[Q] Question: Is there an app like this? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, go easy on the n00b please...
(if this already exists, I am going to feel stupid, lol)
What I want is an easy way to set the phone so the call ring volume is up, but the notifications are all silent. Sure, I can go into my emails, and text apps and do it manually...but I was wondering if there is an app that does this in one step.
Also, going a step further, is there an app that allows you to set caller profiles? Like, say you want to silence the phone for everyone but one or two people at nite, for example, or when you are taking a nap(like us old folks do, lol)
Thanks in advance!

May have answered my own question. It looks like Tasker will do this...

Thanks DS36, I will check that out too!

I use "volume control" and its great. Allows you to set individual volumes for system, ringer, notifications, media, alarm, and in call. You can also create up to 3 custom volume profiles.

I'll look into that one too, thanks!

[Q] Requesting help with Tasker script to activate Vlingo SafeReader

Ok so here is what I would like to have accomplished if possible.
I would like to setup and event in Taster so that when my phone connects to my cars bluetooth it will activate Vlingo's SafeReader function and then turn it off when my phone disconnects from it.
When ever I receive a text from someone have Vlingo start listing for a command to reply to the text. This part I can set, but I would like to have the function delayed for a few moments so that the SafeReader can read the text first and I dont know how to delay actions in tasker.
PS, I know there are other ways to have the text read aloud, but I actually prefer Vlingo's Text2Voice feature as it sounds more natural and less robotic.
Anyone have any ideas how to active either a widget (Vlingo SafeReader widget) or a feature in an app through Tasker?
Any help is appreciated.

Funny, I just did a search today to find out how I could do this exact same thing (activate a widget in Tasker, in fact, activate the same widget you mention, SafeReader). I'll follow this thread. Hope we find an answer.

I also posted this over at the Tasker forums in hopes to get some help.

Did you get anywhere with this? I'd like to do the same thing.
I am able to launch vlingo using android scripting inside tasker by calling com.vlingo.client.safereader, but it does not actually enable safereader. Perhaps there is some argument that needs to be passed?
Strike that. I'm not convinced that my script actually worked now.
I had previously had a load app step in that profile that loaded vlingo. I deleted that step and replaced it with my script, but I suspect that Tasker was still calling the app with the step i had removed, even though the profile had been saved. Oh well...
I want to do something simpler... activate the "tap to speak" feature by pressing my bluetooth headset's talk button... any ideas?

Any details on how to do this would be appreciated, I use tasker a fair amount, but have not gotten into scripts yet.

Super Silent Volume Control for HTC Flyer (free)

Hi guys,
I recently updated my app, Super Silent, to let you use the volume buttons to control all volumes, except for alarms, at once. A big reason for that feature was because on the Flyer, the volume buttons only change the media stream, so notifications become a pain in the ass to adjust the volume.
So because of that I'm releasing this version of Super Silent for free to the HTC Flyer and View users in this forum.
Here's the exact same version as in the market. Please don't distribute it outside this forum though. If you think another device would benefit greatly, let me know and I'll consider letting them in on the fun.

If anyone here bought the app before and would like a refund just send me an private message with your user name and order number so I can check that you actually posted here in the past.
THANKS. I always left my tablet on silent for just that reason. No notifications were better than hearing every new spam that hit my inbox all night long.
This is so helpful thank you so much !

Custom SMS Tone on WP8?

WP8 gives you the option to change SMS, email, etc tone, but I want to use my own sound. Anyone know if this is possible on WP8?

would like to know as well. Thanks!
Unfortunately no. You can only use custom ringtones. Txt, voicemail and Email have to use one of the canned tones. That and the ability to not have unread text or voicemail repeat notifications. My phone is also my pager and when on call, I need this to go off mored than once to wake me up most times. I'm hoping to find an app to address this but for now, these are about the only things I really find annoying about the phone.
Returning for Android
Well after searching for an app to allow custom tones for messages, etc to no avail, I've decided to return the phone and go back to Android. Not only are the options there but there are also better apps such as SMS Popup which I can't live without when my on-call rotation comes around again.

Simple, my phone is also my pager and when I am on-call for ~ 2,000 Windows servers, if something goes wrong, I need those pages to wake me up. Something the stock one-time-only tones won't do. I know I'll do well with Android, used it for a few years but had hopes for WP8. Perhaps future uprades will provide basic functions/features Andoird and to some extent Apple offers in their products.
Still nothing on this? What the F#$k is wrong with MS? Since MS can't or wont' can we get Nokia to do this, I mean they are doin all the work from MS anyway.

[Q] Audio Profile Manager?

Hello soprry if this has been asked before but i couldnt find it through search
is there any way in an i9300 or android to have a centralized profile manager for ringtones and notification sounds where you can modify every apps ringtone options like i remember the blackberry had? this is so i dont have to go into every app to change the sounds (i think if i want the same sound i can modify it on the launcher setings and set apps to default, but if i want a diferent one for each app i have to open each app and change that) what im looking for is and app that has a list of, for example, all IM apps anc modyfy its notif sounds either individually or in lots, the same for calls, emails, videocalls, etc
heres is a screenshot of what it looked like in bb

Try Google

[req} Call Screener / Answering Machine

Hi All,
So this idea is from a Sanyo flip phone I had way back in the day on Sprint. Granted, it's not the most useful thing in the world, but it would be nice for times when you want to know why someone is calling before you answer the phone.
There was an option where after 4 rings the phone would answer play a locally stored greeting, then record a message locally. Now, the helpful part to me was the fact that (unless I hit a button to mute it) it would play the outgoing and incoming messages where I could hear them. Being this was several years ago, it couldn't play it over Bluetooth, which with better technology on both the device and headset ends, that would be possible. (My Motorola Elite Flip, for example)
But I'd like to see it go a step further, and make this a full featured answering / auto response system.
Say you're driving, and someone calls you, you hear the message they're leaving via your hands-free (either in car or headset) and decide you need to take the call. Instead of pressing a button, just say "Answer it". Or say "Ignore it" and the answering system would mute, the phone audio would return to whatever you had on previously, be it music or sat nav.
Similarly, if someone sends you a text, you could have it read to you on TTS, then the app would ask "Would you like to reply?" You could say "No" and the app would send a canned message ("I'm driving. I'll get back to you soon." or something similar), or say "Yes" then dictate your message by speech recognition.
With this, an auto filter would also be handy. Numbers not in your phone book, or numbers you set as black list, are automatically sent to the screener, while other contacts are not.
I think greetings should also get some options as well, like the option to have different greetings for different callers, or different caller groups, and the option to either record your greeting, or write one to be played to callers by TTS.
I've seen apps that do bits and pieces of this idea, but nothing that consolidates them, and the apps I've tried don't work very well, and they don't have the right feel. This app should be something that would feel like it was included stock on Android. Clean, simple, and intuitive.
Anyone interested in a project?
Apologies for any typos. I can't find my reading glasses.
Just sign up for a google voice number. It has call screening and press 4 for recording mode.

Some of the places I go for service calls are out of range of a data network, and if there is one, it's only EDGE, which isn't really going to work for GV. I used GV for a short while and wasn't very impressed with it.
Take Nokia mobile ...
The only one have this options.
With choice to transfer call to any no even ...

Nokia's are good devices, but Samsung is better. Wish I could get my hands on one app that can do what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for an app which will let me:
Say someone phones me. It rings a couple times then they have to say their name. I will then hear their message of their name and can choose to ignore it or answer it accordingly.
Is this what this app is?
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
Part of it, yes, although they would be able to leave more than just a name. That part would function like an onboard answering machine.

Good idea!
I was recently looking for an app that did this but i cant find a decent one. I had this feature on my first color flip phone back in the day and i wondered why it wasnt available today. Its really useful. Im not a developer or id be heping you out with this project please let me know if you ever make it happen. Good luck.
I think with android limitations ...u cant play the greeting to the Caller. So i guess the app would be for rooted Phones only.
..Even with a rooted phones.. An app wont do the purpose. becoz u need to to do some framework changes.
I think u are going to need a MOD which can be flashed from recovery.
I am ready to donate for this app or Mod. or do it my self if someone guides me with some Links ..+1
