That doesn't work for everyone, so a more permanent solution will have to be devised.

i've done this mod that exact same way on my aria with 4 different roms with no issues at all every time.
you really just need to save the qwerty.kl file and push it to the phone. reboot into recovery, go to the partitions menu, mount the system partition, push the file via adb, reboot your phone and voila.

I've done that. The qwerty.kl method just simply isn't working for some people.

This worked for me
Couldn't figure out how to add attachments to this post, and it won't let me add an external link since it's a new forum account. google ojwake-signed.zip or something.
Steps: Load file to SD card, boot in to recovery mode, install zip, locate this zip on flash card, reboot.
(ojwake-signed.zip)
Don't remember where i got this, but kudos to that guy!

Just to make it even easier on you
EDIT-Short Version...Download file from link above
-:Have Clockwork Recovery Installed and know how to use ADB:-
-DOWNLOAD ATTACHED to linked post qwerty.kl (may need 7zip to extract file from archive...)
-BOOT into CLOCKWORK recovery with NO USB PLUGGED INto phone!!!
-PARTITIONS>MOUNT /SYSTEM
-adb push qwerty.kl /system/usr/keylayout|adb reboot
As far as I know, this ridiculously simply method of pushing qwerty.kl has worked for everyone except the few that didn't boot into clockwork correctly, once they booted into clockwork correctly it then worked for them.
I updated the instructions to be crystal clear for all you noobs. If pushing a file to your android device is too painfully complicated for you, I suggest you read/search more and figure out what you are actually doing.
Neverwhere10's steps are just as painfully complicated, but at least he is providing some constructive input.
Thanks!
Worthless thread is worthless.

This mod is built into the CM6 rom.

There is also a setting in one of the menus if you are using any of attn1's cm roms for this same thing. I currently have my aria set this way and I am using cm008 as of right now.

If you have not already seen it, or if an application is an acceptable solution, widgetlocker is a nifty program.

[Q] Would a factory reset help or hurt? (botched beta 4-5)

Hey guys. These posts are all too common but I really am distressed here (I'm worried I bricked my phone and don't have technical skill to bring it back to life), and please, any help would be really appreciated.
Here's the last thing that happened before I acted stupidly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15708254&postcount=394
long story short: tried to update to new cwm but couldn't do the step to delete a file in system/etc called install-recovery
I could not find a way to delete the file I needed to delete, install-recovery, I just gave up and thought "well, whatever. I have tenfar's older CWM on my phone anyway, and I never end up NEEDING it because everything goes fine if I follow the directions (ironic thing to think when not following directions).
So I continued following kennethpenn's guide on brief mobile, doing all steps except for #2:
Prerequisites
Unlocked bootloader
CWM recovery
External SD card
Gingerbread zip (download above)
Backup PDS partition
Backup data and applications
Installation
1.Unlock your bootloader
2.Download CWM recovery and flash it
3.Mount your device to USB
4.Put the Gingerbread .zip file on your external SDcard
5.Click “install zip from sdcard”
6.Choose zip from sdcard
7.Pick the gingerbread .zip
8.Install it!
9.Reboot
Click to collapse
I was definitely rooted, and am pretty confident that I unlocked the bootloader, because it took me a long time but I followed all the steps and got all the right responses on the phone and it said (and still says) Unlocked in the upper left corner during bootup, and I learned a lot this morning and was feeling good...
Flashing went fine, until after I rebooted in the recovery menu, and.... boot loops; the M would swirl around, turn dead, come back 3 seconds later, go dead again, on and on, until I did a battery pull
One last thing that I didn't think about now but may be a huge reason for the problem: I was on 1.8.3 but deodxed and running the latest "P-ROM" Ginger Blur.
So I can get into the fastboot, stock android recovery, and like ten other options during bootup. What I want to do is just start fresh because it'll set me back a lot, but right now I just want a functional phone. So can I do a factory reset in the boot menu, or would that just permanently brick it forever considering I unlocked the boot-loader, was themed, etc etc?
Thanks - any suggestions greatly appreciated.
To all the other newbs that love this stuff, but don't really know wtf you're doing, the moral of my story is "follow the directions EXACTLY and if you're unsure that you can do that, then don't proceed.

No, no updates. After posting my question I put all my atrix stuff to the side and slipped my sim card into one of those ugly Nokia bar phones everyone had in the late '90s - early '00s. I was so frustrated that I had to walk away from it for a while.
Thanks for the offer mramirezusa, if you or anyone else could please give me some help, I'd really really appreciate it

I can't wait to have my phone again! It's only been two days but there have been so many times I needed to use it, I never realized how dependent I am on my phone. It's going to be so great, like when you go to a bad camp for summer, and you're hot and covered in bugs the whole time, and when you finally ge back home to all the creature comforts, like air conditioning, TV, computers, video games, microwaves, etc, and you feel like "this is absolutely amazing!!" and appreciate everything anew

download and unzip in a new folder the file in the following link:

Accidentally flashed the wrong clockworkmod recovery to my Galaxy Note

Hi,
I accidentally flashed the wrong clockworkmod onto my phone (brushed the wrong phone type). I'm still in the booted up phone and am afraid to reboot it. What's the best way to fix this screwup? Ideally, i'd like to either flash stock recovery without undoing phone settings or install the proper clockworkmod recovery, which I can't find on the phone list. Here are my phone specs:
I'm on android 2.3.6 kernel 2.6.35.11, build GINGERBREAD.UCLA1.
Thanks!
Battery pull, go back to download mode, flash the correct CWM. The new/correct one should overwrite the old/incorrect one.

Noticed the "CWM" thread above. Downloaded the ZIP file and installed with Odin. How would I verify that I now have the correct one installed?
Yes Flash with Odin. I am using Beta3 and all seems well with it. No FC's as of yet.

I DID flash the recovery-i717-cwm-b3.tar file. The I tried to execute a backup from the app - it was so fast, i could tell it didn't work. I rebooted the phone and used the menu system in recovery mode to do the backup. I also noticed that the recovery "menu" was much shorter than the one in my Skyrocket. Is this CWM ROM just far enough along in development to work properly with the app? If this is the case, what functionality should I avoid using in the app?
John
Most if not all of the functions work great so far. No FC here. Remember, Its still in beta stages but its coming along.

Wrong CWM recovery on LG Vortex
I used ROM Manager and flashed CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 to my Vortex running 2.2.1....now I am stuck in recovery after attempting to flash CM7, but the Home button (or any other button) will not work to select the highlighted option. I am doing research to see if I can find some kind of option to fix my mess up but it is not looking good. I had to take out the battery, hold volume up and power and home while i plugged in the charger just to get into recovery because i was stuck on the splash screen. If anyone can provide assistance on this I would be very appreciative.

due to many different variances and carriers of this device, it is just a bad habit to get into o follow threads for a wrong device. even flashing files from different variances can be catastrophic.
may I ask or suggest maybe there are multiple carriers for your device and simply have a different model# ? that would at least get you closer to the center of the dart board.
although XDA is high on my list as far as trusted developmental websites, there are several other forum communities. maybe you could run a search for that if you haven't?
I will help if I can and plenty others will. again, even though problem may be similar, the solution may not and I am sure you know these device aren't cheap. I would hate for you to take your phone o beyond repair.

Thank you for a decent reply. Currently I am rooted with Photon Torpedo, bootstrap MOTODX2, with MOF 2.3.5 slim DeBlure. It runs very nice and everything works great. I just play with my phone alot, and seems you have to boot to go into boostrap recovery. Then plug into ac charger and run recovery. I am unable to just go straight in recovery from reboot. Or by holding low volume/power doing boot menu. Which means if something breaks, I have to SBF and go thru the whole shabang again. Unless you know another way.
Thank you again

pretty odd. it has worked for a few others who messed up the system. that's all it's really intended for. that's why i listed the link that the person above posted in the instructions. mine is for "soft bricks" or messed up systems. as for "hard bricks" it won't do anything because you've messed up more than the system. that's when you have no option but to flash the only 2.3.5 SBF available, which isn't even for the photon but the electrify.

Webtop is installed unless you deleted it. I had trouble with it once after a soft brick. Had to factory reset to get it to work again ):
If you don't have a media dock but you do have an HDMI cable you'll need to modify some system apps to make it work. I have info on MotoSunfire.com in the mods section.

[HELP] Emergency

Help! I was using Carlos' unlocking the bootloader guide against my will, because I love stock. And turns out karma has gotten me. For some reason my recovery wasn't installing on V20B, so I flashed back to V20F, factory reset, re-rooted, installed busybox, flashed the artas recovery... And yet my recovery STILL isn't showing up. The boot animation is inverted and the touch screen is still "messed up." I have a backup on my external SD card that I can use if I somehow get recovery functional. It's just the stupid recovery won't work and I need it to work lol. Any help? Please?! By the way, I've done an emergency flash using LG Mobile Support Tool and that didn't work, so I'm still open to suggestions.
I've been very helpful to everyone who's asked me for help, I'd like for others to be the same to me. Thanks to whoever tries
go back into recovery then make a backup in tar format then reboot into recovery and check for your files.

I don't have recovery. It won't flash. I have stock V20F without anything but a messed up screen.
Have you tried installing recovery using the L9 recovery installer app?
Also, for the wonky touch screen, it would help a lot if you enabled "Show touches" in the developers options tab~

That's what I'm using. Full busybox install and it still isn't installing.
You needed to be rooted to get recovery.

you need this busybox
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitcubate.root.busybox.complete&hl=en
I never had a problem with the other, but others have, but this one has worked for everyone.
If you have root, just fix the wonky touch screen the old way (through adb)

Can you upload the apk for that? I can't type due to my phone's screen. And how do I do it through ADB? I don't even know how to use ADB, as embarrassing as it sounds. I could never get it to work. But I'm willing to do anything now.

First fix the touch screen, hold up I'll send you all the info,
Another thing, I hope you already have adb debugging enabled
Wait a min, you have everything you need if you tried to unlock your device
Inside the root lelus folder is the adb
You know, if you go to link for robert busybox on your pc (and sign in) it will send it to your phone, to download
1. Go to the root lelus folder (should be on your c: drive) and open the "stuff" folder
now, hold down the shift key and right click with your mouse, you should see an option, to "open command window here"
This should open a cmd up where the adb is at.
2. Open the cwm_ts_fix_p769.zip and go into the system folder and copy the v6.bin to your external sd
3.now type
adb devices (in the command window)
you should get a number with online status. If you don't it's because adb debugging is not enabled
4. next type
adb shell
su
your phone will ask to enable it, good luck on enabling on the wonky touch screen
okay, type
cat /storage/external_SD/v6.bin > /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/firmware
note if you put it on the internal storage, type
cat /sdcard/external_SD/v6.bin > /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/firmware
this will cause the shell to freeze.
so open up a new cmd (hold shift key & and right click inside the stuff folder) and type
adb reboot
hope this helps, if you need a better guide, lol just ask, it will take me awhile though

I don't have internet connection on my phone lol. We have FIOS and the router password is a WPA and it's like 14 characters long, with like 4 Q's (Near impossible to hit with mirrored touch screen. Trust me. It's a science of its own) I just need the apk, I couldn't find it anywhere. And okay, for the adb, how do i fix it?

I've got my backup back, but my screen is still mirrored. I'm flashing the touchscreen fix for now, but if this doesn't work I'm at a loss.

So I have to flash again?

Has anyone got the TWRP Recovery to work??

Has anyone successfully gotten to TWRP Recovery to install for their Omate?
I have tried to do it using GooManager, but it says it cant find it.
I have also attempted to do the alternate methods but cant find a scatter file for it ?
Is there any tutorial on this that has worked for anyone?

I installed TWRP on my TrueSmart this morning via adb while booted to Android. Rename the file that you download to twrp.img and then do the following:
adb push twrp.img /sdcard/twrp.img
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/recovery
Done.

Thanks for the info. I now have it installed.
But when trying to do a backup it says( Failed )

Kernel does not have support for running this application.
I was having the same issue. Did exactly what Dees_Troy suggested and it worked like a charm.
Thanks!
Now to wait for roms, because the stock one blows so far.

Ouch!!! I can always take Operative and instead of a 100MB file make it +600MB file and call it a "ROM" if it will help.

Try running the backup again. If you get an error, adb pull /tmp/recovery.log without rebooting and attach or paste the log to a paste site.

Sorry, I have a fairly high standard of roms at this point.
Dont want to go too far off topic, but I've had some issues with bluetooth (pairs, doesn't stay connected, thus making the companion app useless), battery life, etc.
I may have to run tasker scripts to emulate some of the things I want it to do with notifications and turning the screen on. Finally, if I install a new launcher, it'd be wonderful if it didn't cover up the notifications bar.

It was built from broken, crappy Umeox firmware so better battery life, memory management and pretty much every fix or improvement came form me. Like I said I'm done so no offense taken.

I don't have yours installed. Mine is just running completely stock firmware right now.
And it sucks that you're quitting. Your build looked to be the one thing that might make the OS on this thing worth using.

If I had the expertise to do so, I would be inclined to do so. Sadly, I'll just have to settle for reporting bugs and making feature requests and being happy to have my device at all.

One final question here: I have been using apps like goomanager to reboot into recovery, but how can you enter TWRP straight from turning the watch on.
Is there a key combo that needs to be held when turning the watch on to get right into TWRP? I tried holding down the bottom right key and that did not work.
Hold both keys for 10 seconds then toggle to recovery

This, but your battery pretty much has to be fully charged or else it will just flash the Omate logo on the screen for a couple seconds and then shut off.
