Observation of Prices of X10 and X10 Mini - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Well, what the hell is going on? Why do these two phones depreciate SO quickly?
X10 was supposed to be one of the best super phones. Although the reality didn't quite turn out that way, the hardware is still very good. But less than £200 for an unused second hand one? That seems... really strange. It is (on paper) a far superior phone than Hero, yet the market says otherwise...
As for the X10 Mini, it is a very unique phone, which I am interested in acquiring one for the girlfriend as I think it is perfect for those light-smartphone-usage ladies, especially with the pink cover But it is less than £200 brand new! Have I missed something?
Either we (or just me) have been brainwashed by HTC/Apple/etc into thinking that smartphones cost a lot of money, or the market really doesn't like the SE X10 series phones.
Not that I am complaining about the price of course, seeing as I want to but yet to buy one. It is just really weird to see them depreciate even faster than Samsung phones.

X10 is still the 2nd best selling phone in the Uk right now, recently toppled by the iphone 4.

You should be happy it cost less now.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we start seeing higher second-hand prices now that it's been rooted. All of a sudden we have a powerful device on our hands.

Yea it's true, especially if 2.1 update is really on the card.
Even I myself am waiting for root and custom roms, before buying an X10 Mini.
I am quite happy with the prices right now, but would be even happier if the prices were lower

[Q] - what made you buy an X10

Well... just in a way out of curiosity - what made you think "This is what is missing in my life" of the X10?
For me it was a friend who showed it to me and I tried it - and almost immediately fell in love with it.
Actually this is the second best phone I have owned. The best is the Nokia 3210 - that phone could withstand some serious beatings and "falling-out-of-the-pocket-onto-the-asphalt"!
1. I'm 17
2. Need an upgrade from the LG Vu
3. The chick who sold it was hot
4. Phone looked sexy and was a MAJOR upgrade to a smartphone
I got conned into buying it by the rogers sales man, personally I would have liked to do some more research before buying the phone
I never had a smartphone before my X10. In the past I had feature phones from Nokia, Motorola, and then I had a Sony Ericsson Z525 which I liked.
When the Sony Ericsson X1 first came out, I was impressed. I wanted it, but it was not offered in the United States though one of the major wireless carriers here, so I just kept on using my Z525. When the X2 came along, I thought it was unimpressive so I didn't think about that one much.
I saw videos of the X10 around the time of its release and was impressed by the custom UI so that started up my interest in the XPERIA X-series again. Then as Android became more and more popular, I kept hoping that it would make it to the U.S.. When it finally did, I picked one up for $50.00 (U.S.D.) and have been happy with it.
It's a nice evolutionary kind of product for me. I used to use a PlayStation Portable for mobile gaming, listening to music, and videos. And I used a Sony NAV-U for navigation. Now my X10 is my main portable music player, it's great for watching videos, I have some casual games installed on it, the camera is okay when I'm without my usual digital point-and-shoots, and the free Google Maps/Navigation can't be beat. It's also great to have around for general Web stuff.
The only bummer about the phone is being tied to AT&T:
Who will never offer firmware upgrades to their Android 1.6 X10 customers
Who has no inexpensive unlimited data plan
I'm using the SE generic global 2.1 firmware right now which suits me fine, and I'm patiently waiting for the 2.3 upgrade. The phone may no longer be a high-end device, but it's still sleek looking, has good build quality, performs decently, and does what I need it to do.
1. Loved the design
2. I've been an Ericsson/Sony Ericsson Fanboy since the 90s.
3. I originally wanted a desire but that wasn't available on my network carrier.
4. I've wanted a smart phone. Could never afford UIQ phones (nearly bought an M600 once), never liked S60, WM or ios so Android on SE was a god send.
free and the camera
Its design, white color, and the "Sony" word..
1. Camera
2. Cheaper then the desire and sgs on craigslist when I bought it
Truth be told as soon as I'm eligible for a upgrade through rogers I'm selling my x10

Sony always works great for me. Since I bought my first Z500 almost 10 years ago.
i had a crappy galaxy i7500, needed a new high end smartphone, xperia x10 was a good choice, under circumstances had to get it used, it was the cheapest used high end smartphone i could get, at $200 for a pretty good condition, i'm pretty happy by my purchase

Hmmm ,
1. Design .
2. One of the phones with 1Ghz during that time
3. I want to be different from other people .
4"screen
1GHz Cpu
Android
My first smartphone, and I knowingly bought it when I knew it was at its end of the life cycle because it was relatively cheap (350 bucks without plan) and was fast and sexy, and I saw the support XDA had for this smartphone.
It was love at first sight.
I would have gone for the captivate for ATT but it was too expensive at the time. So i got the X10 instead. I am glad i did it in the long run cuz of the upcoming release of gingerbread and the camera. I personally love my X10.

My wife liked the x10 looks and i liked the specs and they were the best free upgrade available .
Wife still on rooted se bloatware. Me freex10 beta 4 among a few other awsome roms on backup

It never came to me that I need to buy anything larger than Sonyericsson T303, and never came to my mind to buy an x10 mini, but when I was looking for a new phone, I see a couple of good review about the x10 mini, so I bought one. after a month or two I find it hard to surf the web because of its size, and my Post paid plan contract is ending soon, so I aquire the plan with x8, which is like mini, only larger. I get used to it.
So I was thinking, X10 mini have decent camera, but small in size, X8 have larger display but lousy camera, so I trade it for X10. I was thinking of HTC Desire HD, but finding it too big. I was also eyeing for defy but x10 screen is larger.
So there, X10's journey to my life is not that easy nor complicated. I think this is what we call destiny.. hahahaha...
June last year i wanted one of 2 phones, desire or x10.
Was my first android phone so no research was done.... doh
I ended up getting x10 cus the desire looked so wide like a brick.
Now i wish i didnt upgrade on my exact due date, i should of waited till more phones were released.
However i still love my x10 but only thanks to xda community!

Could've got a SGS but my mom has one already, and it's not as good looking compared to the X10.

x10 mini "Buyers Remorse"

A week after I bought this phone the Xperia mini came out. It just broke my heart to see the newer phones specs! :'( 1Ghz +HD recording.
Anyone else feeling the same?
I bought this stupid crap phone in the beginning of 2011. Stupidest choice I've made so far.
I bought this crap 4 months ago and 2 weeks ago my earphone stopped working. I took it to a service point to be fixed and they told me that it must be replaced with a new one BUT my warranty was void as i was responsible for the problem!
I told them to just return the phone unrepaired and now the damn thing doesnt even turn on!!!
Crappy company, crappy phone, crappy technicians, to hell with all of them!
That was the last SE phone i bought!

I have to agree with EVERY WORD! Their customer service is **** and their phones are even worse. My next phone will be either an HTC or Samsung, but one thing is certain, my friend, NO MORE SONY ERICSSON! For ever and ever and ever.
Over the years, I have had two Sony Ericsson phones and I have been displeased with both of them.
I got my crap back in summer 2010(june-july) now i am looking for a proper android smartphone and definitely not from SE.
OMG the same here >.< i want that new mini its much cooler with 1Ghz,bravia engine,Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the new cool SE interface the old one sucks (1 widget per page >.<) and HD recording!
well, buying an x10 mini/mini pro in 2011 is, with no disrespect meant, stupid piece of an act!!!!...u should keep an eye on the market before buying this!!!!....for me, i always fancied the modding power of this cell and i find it 2 be kinda cute
but for every1, u should always have another "power" cell for daily (and satisfying) usage....am lucky enough to have an Incredible S as my "daily" cell....the mini is just for "fun"
but for 1 thing, i'll vouch word for word--SE Customer Service SUCKSSSS!!!!my headfone stopped working within 2 months of purchase and they said "I" did something wrong!!! ....and i don't know bout other places, but in India, dey don't even keep tab on it's development too....dey were like fish out of water seeing me use dual touch "pinch 2 zoom" (i didn't tell them dat it was "fake" ...didn't want 2 ruin their "alice in wonderland" expression )
x10 mini screen size is too small man :| if it had a 3 inch display it would be a perfect android!
Other than small screens and ear pieces can anyone elaborate on why this is crap?
I have one on its way to me now.
Also are the custom roms a big improvment over stock?
For me this phone combined with cm7 is the best android phone around.
Custom roms are a great improvement over stock. In fact I find the mini pro much easier to use than any phone with touch screen only and chugs along quite nicely for photos, music, web browsing and heaps of apps and games.
Not a piece of crap at all compared to similarly priced phones here in nz unless you choose to run stock.

Excellent phone,
First I bought it for my wife.
And then I bought another one for me.
It all depends of what is important for you.
It is small and robust, you can use it with one hand, and the camera is still one of the best in the market. The GPS fix is fast. The sound is excellent to play MP3. The speakers are quite good. The battery life is excellent using CM6.
I used to have bigger phone, bigger screen but frankly, if you don't spend you life sending SMS and webbrowsing on a phone, you should rather consider a smaller, handy phone. On top of that you have less chances to have your phone stolen.

You're right in what you say.
Shame this is my first post here,, But for all you fine folks complaining about it (the phone).. did you not read up on the phone specs before you bought it.. look at pictures of the the phone,,possibly hold it in you hand and turn it on look at the screen and say wow it's small ect.. well if you did and you still bought it, only to complain about it now.. Don't blame S.E as I seriously doubt that any of their sales reps where there twisting your arm.. Customer service is another story..
This phone is actually quite good for what it offers and more! It's just that 5 days after I got it the Xperia mini got launched. That was a punch in my face! XD
Wish we too could get HD recording(atleast 720p) sigh!
I only realise SE have crappy software after they announced that X10 mini pro isn't going to be updated to Gingerbread coz of non-portable code.
I also realise SE have the crappiest software after using CM7.
But then again, this phone's hardware combined with CM7 makes the best phone out of all I've ever had so far.
Cheers.
Have got a prerelease new mini pro, which seems to have all the bits that were missing from the x10 mini. We now have the HD 720 recording, bravia screen, exmor camera and all the other bells and whistles SE are sticking in things..its a bit of a chunker though, couple of mm thicker than the previous model.

[Q] Would you buy the Atrix 4G today?

Hi there. I know there are some threads about this but they are seriously outdated.
I have an Atrix that I bought in the summer off of eBay and I love it. I'm running CM7 Ba2tF and everything works great (I'm getting 3 days of battery with moderate use). Thing is: my girlfriend loves it too, she has an old Nokia and has been thinking about upgrading for a while, so I was thinking about getting her an Atrix for Christmas.
There are some pretty affordable Atrixes on eBay now, but my question is: is it worth it to buy one now?
My girlfriend doesn't need the latest hardware, but it would be nice to have a decent phone (which the Atrix certainly is). She also doesn't need the latest software, but the Atrix seems more than capable to run ICS (either officially or not).
So do you think there are other phones for about the same price on eBay (200-250 €/270-340$) that would be a better deal than the Atrix?
Edit: I forgot to mention that we live in Portugal, and don't have a lot of money, that's the reason for wanting to buy an affordable (possibly used) phone on eBay. It obviously can't have a contract and must be SIM unlocked/easily unlockable.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask. And I apologize for my poor english.
I like it a lot, I think its great. Especially now that Lapdocks are cheap.
Honestly, I'd probably be looking at getting the next great thing if I were buying now. I love my Atrix, but it's already old news imo. There's bigger and badder coming out.
ATRIX is one great phone that brought Motorola from its grave however there are better phones out there now and if u wanna wait, there will be even more.

I agree, but the reason i asked this is because we don't have a lot of money, and we don't live in the USA, so we can't buy new phones for a couple hundred bucks (I should have probably mentioned that). We are looking for an affordable phone, that's also a bit future proof, even if it is not the most recent device out there.

If I were strapped for cash I would get one if I could get a good deal. It's a great phone. I'm just a technoholic, so I'm looking for my next one right now. With 5 phones on our plan, I get 5 times the chance for a nice upgrade!
Yeah you can be waiting for years for the next best thing to come out and never get one because there is another one on its way about to come out also...
I think atrix is a great phone, I had it since the week they came out and still love it. I say get it, it's an awsome phone for the price and the specs that it has.
Although I'm running a different rom on it, I think the stock version runs great too for anyone getting into androids or smartphones.
I came here looking for a thread just like this. Funny how it works out. Thanks
ATT is running a deal to get an Atrix 4g for a penny with contract extension. Being cash strapped and wanting an android device that doesn't suck to replace my old Curve just became an option.
Also consider replacement costs if you don't have insurance. Depending on where you live I am guessing this could be more or less expensive. If you don't have phone insurance through a carrier, you can always ask about adding the phone to your home or renters insurance.
I'd say get it!
The Atrix 4G is anything but an old and budget smartphone.
It still has great specs and even better than some of the latest and greatest.
Just for fun let's compare it to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Atrix has many features the Nexus don't have, like huge battery, hdmi out, webtop, lots of accesories to choose from, a screen that will outlast that on the Nexus due to image burn-in problem on AMOLEDs, ICS capable, memory expansion through micro-sd, fingerprint scanner that really works great, and best of all, CHEAPER!
P.S.- I'm not saying that SGN is not a great phone, but on feature/cost ratio the Atrix blows it out of the water.
I had thought of that, but what about the galaxy s (not the s2)? It is slightly cheaper on ebay, probably because more were sold, and it doesn't have the flash or hdmi out or dual core processor, but it's still a pretty capable phone.
I know there are more than a few posts comparing these two devices out there, and I've seen some of those, but TODAY, would any of you opt for the galaxy S, that is about 40€ cheaper, instead of the Atrix? I am just looking for personal opinions.
Keep in mind that I own an Atrix, and I did a lot of research before buying it, including comparing it with the galaxy S. The point is, the galaxy S was a lot more expensive when i bought my Atrix, and I don't know if i would still buy it, if the prices were as they are today (although I probably would and will again ).

Well the problem I see by purchasing any type of used AMOLED based smartphones is that the buyer runs the risk of getting a device with a burned-in screen.
For those not familiar with this "burn-in" term here's a brief explanation:
AMOLED based screens (even new ones like Super AMOLED +) use organic leds that produce it's own light, so there is no need of an electroluminicent backlight like that on normal LCDs, colors are brilliant (oversaturated to some) but the downside to this new technology is that unfortunately blue leds tend to degrade faster than the other colors, so after just a few months of use (according to reports all around xda and other sites) the user start to see ghosting or burn-in effects on screen, specially visible on whites.
That's one of the primary reasons why we got a change of color scheme starting on Android 2.2 Froyo like dark top task bars where static icons and information tend to burn-in quicker.
So, in conclussion, I would avoid purchasing any AMOLED based smartphone without looking at it first IN PERSON!.
How to check?
Simply hold the device and pump the brightness all the way to the max settings and then have a blank WHITE screen (i.e. maximized or zoomed in blank white web page) and look for ghost images specially where the top bar sits, or even squared and ghostly icons where the program icons used to sit).
There are lots of videos and pictures all over to see what to look for.
Cheers!
Rayan
Definitely get an atrix over galaxy S. Much more powerful phone. The price on galaxy S is artificially high due to demand for replacements from a lot of people that bought them. See that a lot on the used market with the mass consumer market phones just like old iphones.

Forget the old Galaxy...I had one and it was crap. Slow, not enough memory, laggy, Froyo.
I read all the android news every day looking for my next phone. So far the only one that is tempting me is the Motorola Dinara, or XT928 coming to AT&T soon. It is a 4.5 inch screen and true HD 1280 x 960. The ones being delivered to AT&T will have removeable batteries, 1.2 GH dual core, and I like the design. Price will be a factor so I won't be able to actually purchase it till 6 months down the road. Whatever the case the longer you wait the more powerful phone you will get, its just the was it goes.
I think the ATRIX 2 with a fingerprint scanner would be a fantastic device for the $100 asking price. Recently played with one, I liked it.
I was in the same position of yours couple of weeks ago. My budget was around $300-350. I couldn't find any phone better than Atrix 4G on this budget! Man its one of the greatest phone still now in the market & it has the lower price of them all. Its the great phone with a great price! If I had money I'd buy another atrix!
16 GB internal, 1910mAh battery, 1Ghz processor. How many phones out there beats that?

Yes, I would but the Atrix again today. I am not the "chase the hottest thing today" kind of guy.
Atrix has very good specs in dual core CPU and 1 gig of ram. Remember that most phones are still single core.
I will listen to upgrade arguments when there will be a single app that requires more raw hardware power than what Atrix provides.
I would happily purchase the Atrix again today, it's the best phone I've ever had. Ill be waiting for a good quad core phone before I replace mine.

Anyone Bought/Thinking New Mini?

Hi all,
Have any of you bought the 2011 Mini or are thinking about it? The price has really dropped where I'm living, I can get it on Pay as you go for 130Euro.
I know for those of us who bought the 2010 Mini got screwed over with updates etc. The bottom line is I have the phone about a year and a half and I'd like to get a new one soon. I don't want or need a giant phone that's very expensive.
The 2011 Mini (I haven't heard of any Minis for 2012) has a 1Ghz CPU and 512 ROM and I think 512 RAM, that's great for a 3 inch screen. That's a lot of power for a small-ish screen. It's also future-proof, isn't it? Those specs will last some time. Would I be right in saying it's bigger 3 inch screen is MDPI, instead of our current LDPI? There would be much, much more compatibility for wallpapers and lockscreens etc.
I like the other stuff like better camera features and specs (HD)
Bad points are no front camera and even a bigger 3 inch screen is not great for internet or wifi, but it might be ok. I also think (I could be wrong, tell me if so) that support on here is not so great for it so modding would be harder.
Any thoughts?

my advice wait for 2012 mini's
there iz some rumor going on in gsmarena about some sony dualcore phones which look like a mini ver of xperia s;
I looked for info on that and couldn't find anything. I did find that list of SE's 2012 roadmap I can't see a phone before August that could match a price I'd expect for that.

I think better u wait for the sony 2012 phones out..maybe got new model will replaced xperia mini..or u can get xperia mini at cheaper price
Hi buddy, check out the list of Sony phones for 2012.
I cannot read anything about a new Mini...and I thought I read someone from Sony saying the trend of small phones is nearly over...
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/01/18/sonys-2012-smartphone-roadmap-leaks-out/
I had x10 Mini and now Xperia Mini. The Mini is fast enough and will receive Android 4.
2011 over 2010 has bigger display, better screen resolution ,processor ,RAM, internal storage, latest android, wireless N, Wi-fi tethering, HD camera (not great quality), better battery capacity. It has everything except front camera and hdmi output and is fast.
The biggest worst thing compared to older X10 mini is the speaker witch is not so great sound quality, and auto brightness/light sensor sometimes it makes screen brightness go like disco lights. (I disabled light sensor on rooted phone)
The mini series should remain at maximum 3.2'" screen. The rumored Mini 2 (3) was St25 but that 2012 model has 3.5 display and is way ugly and bigger for my tastes.(smaller xperia S )
Now that's a pretty useful reply!
Thank you!
Yes, I have inspected the specs and reviews...I always do that before a new phone purchase and I'm very interested in the specs of that new edition. I cannot find anything on the 2012 Mini...I don't know what you guys google search but I only find the older Minis...
My bro got the X8 and I didn't realise it was 'only' 3 inches in screen, which is the same as the 2011 Mini. It's actually pretty good...you really benefit from that extra space, but SE makes it small and light enough and still pretty. The phone networks over here subsidised the Mini a lot...it's €129 Euro now...how can I say no?
All the specs you mentioned interest me, I'm sure I'd appreciate them. What I most like is the definite upgrade to 4.0. I've tried the beta version of the two 4.0 roms here and the audio is SUPERB in 4.0 and the devs say the graphic performance for games is way better than Ginger. Whether by official upgrade or modded roms for you Mini...wait for the superb sound! Also, the 2011 Mini is relatively 'future proof' in my view...those specs will last a while...especially for a budget phone, a screen that small with good power behind it and ICS has slightly less requirements than Ginger but with better performance (like Vista and Windows 7)
i want to add that the new mini pro has front camera, mini hasnt. check it
Sent from my E10i using xda premium
Aaaah I didn't know that...hmm.
I have to admit I never liked/needed the fold out keypad on the PRO though. I think I'll compare the spec sheet of both models just to see is there anything else...
Im waiting for the new Sony phones that are gonna be released this year. whats the point of buying the (going to be) obsolete models (SE) and suffer after buying?
It's better to wait for the new ones to arrive with the Sony badge on them.
Im gonna get 'em!
Well the 2011 models have excellent specs - they will not go out of date tomorrow, like the 2010 models. At this time, the 2011 models also have their maximum (or near) subsidy - the networks are paying most of the price, we simply pay a smaller portion.
When the new 2012 models come out, you will pay a much higher price because they're new. I would be shocked if they upgraded the specs of these 'budget phones' to 1.5ghz...if they do upgrade the specs, you will be paying for them...they can't be that high and you pay a cheap price. The Mini is €129 where I am...you will not get the next phone for anywhere near that for months...
It also depends on your money supply, if someone has unlimited money, then cost won't matter...

Yeah, you are right. but im not looking for the high end or something.... but look at it this way, the most battery drainers are the small devices by SE. that is the reason i am now fed up of my mimmi phone too. after a long conversation over gsm network it goes down rapidly. i sometimes wonder if i could go back to my trusty W705 phone by SE. it was very good to use.
Since i am like addicted to android, im thinking of the newer ones that are gonna come. that is the reason i mentioned i have to go for the Sony phones. will be later in the end of this year i might get one i suppose.
Thanks!
I should update and say I finally bought the new Mini yesterday!
It has been dropped in price again...I paid €99 for it! Wow! I paid €250 for the 2010 Mini...The ARC is on sale now for €250 PREPAY....I couldn't believe my eyes...
I'm pleased to say that I love the phone. I was afraid that the differences might be so small that I think it was wasted money. For such a cheap price, nope and wow things like the screen are amazing. When I look at my old Mini there is really a huge difference...I can almost see the blocky pixels bouncing off the screen on the older one...kind of ugly now! The UI is quite slick and SE phones like Apple devices 'just work' in my opinion, everything is properly connected and works.
P.s. if any of you are big into music/video/podcasts on your Xperia, try Media Go or Songbird. I've tried both before and they're both excellent.
I really think, now, buying a device with one core processor, less than 1.2-1.4GHz is not a good idea. The new mini's specs are still average [they were impressive when they were launched] and in comparison they will only deplete with quadcores just around the corner.
The best thing to do now, for all of us, would be to wait for about a mounth till Sony finally reveals the 3rd gen minis, or still wait and buy an affordable dual core.
Prices will eventually come down, and hey, with nAa's kernel and MCM7 and Paul's ICS betas, the wait can be tolerated and it will be worth it.
I think Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman is the best choice between the Mini, Mini Pro and Ray. It offers a great audio quality and has secondary camera.

infact I'm thinking of buying one myself !
Sony's 2012 line up doesn't seem to offer a 150 eur priced mobile with a cpu like the Sony Ericsson 2011 phones

[Q] Can Sony be trusted?

Hey guys. I'm currently using an HTC One and I'm thinking of buying the Xperia Z2 in June. The last Sony phone I used was the X10 Mini and haven't used a Sony since. I wasn't at all impressed by the new HTC One or the Galaxy S5, so basically the only phone left that's even remotely interesting would be the Xperia Z2.
Which brings me to my question: Can Sony be trusted? I have read about several issues with their phones.
Same boat as you. Last sony I had was the standard Sony X10. It was awful. Hated every minute of it. Was not as bad as my nokia 5800 I owned before it though.
Phones since then have been the galaxy S2, galaxy S3, now the LG G2 (best phone so far), and now pre ordered the X2. It looks amazing, and am very excited about it. Might not have it long as im planning (stupidly maybe) to take it to my 3yr old sons swimming lessons and get some underwater video footage of him as he loves swimming underwater! Think the slow motion feature will look amazing. So hoping Sony really is true to their word on it being waterproof

Well, after using some 9 Sony phones I believe this is the only brand which can be trusted so well. In fact I went a step ahead to import their Xperia Ray when it came out some 2 and a half years ago(means no warranty). Not a single issue still, it has fallen face down, been in contact with water, thrown against the wall and it still works with a scratch! Of course, I had to change its battery twice tho, both times after it fell or I threw it in anger, as the battery went a little fluffy and back plate wouldn't completely lock into its place. Recently got the third battery.

Good to know, haha. I'm not really into throwing 100's of euros worth of smartphones into the wall though. Being unemployed really makes you contain your anger and focus it on something else, lol. :silly:
Trusted? not really.
Let say this, the quality of the materials is without questioning but with the Software they screwed us from day one on Z1 and with the release of KitKat 4.4 they compleated the mess, which is the worst OS seen on Z1, with all the restrictions.
I own Z1 and now is not worth to sell it to buy the Z2 but everybody who did not buy Z1 I recommend to get Z2 as it is very well improved.
So I think even is Sony cannot be fully trusted I think you will not have regrets to buy Z2.

Well seeing how Slimesung failed with the S5 (they even managed to mess TW up even more, lol. Uglier and STILL lagging) and HTC failed with the M8 in my eyes (they could have put in a higer MP camera...), the Z2 is the only interesting phone out there, in my humble opinion.

I agree with you, at least HTC have tried something different, that vould be classed as usefull, dual camera, its definately, and could be useful. I mean come on, a heartbeat monitor, seriously!! I loved my S2 and my S3. The S4 just did not offer enough to make me change, and my anticipation for the S5 was so high. I was convinced I was getting the S5!!
My partner is now asking why im getting a sony after saying I was going to get the S5 for so long. Well darling, its because it is sh.........
The Z2 is definately the best phone available at the moment, and strangely, I find it beautiful! I really cant wait to own it and (geniunly) go swimming with it (im planning on doing a video of my 3yr old at his swimming lesson).
Still, phone of the year I think in my opinion will be...........the LG G3!

To be fair i though that on release of kit kat on G2, however I have flashed version 20b on it and suffer no problems whatsoever, I know its not officially release in Uk, but hey, thats why im on xda
I have no experience of Sony updates as if yet so cant comment here with an opinion yet. I know im going to love the Z2, the only thing that worries me is battery, but im hoping with a 3200 battery it will last the day as my G2 does with extreme heavy use.
On a side note, i bloody hate pre ordering phones, hate waiting, have zero patience with things like that at least when my phone does come i will have a new shiny sony tv being delivered for free shortly after, nice bonus considering I would have got the Z2 regardless. Samsung, hang your heads in shame :what:

You do know Sony aren't offering a TV, right? It's all on Vodafone UK, mate. Don't wanna defend Samsung, just wanna get the facts out.
Besides, if the battery turns out to be a little on the downside on the stock rom, I'm sure you could flash something that improves the battery. That's why we're on XDA.

Well to be fair its actually Sony doing the promotion, just through Vodafone, which luckily for me I am on.
TV Offer: Promoter, Sony Mobile Communications. First 3000 eligible pre-orders only before 09.04.14. TV can only be redeemed after first bill payment, between 08.05.14 to 08.07.14. Airtime agreement required. Excludes business customers, except small business (1-4 connections). TV offer Ts&Cs at vodafone.co.uk/sonyxperia
Soon as you recieve tv vodafone dont want to know. Hopefully this means that vodafone are one of the 'trusted partners' that will get the phone on release.
And yes your right on the battery side, but always better to get it running good from stock first as a good base to build on. I am hoping to be honest that people really do decide to avoid the Samsung, not because I hate them as I dont, but because I want them to pull something special out of the bag for the S6. The S3 was such a special phone and I loved it, still holds its own now, especially with a custom rom.
