[Sep 21][SD][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.8][Kernel: 2.6.32.15 #5] - HD2 Android SD Development

mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.8
Quick Changes:
New EVO kernel
Wifi tethering now works
Light sensor works
PPP reliability improved dramatically
No more hard freezes switching from Wifi to mobile data
MMS size fixed for T-Mobile US
Touch screen and G-Sensor freezes practically eliminated
Green line in YouTube HQ is gone, picture quality is improved
Based on the official HTC Desire Froyo update.
READ THIS!! You will see a strange screen at boot. It may have different images or lines in black/white and will appear to be frozen. This is normal, just be patient and it will move past this. Also, there is no RMNET - not even an option - for this build. PPP is stable and no longer freezes.
Random notes on the build:
Kernel is not overclockable. You can always replace with an overclockable kernel if you wish.
On PPP build, make sure all of your APN settings are correct. It may not work if they are not.
Instructions:
Download zip file.
Extract contents of zip file into a folder on your SD card named 'Android'.
Using a file explorer in Windows Mobile, inside the 'Android' folder run CLRCAD.exe. Don't worry, it will appear to do nothing, that is normal.
Run Haret.exe.
Enjoy Android.
Known problems:
It is easier to list what I know doesn't work.
Certain apps from the market won't install. Neocore is one for example. You have 2 options to get them to work. A) Copy the .apk to your SD card then run it from your phone or B) Unmount your SD card first (Settings > SD Card > Unmount SD Card).
Notification LEDs are flaky, sometimes work, sometimes not
Camera flashes prematurely.
Some items you may want that are indeed WORKING!
Bluetooth - Works completely on my Ford Sync system. A2DP, streaming audio, answering and ending calls, etc. BT Keyboards don't work yet.
Camera
3G. I get ~1000kbps down in Ft Worth. My EDGE speeds have increased in RC1.4.
WIFI. Confirmed working with WEP and WPA.
GPS. Takes some time to pickup on first use, works great.
SIM contacts are working. (edit: some people have had issues, I have not).
I have included Automount (a free app) to mount your SD Card. Simply open Automount, set it to mount, then plug in your USB cable.
FM Radio
Camcorder!

Fix for proximity sensor killing phone issue.
Updated Bluetooth. This may fix some issues.
Added Froyo default keyboard w/voice input. To activate, long press in any text input field, choose 'Input Method', choose 'Android keyboard'. You will see a microphone button, push it to use voice input. This keyboard also has the "swipe up" feature standard in Froyo.
Added Voice Dialer and Voice Search apps. They work great.
RC1.2:
Added Cotulla's and dan1j3l's GPS fix. I don't think it has been tested 100% so just know it is experimental right now. Thanks to the devs for getting us that!
Cleaned some unnecessary files to (hopefully) improve speed a little.
Testing improved stability of the filesystem. If you transfer files to your device (music, etc.) as a USB device, make sure to safely eject the device before removing the USB cable. If you improperly remove the device, you may experience some strange issues.

Wonderful! thank you
I just wanna know one completely un-related thing. does anybody know how to add more screens to sense?

Welcome mate.
Will give your rom a try as I try all the roms always even in WinMo. Thats how you find some really talent chefs.
I like the idea of bluetooth in -calls working

Can share the other download link? Megaupload doesn't support on my area. Thanks.

Great mod but was unable to get the bluetooth headset working with my jawbone icon. The A2DP worked for music, but not the phone audio. Will try on my Lexus to see if the phone headset works in there, will report back.

If you get green screen of death, it means that you are waiting too much to start android. Either boot with jmz loader or try one of the wm loaders and start it as soon as you can start something on your windows side.

Instructions:
** YOU MUST BE UNLOCKED BEFORE BEGINING! SEE STICKES FOR UNLOCK DETAILS FIRST! WE WILL NOT SUPPORT UNLOCKING IN THIS THREAD JUST FLASHING.
Flash ROM from RUU folder using ROM Update utility. Sync with Active Sync before starting upgrade utility. This ROM flashes just like any other Custom ROM.After flash is complete phone will boot up and AutoRun will start setting up. Do not try to stop this! Phone will reboot on its own when completed.
When Phone boots back up wait for the system to finish loading then...
1. Start Dialer by clicking Green Phone button
2. Dial *22899 and let the programming start. Phone will reboot when completed
3. Click Start -> Programs -> Navigation -> GPS Prep. Install it to the device and not storage card. When install is complete click OK. You should be back in the programs menu under Navigation.
4. Now you see an Installation folder as well as GPS Prep. GO into install folder and run "Run PPST". Select OK to proceed with update. When that is finished select OK when prompted to reboot.
5. Now we need to enable GPS in windows and verify the PRI update worked. Start phone by pressing green button. Service should now say Sprint instead of VZW. You will need to make a call to do this. Dial your voice mail. It should ring in to it no problem and the carrier should now say sprint on the screen instead of VZW. If it does then proceed to next step. If not go to step 1 and start over.
Now click Menu -> Options -> Serivces Tab -> Location Settings -> Get Settings -> Location On -> OK ->ok
6. DONE!
At this point you are done and GPS is unlocked. You can start installing the included GPS apps if yiou choose.
**The included apps have been modified to put the shortcuts in the Navigation Folder under programs. They are the latest versions respectively as of 20 Dec 2008 11:49PM Central Time. They can be uninstalled later to accommodate updated software! Don’t ask in the thread because you will look really silly as I have answered the question here.
Installing Live search and Google Maps then making them compatible, Step by Step!
How to set up Live Search
Install application from \Navigation\Installation\
After installing the application will launch.
Select Menu -> Settings. Arrows Done to GPS COM0 and change it to GPS COM4. Select Done
Now select Map. This brings up the default map. Next turn on GPS by pressing Menu -> Center on GPS.
It can take a few minute for a first fix. After that it much quicker. I also recommend toggle Center GPS on and back off again if it doesn’t pick up in under 90 seconds as a matter of fact the program will force you to. If it forces you to then click Ok then toggle “Center on GPS” off then back on and it will lock quickly! First lock is always hard on fresh flash. After that you should be good to go.
How to set up Google Maps
Install application from \Navigation\Installation\
After installation Google Maps will load for the first time.
Select Menu -> Options -> GPS Settings
Select Set manually and then arrow down and select COM4 then change baud rate to 4800. Now click ok.
Now Select Menu -> Use GPS and you will then lock on!
TomTom7
Install as normal and let it configure the GPS automatically as normal when starting up for the first time.
Done!
Remember: Be patient! It may take a couple soft reset to get it to work but it will. Trust me. Worse case scenario I had with a flash was I had to try twice in Live search then exit live search, toggle location off and back on, restart Live Seach and it locked instantly. Most of the time it will lock on the second try. Its been about 90% consistent under 60 seconds for me. A brand new phone took only two tries with live search and it got it within 15 seconds on the second try.
Note 1: This was done on a brand new in Box XV6850 straight from the VZW store and worked as stated above. These were also conducted using the stock Radio. This was done in the office basement of my house completely below ground. These are results are repeatable as I have don’t them at least 8 times now on two different phones.
Note 2: I have not applied anyother fix to my phone other than the steps listed above. I have not applied the aGPS fix either.
If you want to change the banner than follow the thread for the GPS fix by bored. There are instructions in there on how to fix the banner from Sprint to Verizon.

Update 23 Dec 08
I have uploaded the kitchen. The direct link is below until I update the html. Please ask any questions you have in this thread and I will try to help as much as possible. eRice would not be asisting as I made pretty major changes he would not be able to support.
Just replace the eRice OEM fiolder wiht hte one in the download. Use the kitchen per his post.

Ok some users having issue getting the golden first lock try this:
Its cheating but it works. Call VZW and add VZ Navigator to your account. Its free for 30 days. Download and install it. Use the My Location to get a fix. Exit VZ Nav. Start live search, google, tom tom whatever and it will lock right away because the GPS is primed. Once you get that first lock you are godo to go!!! Call VZW at end of 30 days and cancel.
It does take patients. I had it not work right away on about 3 of 15 times trying it since it was out. It will work but requires patients. When paitents runs out try the above.
You can also try the aGPS fix aswell as using the GC provisioning cab. Some users said tha tmakes teh differnece for them.
My best advice: Soft reset and toggle GPS off and then on in phone options. Styart live search and try again. It may take a couyple times but it does work ;c)
About to give this a try, you and bored are f*ckin great!
Ill be back with confirmation and appropriate thanks if all works out!
*sigh* i just have to charge up to 50% battery first lol

Hahahah, I will have tell you how to get around that one day. You think my battery ever makes it OVER 50% hahahaha.....
How to get around: Put phone in bootloader mode. Active sync doesnt check battery status. I flash on 5 to 10% battery most of the time. hahaha... I dont recomend this to anyone other than myself.
Dont try this with the hard PSL though!!!!!!
Thanx Scott, will try this out in a bit. Flashing this stuff is an addiction now...

Good, glad to see my addiction is spreading and no longer contained to just me! Hahahaha...
Let me know what you think.
Just an FYI: You do not have to apply the GPS fix if you choose not too. The ROM can be used as is.
I've been waiting until there was a GPS fix before flashing a custom ROM; did this one this morning and works like a charm. I haven't customized anything yet; just installed the ROM, my Exchange settings, the GPS fix and Windows Live, and it works like a charm so far.
I'll be able to answer this myself shortly; but did you put Voice Command back in?
Thanks so much for all your work.
I have flashed to this ROM and I am not able to get the GPS to work at all.
I am going to reflash the ROM and try again and report back on any progress.
I hope this works for me.
Thanks for your work and Bored as well.
You guys are the reason I went to HTC over Samsung.
You guys ROCK!
Tom Tom Navigator
You mention using the gps with TomTom Navigator 7. Do you know if it would be the same in TT Nav 6 which is what I have? Is there a TTNav7 for US or a way to use it on US maps?
Can someone point me towards more information on the GPS fix? this truly unlocks Verizons GPS for use of any GPS app?
EDIT: oops. Found the info I needed.
Thank to you Scosler, I have been really enjoying my touch pro.
So I reflash the ROM and I am still not able to connect as smoothly as others have been able to.
I followed all directions and still no GPS! UGHHH
Scott, I checked the Device Info for my PRO and saw the following info:
ROM Version = 1.00.0.0
ROM Date = 09/12/08
Radio Version = 1.03.03V
Protocol Version = 7500J-SDCBBPZM-6150
Hardware Versio = 0002
PRL Version = 51143
PRI Version = 1.53_003
Browser Version = MSIE 6.0
ERI Version = 4
Is this what it is supposed to be?
If not, What did I screw up?

Nope thats what its supposed to be. Just be patient. Make sure location is turned on, try to get a good a spot where you can see the sky.
I just compared mine to a sprint phone with aGPS and mine actually locked about 15 seconds faster. It took my 7 seconds to lock. Took him 23 seconds.
Try toggling location on and off. Do it while you are trying to connect with live search. It may seem to freeze the phone. If it does it means GPS is working because it wont let you toggle. If thats the case then go back into live search and toggle GPS off again. Then toggle the location setting off and back on. Thats what it took for me one time.
Its touchy the first time but not like that the second and subsequent times.
Be patient, it does work. I couldnt get it to work the very very first time. I had to play with Location Settings off then on a couple times and soft reset a couple times and I was GOLDEN. Most of the flashes I have done already just require the toggle off then on trick.
Be patient, it works. You will get it. Leave your phone by a window if you ahve to and come back in 5 minutes. I think watching the display makes it lock slower ;c)

Did you even read the first post? The fix is in the ROM. Just follow instructions.
If you want the fix without the ROM its over at PPC Geeks.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49933. THis can be applied to some existing Custom ROM's, any and all versions of my custom ROM, and the stock ROM. Not all custom ROM's have been reported to work. I see three posts for the NexVision ROM stating it doesnt work. I cant say one way or the other. I only use my own ROM's.
This new ROM works like a champ! I followed the instructions exactly and it worked first time without any issues. Great work!

Hey guys, glad you liked it! Good stuff or what?
I found TomTom 7.45 locks THE FASTES out of all GPS apps. I locked with TomTom and Live search was in the background still trying to lock.
I also compared my phone against a Sprint Cooked ROM on a Sprint device and my **** locked 3x faster than the sprint device.
Here was the conditions:
Temp -15 F
Time 10:00am
Location downtown Fargo ND
My ROM on my XV6850
Sprint Cooked ROM from PPC Kitchen on Sprint device (Co-Worker)
Both OS were 20931 builds.
We both walked down the stairs form our "vault" of an office. We both flicked on TomTom and stood side by side. Mine locked in 7 seconds, his locked in about 23 seconds. A full 15 seconds difference. **** Sprint and all the **** that was talked. I consisitenantly get faster locks than a sprint device.
FTW!!! MY ROM KICKS ASS. FTW!!!! llllboredllll forever!
Having issue with GPS. When i try to enable location to ON, it just hangs, I get the busy icon and it doesnt do anything. I can push OK and it dissappears but gps doesnt work in any program. I tried rerunning all the gps tools but nothing works. When i restart the phone in settings it shows location ON, but it still doesnt work. When i try to turn it off, it hangs again.
Scott,
I haven't installed this new ROM yet but I wanted to point out a problem I've been having with the last ROM. When I want to download an attachment within an email in Messaging, the keyboard almost always locks up and I can't save the attachments to my TouchPro. It locks up on the screen where I select where to place the document as a 'Save as'.
Other than that, it's all worked great and I can't wait to try out the new GPS fix!

[USER][CM7] Bluetooth tips and tricks...and questions

Hope I'm not duplicating anything, but there seems to be a lot of BT related questions and none answered in one unified place. Also I think the BT Dev thread should be left to the devs (to keep it easier for them to work on things, rather than help us mere mortals ).
This applies to CM7 (latest nightlies, Tablet Tweak RCs) ONLY (as far as I know).
So, if bluetooth does not turn on, there a few things that you can try.
Do a HARD reset (that is, hold down the power button until the NookColor turns off, then start it back up.
Fix Permissions in ClockworkRecovery:
Boot into CWR (w/SD, load it in. With CWR installed on eMMC, go to ROM Manager > Reboot into Recovery. Alternatively, hold down the power plus "N" button for ~8 seconds (from a shutdown NookColor).
Try both!
An interesting thing to note is some users (myself included) can only start up bluetooth within a pretty short window of time after the NC has booted up. Not sure why timing is important, but could be a factor for those who cannot start up BT after some given time of operation.
I found this tip that may work after a fresh (read: wipe system/data) install, but may also work after flashing a nightly over a nightly.
If you're ready to turn on Bluetooth, there's a trick. If you don't do this, Bluetooth will just refuse to turn on / be enabled.
Turn off wifi (Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi)
Reboot
Turn on Bluetooth (Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth)
Turn on wifi
It seems a bit odd, but that's what you have to do. From then on out it'll work fine.

For a list and description of devices that work with the NC, check this out:
Known functional Bluetooth devices
For tethering data via BT, try android-wifi-tether. While it can be used to create an access point on your phone via wifi, you can also opt to use BT to create the tether. This works well in conjunction with TetherGPS which I use to provide GPS info to the NC from my G1 while using CoPilot Live to show navigation (I don't have data on the G1).

Tried that previously and it did not work for me.
In other words, it works as with all the kernels I've tried (your OC'd and stock kernel): it will start up if I start is quickly, but otherwise not.

me too. I went back to 4/4 since them. If I leave BT on all the time, it is on when I boot, but if I turn off BT and reboot, it won't come on without a hardboot (holding down power.)
Fix permissions is NOT needed, just a hard boot.

For the last few days Ive been trying to get BT working w/ my car stereo, using phiremod 5.3
I have no problems enabling Bluetooth (first time I had to reboot a few times and fix permissions)
With it flat against the stereo, I'm 'paired but not connected' and getting it to actually connect usually takes 4 - 5 tries.
After its connected- when I try to play any kind of music, it gets stuck every few seconds- and stays stuck for more than a few seconds (like 10) and plays again.
I just downloaded this kernel, (wiped caches, fixed permissions again) and it connected on the second time, and only got 'stuck' once for maybe 2 seconds, and played the rest of the song with no problems.
Seems like it changed something on my end...
Just figured I'd mentioned it.
(I can go back to the other kernel, or a different version of cm7, and see if I get the same connecting/ stuttering problem, if you thing it would help)
Btw- thanks so much for sharing all of your hard work!

I dont' know if anyone who's building from source wants to take a look at this patch committed 3 days ago on the omapzoom tree to frameworks/base, but it seems to address a bluetooth corruption problem.
Can anyone who's using the copilot app tell me exactly how to get it set up? I can get the GPS signal to the nook but then I get an error about an invalid imei number.

I believe you also need the Bluetooth GPS Provider app from the market.

Never had an issue with the IMEI number, but here's how I got it setup.
Start with the TetherGPS app running server on the phone and client on the NC, as well as tether-wifi from google running on the phone, then connect to the AP on the NC
Next, open/install the app. It should read the GPS data from the phone
Now, switch back to a wireless connection with internet access, download the voice, then enter the serial/etc...
Finally, load the app back up after all the registration stuff 'n things, and use the "internet" connection from the phone to grab the GPS info.
Copied and edited from cm7 user thread.
I have xoom bluetooth keyboard with disconnect issues. Would the special kernel help with this?
From the accessories thread. "I found a work-around. Download the app Bluetooth Keyboard JP, change the settings in settings > Language and Keyboard to that app, then connect the keyboard." Anybody else try this or others? Blue Input is another one. I know of one more but can remember its name.
I'm running Phiremod v5.3 cm7 from emmc and cm7 nightlies from sd card. I usually have a data sd card but can switch it out. I have updated the cm7 sd card before. Not sure which nightly and OC I used last. Could use ClockWorksMod to flash this kernel to Phiremod v5.3. Could replace the kernel, uImage, on the SD card. Usually there are different kernels for emmc and sd card.
Another issue: When I have the keyboard active and playing flash files from the internet, it seems to buffer more. If I move the keyboard out of range or use settings to disconnect the keyboard, the buffering is less and the flash files play better. I have cyfi bluetooth external speakers. When I use them I get the same buffering issue, so I just use an external player through the headphone jack instead.

Question: will 'Wireless Tethering' work in place of 'tether-wifi'? Or does it -have- to be 'tether-wifi'? Thanks!
any software will work that tethers.:-D

Apparently the latest version of Copilot has introduced this error. I have spoken with tech support regarding the issue and they told me that they are aware of the problem and will release an update early next week that will fix the problem. Apparently if you have version 8.2.504 it works, but the new version breaks it. The dev won't send me a copy of the old version, so I guess I'll just have to wait and hope.

I don't know if that is a solution, but the problem appears to be a conflict between wifi and bluetooth. Turn off wifi and most of your keyboard problems will go away.
Also there is an app on the market called "Null Keyboard" Which simply turns on a keyboard device that disables everything keyboard related. It doesn't disable bluetooth input, but it gets rid of the long-press pop ups and is suppose to solve other issues as well (including the software keyboard popping up every time you want to type.)
I haven't had time to install it, but it's purchased.
Does anyone know where (on the Nook) the BT chip/antenna is located?
It might help to know, since the range is so limited...

I was just using google voice to text from several feet back. In fact it was hard to read the small print from that distance. I did not realized that keyboards have a larger range then headsets.
Testing Bluetooth Keyboard JP now. Force closes, so just switched to swift keyboard I downloaded from amazon app store for free. To get out swift keyboard and get a null keyboard, I hit the back key on the xoom keyboard, then the virtual swift keyboard no longer shows up.
@chisleu do you have a link or instruction to modify bluetooth keyboards so that keys can have their mappings corrected. Xoom has some correct and some wrong or disabled under CM7.
Couldn't get BT to work at all however powering down while the wifi is off, and turning the bluetooth on before the wifi made it works on the first try. Was streaming Slacker to my stereo in a matter of minutes. Wifi doesn't seem to interfere with the BT audio stream at all, audio sounded crisp and perfect. Range however was still limited to a foot or so.
Hoping there is a possible hardware mod that can hook up an antenna to the BT chip. I'd be in heaven if I had full BT functionality on this beast.
FYI, Although I don't have any RF experience I'm still an electrical engineer so if anyone can toss me a bone on the PCB layout or pinouts of the nook I might be able to try stuff to boost the range.
What is the feasibility of adding dial-up networking client support to CM7? Some folks are able to tether their NC to their phone using an ad hoc wifi network, and others have had success via a Bluetooth personal area network (PAN) using the "pand" utility. Unfortunately, I have a Blackberry phone, and it does not support the PAN profile. It does, however, support dial-up networking (DUN) over Bluetooth (confirmed with a Windows laptop).
According to https://sites.google.com/a/android.com/opensource/projects/bluetooth-faq, "dund" is the client utility that is needed to establish a dial-up connection from Android to another device. When I run this command on the NC, it says "dund: not found". I'm not a developer and don't know how much effort would be involved in adding this functionality to the build. Is it just a matter of including the binaries, or is there additional development work involved?
Thanks in advance..

First of all I would like to thank the great Lloir for allowing me to use his device tree for the AT&T Hox+ device. Second of all I would like to thank maxwen for his bluedroid. Yes, I do know that bluetooth is not yet working in this build, but it is only a matter of time before i figure it out!
Also make sure you have the boot-PIZZA-CM10.1-201302190127.img flashed in fastboot using
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot-PIZZA-CM10.1-201302190127.img
There is an included kernel but due to s-off you have to manually flash it
I do fully intend to fancy up this post quite a bit with graphics and changelog when I have the time. I thank you for your patience!
I'll try to get screenshots as soon as I can for those of you that are curious!
Please do test the rom because I need all the bugs possible!
Things I know work:
?LTE? HSPA+ and data even though the signal report meter is bugged
Paranoid Engine (preferences) works fine
General Audio - Seems to work fine listening to media
Live Tiles. Works fine in Tablet mode
Wifi - 5ghz and 2.4ghz seem to work excellent 5ghz is a little slow but I haven't done extensive testing
Touchscreen
Camera
USB Tethering
NFC - seems to turn on and off fine. testers let me know please how it works for you!
Things I know are buggy and/or don't work:
Laggy phone reception - When phone turns on takes awhile to find and join up to the cellular network
Calling - Makes and receives call, but audio doesn't come through and microphone doesn't pick up audio. #1 Top Priority now that I have a ROM that successfully builds
Bluetooth - Doesn't even turn on - High Priority
^->Bluetooth Tethering
Advanced Button in settings will cause a Force Close for Settings (we don't have any advanced tegra fanciness in here yet) - Known Bug
GPS - Intentionally broken causes and insane amount of bootlooping - Looking into this
Signal Strength display under Phone Info in settings reports an incorrect value
Live Tiles - Don't work under Phone or Phablet mode. For me at least. Testers confirm?
Wifi Tethering
?LTE? I don't live in an LTE city LTE testers please contact me!
Lights in capacitive buttons don't work - definitely a kernel related fix
#Please Report More bugs so i can look into it!*
And the moment you've all been waiting for a link to the rom!
Code:
[URL="http://www.lloir.com/downloads-site/nightlies/xplusatt/AOSP/"]pa_evitareul-3.15-03APR2013-094155.zip[/URL]
If you want gapps I haven't tested the rom with them but I recommend you either grab the gapps from http://goo.im/gapps or the gapps for ParanoidAndroid (slightly modified) http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps
Thanks again to Lloir for letting me use his wonderful website to host my rom!
I also would like to thank all of my testers in advance for being such a friendly and supportive crowd and I really do hope you all enjoy this rom
Thank you!

If someone wants to send me an international one I would love to build and debug for both. I don't really believe in debugging a device I don't even have even if they do have subtle differences. Any international peoples who want to see this ROM let me know! If there is demand I might do a build for it as well!

No not really. Its library based issue. I'm still trying to figure it all out.. could be a kernel or alsa based fix. I'm currently working on the phone issue as fast as humanly possible with my time as it seems to be very high priority for everyone.

So far...amazing!
So I flashed it today and I've been playing around with it for the past hour. I have to say it is working pretty well for just a beta! Extremely smooth after all of my apps reinstalled, and I'm loving all of the quick settings we can do, like density change just by the click of a button.
Only problems I have though:
-The on screen buttons, I'm guessing you can turn them off when advanced settings works again? but they are just taking up space considering the fact we have buttons already
-When you change the density the recent apps that get pulled up are still the big default size
-Due to onscreen buttons, the HTC's menu button doesn't work...once again could just be fixed when advanced settings are fixed
-Because i used HTC messaging and Camera, i dont have any of my texts or pictures anymore
-lock screen/wake screen has a minor delay
-browser app is kinda buggy
Awesome features:
-The tablet styles...its my first time being able to play around with this
-FINALLY getting rid of HTC messenger app
-emojis on the texting keyboard
-ALOT more!
Im just psyched to have the power of this phone, and not having to worry about HTC Sense! I'll keep playing around and keep you updated, but so far, IM LOVING IT! :good::good:
I installed this ROM 2 times I'm LTE shows 1 bar on status bar for data it comes up 3+ ..I'm throttled at this time on aT&T on there network so hard to tell what 4 g is like but seems to download at good speed no audio of course but overall but I need to play with it more like it so far

First of all the on screen buttons are intentional. You can turn them off in ParanoidPreferences by changing the Nav Bar slider all the way down to zero. Second I am quite aware the HTC menu button doesn't work, if you want to get a "menu" click use the recent apps button but just long press it, and i'm working on that along with calling in the next release. Unless you somehow backup your text messages they won't carry over because you are now using an AOSP rom which has different storage for its data. I'm sorry for the loss of data but its unavoidable switching between sense and non sense. The pictures should still be on your /data/media/ in the sdcard Jellybean uses a new /data/media/0/ if you want to set up some time to talk on irc the #onev-dev channel on irc.freenode.net PM me please. This goes for any and all testers with minor easily resolvable issues
I would like to ask markwoo for some logcats of his device as I am not actually seeing LTE on my device, in seattle at the moment, and I know they have LTE there is a known issue with the signal strength meter and I would like to take a look at it in this case.
In terms of media and audio playing in general Pandora and Spotify seem to work fine with headphones and without.
In addition I would like to let everyone know that bleeding edge development will be kept on the first post at the very top for the time being!
Thanks for being a lloyal tester!

Mines shooting nuclear kittens from its head phone jack... Please fix my bug.!!
That sounds beneficial though. If it wasn't doing that we could lose everything. Whatever you do don't reflash or attempt to fix this
I was running Captain Throwback's 4.13.651.4 which I installed by flashing recovery and firmware, then the ROM. Never had any weird issues on that ROM.
When I went to this InsertCoin ROM, I flashed 3.0.6 and let it do a full wipe and flash. Then I realized I didn't download the latest one (must have been updating the links at the time) so I downloaded 3.0.7 and did an update flash. Had problems so I did a 3.0.7 full wipe and flash.
I did recover a lot of my apps + data using Titanium (no system apps), but it failed after a while with issue #3 below.
The issues I'm seeing are/have been:
1) Repeated activation prompt every boot (remedied by updating profile)
2) No sound with videos shot from the stock camera app (most of the time)
3) Apps not installing sometimes with error "cannot install on usb or sd" - fixed each time by unmounting sd card and installing app, then remounting. Doesn't happen on every app.
4) Google Now/Search not listening for voice
5) No automatic switching from Wi-Fi to cell data (option was turned off?!), but works now. Still sometimes doesn't like it if I turn on airplane mode and then try to re-enable Wi-Fi, end up having to restart phone to get Wi-Fi to work.
6) Default Mail app crashes when viewing some/many emails (Exchange and Yahoo). Using MailWise for now but I like the stock app better.
Extreme power saving mode works too well. My charger is feeling betrayed, unloved and unwanted.
I have "scanning always available" checked but I still have been losing WiFi connectivity at least a couple times a day, requiring a reboot each time. Usually it's when I leave an area and come to another (such as leaving work and coming home) but once it lost connection while at work and I hadn't gone anywhere.

I noticed that occasionally. But I never had to reboot, all I had to do was toggle Wi-Fi, and occasionally had to toggle mobile data after leaving Wi-Fi
Upgraded to the new partitions using the 4.13.651.1 RUU, followed that with subsequent releases up to .4. Since then I ran Captain_Throwback's 4.13.651.3 and .4 ROMs. And prior to flashing InsertCoin I was on the Novitious 4.3 / Sense5.5 ROM all using TRWP 2.7.0.1b (iirc)
Prior to flashing InsertCoin, I updated the Recovery to TWRP 2.8.0.0 and did a full wipe and flash. This was done 4 nights ago and the name f the downloaded file is "InsertCoin_Sense6_JWL-3.0.7.zip" but the software version shown on my phone is 3.0.6?
The abnormalities I am seeing are as follows:
Activation prompt started on the second reboot and ended on the 4th after I did a profile update.
Cannot save video files to internal storage or external SD (64GB FAT32)
Google Now, Search or Voice to Text input is not working. The prompt to speak never come up and in text messages the long press command simply does nothing.
WiFi will occasionally drop and cannot be re-enabled without a reboot. Toggling WiFi results in an extended period of time of it trying to turn on, but results in a failed attempt. Toggling Airplane Mode and/or Data has not seemed to help.
Have noticed that Airplane mode sometimes takes a long time to turn on, sometimes about or just over one minute.
Default mail app was crashing with some emails during the first day to day and a half, but I have not had any problems with it since, but that might just be the emails I have opened.
After each reboot I receive the error that com.android, phone has stopped responding, this happens about four times within the first couple minutes after each reboot.
The Weather Clock widget does not automatically change it's format when the phone is turned to landscape. Pressing the Home button does correct it. The widget does reformat without user input when going from Landscape to Portrait mode.
In-call volume seems low compared to normal.
And it should also be noted that I am using the Liberty Kernel.

Liberty kernel I believe breaks sd card in call audio is low but we are working on that.
Meaning just with the video camera use? I know in the kernel thread many have reported problems mounting SD Cards with the Liberty Kernel, but since I am using a different format I have no problems mounting the card, nor reading/writing to it. I can also take pictures and they are saved to the external SD (just conformed) with no issues, the only exception that I have found so for, is saving video files from the cam.
I brought this up in the official thread but figured it might warrant a mention here too. The tweak that is supposed to allow you too launch specific programs by either swiping to the left or right from the lockscreen doesn't work.
It only does the default behavior regardless of what options you pick in the settings menu.

That's odd. Doesn't sound like a kernel feature to me (but what do I know? -- answer, "not much" when it comes to kernels) Could somebody else (who's running the "default" kernel) attempt to set an application to launch by left/right swiping in the lockscreen?
Feature can be found in Settings -> InsertCoin Kontrol -> Various ("Lockscreen left unlock action" - select an app, and "Lockscreen right unlock action" - select an app) and see if this works for you with the provided kernel? Just curious if it's actually working if you keep everything as is instead of flashing the liberty kernel like I did.

I've tried it with the default/stock kernel and changing those values has no effect, even after restarting.
No problems running this rom (and using liberty kernel)
I wanted to thank the ROM developers. I am having NO issues running this rom, with liberty kernel, and a bunch of xposed modules. My phone feels more repsonsive then before when i was running Viper 3.1.7 using bulletproof kernel. First couple of restarts i had the activation issue pop up, but got that resolved. Only had 2 complaints, i don't like using pinch to zoom in the camera(would love an option to always show the zoom bar), and wifi tethering was not working. I got the wifi tethering to work by using WiFi Tether Router(also needed this app for tethering on Sense 5.5) Thank you developers for bringing new life into my old phone.

official Z7mini 5.0 beta bugs

Hi,
as some people may not be sure before switching to the beta version released by nubia, it may be a good idea to list the issues that we found with this rom
here are mine (I only use one sim card)
1: UI is slow and even more slow with full brightness (installing another launcher could help)
2: the notification switchs (data) will be ON whereas data is off . Plain mode also turn off data but the switch stay on
3: bluetooth audio is crappy... there are like sound hole every 5 seconds... can't use it correcly in my car
beside that, it did not tell the car what music is playing (there was no issue on CM12 and Mokee 5)
4: once the new system is installed, you can't reinstall directly install your previous backups as the partition is now different..
new CM12/mokee will be released soon to fix this. In the worst case you can still reinstall kitkat with the nubia update tool

I've tried to duplicate the problem in number 1, but have not had problems. I've also read (don't remember where now) on a couple of the Chinese bbs that this seems common. Some people really think the new UI is slow and others do not have problems. I actually think it runs pretty smoothly.
I agree with number 2. Additionally, even though I have vibrate turned off, the phone always vibrates. Unless I have the phone on silent, then there is no vibrating and no sound. I've tried to have vibrate for silent only and it does not work.
I don't use bluetooth, so I cannot confirm number 3.
I partially disagree with point 4 because you can get much of what you had back previously if you used something like Titanium Backup. As I stated in one of my previous posts, I used Titanium backup to backup all apps and data. After that, I copied the folder to my computer. After installing the Nubia beta update, I transferred the folder back to the phone and restored everything without any problems. On the other hand, number 4 is correct. You cannot go back and reinstall a previous TWRP or CWM backup because of the unified storage. In my opinion, this has nothing to do with Nubia as this applies to any phone that upgrades from 4.4 to 5.0/5.1. If a rom says that it is Android L, but does not use unified storage, it is still technically a modified version of 4.4.
A couple of additional points that I don't like:
Cannot modify the actions of the buttons
No theme engine for further UI modifications
No clock widget (I know it's minor, but many people are complaining about this on the Chinese bbs too.)
One thing that is nice is that I had issues with my battery overheating frequently and since I have updated this has not happened at all. Maybe it's just me, but I'm kind of an app junkie. I'm always trying new apps; installing them, uninstalling them and so on. This process seems to be much quicker now. Additionally, I think that the signal has improved. I now have mobile reception in several areas where it was a dead zone previously.
thank you for your long feedback
in fact i prefer using cwm or twrp backups as i change the entire rom, it may be that some settings are not located at the same place so using a tool like titanium that run on the rom itself may not find all settings (but maybe they improved it since i first tried)
Concerning the UI slownes, I used Mokee and Cm12 on this phone and the feeling was a lot smoother
other people confirmed this. Try sliding from one desktop to an other with brightness level at minimum and retry it with maximum brightness you'll notice a visible difference
concerning the existing CM12/Mokee 5 roms, these are indeed Android5. But maybe they didn't change the storage to be 100% compatible with existing nubia partition
oh i also forgot, like in previous nubia rom, the UI has no notification access menu... I don't understand why
this is particulary useful if another device needs to read the notifications like a watch or a band... (but you can access it by installing 3rd party tools)
i'm on Cuocu92's modified Android 5 (he added some stuff like multilang, removed some useless apps and added google apps)
but I will switch back to Mokee or Cm12 as soon as they release a working version... the bluetooth and notification switch issue are two point that force me to switch
I do agree that Mokee and CM12 were a bit smoother. However, even when I change brightness from minimum to maximum I don't seem to notice any drastic change in smoothness. Maybe it's the launcher that you use like we talked about in the other thread. I agree with you on the notification access menu, that's a pain in the a$$. Interesting about the CM12/Mokee; I've read several places that state otherwise, so I'm not sure what to believe. I also agree, I too will switch back to Mokee or CM12. The FIUI rom has also been having some really nice improvements and I may try that if they switch to 5.0. For me the notification, the button customization, and the themes make me want to switch back.
Have to agree that the UI on 5.0 is pretty laggy even when using Nova launcher which is usually butter smooth their is major frame drops. And it especially gets laggy when brightness adjusts its self if set on auto.
Also at some point the home button stopped working for some unknown reason. I had to use the back button to exit apps. I don't know why some guys say that they don't have a theme engine. I have one on my ROM.
All in all I would not recommend someone using this ROM as a daily driver. Stick to 4.4 or any of the CM12, CM12.1 or Mokee versions.
I happen to have 2 Z7 minis with me and they both had the exact same bugs. I had to revert back to CM12.
i went to new CM12.1
but for people who need GPS => CM12.1 has a broken GPS, no signal, not even one satelite got detecte. Even outside with a clear view. Whereas official nubia can fix whitin 10 seconds inside ...

I agree now and finally see what people are talking about. Certain apps have really slowed down. It's apps that I don't use very often, but it's getting to be annoying. Going to give the new CM12 a try.

Can anyone help me? I was trying to flash the new CM12.1 using TWRP and in the middle of it the phone went black. Now I can't turn it back on, can't do anything. Ideas anyone? This sucks. Fortunately, I just did a backup of everything, but now the phone won't even power up. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Yes, I had already upgraded to the official nubia beta.
Edit: The phone still won't turn on, whether it's plugged in or not. However, when I plug it into the computer I can see 5 different partitions of various odd sizes with different aspects of the phone software visible.
Edit 2: So I did a hard reset and was able to get back to TWRP. Next I tried wipe data, cache, dalvik and it did the usual trying to format partitions and it kept failing, saying it couldn't access data. I tried flashing CM12.1 and it gave me the same error, although it said it installed successfully. I also flashed gapps. Now I'm waiting for it to boot up.

I've been on CM12.1 for almost 24 hours now and have not had this problem. GPS was off by default when I installed it and I had to enable it. I've used G-maps and a couple of other apps that need GPS and all of them locked on within a few seconds.

did you tried with gps device only settings ?
because maps use wifi and network localisation to have a position even when gps is not turned on
this really makes me crazy...
I installed gps test and it stay a "no fix"
whereas when i restore my nubia 5.0 OS and tried gps test it fix directly
restoring back the CM12.1 got again no fix :/

You are correct. I had not tried device only - it does not work. This is frustrating. Off to the Chinese forums to see what they say....
Hey guys I'm using the official v3.01 and I have so many bugs and crashes. Worst of all it crashes when I have an incoming call and sometimes the screen goes dark when I get a call and I can't swipe and answer the phone. Is there anyway to go back to KitKat 4.4.4? Can anyone explain the steps?
