[Q] How does the dell streak lock actually work? - Streak 5 Android Development

So I bought my PayG Streak from 02 the other day.
I knew it was locked to 02 but I figured someone smart enough here would find an unlock.
I have the mental capacity to take on such a task myself but Ive never attempted it before.
I put a T-mobile sim into my streak and it asks for network unlock but if i Hit cancel it takes me straight into my fully working phone (bar the sim).
So my question is, How is the Dell streak locked? Is it via a chip or piece of hardware inside the device? or is it purely based on the ROM side of things?
Considering I can get into the phone and use wifi etc without the sim would it be possible to create a bit of software that executes and enables the sim to work? every time you reboot the device per say).
And Is anyone in here actually working on this? I'd like to know to share idea's on exploiting the device to allow any sim.

Checked and there is nothing regarding unlocking Dell Streak.
Just spam from spences10
PS: admins delete please this advertisement.

No it doesn’t say anything about unlocking the DELL Streak but it does explain the difference between ‘root’ and ‘carrier unlock’ maybe I should have been a bit more specific in my reply, I am in no way affiliated with www.theunlockr.com and was just trying to be helpful as I recall an explanation between the two on there.
I could only put up the main site as that is all I could remember if it wasn’t any help next time try this www.Google.com

Hang on a minute youth, thats a bit harsh! If you go to 'Unlock my phone' they tell you they can unlock almost and phone. Its definately not spam! Its definately worth a try contacting these guys to see what they can do for us Streak owners.
Well done spences10, thanks for contributing to the community

Opps 2.1 on Dell streak

Recently I am going through almost all the post regarding Dell streak. And at Madaco there was this newbie who claimed to have 2.1 on his streak ( now that sound funny), a newbie with 2.1 lol  anyways I think almost everyone including some senior members may I include Paul as well  have given him hard time .Finally every one asked him to post the pictures of his streak and guess what he posted his dell streak.
Everyone’s jaws are still on floor
Here is the link http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-2-1-for-streak-is-coming-closer-than-before/
Sorry for being sarcastic
Edit Just checked it this guy even said i have Built 6267 1.6, he put pics of that as well
http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/314140/new-rom-v-6267/
I think this guy is 2 steps ahead from all of us or may be 3 people who are still on 3xxxx
He said he has a friend who is working on the Streak development team. Seems pretty legit to me.
Don't count on him leaking it though as he "doesn't want to ruin his friends career", which is pretty good of him tbh. I don't think i'd have that level of self control

Considering the Dell Streak Development team consists of about 8 people, don't you think it would be Dell's priority to see which dev's friend is leaking images? They did say they are active on websites concerning the Streak.
I wouldn't have that level of self control. Release it please!

That is the great thing about HTC their images leak on purpose.... Dell is not handling this well at all, but what choice do we have for a 5" device?
Dell Streak "UI Team" has 8 people. His contact could be someone from one of many, many people working on the Streak.
why do the only allow six icons on 2.1
Creating system.img for 2.1, is it possible?
Is it possible to create a system.img based on 2.1 or 2.2 from android sources for Dell Streak? Has anybody tried it? I don't need the Google propietary parts, just to OSS part...
Has anybody tried? Any reference docs for it?
Thanks in advance,

I'm trying it now again, now I'm back..
I'm trying the codearoura git, basic instructions on their site..
https://www.codeaurora.org/xwiki/bin/QAEP/
also have a look at the cyanogenmod wiki for some decent building instructions, that can be adapted.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Building_from_source
plus theres this
http://pdk.android.com/online-pdk/guide/build_system.html
so far not playing nicely, and progress is hampered because I can't get fastboot boot to work (which is a way of temporarily flashing a kernel and ramdisk) so I have to manually flash the boot.img every time it doesnt boot.

Im talking about the mindset of the developers.

Didn't you already start a thread about this HERE albeit with a different title? I think you should start a third thread on this same topic. Maybe you will magically get the phone unlocked if you do? You have now started SEVEN threads in 48 hours. Keep it up and you may break the record!
Also, had you searched, you would have found multiple threads on this and maybe you could have found your answer there. I guess it is fashionable to keep on starting new threads on repeated topics nowadays. Go HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE!
In case you lose track, below is a list of all your threads. Every single question you asked has been answered many times on this forum and the answer can be easily found with a simple search.
1. hi
2. which root method
3. unlock my x10
4. fw n theme question
5. if i flash will the sim lock be gone?
6. flashed to .24 now its really slow....
7. new imei # after repairs...how do i get this unlocked
thank your for organizing all those threads for me batman very helpful, i'm glad you have took a liking to me you have saved me so much time
the next thread i start will be dedicated to you and your greatness
OMG this is purely spam.... How come someone creates so many threads in so short time... It's like tomorrow he'll wake up and notice that the X10 has a lock screen and will ask what's that for?
Come on stop posting useless threads.... Do some research....!!!!!
I think this should be brought to the Mods Team......

I do not like you nor do I dislike you. But, exercising common sense from someone who is old enough to use this forum is expected. Didn't the fact that your threads have been largely ignored by the more helpful members on here give you a hint? When someone has a real or new problem everyone who can offer assistance usually does. After all, this is the point of having this forum.
However, when you keep on starting repeated/useless/ambiguous threads they will either be ignored by the members or closed by the moderators. In any case, good luck with whatever it is you are trying to find.

Best thing to do is call the people who repaird your phone tell um the old phone was unlocked and they send you a locked phone and you need unlock code they should be able to provide you with that code

Samsung GS2 sim unlock root - not working for me? :( PLEASE HELP

Does anyone know of a fix for this? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Try asking here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092451&highlight=unlock
Also there is this post, for a second trial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106496&highlight=unlock
You need to actually give us some information before we can start to help. Explain what you're trying to do, and how you're trying to do it.
Some newer SGS2's cant be unlocked using that method, or so people say.
The app linked above worked perfectly for me.
I have just got a brand new replacement from o2 today and I have tried the SGS2 unlock app and it hasn't worked it keeps saying "No unlock code found "
I really need it unlocking or it is uselsss :/
O2 give unlock codes upon request - they started doing it a couple of years ago. It can take a little while though, but at least it will definitely work.

If the phone is O2 branded, then they supply you with the unlock code, not 3.

Hi,bro
each n every question's answer is on google than why is this section made for

i'm here for professnal's answer
thanks
1. I'm not your "bro".
2. XDA Developers has its own search engine. The information is out there, but you have to search for it. I provided you a link anyway despite you not searching for it first, and I get what you posted in return. But tell me this: how do you expect to learn anything if things are handed to you on a silver platter? I provided you the links, but while there are hundreds of people on this forum that can help you out, in the end you still need to learn to do it on your own. Better that you start now, rather than later.
3. Watch this handy video. It explains certain site rules in a manner that anyone can understand, especially the site rule about searching on the forums before you post.
4. 293 posts at the time I write this versus your 5. I believe I know just a little bit more about the Streak than you, and I am the person who provided you with a link to start with. You know, the link that provided you with guides on how to do what you wanted to do?
5. There are few professionals here. Most of the people on these forums are simply end users who have the know-how to make their Streaks that much better. Most of your responses are not going to be from professionals, and if you're expecting professionals, then this site is not for you.
Any questions?
If you want a "professional" answer call Dell. Ok I'll wait for you to get back with that answer......................................................................................................................
On second thought I don't have that kind of time.
OR you could actually read the info at the link provided. Of course most of that info is from amateurs, but those amateurs use the Streak everyday.
I called to dell they said that I have to give the streak to dell serviec center they will update it,but I can't give b'coz service center is 700 km away my home
Plzzzz help me if u can

All the links you need were already provided by Strephon. If you can't learn how to do it from there, you're better off not even trying. You'll brick your phone.

You didn't hurt me. You pissed me off by expecting the answers to be spoonfed to you, and then went running to another user on a totally unrelated thread begging for help because you didn't want to take the time to click on the link that I provided you.
I am not here to provide one on one tech support. If you want that, I charge for the privilege.
The "right links" you want are in the link I provided back in the second post of this thread. Click on it, start clicking on the links in the page that pops up, and LEARN.
