GPS Navigation Apps--Copilot, Sygic Navigation - Nook Color Themes and Apps

Just wanted to report that although the new Copilot updates no longer work with the nook color (imei issues), the Sygic Navigation app (formerly Sygic Aura) now works as it no longer requires internal GPS. I used it on my Nexus S before I took the phone back and then asked them to switch devices. I now have it running on the Nook Color using the Beta 3.1 with the .32 overclocked kernel. The device code used for Sygic is generated from the sd card being used. I also still use the older Copilot apk that doesn't require imei. Copilot works well too and probably better with more up to date maps. And $5 is a better price than what Sygic Navigation costs.

Can u describe exactly how u made Aura run on your NOOK?
With version 3 I didnt have any luck.I installed app from market, I downloaded maps, but when it starts, it gets me back to homescreen.

You need to use an external GPS, enable bluetooth, and also download GPS bluetooth provider free from the market. Turn on your GPS device, enable bluetooth on the Nook Color, and then start the GPS bluetooth provider app, and finally launch Sygic Navigation. It should open now.

I'm using Bluetooth GPS and an external GPS. I also bought and loaded Sygic but, when I start Sygic, the screen goes black, you can see the arrow in the bottom tray then the app closes and returns to main screen without any explanation.
Running CM7.0.2 from sdcard. Wondering what might be the difference in that yours is working?

Is bluetooth enabled? Did you start bluetooth gps? Did you get a satellite fix? Differences between your setup and mine: I'm not running off sd card, running 3.1 beta with the .32 oc kernel. It is my guess that running CM7 off the sd card is causing the problem.

Please give me link for 3.1 beta then.
I have tried also running the app from emmc and I had also gps fix, but I always get the same situation:just back to homescreen.
Also I have read somewhere that it doesnt work with Android 2.3.3.Maybe this is the problem??

The CM7 .32 kernal beta build which you can get from the first page of the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960537 is 2.3.4. http://kan.gd/ixm

Other Navs
Was looking through some other threads - many additional offline map apps are discussed here. Downloaded Mapdroyd - seems to work CM7. Bought Navdroyd ($7.20) which also has navigation via GPS. Downloading maps now so I'll let you know. BTW - both of these work offline.

Just took a drive around hte neighborhood - works great, good directions, fairly accurate. Using Gsat bluetooth GPS and Bluetooth GPS

It doesn't. You'll have to find an older version (.504) or try Sygic Navigation. Here is a link that may help with the former solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1051972.html

Question - I've got Sygic loaded and it FC with the older version. Opened it after reading your post (thanks) and it worked - asked for email pw etc. Then it asked for product code - ?? I think this one was bought ( might have been free - don't remember) but it came through the Android market and as such does not come with a product number ( looks like a registration number). Is this number located somewhere in a file folder?
Thanks for any help.

why can't install google sky map on android 2.2?

I am having the same issue with installation of Google Sky Map. It seems to be the ONLY application that I cannot install... and trust me, I've tried 'em all. (NOT LITERALLY...)
Anyway, I'm using the "MattC" build of Android 2.2, with HTC Sense.
I have installed all of my paid applications, various "out of market" apps, and even other Google certified apps.
I'm not too sure what the issue could be...

Install the program "Auto Mount" from Market and remount your SDcard.
It's because of this feature in the latest version of Sky Map:

p.s. Sky map is not working properly because the compass sensor is not auto callibrating.

Thank you sir !
Everytime I unmount the SD card and try to install Google sky map, I get a message saying "there is not enough space available to install the app".
I was having this problem on my Nexus 1 running CM6. This trick worked like a charm. Thanks!
I didn't have a problem installing Sky Map, but the "aim at a spot in the sky" function doesn't work. It's stuck pointing where it was when I started the app and doesn't turn.

Is the G-Sensor function of your phone disabled? You might check to see if there's an option or script to enable/disable it, either in settings or an app. (e.g., gScripts) Sure sounds like it.

Hi does anyone know if navigon or know of an offline navigation software which works with the s2?
Also, what happens when you buy a new phone? Can you just redownload and use or do you need to purchase it again?

Navigon works fine on the S2. It does not navigate to the door but to the middle of the street. Also you have to download the map directly via the phone as the PC software does not find the phone. I preferred Navigon over Sygic as it writes the next road on the display. Have not tried Co-pilot but this is one of the highest growing apps.
Non of them though seem as good as Goggles navigator but no offline routing yet :-(

So if you switch phones do you have to pay again? or just re-download from market? re-register?
I hear the registration part is long and cumbersome when switching phones.
I only ask because I buy new phones all the time.
Thanks
Navigon is best Nav for now, Sygic most beautiful and Copilot most recent maps.

Navigon 3.6.0 works perfectly fine. I never had a real need to navigate through a door though ;-)
In my eyes it's way better than any other nav app out there, totally different league than Google Nav for sure ... TTS is the best I have heard compared to other nav apps, it has way more features, like Live Traffic, Clever Parking, Route Planning,Reality View (Real highway signs), Simulation ... etc etc.
Btw, Navigon Fresh on PC finds my S2 just fine, no problems there.

I need to go into Menu\ Settings\ Wireless and Networks\ USB Utilities\ Connect storage to PC then the SD card mounts as a Drive letter rather than being connected through KIES. Navigon Fresh is now working I would never have looked had you not said it worked, thank you.

Hello, going through USB Parameters and mounting the SD card, Fresh is able to see my internal S2 memory (16go) and my SD card (32Go). I decided to install the map to the SD cards but when I try to start Navigon it fails. It ask me to download directly with WLAN and not with Fresh !!!! But making that I'm not able to decide wether I want to install the maps (Internal memory o sd card).
How did you reach in installing the maps on the SD card with Fresh ?
Thanks a lot for your help

Maps and Navigator trouble... =\

Hi guys,
Well... I have installed recently CM7 6.5 and Kernel 18.1. I changed the kernel version (to v18) because of the big battery drain and i can't use Maps and Navigator!
I don't remember if i tried it with Kernel 18.1, but when i open these apps, they keep loading, and loading, and screen's light turns off and nothing... they don't run!
I have tested other apps, and they run normally, the trouble is in these two apps...
=\
Someone have a solution?
Obs.: I have installed street view too and i don't use 3G.
Thanks!
Nobody knows about it?

Well... i closed the app and when i tried it again, a problem appeared. I can see only the last map charged... if i search for any adress, it keeps charging, and charging, and the new map doesn't appear. In the navigator, the app can't find my location...
What curious case! Anybody knows what i can do to fix it?
Thanks!
Obs.: I can reflash maps several times and it works until i closed it, after sometime running the app.

You need a WORKING DATA connection, period. You can prefetch some 10 "maps" (IIRC 10 miles diameter) in latest versions to avoid that.

Sygic - Aura problems !

Hi !
I'm a razr user since 5 days and i'm really satisfied with this device !
But......my Sygic - Aura navigator doesn't work with it.
Black screen when trying to load the maps.
I've tried to manually download base files and maps , i've tried also to copy files from nexus one to Razr....but...nothing happens.
Black screen then home screen.
I'm not able to get Sygic work.
Anyone else with this problem ?
Report that to the Sygic developers. It seems a sort of incompatibility with SGX or with the RAZR resolution.
Make sure you are using the latest version. I had a similar problem when I used a slightly older version.
Works fine now

[Q] BT GPS without mocking locations?

I own one of the first GNex devices with crappy GPS. I have a GPS in my car, so that wasn't a big problem.
When I started to play Ingress, I used a external BT GPS Receiver (Holux 1000c). It worked very well, also inside of buildings.
Since 1.18 update of Ingress, the game doesn't start if you enable "mock locations" in the dev-options, to prevent cheating. I'm not a cheater and if I would be one, there are much easyer way's to cheat then modifying a external BT GPS.
So, is it possible (with root of course) to use a external GPS without enable "mock locations"?
I have the exact same problem using CM 10.1 nightly for the SGS i9000. I am trying to use a TomTom Wireless GPS MKII as an external GPS Provider. I have found a posting in the development area for this device.

So, it seems like it was possible to use external GPS in CM10 without using "mock locations", but now it isn't anymore. I have to admit, that I do not know whether this is a Cyanogen Mod related issue or a general Android 4.1 upgrading to Android 4.2 issue.
I was installing "Fake GPS location" and copied it to /system/app. It works without "Mock location".
So it's possible to use a different source then the internal GPS. But I don't like to fake my location, that would be cheating.
I'm running AOKP.

I also tried to move the app "Bluetooth GPS" to /system/app but this doesn't work, since this app wants to actively enable "mock locations". Perhaps someone builds an Ingress friendly bluetooth GPS App, that works on rooted phones.
I was looking further for additional information regarding the "gps source" setting and wanted to share my results.
At first I was searching Google and found a lot of forum postings here from people missing this feature but never got an answer what happened to it. (At least as far I can tell)
Then I luckily found the patch which added external GPS support to CM a year ago and with it I found the blog of the developer who has made it.

Cuong - Android and my External Bluetooth GPS patch said:
I've got some questions from users asking if I'm going to port my patch to the latest Cyanogenmod. Since I don't have access to a Nexus device, the patch will probably take some time. I can only test it with an actual device.
I'm also exploring the Windows Phone 8 platform which currently has my attention.

So there are two options: patching for ourselves or beg Cuong to do it for us.
I installed CM9 as a second ROM with Boot Manager.
I changed the GPS provider to the external source, and it works with ingress, without problems. Now I can set my resonators accurate again.
The only thing I have to do is reboot, to activate the other ROM. Thats okey for me.
Hm, no Boot Manager for my Samsung
I went back to CM10, my TomTom MK2 works like a charm in Ingress.

First, you have to pair your Bluetooth GPS Mouse with your phone.
Then you have to go to the location settings in system settings. Scroll down! There is the option to choose "GPS Source".
(I hope, I described the options with the right words, since I have a german phone, it says "Standordzugriff" and "GPS-Quelle")

Oh, I see. This feature is missing from CM 10.1, but is available in CM10.
So is there any solution for those of us either without CM at all (rooted but native Nexus 7), or with CM 10.1?
I am having this problem too, for gNex, now even if I use CM10.1 it still dont have GPS source selectable
It only works with CM10, not with 10.1

Anyone got an idea how to solve it for cm 10.1 ?
I really want to use my external bt mouse over the crappy inbuilt gps receiver
Seems like there are no updates on this topic, are there?
I also miss this (to me) killer feature... :crying:

i have exact the same problem. my internal gps is broken and i can´t use the bluetooth gps device on my lg p880 | cyanogenmod 10.1.2.
i won´t use any cheating tricks to get it to work, so looks like, that we have to wait
That's something that I can't grasp... I'm trying to use those FakeGPS apps for android, but to make them work without the Mock Locations enabled they say I need to move them to system/priv-app folder... Someone please have mercy on me and explain how to do it. I'm moving the apk file and it's an installer, obviously. What to do then? Tried to install it from there, it installs as a normal app and still requires Mock Locations. If I don't reinstall it from this new location, then the shortcut on the home page just doesn't work... i just can't grasp the concept. Recommendations with the apps come so that as if it's a well known and obvious thing how to do it - not obvious to me at all for some reason. You, on the other hand, have done it apparently. So maybe you could explain to me what is that's so obvious and I'm missing. Please...

Is there some simple something I'm missing, do not delete the right folder or something?
