can't google sky map - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

why can't install google sky map on android 2.2?

It would help to know which Android 2.2 build you are using...
Sent from my HTC HD2 running DarkStone HD2Froyo v1

I am having the same issue with installation of Google Sky Map. It seems to be the ONLY application that I cannot install... and trust me, I've tried 'em all. (NOT LITERALLY...)
Anyway, I'm using the "MattC" build of Android 2.2, with HTC Sense.
I have installed all of my paid applications, various "out of market" apps, and even other Google certified apps.
I'm not too sure what the issue could be...

that's not only cannot be installed.

It work for me
(ShubDRAFT froyo still can't unmount sd card, anyone has solution?)

i'm curious...why unmount? isn't android itself running from sd-card? doesn't the app nedd to be from and onto sd-card? sorry, i'm quite new to android on hd2

(Flying with tilt sensor skiwompus not so easy BTW)
Also, remember to remount after install. Worked so far on every I app I've had a problem with.

Install the program "Auto Mount" from Market and remount your SDcard.
It's because of this feature in the latest version of Sky Map:
1.5.2: Move app to sdcard (Android 2.2 users)
p.s. Sky map is not working properly because the compass sensor is not auto callibrating.

haha is easy...on froyo

Thank you sir !

Everytime I unmount the SD card and try to install Google sky map, I get a message saying "there is not enough space available to install the app".

I was having this problem on my Nexus 1 running CM6. This trick worked like a charm. Thanks!

I didn't have a problem installing Sky Map, but the "aim at a spot in the sky" function doesn't work. It's stuck pointing where it was when I started the app and doesn't turn.

Is the G-Sensor function of your phone disabled? You might check to see if there's an option or script to enable/disable it, either in settings or an app. (e.g., gScripts) Sure sounds like it.

[Q] Pocket Legends

'hi ppl
Just wondering, has anyone got Pocket Legends to work on your HTC Legend handsets? I can't find it on the market, and when I try to install the .apk, it just says I don't have enough space...
It is working fine on my Legend. Clear up some space and try installing it again.
When I try to install it, it simply won't!
Azure, most recent. "Application can't be installed" (Translated from dutch this is) I have 50mb free internal, and 2,4gb external. It won't install on either.e
Try downloading from another source. Maybe the apk that you have is broken. I had that issues with some apk, but I redownload and everything went fine.

Could you please post a link to the .apk you used? That'd be great
Glad to hear someone has gotten it to work.
I got the same message (about insuffienct space) when trying to install Angry Birds, until they released the new version for lower res devices, so I was afraid it was the same problem.
I'll keep working on this then..
Thx
hmm, well I've tried 4 different .apks now and I have +60mbs available.
I'll wait and see if it turns up in the market at some time.

yup, still running stock android 2.1.
I haven't read anywhere that 2.2 should be a requirement?
Well, i just read elsewhere that it needs upwards of 110 mb to install, guess i'll wait for froyo with apps2sd...

It needs 100+ internal free and OS 2.1 with GL 1.1 to run, according to the FAQ on their forum.

Don't think so. Anyone playing? Add me - Rajasyaitan. This game is awesome! Lol.
Has anyone got it on an unrooted phone? I suppose it would install direct to SD on 2.2 which would negate the whole size issue.
It is kinda insane since I can find it on the market on my wife's x10 mini running 2.1, but not on my Legend...
Noob question: stock 2.1 does support openGL, right?

works fine on unrooted phones + doesnt need su + is available on the market + supports app2sd but app 2 sd says it only needs 12,9 mb space, i think the 110 mb space are for caching reasons.
It's not in the danish market for Legend. It does show up for other phones, but not Legend.
Installing the apk from spacetime just gets me an "insufficent storage" message.

Ive seen a video of it running on the nC but I can't seem to find an APK that will work.
This is the apk that I was able to use. It's for Earth 1.0, but it's working at least.
Here's what I did to get it to work:
-Have Superuser and Astro installed on the NC.
-Have a microSD card (regular, not the nooter) loaded into the NC.
-Copy the apk into the SD card.
-Install googleEarth through Astro.

uninstalling and reinstalling is the key... thanks!
Is it definite that 1.1 doesn't work?
Interesting, I tried loading the latest version from the Market and it just sits on the splash screen. There are menus, prefs etc, but nothing more than the splash screen.
Just tried to reinstall it, same.. Maybe I'll install the version here, although honestly I never saw much use in Google Earth on the phone, even though I use it a lot on the computer.
Ha, and I think farking with Google Earth rebooted the Nook, I didn't notice when it happened but my Uptime Widget showed 7 minutes uptime after I uninstalled it trying the above..
I installed from Market and got the splash screen. Res was a lot smaller than the actual NC screen. filled about 2/3 to 3/4 of the screen. Anytime I tried to run it though it froze and wanted to FC. Just wanted to try it...no real use for it though so didn't try again after uninstall.
Hey that's cool it worked! We'll see if the update in the market breaks it... brb.
Odd, I couldnt even find it in the Market to update. But it works, I'm happy.
Also, Google skymap runs, and sort of works, it can tell pitch and roll, but its a hardware limitation (check it out for yourself)...
So we HAVE to load this via astro? Cant just use adb to load the apk?
This Google Earth apk works just fine on my 1.0.1 Nook
The apk above this post worked fine for me. Is there supposed to be 3D structures in Google Earth, or is that asking too much for this device?

GPS Navigation Apps--Copilot, Sygic Navigation

Just wanted to report that although the new Copilot updates no longer work with the nook color (imei issues), the Sygic Navigation app (formerly Sygic Aura) now works as it no longer requires internal GPS. I used it on my Nexus S before I took the phone back and then asked them to switch devices. I now have it running on the Nook Color using the Beta 3.1 with the .32 overclocked kernel. The device code used for Sygic is generated from the sd card being used. I also still use the older Copilot apk that doesn't require imei. Copilot works well too and probably better with more up to date maps. And $5 is a better price than what Sygic Navigation costs.
Can u describe exactly how u made Aura run on your NOOK?
With version 3 I didnt have any luck.I installed app from market, I downloaded maps, but when it starts, it gets me back to homescreen.

You need to use an external GPS, enable bluetooth, and also download GPS bluetooth provider free from the market. Turn on your GPS device, enable bluetooth on the Nook Color, and then start the GPS bluetooth provider app, and finally launch Sygic Navigation. It should open now.
I'm using Bluetooth GPS and an external GPS. I also bought and loaded Sygic but, when I start Sygic, the screen goes black, you can see the arrow in the bottom tray then the app closes and returns to main screen without any explanation.
Running CM7.0.2 from sdcard. Wondering what might be the difference in that yours is working?

Is bluetooth enabled? Did you start bluetooth gps? Did you get a satellite fix? Differences between your setup and mine: I'm not running off sd card, running 3.1 beta with the .32 oc kernel. It is my guess that running CM7 off the sd card is causing the problem.

It doesn't. You'll have to find an older version (.504) or try Sygic Navigation. Here is a link that may help with the former solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1051972.html

Question - I've got Sygic loaded and it FC with the older version. Opened it after reading your post (thanks) and it worked - asked for email pw etc. Then it asked for product code - ?? I think this one was bought ( might have been free - don't remember) but it came through the Android market and as such does not come with a product number ( looks like a registration number). Is this number located somewhere in a file folder?
Thanks for any help.

Navigon works fine on the S2. It does not navigate to the door but to the middle of the street. Also you have to download the map directly via the phone as the PC software does not find the phone. I preferred Navigon over Sygic as it writes the next road on the display. Have not tried Co-pilot but this is one of the highest growing apps.
Non of them though seem as good as Goggles navigator but no offline routing yet :-(

So if you switch phones do you have to pay again? or just re-download from market? re-register?
I hear the registration part is long and cumbersome when switching phones.
I only ask because I buy new phones all the time.
Thanks
Navigon is best Nav for now, Sygic most beautiful and Copilot most recent maps.

In my eyes it's way better than any other nav app out there, totally different league than Google Nav for sure ... TTS is the best I have heard compared to other nav apps, it has way more features, like Live Traffic, Clever Parking, Route Planning,Reality View (Real highway signs), Simulation ... etc etc.
Btw, Navigon Fresh on PC finds my S2 just fine, no problems there.

Not sure if this will help, but this is how i was able to get it to work.
If you (or anyone you know) has an android phone, install the apk. to the phone. Update the app if it isnt already updated. Donwload the data. Then, move the data from the phone SD card to your Nooks SD Card. It should be saved under Android-data-com.eamobile.nfsshift_na_wf.
I will say that after I did this, i had to reset my Nook to get the app to notice the data, but it works fine now.
Hope that helps.

This is because his phone has a PowerVR (like the NC) gpu while yours probably has a qualcomm or nvidia. You need the correct type of sd card data.
I bought this an was really enjoying Shift until I had to re-image the NC.
Now, I have an odd issue. In the Market, I can't even see NFS Shift. However, on my other NC, I can see NFS Shift and can download again if needed.
How do I get my re-imaged NC to see it in the Market to re-download?
Thanks!

The android market is a fickle thing. I flashed the same ROM (CM7n253) to multiple Nooks. Only one of them won't allow me to download Google Earth because it's "incompatible." The only difference between the devices is that I assigned them unique IMEIs. I put "Blood and Glory" on my NC and I was going to put it on the others only to find that it doesn't show on the market. Checked market website and sure enough it's listed as "incompatible". Checked my NC and now it's listed as "incompatible" too. Good thing it's a free app, I just titanium backed it up and loaded it on the others. I really wish android market had an advanced mode where you could ignore it's "compatibility" settings.
I'd also like to have a way to gift games (a la steam) cause I would have bought a lot more at the holiday sale if I could have just emailed the codes or had it open on their markets.
apk and data from a Droid X
I installed the apk from my Droid X (which I purchased) along with the data but when I attempt to start the game I get an error message that says "Error (Airplay v4.3.10 [2599558]) S3E_DEVICE_PHONE_NUMBER: This device don't have a phone number!".
Thoughts anyone?
UPDATE: The game starts after I click off that error message. However, even though the game will see the data from my previous game play from my Droid X (money, experience points, etc) it still displays the message "If you want to purchase the full game." even though the copy off of my Droid X was purchased. It also doesn't let me change tracks either so I'm stuck on the Tokyo one.
