First of all I would like to thank the great Lloir for allowing me to use his device tree for the AT&T Hox+ device. Second of all I would like to thank maxwen for his bluedroid. Yes, I do know that bluetooth is not yet working in this build, but it is only a matter of time before i figure it out!
Also make sure you have the boot-PIZZA-CM10.1-201302190127.img flashed in fastboot using
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot-PIZZA-CM10.1-201302190127.img
There is an included kernel but due to s-off you have to manually flash it
I do fully intend to fancy up this post quite a bit with graphics and changelog when I have the time. I thank you for your patience!
I'll try to get screenshots as soon as I can for those of you that are curious!
Please do test the rom because I need all the bugs possible!
Things I know work:
?LTE? HSPA+ and data even though the signal report meter is bugged
Paranoid Engine (preferences) works fine
General Audio - Seems to work fine listening to media
Live Tiles. Works fine in Tablet mode
Wifi - 5ghz and 2.4ghz seem to work excellent 5ghz is a little slow but I haven't done extensive testing
Touchscreen
Camera
USB Tethering
NFC - seems to turn on and off fine. testers let me know please how it works for you!
Things I know are buggy and/or don't work:
Laggy phone reception - When phone turns on takes awhile to find and join up to the cellular network
Calling - Makes and receives call, but audio doesn't come through and microphone doesn't pick up audio. #1 Top Priority now that I have a ROM that successfully builds
Bluetooth - Doesn't even turn on - High Priority
^->Bluetooth Tethering
Advanced Button in settings will cause a Force Close for Settings (we don't have any advanced tegra fanciness in here yet) - Known Bug
GPS - Intentionally broken causes and insane amount of bootlooping - Looking into this
Signal Strength display under Phone Info in settings reports an incorrect value
Live Tiles - Don't work under Phone or Phablet mode. For me at least. Testers confirm?
Wifi Tethering
?LTE? I don't live in an LTE city LTE testers please contact me!
Lights in capacitive buttons don't work - definitely a kernel related fix
#Please Report More bugs so i can look into it!*
And the moment you've all been waiting for a link to the rom!
Code:
[URL="http://www.lloir.com/downloads-site/nightlies/xplusatt/AOSP/"]pa_evitareul-3.15-03APR2013-094155.zip[/URL]
If you want gapps I haven't tested the rom with them but I recommend you either grab the gapps from http://goo.im/gapps or the gapps for ParanoidAndroid (slightly modified) http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps
Thanks again to Lloir for letting me use his wonderful website to host my rom!
I also would like to thank all of my testers in advance for being such a friendly and supportive crowd and I really do hope you all enjoy this rom
Thank you!

If someone wants to send me an international one I would love to build and debug for both. I don't really believe in debugging a device I don't even have even if they do have subtle differences. Any international peoples who want to see this ROM let me know! If there is demand I might do a build for it as well!

Haha don't get me wrong, wasn't implying anything with previous post just trying to be funny before someone else would be all serious about it :silly:
I would like to see a AOSPA for the international variant yea, but I definitely wouldn't want to force it on you so I'd say just do your thing and debug the **** out of this ***** first xD

Super excited for this Solomon. However, I will have to wait to test at least until phone call audio is fixed.
Awesome to have you aboard.
And thanks to Lloir for getting you to join

Sadly I need voice at the moment or I'd run this through the gauntlet. I'll be your loyal guinea pig starting Friday though!

Will logcats in anyway be helpful for the audio issue?

No not really. Its library based issue. I'm still trying to figure it all out.. could be a kernel or alsa based fix. I'm currently working on the phone issue as fast as humanly possible with my time as it seems to be very high priority for everyone.

Take it easy, don't get burnt out. Getting HTC devices to work seems to be a marathon not a sprint.

Just finished downloading now. I'll run it over the next two days since I am off and pass along my findings. Thanks for continuing in lloirs footsteps.

So far...amazing!
So I flashed it today and I've been playing around with it for the past hour. I have to say it is working pretty well for just a beta! Extremely smooth after all of my apps reinstalled, and I'm loving all of the quick settings we can do, like density change just by the click of a button.
Only problems I have though:
-The on screen buttons, I'm guessing you can turn them off when advanced settings works again? but they are just taking up space considering the fact we have buttons already
-When you change the density the recent apps that get pulled up are still the big default size
-Due to onscreen buttons, the HTC's menu button doesn't work...once again could just be fixed when advanced settings are fixed
-Because i used HTC messaging and Camera, i dont have any of my texts or pictures anymore
-lock screen/wake screen has a minor delay
-browser app is kinda buggy
Awesome features:
-The tablet styles...its my first time being able to play around with this
-FINALLY getting rid of HTC messenger app
-emojis on the texting keyboard
-ALOT more!
Im just psyched to have the power of this phone, and not having to worry about HTC Sense! I'll keep playing around and keep you updated, but so far, IM LOVING IT! :good::good:

I installed this ROM 2 times I'm LTE shows 1 bar on status bar for data it comes up 3+ ..I'm throttled at this time on aT&T on there network so hard to tell what 4 g is like but seems to download at good speed no audio of course but overall but I need to play with it more like it so far

First of all the on screen buttons are intentional. You can turn them off in ParanoidPreferences by changing the Nav Bar slider all the way down to zero. Second I am quite aware the HTC menu button doesn't work, if you want to get a "menu" click use the recent apps button but just long press it, and i'm working on that along with calling in the next release. Unless you somehow backup your text messages they won't carry over because you are now using an AOSP rom which has different storage for its data. I'm sorry for the loss of data but its unavoidable switching between sense and non sense. The pictures should still be on your /data/media/ in the sdcard Jellybean uses a new /data/media/0/ if you want to set up some time to talk on irc the #onev-dev channel on irc.freenode.net PM me please. This goes for any and all testers with minor easily resolvable issues
I would like to ask markwoo for some logcats of his device as I am not actually seeing LTE on my device, in seattle at the moment, and I know they have LTE there is a known issue with the signal strength meter and I would like to take a look at it in this case.
In terms of media and audio playing in general Pandora and Spotify seem to work fine with headphones and without.
In addition I would like to let everyone know that bleeding edge development will be kept on the first post at the very top for the time being!
Thanks for being a lloyal tester!

So you're expecting to have calling fixed fir the next release huh. So does this mean there is a high chance that you'll fix this?

it was a build.prop error. I have resolved it. Used to prefer WCDMA over LTE,GSM, etc

[Q] non-phone Eris ROM?

I have been thinking recently about moving on to a newer Android device for a phone, and converting my Eris into a general purpose, WiFi-only Android device, for things like Media center remote control, Portable MP3 player, etc.
My question, basically, is whether or not its possible to completely disable the cellular radio and any other associated phone/mms/3G/2G drivers and utilities. Stripping out all the miscellaneous apks and apps i dont want is the easy part. Removing drivers, disabling devices, and modifying config files is the part i'm not comfortable with yet. Any tips, pointers or links would be awesome.
Is anybody else interested in having a ROM like this distributed on this forum? I can start posting my progress builds on here if there is interest. Otherwise, if something like this already exists, please let me know!
as far as using it as a wi-fi only device you can simply put the phone into airplane mode and then urn on the wi-fi.
Unwanted programs I have used this program (link below)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628138
If your phone is rooted you can use the application manager to erase any app you want and hopefully thats good enough for what your looking for. I
It sounds like your looking to do more that I have knowledge in so hopefully this will help till you get the setup your looking for
When you setup your device on first boot after flashing a rom doesn't it have an option for wifi only connection on setup? Granted you may still have to airplane mode afterwards like said above, not really sure but worth a try.... hope this helps.
Sent from Ginger Tazz 10 on XDA App
I'd be interested, I wouldn't mind letting a youngin use it for mp3 player or something but always worried about an accidental 911 call or something dumb like that
sent from a phone
I think you could take an existing ROM and prune it from them and be happy. Removing drivers or disabling devices ? Not really necessary.... I think if you removed "phone.apk", there'd be no accidental 911 calls made, at least. My first thought was, don't activate it, but you can always make 911 calls as alluded to.
I realize removing the non-used stuff is likely in effort to trim it down to just the necessary stuff, but as I said, it might be overkill.
I've actually been thinking something like this would be awesome for when I retire this thing I say +1

You can re-enable WiFi after you enable airplane mode.
You could always go into the test call mode or whatever the field programming thing is and disable the radio from there. I forget exactly what the number is to call but it's the one that brings up all the field test tools and stuff...there's an option to completely disable the cellular radio.
Sounds like your basically looking for a honeycomb rom. Pretty sure if we just wait a bit we could possibly see something like that soon. I have faith in our devs.
Powered By: GSB CM7 2.1
I am looking for something like this too. I just bought a bluetooth odb2 adapter so I can use my old eris to monitor my vehicle and do gps and music. I'll probably even make a sweet case for it so basically only the screen shows and it could be installed in the dash. It could sync music whenever I am home in range of wifi. Plus with the new google maps "offline" feature, I could cache frequently used areas.
I think you should go ahead and start something of a tutorial. Just start from a good lean stable 2.2 rom and document what you remove/add etc. and what apps work best for something like that.
If you remove /system/bin/rild, (the "Radio Interface Layer Daemon") there is no longer a possibility of dialing any calls, getting any voice or data service, SMS, MMS et cetera.
This is not the same thing as turning off power to the radio, however. I think you would want to do that for reasons of power conservation alone.

If you do that doesn't it also disable GPS except if wifi is on? I noticed that some still want to use GPS and I know that if you disable network GPS only works through wifi

This is an great concept for a ROM. I have also been thinking about this, because shortly I will be retiring this little guy. I was going to give it to my wife because she refuses to get a smartphone and has an mp3 player from like 8 years ago that she refuses to upgrade! The Eris keeps my kids busy when we are out also. This way I wouldn't have to worry about my kids (or my wife) doing something stupid!

Does it work better to remove the line from init.d or whatever? Or do errors finding files not matter?
There is a project underway to do this very thing, keep an eye on these forums and they'll be posting it when its ready for the world.
that sounds awesome can't wait to put it on my eris when i get the Thunderbolt!
and my next phone will have mobile hotspot so whenever I am in my car and away from my home wifi, my "carputer" will have internet access for maps. sweet

I personally didn't experience any of the issues they mention fixing, except for the "Improved device stability reduces continuous resets" which might refer to the bootlooping network problem so many have had.

We may not be able to accept it, as our main ver is newer than this 2.... Update..
A ROM wil be made based on it so all we are missing is the radio. I think I may be wrong.

not sure if they are actually incorporating a radio update in this package or just some re-programming/new code. either way, it's always possible to flash a radio seperately.
Per HTC customer support, this is pushing out today starting at 4pm eastern time. I called them because I am having friendstream issues where the widget does not update Facebook automatically. They said this update may help. Take it for what it is worth.
My firmware is downloading now...
Just updated...I don't notice any difference except the signal bars going from 4 bars to 5.
yeah, just got mine too..didn't prompt or ask to download, it just started automatically lol
it updates while I was at school and I didnt even know. does not seem any different and I lost my root. I do not know if it is still unlocked though

Me neither. I'll be excited with I get ICS OTA. Unless I succumb to the temptation to root between now and then.
I thought the voice quality with phone calls was poor.... tinny, strident sounding especially with high pitched voices. Haven't made a call since the update but that would be a welcome fix.

Auto-updates Verizon Video
I noticed it updated Verizon Video, an app which I didn't update because it was asking for more security rights.
Looks like Verizon Video can now retrieve a list of running applications. If I were the suspicious sort... I'd imagine they would then send these application lists home using the network communications.
I still can't uninstall the thing even tho I will never use it.

I also noticed a Verizon location agent that I never noticed before. if we get root on this version then we can freeze or unninstall Verizon video or any other bloat again.

SlimKat umts_spyder build 3.4 2014-03-04 short review

Hi
I prepared short review for SlimKat 3.4 unofficial build for XT910 UMTS.
I use it for a last few days and my general impression is positive.
But lets start from beginning...
1. Instalation
I use SafeStrap, so installation process is very easy: create slot, install software and gapps, clean cache and Dalvik cache. That's all.
After booting of phone there is sort setup and phone is ready to work. ALMOST...
After next restart phone stops connecting to network and to fix that problem it is necessary manually delete CellBroadcastReceiver.apk what is very easy because SlimKat is delivered with SlimCenter containing SlimSizer when user can delete any app.
So, delete it, reboot and forget about network connection problems. Why this app is delivered with most of KitKat ROMs for XT910 UMTS I do no understand. All of them have the same problem after rebooting.
2. Daily usage
I use it as my daily driver last days and it worked really good. I noticed just one crash when I used Any.do app but I cannot reproduce it so far.
Battery life is good for me - see BatteryLife.jpg attached. On the other hand I was totally surprised when I charged battery to 102% - see Battery102.jpg - really strange.
I turned system to use ART instead of Dalvik and I haven't noticed any problem so far. Every app I used worked properly. Of course app installation time is a bit longer now, but good information is that apps starts faster.
Call/receive calls - not problem. Sound is clean.
WiFi - I haven't noticed any problem with connection/disconnecting WiFi networks. Everything worked good.
GPS gets position really fat, I was very surprised with that.
SMS sending works properly but I still cannot send any MMS message. Nevermind data transmission is enabled. I does not work. To receive MMS data transmission must be enabled. This is the biggest bug I noticed.
Flip actions to dismiss call or alarm also don't work what confuses me. It worked perfectly in CARBON 4.2.2 version I used for long time.
It looks very strange in action: flip down - no action performed, flip up - phone seems to be blocked for some time and after a few seconds you can finally dismiss alarm or call.
Memory usage is much better than in 4.2.2 ROMs. After boot there is used 434MB and free 405MB of RAM with all of my services and widgets started. Great result.
Bleutooth I didn't test. I use it very seldom and it is not much important to me.
What was new for me - used apps display. It is changed in SlimKat - nice right side panel is displayed with list of used application.
Generally I must say that I like SlimKat. It has all options I really need to use it every day. I'm happy with Real dark option which turns system and most important apps into black theme, performance good enough without replacing kernel, ART support without problems and smoothness of GUI.
I hope that strange battery behavior and MMS sending problems will be fixed in next releases
And maybe XT910 will be officially supported by SlimKat team?

Small update:
MMS issue: installing 8sms application solves problem. Probably Messaging app does not resize image and whole MMS message is declined by network as too big.
SlimKat umts_spyder build 3.6 2014-03-09
I performed dirty flash of SlimKat 3.6 over SlimKat 3.4 - no problems.
Everything works as it worked before. I haven't noticed any new problems.
I'm still not happy with bad flip actions support but that this problem exists in every of tested KK ROMs - looks it is general malfunction.
Waiting for new version...
bluetooth
Hi I would be curious to know if the bluetooth works, in particular in the car. also if the bluetooth has any problems pairing and keeping the pair when you change from flight mode to normal, if you have to pair again or not . thanks for the review
Hi
I have tested bluetooth with other phone and headset and haven't noticed any problems. You do not have to pair devices again after going off flight mode.
SlimKat 3.8 upgrade
Hi
I performed dirty flash to SlimKat 3.8 without problems. CellBroadcastReceiver.apk is still delivered so you have to delete it manually to get rid of cell connection problems
After that device works good. Still great memory management
I noticed that problems with flip actions seems to be almost resolved and now I can dismiss call and alarm flipping down my phone.
For calls it works immediately but for alarms I need to perform flip down - flip up - flip down and after some delay alarm is dismissed.
What I'd like to see in SlimKat are Performance options in settings. Of course I can install some app to manipulate processor settings and governors but I think this should be part of system delivery.
And, of course, XT910 is still not supported officially, so forget OTA.
How about slim 4,any surprised?
I used SlimKat for a while and I found it REALLY FAST AND SMOOTH! I reccommend it!
Now I'm installing the 4.0 build and we'll see how it works
the only problem I experienced: when discharging completely to "0%"...my phone resets itself, quite strange/frustrating...
I'm still on 3.8. Yesterday I dischrged battery to 0% and phone shot down correctly , not restarted automatically.
Abou 4.0 - I'm a bit confused. SlimRoms.net does not mention that so far but in changelog we can find 3.10 version: http://slimroms.net/index.php/changelog.
I'll wait a bit
hello
I installed 4.4.2 build 4 and I got the network problem and after i deleted the cellbroadcast.. it worked!! but now i have a problem with the hotspot ;( my brother tried to connect but he couldn't ;( do you know what to do to solve this little problem?
I havent tried wifi tethering before (no need) but it looks problem exists. I also cannot connect to established hotspot (I still on 3.8). I remember that there was tethering problem on beginning of work on kitkat custom roms for Razr device but it was fixed long time ago.

Hello, 1st post here I LOVE Slimkat for our Razr, I've been running the latest updates in slot 1 for months and for the last few days I've run the latest build in the stock slot and love it even more.
But I have to agree that AP / hotspot / wifi tether is not working anymore. It was working fine for a while there -- here are notes in the update log:
29DEC2013 - CM's netd code "hopefully fixes wifi tether" [I think it started working around here for the 1st time]
09FEB2014 - "mobile hotspot fixed" [might have broke again along the line ? ]
In the last 2 builds (20MAR2014 first then tried 27MAR2014 both as dirty flash and then fresh in slot 1), I can create a hotspot but nothing can join. Too bad because I really make use of it, hope it gets fixed again soon
And thx to original poster for posting a quality review of what is one of the best ROMs for our classic spyder.
After a week on SlimKat 4.0 i have to say that it is really solid and stable. Wifi tethering is known problem (reported to dev forum). I also noticed that my favourite governor "hotplug" is no longer supported and battery usage over night is now 4% instead of 2% I used to. I'm not sure hotplugging is supported by interactive or ondemand governors. I think I'll try to use JBX kernel with SlimKat and see how good it is. If you have any experiences, plz share with me.
Whew this guy figured out that the CM11 WiFi AP fix still also works for us:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51713472&postcount=1592
just installed and it's working.
Finally I tested SlimKat with JBX kernel (only battery saver enabled) and I havent noticed any better bsttery life. There was even worse than without it: 5-6% over night consumption when phone did nothing. I also played with governors enabled in JBX what almost every time caused system hanging.
So, finally I resign of JBX and made decision to give another chsnce to Carbon Rom that was my daily driver for months (release 4.2.2).
I must say I'm surprised how good is Carbon now - I remember first 4.4 releases. Everything seems to work properly including tethering. What is quite important for UMTS razor users we can disable CellBroadcastReceiver in settings - no need to delete it and restart phone.
There is one feature I love especially: lockscreen notifications. This is killer feature for me.
What is also important for me, Hotplug governor is enabled in kernel and again I have overnight usage 2-3%.
I must say I'm currently very satisfied with Carbon Rom. Looks it became my daily driver again.

Hi!
I installed Slimkat version 7.0 stable and my cell phone (S3 I9300) lost network connection randomly. Duration of connection is 1 - 2 seconds max. If I delete CellBroadcastReceiver.apk as you say, network connection will be stable, without disconnect randomly?
Thanks!

[Q] no push notifications on wifi with KK

I upgraded my phone to KK back in late december and have been on it ever since but one problem has plagued me since then and I'm hoping to get some insight here. heres the problem...
When im connected to wifi (and this is only with wifi, not MD) I don't get my push notifications (gmail,fb,words, hangouts, etc) when the screen is off.Often i turn my screen on and get a barrage of notifications that i should have gotten hours ago. Ive tried all the sleep modes and Ive tried turning off wifi optimization.Nothing works and I know for fact it did not do this on JB.
I DO get text messages and phone calls instantly though but nothing else will wake my phone up. While i do enjoy the deep sleep, i would like to get my notifications in a reasonable amount of time without having to turn the phone on to check them.
Has anyone else had this "problem"?
Nope. Have you looked into what is and isn't checked in your Google Settings? There's a Play Games tab that allows you to mute certain games, essentially stopping their notifications. I don't suppose you've messed with that, have you?
It's strange, I've not really heard of this, especially since you're getting texts and such.

Yeah i know and I've googled it to death for a few months now. I'll check g settings but idk why that would stop gmail. It's like when I'm on Wi-Fi w/ the screen off its just a plain old dumb phone. I turn the screen on and the notifications just flood in.
Edit: nothing in g settings is muted. The only thing i can think of is i don't have app data synced in accounts.
I think i figured it out. I had "sync app data" unchecked in accounts. So far I've been getting notifications screen on and off. Now if someone will just play back to me on wwf...
EDIT: i may have spoke too soon. It still doesnt wake up without turning on my screen
hey @SteveMurphy do you by chance use the active display?

I did when I was using Omni and it worked great. I haven't used it since running RR, however.
So you're wifi connected, and have actively turned mobile data off? I have never even tried that...
If, however, you mean that this happens only when you're connected to WiFi, then no, I have not experienced this issue.
The only other setting that I can think of that pertains to sync is in system settings > Data usage > settings > [ ] auto-sync data, but I don't think that would cause the awake-vs-sleep sync issues that you're describing.
I used to use Active display, I currently use AcDisplay, I'll likely go back to using the baked-in active display.

No i never turn mobile data off. I just meant that notifications come as expected when I'm on mobile data but on Wi-Fi, once the phone hits deep sleep (<a minute) i won't get notifications unless i turn the screen on.
I ask about active display because i remember when on resurrection ROM i was using it and getting notifications then and kind of forgot about it but I'm on PAC 4.4 now and it's doing it again. However i was using the init.d scripts they have baked in but have them all turned back off now to see if that fixes it.
It's the strangest thing I've seen. It's like when I'm on Wi-Fi and turn the screen off it just disconnects from all data even though i can plainly see that it is not. Angela has the same phone with the same settings as mine but on RR 5.0.5 and she gets notifications fine.
@cyril279 I knnow this is off topic but have you tried this AD app? Its got some other features/customizations that aren't on the built in AD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications
That was actually one of the first active-display variants that I tried. It worked well, but there were a couple hiccups that kept me shopping. The add-on AD clones have great features, but they don't play well with the stock lockscreen, or they leave the [home] button active, or involve significant lag when evoking the notification. The baked-in clones operate fluidly, but without the cool-stuff. I haven't tried active notifications recently though, maybe the updates have smoothed things out. I'm definitely down to try it again.
AcDisplay's development has been re-directed by Motorola. It's still my favorite of the clones, the beta version is boss, but it still isn't as fluid as the built-in boring-ol Omni AD.

Well all my testing so far has lead me no where with the exception of using that app. So far, I've not been able to reproduce the problem while using it. The question is,"what is it doing" to make it work....
EDIT: The app does not fix it....
just thinking out loud herebut, could this be a kernel issue? Im currently using PAC's kernel that comes packaged in the rom. Maybe I should try @RenderBroken 's kernel...?
Edit: Using RB's kernel breaks some of the PAC features and it did not fix my notification issue

PAC uses a modified ramdisk compared to other CM derived roms. Are you only having issues trying to get PAC running on your phone? Is it KK or JB?

Its 4.4 and I have faced this issue on every rom Ive tried since switching to KK. Im starting to wonder if it's not an issue with my wifi. Im wondering if maybe my wifi is suspending my connection when my phone goes quiet.

[SOLVED] Not Receiving Notifications on WiFi
My suspicions have paid off!! I started suspecting my router was the culprit so i pulled out my old netgear2400 and hooked it up and low and behold my notifications starting lighting my phone up again!!
The problem was the Xfinity router that came from comcast. Apparently it was closing the "heartbeat" line to stay connected when the screen was off before the heartbeat would send again, if that makes sense.
For the time being I'm going to just use my netgear router BUT I was able to fix the problem with the Xfinity router by using an app called Push Notification Fixer. Just install it, follow the instructions, and set the WIFI/mobile data heartbeat to the recommended settings. If that don't work start shortening the heartbeat time. It'll make sense when you see the app.
Hope this helps someone else along the way. I went a LONG WAY down the google rabbit hole before I figured this one out.
Great news, glad it was an easy fix!

Great news! Now you just need to install DD-wrt on your router and turn it from a $40 router to a $400. I know you like to tinker but check it out. ITs free and its just firmware for certain routers. It turned my old wrt54g into a baus

I'm having the same issue with KitKat CM11 ROM on my HP Touchpad (which is WiFi only), and will have to try this. Notifications come in instantly on my iPhone/iPads, but my Touchpad gets some serious delays...sometimes right away, and sometimes delayed.
By the way, did "Sync App Data" setting for an account have anything to do with push notifications, or is that more for backup purposes?
---------- Post added at 02:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:04 PM ----------
Oh darn, mine is still delayed even with the push notification fixer installed and WiFi heartbeat at 5min. Even after I've just rebooted my Touchpad, actively using it, and not even 5 minutes has passed. Delay was 8 minutes and then the notifications came streaming in.
With Android/KitKat, do you have to have the app open in the background for push notifications to go thru? Or run the app at least once after a reboot?

Advanced calling is officially online

No need to do the workarounds anymore, if you're on Lollipop now just go to Advanced Calling and activate it!

cool I'm going to delete my workaround if I can figure out how. Wonder if it's 509... And I just read a post on here about stagefright 2.0 ****ing bullshat so our phones are still vulnerable to specialy modified mp3 and mp4- so someone can do remote executions. but so is everyone elses phone...
I do hope this is something positive, not getting to hopeful just yet, have not seen any indication of a OTA yet.

Final build, did you say the or someone else that the .ftf R4C still didn't have the Stagefright patch? I do hope the final release has that patched and the new Stagefright 2 patch as well.
I have beta tested Winders/Linux and other software for years and the final release is well final, may be some bugs still but most are squashed and gone.
This is not my first pony ride, although I have not posted on XDA I have been active in the Android community since the first Moto Droid, just not on XDA.
Have used Linux since Red Hat then Corel days, Google it.
Thanks for the heads up. I was able to activate it from the My Verizon app on stock KitKat. I've never flashed lollipop either

that's interesting so we could have had this all along. I thought kitkat didn't support advanced calling natively that's what I've read and I know our phones don't have dual radios so I don't get it I want to revert back to test it but I will take your work for it. Do you actually have 4g when on a call now. and can you use the Internet while on the phone.

We wouldn't have had this all along because in the my verizon app if you tried to add the advanced calling feature to a line with an xperia Z3v you'd get an error saying it wasn't a volte capable device. It referred you to a list of volte capable devices and the z3v wasn't on the list. I do however do not understand how advanced calling would work on kitkat.... for one thing they're missing proprietary libs for HD video calling as well as the apps and the IMS bootstrap to keep advanced calling on between reboots, but hey if it's working for people on Kitkat that's wonderful news, they deserve it. I'd take it as a good sign that they finally got around to adding volte in their systems, to me that says the OTA is greenlighted and we're just waiting on the beginning of the roll out. What's disappointing is that Verizon is giving us 5.0.2, but hey it's better than what we've had. I'm grateful.
I can confirm mine is working on 5.0.2.
Has anyone else been unable to mute calls that are not HD Voice?
Today I deactivated advanced calling. I believe it was causing excessive noise during Bluetooth calls. I never had Bluetooth issues before Lp and advanced calling. 4.4 was flawless for me
Added advanced calling to my stock 4.4 phone, but I don't get simultaneous voice and data during calls. ?

Not quite -- I'm on stock 4.4 and I've enabled the feature with Verizon, but after rebooting my phone I still don't see an option to turn on Advanced Calling features. (Am I missing them in the menus? Where are they?)

That's the lollipop part. The advanced calling is it's on tab in the OS settings.
Anyone else have issues with activating advanced calling. I select the HD calling in the settings. I get a message that indicates I already have HD calling and that I should restart my phone. Restart and same message pops up when I get a call that I don't have data while on a call.
Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
Solution: had to delete HD calling from Verizon, waited over night then added HD calling from the settings menu. Don't know how many times I've added and removed advanced calling before but waiting seemed to do the trick.

How do i deactivate advanced calling. I have had tons of issues since activating it. I still get a message when i get calls saying no data available, i also cannot enter credit card numbers. I have not been able to successfully enter a card number even once since activating it, every time i am very careful an hit the right keys but it says thats not a working card. I have had no issues what so ever doing that before activation of advanced calling. Is there a way to remove or deactivate it completely or at all?

Just turn it off. There's a toggle in settings... If you're on lollipop.. Which if you're not, I guess you could do it in my verizon add remove features
Well i never actally turned any of the toggles on. I just activated advanced calling thru my verizon app. Since i activated it, i have not been able to enter a credit card number sucessullly, i know that advanced calling feature was the change that made my poblem. Becouse before activating it i never had an issue, but within a couple hours of activating it, i tried to enter my credit card number over phone call and every single time (ive tried so many times since the activation of advanced callig) every time it tells me sorry, thats not the right number. Ive tried with multiple cards, and the same result evey time. I just want to know, besides turnig off the toggles in settings( that i never used or turned to on). Is it possible to deactivate it thru verizon or delete it from my account. Can someone help me figure it out. It has been a huge inconveniance for me. The only toggles i have in settings are one for hd voice and one for video calling, and on above those 2 that is not labled and i figured was to turn advanced calling on or off. I never used it. When i first activated it ,it was done through my verizon app, an i didnt realize till reading more later on here , that there was section in settings for advanced calling. By that time i was already trying to remove it due to my card number entering issues, so i never turned any of the toggles on. Anyone know of anything that i could do to remove the feature completely.
