psx4droid - Legend Themes and Apps

hi, guys! Since I´m new here, this is my first post. Pls don´t think I´m totally nuts posting a topic about the psx emulator in the htc legend section...i know that this app has been designed for high-end phones...but there are some games that actually are playable even on the legend.
I´d be interested in what games run at acceptable speed on this phone and the plan is to create a list to share our experiences
pls use this template to share your information. (i´ve stolen it from a thread in the nexus one section...i hope the author doesn´t mind...)
oh...and when i say a game has "good" performance then don´t expect it to run at full speed...cause i mean "good" performance for the legend

A very useful guide. Will try out some of the games mentioned above and will give feedback. Keep up the good work.

I'm glad you like it I would appreciate it if you helped expanding the list.
Everyone else has been ignoring me so far

I've been sceptical about the emulator running on Legend. Wanted to try it by myself but I was scared the it might be a waste of time. Been searching around if Legend its playable on Legend and you provided the answer. The Legend community is pretty small and everyone else is preoccupied with custom roms and all. Will certainly do that.

It feels good to have helped someone but don't expect all games to run that well or you'll get disappointed. There are lots of games that are too slow to be payable at the moment. Maybe there'll be some updates in the future to make it better and who knows....maybe things will get better with froyo..

bump!
How else is everyone getting on with psx4droid ?

Wow...another post after almost one month of silence...gg

got psx4droid yday, playing through ff7 atm, run s pretty good, slightly slow, but all things considering its very playable! 1 thing thats irritating is when trying to hold x to run it sumtimes goes a diff direction

finished FF7 on psx4droid. advise: get a PC PSX emulator for the underwater/ submarine level. just before going underwater, save on the world map via the ingame menu, not the save state, and transfer that save/memcard file to the pc psx emulator, finish that part from there, save again, then retransfer back to the .psx4droid directory in the sd card. that's also how you basically kill the emerald and ruby weapons. also the same for the first fight with the ultima weapon

Cool!
Which phone are you guys using? And thx for the tip concerning the submarine level!

nobody have tried roms on i5800 galaxy 3???

this is the htc legend forum...
-- Game --
Tested: Diablo
Version: Pal
Format: img/eboot
-- Phone --
Model: HTC Legend
Modifications: Rooted
Software Version(s): 2.1update-1 and 2.2
--Compatibility--
Working?: Yes
Performance Summary: Playable
Performance Details: Disable Sound! Speed depends on firmware, 2.1update-1 was better than 2.2 (maybe because i use a very early 2.2 rom).
Speed is like 70-80% on 2.1. 50-60% on 2.2.
eboot Version was unplayable!
Game should work perfect on CM6.1r1
Known bugs: Menu is very slow.
--Misc--
BIOS: SCPH1001.bin
Notes: Tested on all Versions from 1.2-1.7

Have you guys tried using Psx4droid v2?
The latest updates dont seem to work on the legend...

GT1 & 2 tested with Desire Z, both are unplayable. Works fine, but SLOW! About 30% from original speed, so in driving game, its disaster.

Ok, thx ! I'm already tried on My Legend too... it's crazy ))

what roms do you guys use? I can't get it work on cm7 cyanogen nigtlies or is it sayed that it won't work on that rom and I just don't know it

nice guide... will try it out.. looks fun

Just a heads up: psx4droid now is available for free on the developers website.

Android on HD2 video

Hi Leo Users,
I am considering buying this phone but I need to see how well it handles in android.
Can someone post a video using one of the most recent and more working roms? I want to get an idea of how well it goes.
1. What is currently not supported on the leo?
2. Does all of its ram get ported in android or does it use only a smaller part?
3. What about the camera? Is the camera app using the camera to it's full potential?
4. Video playback? Does it play hd?
5. Is a nand installation of android possible?
Thank you!

1. For each Android distro out there it says in its own topic what's working and what it is not. I know it can't record video in HD 720p.
2. As far as I know, Android uses all available RAM.
3. There are still some issues with the camera, mostly because improvements are still made to native Android phones. I doubt you will use the camera like that. I don't consider it a low point.
4. Video playback is really good and it also plays HD. I tried with some Youtube HD videos and they were ok. Haven't tried with a computer encoded fully fledged HD. I know that there are video players on Android Market that can play all Xvid encoded videos out of the box. Just copy it on the SD card and you are set.
5. At this moment, NAND installation is not possible. There were some major improvements done and I think it will be possible to be functional at some point.
6. I would add the fact that HD2 can run a lot of Android flavors because it can launch them from within WinMobile. This is something you can never achieve with a native Android phone.
7. Battery drainage is still heavy. Every day something new is discovered on how to improve battery life.
I see you own a Wildfire. HD2 is a lot better that it. I read it on a Romanian tech blog, an editor made a comparison between native Android phones and HD2.

FPse Amazing!

Finally FPSE psx emulator has been released and runs amazing on, at least, my Defy UK 2.2 overclocked to 1,2Ghz.
If you like psx forget psx4droid and try fpse. Almost perfect emulation
Vagrant Story doesn't work on fpse and does on psx4droid v.2. So not as compatible IMHO.

Sorry to tell you're wrong, one of the biggest point of Schtruck's emulators is compatibility.
For FpseCE (so on windows Mobile), we've tested about 350 compatible games (and full speed on an HD2) for only some 10 not working games.
Maybe porting to Android broke the compatibility for a very few games, but it's juste temporary.
have you tried to activate Synchspu for Vagrant Story?
EDIT: if you are curious, here is the compatibility list of Fpse on windows mobile, I'm pretty sure the same will be for Android very soon or already is. (note that if you can't see a game in the list, it's just that we did not get feedback for it, not that it's not working)
http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=101
Well I can tell you it does load but freezes after new game start and gets stuck on now loading. I did try sync spu before but no luck. I'm going to try to patch the game disc to remove protection and see if that works. Even if it does, you can load the same disc on psx4droid no problem. But hey, this is early build, so I'll reserve any further judgement until it's fully established. Should have been Beta release if ask me though

Well I patched vagrant story to remove copy protection, and is now loading. There's some sound issues, but it runs much better than psx4droid. Tried parappa the rappa, the cut scene videos freeze, but in game seems good. Looks like a winner. Needs auto copy protection by-pass and better sound emulation, but hopefully that will come.

Does it work on a stock Defy (2.1 and 800mhz)?
No, at the moment it only works on 2.2 or higher

Plus requested fixes people asked schtruck
To sort out.
The new colour fix will sort out the red, blue bug.
Schtruck tested the main games with the bug.
The one's I asked him to,metal gear solid,resident evil 2,
And final fantasy 7.
And the colour problem has been sorted out.
Any questions
You need answering
I be glad to help.

There's a sound issue on Vagrant Story I would love to see sorted. The sound you get with spu sync not selected is lacking in effects and clarity. However, when spy sync is selected, there's a glitch with the footstep sound effect where it makes a loud crack. Apart from this, the sound is fuller and echoes can be heard which is not in effect with spy off. If the footstep effects in spu sync mode is fixed, that would be mostly excellent!

MY CM7 Tablet Tweaks Review

This is (was) a request for some feedback/review of the CM7 Tablet Tweaks rom for Harmony/Gtablet. Also which files do I install and whats the entire process that was taken to get the market working and which Gapps link did you use? I've installed a few roms so far but reading some of the CM7 forum post i've been hesitant to install CM7 due to some of the old bugs I read about.
I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028088
but I believe there have been updates to the rom files and not sure which ones to install.
What does or doesn't work with this CM7 Rom? I know video acceleration isn't working but can you still play 720p video through software video players?
What are benchmark scores?
What bugs have been found?
Is it stable? ie. random reboots?random freezes?
EDIT:
So 71 views and I just decided to take the dive into cynogenmod... Totally easy install.
I don't know why I was scared.
Just installed CM7 nightlies 41 check cyanogenmod website for link Look for HARMONY nightlies
with Tablet Tweaks theme apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041588
Installed also Pershoots latest GB kernel 1400mhz
Brief install instructions-
1. Flash nightlies 41 zip via CWM
2. Flash GAPPS.zip
3. Flash Pershoot Kernel for Gingerbread.
Reboot and should boot quick.
All benchmarks run at 1400mhz max
SmartBench - 4564
Quadrant - 2225
Linpack - 51.463 mflops
Will post video showing actual Video playback and Game playability. Feels silky smooth so far guys.
I'm liking the Honeycomb theme which looks amazing.
Thanks Cyanogenmod team for such an amazing ROM.
Not working-
Video recording
HD video playback not working- fix is to use different players, sometimes this fixes the issues
Sound Playback - have to plug/unplug headphones in order to make speakers play sound
Camera takes pixelated pictures
Some games not working - Minigore (Must have)
Touch screen is jittery when playing games involving 2 virtual joysticks
Some apps just don't work with the Rom, IE.. Quickoffice
[UPDATE]
I was going to do a short video but no longer have my camera (long story)
Last minute thoughts before wiping
- without video acceleration it makes the G Tablet for me unusable, I love the HONEYCOMB theme, seriously it looks awesome but all that good paint on the outside without allowing me to use the video capabilities to their max/video performance is a deal breaker now for me. I will be back to CM7 once the video issues are fixed.
*Goodbye Honeycomb Paint Job*

Samsung Galaxy Player 5 - Video Series

I'll be doing a lot of videos showing off some neat features + abilities of the SGP to YouTube.
I don't have everything filmed so far, but here is a quick unedited video showing off the stability (well, you can trust I've used it @ the speed longer then that) of the SGP5 clocked @ 1.5GHz and the profile that was used.
I'll be doing a ton of videos showing off key aspects of the device and it's potential and be adding them to this post here.
Enjoy! And I'm open to suggestions!

1.) Quick video showing the SGP5 @ 1.5GHz (100-1500 scaling- ondemand)

2.) A video showing off emulator performance of the most popular emulators.
COMING SOON!
3.) A video showing off pushing the SGP to it's graphical limits with Shadowgun and Modern Combat 3.
COMING SOON!
4.) A video of useful apps for the SGP5
COMING SOON!
5.) Suggest something!
Nice idea, it would help a lot of people trying to decide what to buy, our device or an iPod Touch.

Considering buying one, have some questions

Now that ICS has been released i have a few questions for current Mediapad owners that hopefully will help me decide if want to get one
1) I know that the mediapad is not the benchmark leader, do games like "temple run" and "wind up knight" run smoothly on it?
2) Is the native android SIP (internet calling) enabled in the final ICS version?
3) I read a lot of complaint out the touchscreen sensitivity. Has it been fixed in the latest ICS build?
4) How the web browser?
5) When you connect your mediapad through the HDMI out, how is the picture quality?
Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

1) yes.
2) no. At least it isn't exposed in the Huawei native phone app.
3) still the same, at least compared to the last beta build. Not really a problem though. But the jitter is more pronounced in high resolution setting (basically it will set the dpi to low, thus would look like 10" tablet scaled to 7"... Everything is smaller).
4) never encountered any problem. You can also use other browser like Dolphin and it would also be accelerated (basically Dolphin runs very smooth in ICS vs laggish in Galaxy Note).
5) looks low resolution (unless for portrait apps). So basically the same as previous build. I haven't use HC, so I don't know how much better it supposed to be, but compared to Galaxy Note, the note have better image quality but everything run more sluggish when using HDMI compared to mediapad which run very smooth but at lower resolution (and probably lower color depth also?).

1. Never mind the benchmarks, everything I've thrown at it runs smoothly (the likes of GTA III, DeadSpace, Shadowgun, Six Guns, and so on).
2. The client is not included.
3. I'm using hi-res mode and don't have any problems or annoyances.
4. I'm using Opera and it works great. Stock one is not causing any trouble either.
5. Not tested yet. Sorry.
Thanks guys!
For the screen issue, does it mean yo sometimes have to tap twice on items when using high res mode?
I also read on some forum that there are issued with Skype video on the latest release. Con someone confirm?
I will download the system files and see how to enable the native SIP client. It is normally a setting in the framework-Res.apk file.

As long as you have steady hand/finger while tapping and light touch then it shouldn't be a problem. The biggest annoyance is when you play something that need steady aim like angry birds and shooting games (contract killer or other games that you basically need to hold your finger at the screen steadily) because it will be jittery. It isn't that you can't play it, but it definitely add an extra challenge to the game. Skype issue is mostly on the skype itself. I haven't tested it yet (on the official build), but I read in skype forum that some other ICS devices also have this green video problem.

Not at all. However, everything is about half (two thirds maybe) the size when in hi-res, so if you have (very) large hands it might be a problem. Like rurou said "like 10" tablet scaled to 7""...
