come with a radio, which is normally shown as part of the file name....
ie. RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
If your flashing a tmous with a stock rom you still have to make sure that it is a tmous rom........
Wow, thanks for those clear answers! Im starting to get it!
So.. say i download several roms:
ROM: 3.14.406.2 (on HTC website)
AND
RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0ΒΆ
7U_2.06.51.07_Ship (found on internet)
AND
Original HTC NLD 1.48.404.2 2.05.51.05_2 15.28.50.07U
How do i know the radio of the first rom?
And how do i know that the Radios of the 2 other roms ( Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_ and the last RADIO 2.05.51.05_2) are compatible? Indeed, they are different, so how do i know if i can install them without bricking my device???
Thanks again, guys for ur help and time
I didn't completely understand what you just wrote , but i somehow feel that answer to your post is what i'm looking for also
The 3.14 Rom you downloaded from the HTC site already has a radio so you wont need to worry about compatibility........
Just so I'm clear on this, which type of HD2 do you have? tmous / Standard (european) HD2 / Australian (Telstra) HD2.......
Im assuming it asked for an s/n number when you downloaded 3.14??
If it did and yours worked then you have an unbranded handset and you can go ahead and flash that Rom.
If you've flashed before you will need to remove HSPL.........
If not then ignore that...........
So in simple terms, ONLY the radio that contains .51 will brick a T-Mobile US HD2 phone, but .50 will be fine. Usually all [ROM] in the Rom thread will tell you if it's T-Mobile Compatible or not. And most of them don't have a radio built into it anyways.
Every Rom you download from HTC will contain the ROM, and RADIO, so before loading you must make sure it is for HTC T-Mobile US not UK, which is usually stated before you download as you have to put in your SN number before you're able to download.
If you are wondering more about what the function of a radio is etc. I recommend checking out this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Also I would highly recommend you read this as this will answer most of your questions about flashing roms etc: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
