CM6 Wallpapers - Vibrant Themes and Apps

How could i go about getting the CM6 Wallpapers?

Just download the rom, extract it. Then go to /system/app/ and extract ADWLauncher.apk. Then look in /ADWLauncher/res/drawable-hdpi.
jairomeo did the majority of the wallpapers so you could also go to his picasa.

Amazing thank you, my favorite three wall papers are in his picasa. Much appreciation

No prob. Jai does some really great work.

Adding Wallpaper, Live Wallpaper to Launcher Pro

Whenever I go to change the wallpaper in Launcher Pro, I get only only option, those darn colored lights. How can I add to this list? Also, even though I have downloaded Live Wallpapers, installed them, and have been notified that the installation was successful, I do not see it as an option anywhere. Any suggestions?
Some of the Live Wallpapers might not work, I've had the same issue. But, many of them do work. I personally like the grass one as it's a low graphics footprint.
As for wallpaper, most of the built-in ones are just embedded in their respective apks. you could just create your own 1024x600 images, drop them in /DCIM and you should be able to select them. Or, the Market has downloadable wallpapers, I believe.
Thanks! I could not determine just where to put the wallpaper files. Thanks. Will also keep trying with the Live Wallpaper. I was concerned it was due to a hardware problem.
Still no luck finding a Live Wallpaper that works. Also, the wallpaper I add to the DCIM folder.... what format should it be? jpeg? And do I just put them in the DCIM folder? There are two other folders there, but none of them show up when I try to change the wallpaper in Launcher Pro.
im using launcher pro and running aquarium live donate works great tons of features too

Hi,
Putting a JPEG into /DCIM doesn't seem to work. Any other ideas?

Hi,
I haven't found a specific way to do this, but I did find that if I install ADW, then the ADW Ubuntu theme, both from Market, then, uninstall ADW, I could still use the wallpapers from ADW Ubuntu theme in Launcherpro!
I was hoping I could do that with the other ADW themes, but the ADW Ubuntu theme was the only one that worked ...

How do we use an image as wallpaper
OK, I've tried everying. I have a JPEG and can't figure out how to get it set as wallpaper. Using stock TNT and LauncherPro.

Hit the main menu, choose Wallpaper then choose Gallery. Browse to your picture, select it, drag out the box to cover the entire picture (or most at least) and click save.
Your .jpg picture is now your wallpaper.
I'm having this same issue. I saved a wallpaper and moved it to the root of the /DIM folder. I hit Settings --> Wallpaper --> Wallpaper gallery. There's still only the two stock images in there.
Any help?

Images you add to /DCIM folder will NEVER show up under Wallpapers or Wallpaper gallery. Images listed in Wallpapers are part of the app.
Your images are only available when you select wallpaper from the menu, then choose Gallery. This will load your gallery of photos which you can choose as a wallpaper.

I can't find that option on this ROM. When I select wallpaper from the menu, the only two options I have are "Live Wallpapers" and "Wallpaper Gallery".
Try opening your gallery, find one of the images you want as your wallpaper and long press it, press the "more" at the bottom of the screen and select "Set as" and see if Wallpaper is one of your choices...
The only place I could find the pic that I downloaded is within my "Photos" app and it only gives me the option to share or delete it.
Looks like something is missing in that ROM if you don't have the option to use an image as a wallpaper.
I know this is kind of the opposite of this threads topic, but..
How would I go about extracting the 2 wallpapers from within launcherpro's wallpaper gallery? I actually only want the darker, 'carbon fiber' of the 2 in my phone so I still have it even tho I no longer use that particular launcher.
Thanks in advance!
Live wallpapers are missing on my grab. I can see mywater in Manage Applications but cant get to it/find it on the sd card. Any ideas

Some ROMs (mostly HoneyComb ones, eg.: GtabCombOver) don't come with any Live Wallpapers.
If the ROM does come with Live Wallpapers, then they will reside in .apk file in the /system/app/ directory.
Third party Live Wallpapers, if they are installed, will be found inside /data/app/. They will be found on the SD card only if they've been moved there--either as part of their install or explicitly by the user.
That's helpful. Thanks.

Best gallery app?

Can anyone recommend a good gallery app, paid or free. I installed gingerbread and although I like the new gallery it's just so slow. It never loads all the thumbnails so I can't tell what each picture is without pressing it.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I use QuickPic -- its free on the market. Great gallery app, fast, smooth, loads up images in NO time.
I'm using Gallery+ right now cuz I hate 2.3.4's Gallery, gotta try that QuickPic one.
I use Quickpic. Love it.

Thanks you guys. I will check those out out.

I use to think it was the 2d gallery app, but I can't install it on gingerblur.. so I say quickpic

+1 for QuickPic
will have to check it out; i HATE that the new gallery is all timecode based; i have all my pics (i am a published pro photographer and cameraman) organized meticulously and the new gallery wont let me just see everything in the old froyo file system. plus it is (WAY) slower and will not properly load thumbnails so 95% of my shots (which i keep in full res on the external SD card) show up without a thumbnail or title.
totally unacceptable to me. also i dont do social networking (AT ALL, i call/tango/skype if needed and talk or text but i prefer REAL human interaction) so tagging etc is useless for me.
+982343 for QuickPic
Super fast, and also renders images you use for WALLPAPER without any quality loss; if you set a wallpaper using the stock gallery vs quickpic you will see a stark difference.

yep, i noticed this straight away, with the wallpapers, and luckily quickpic does them perfectly, best gallery ive used.
Is the crap quality wallpaper thing a problem with the atrix gallery app or is it the same on other phones?
You guys are all correct, Quickpic is great. I need to start recommending it to people. Thanks again.

Another vote for Quickpic here... Flashed 2.3.4 a few days ago and I have been more than disappointed with the new stock gallery app. Quickpic is definitely the answer. It organizes everything for you.

Quickpic has my vote! So much easier to use!
Agreed quick pic is great but I also use b and b http://gallery.breadandbuttertool.com/ which has better folder options in certain circumstances imo. Those 2 though are all I need really!
quickpic!!
Quickpic is about the best.
But one feature that they ALL lack is an ability (option) not to recursively show subfolders.
ie, I have a folder called pets, and inside two more called cat, and dog. From the main gallery I only want to see pets and any images in pets. If I want to dig into cat or dog, I want to see those as subfolders. Just like folders in Windows.
If you like the idea of this, send an email to the author of quickpic. I requested this and he likes the idea. He said maybe if more people request it.
Okay, my personal mission aside.
Has anyone frozen (TiBu) the stock gallery app? I don't like it, and I'm tired of it littering my /sd with cache folders all over the place.
Yet another vote for quickpic.
Hey guys. I did a factory restore on my phone for reasons unrelated to the gallery, but when it was done, the factory gallery now works flawlessly. It loads up almost instantly and the thumbnails are perfect. I still think I like quickpic better, but I thought I would let you guys know what happened.

I have tried a few gallery apps because i totally hate the stock gallery app as well. I love how smooth QuickPic is. They recently released a latest version of this app, making pinch to zoom look like eye candy.
Have a look at this youtube link and see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQdOwRCh__g
*Note: This is the old version of QuickPic though....the latest version is WAY smoother.

[3DGallery-Fix][Link]

Anyone else on StreakDroid 1.9.1, notice some of the images in 3DGallery are out of place? this link has a .zip to a nice one that works. I used the old_gallery_high_res_for_stock_camera.zip, had to clear cache after installing. but it seems normal and better. *thinking of doing a honeycomb themed gallery/cam theme* (Gallery Blur background really bugs me.)
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804161
having second thought about gallery/camera, after stock camera dissapointed me today. Will probably end up doing anyway in the next day or so
3D gallery bugs me so much that I pretty much use quickpic exclusively anymore. However, I seem to always be using 3d gallery when showing pics to people because of its Picassa integration. Would love to see you retro fit the app to use the honeycomb city background.
You're keeping notes of all these theme changes right? So we can change everything around to an ice cream sandwitch color scheme when the time comes ;-)
Btw, no link in op.
forget icecreamsandwhich theme, we'll have the whole ROM!

any good suggestions on live wallpapers?

While I patiently wait for root, I have the customization bug, most wallpapers don't scale up to the high resolution screen well, does anyone have any suggestions on some good, colorful, live wp's for this phone? I currently run digital hive and solar winds. Thanks!
Don't waste your battery! lol, I never use those things. You can find regular 720p images in Google Search, DL and use!
I think these are pretty nice:
Exodus Live Wallpaper Market Link
ICS Phase Beam Live Wallpaper Market Link
Light Grid Pro Market Link
Also grab a custom launcher if you aren't rooted and want to customize, customize, customize (Go Launcher EX is great as well as ADW , if you haven't already).
WP Clock on the Amazon App Store is my fav!

Live wallpapers whereabouts

Hey guys whats up?
do you know where are the preinstalled live wallpapers? i want to delete some of them but I cant find them on the main system drive.
Thanks
/system/app using Root Explorer but if you wanted to delete some of them its better to use Titanium Backup
Under System there is a Live Wallpaper Picker APK. I guess it won't be selective though. You can try uninstalling it with a backup using Titanium or System Tuner
if i do that ill lose the ability to put any livewallpapers again?
I haven't tried it so couldn't answer. But that's why you take backup and if you need things back you can restore anyway

Affirmative you will lose the ability. I know it because i had a Samsung Galaxy 3 and they decided our phones weren't powerfull enough to have live wallpapers so they removed that app.
On xda there's was a fix so that we could put it back and use live wallpapers, instead of Bad Samsung deciding things for us..happy ever after...^_^

By the way, that app is not the actual wallpapers. I don't know where the images are but its two different things

the original set of live wall papers of froyo is in one .apk file
but the one like Grass live wallpaper available in CM7.1.0 is little different then original froyo. But not sure... The colors and gradients in Froyo is much better than CM 7.1.0
any ideas?

That grass wallpaper exists in versions of Redhat Linux. Try and google "redhat wallpapers" or something alike
