Text / Font - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

any idea if X10 can set bigger fonts/text, especially on sms?

I think you can use LCD Density. You can find it in the Market, but you need root access.

[Q] Change system font size?

Just got a Dell Streak 5. Really like the 5 inch display. However the default system font size is too small, even smaller than my 4 inch Incredible S. The streak 5 is running the stock froyo 2.2 ROM. Is there a way to change the system font size? or any other custom ROM which supports bigger font display?
Thanks

Maybe you can try changing density?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.beansoft.lcd_density_changer&feature=search_result
Streak have default density 160, other WVGA phones have 200.
But you will need root and busybox for this...
Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874658
Using High-Logic FontCreator you can change the font size and then set it as a defoult
Try this fonts for example, feel the difference:
I rooted the streak using superoneclick. Then tried font changer, however I can't change the density. The app complains about a missing density parameter.
Luckly, lcd density changer works. The system density is 160 by default, then changed to 220. The phone looks much better now, even though some apps don't scale very well.

Click to collapse
Just be aware that the changed density will periodically hang the "phone.apk"

[Q] Change Pixel Density(PPI) Galaxy S2?

Hi, i have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which i would like to change the Pixel Density of. It is rooted currently, but I just want to be able to read texts clearer and play my games and watch videos more sharp and crisp.. i know there are afew apps on the android market which can do this, but if i want clear/sharpness which is the recommended pixel density(240 is the default).
Also, i need something that will work perfectly on Galaxy S2, like, not make the widgets or icons or anything out of proportion..i want things to auto fit
Get root access.
Edit the line where density is mentioned in build.prop in root directory, probably in /system. You can change from 240 to 320. But be very careful as you may mess up the things & will have to flash the rom again.
I used an app called LCD Density in the market. Paid app but you should be able to try it out in the time period. Before purchasing, make a nandroid backup as the app gives all these scary messages about not backing up before changing the density. The app doesn't do anything drastic and allows you to change relatively quickly.
I haven't used on my sgs s2 but did for s1. I used to use 220 or 230. Cannot guarantee it won't mess anything up. Also doing is subjective, I did not want too small as was squinting alot so test it out.

yeah i used lcd density and put it to 200 its wayyy too small but why is it that bigger ppi means worse quality?

LCD density for sk17i

what is the stock for value for mini pro screen density? and what happen if i change the value?can someone give me a better explaination to this??
I tried it, didn't like it, makes it look worse and unproportioned.
Default is first shown in the app, I think it is the same as my LWW, 160, although I am not sure.
Basically same thing as changing resolution in Windows. Bigger/smaller icons, more space.
Quite weird, I tried change it to higher value, and the icon and text becomes bigger.different from windows

How To Make Icons Smaller??

Does anyone know if there is anyway possible to make the Icons smaller on the Home Screen without rooting?
Thanks guys.
I want to do the same. the icons are big. I was trying to edit the build.prop with root explorer but it goes back to normal. I was trying to go from 320 DPI to 280 DPI but it won't change. may be it needs root to be able to work
With Nova Launcher the icon size & layout can be changed
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en
I use it on my Nexus 7 & S5
I believe you can use adb commands to change the phone DPI.
Use at own risk
Hi, get Elixier Widget!
Make screen dpi smaller ?
Any news on making the home screen dpi smaller ? A while ago there was a flashable zip for ZU. I really hope someone will make one for the Z3C too

System Font Size Bug 5.8.018S...

Found a rather annoying bug on the most recent EUI update. For Android devices, if you go into settings>display and change the system font size, it is supposed to change the font size in the settings menu, but it also is supposed to change the font sizes in other apps like gmail, chrome, amazon, etc. This does not work reliably. When I change the system font size to extra large and go into the gmail app for example, the font in gmail is WAY too small to read. If I leave the gmail app open and go back into settings and change the font size from extra large to large, and then back to extra large again, then go back into the gmail app and click on any email, the font size will magically be larger and readable. BUT, once I close the gmail app the font size setting reverts back to tiny. Every time I open gmail I have to go to display settings and toggle the font size to make the gmail font large enough to read. The same thing happens with chrome and amazon apps (as well as others I'm sure). I can duplicate this problem with other apps using the same method. When I do the toggle trick the font size increases temporarily, but as soon as I close the app and re-open it, the font size is lost and I have to do it all over again.
Using the Parasite S18+S19 modded ROM and not having this problem. When I change font to extra large, gmail font becomes large too. But personally, I find even the smallest font comfortably readable so I don't use the large font sizes. Guess that varies depending on one's eyesight.
Can anyone using 18S verify that they have the same problem? Considering doing a factory reset (I didn't after I updated) to see if that fixes the problem. I'd rather not if it's not going to work.
EDIT: Performed factory reset today and that did NOT fix the problem Seems to be a bug in the firmware. Annoying as **** because the font size on that quad hd screen is small as ****!
