gmail as default mail app?

I use gmail as my default mail app on my phone. I have it set up to get email from two of my other email accounts and push it to my phone.
Under the contacts on my phone it has a part under each contact to view email conversations with them.
The only problem is that it will only show email from the mail program and it will not show the email from the gmail app. Is there a way to change this to show my gmail emails?
Also is there a way to compose new email in gmail on the hero using a certain email address for its reply. So I can use gmail to collect my email from all my accounts but if I want to send an email from a certain account and not my gmail, can I do that?

Mail widget

Is anybody else having problems with the mail widget not updating when mail is received? I set up my email using the stock mail app. Then I added the mail widget to the desktop. The notifier tells me that of have new mail but they never show up in the widget until after I open the mai l app. Or is that the way it is supposed to perform?
There is new mail on widget, but it on the top. You need scroll down list of mails by your finger.

The only mail in my inbox is new mail. I usually delete it after reading. So there is no older mail to scroll thru to get to the new mail.

Stock mail app

Is it just my View or is the stock mail app messed up. I have a shortcut to the mail app on the home screen. When I get a new email the notifier tells me and the mail icon on the home screen has a number on showing the number of new emails. I tap the mail icon and open the mail app and instead of showing the messages, it says no mail. I have to open the mail app and then tell it to refresh on order to see the email that the app notifier has told me that I have. Is this how the stock mail app is normally?
Are you using gmail or some other mail provider?

It is a pop 3 account with the mail app. My gmail works great.
Mail app is fine on my end. Exchange, yahoo, hotmail accounts. Mail icon pops up on the notification bar, open the mail app the emails are sitting in the respective inboxes. Do you have auto download messages checked in the settings?
Yes it is set to auto download and I have the peak and off peak download time set tot he same. I also tried checking the Refresh on open but that didn't help either. I removed my pop account and set it up again and that didn't help either. I don't know what is going on with it.

[Q] Email Contacts in Text Messaging App

Is there a way to only show mobile contacts in the messaging app? I keep texting email accounts by accident.

Notification Badges not working on same apps

Hello xda community,
Recently I have jumped back from iPhone to android and decided to buy mate 10 pro - I have been loving it so far. There is only one issue I can't fix no matter what:
Notification badges (count) doesn't appear on 2 email apps I use: on Inbox and on Outlook.
I have tried everything. I have set power options so that these applications have all permissions, I have checked the in-app settings to see if everything is enabled there, I have checked that notifications are enabled for all emails within the apps and I have long pressed the home screen, went under notification Badge app icons and have set Badge display mode to Unread message and gave that permission to all apps.
After doing all that, notification badges appear on messaging app, SMS app, Dialer - but not on my two emailing apps.
Is there any trick I'm missing here. I work with two email accounts alot, so if anyone could help me resolve, or tell me if the badges work for them would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Leafberry
The first suggestion I'd make is that you amalgamate all of your mail accounts into K-9 Mail and forget about the double-handling.
I can tell you that the badges work with K-9 Mail, though if there are more than 9 unread messages, the badge will be a single white dot in the centre of the badge background. Is this what you're experiencing with Inbox and Outlook, or are there simply no badges applied to the icons whatsoever?
I haven't tried either Outlook or Inbox on my Mate 10 Pro but I'm currently using this email app which I have been using it since I had my iPhone 5s and it works great. I'm running over 10 email accounts within the app and it's been great so far.
And regards to your problem, the badge works fine for it as now I have 31 of unread emails.
I can't post a link as I'm a new member but you can try to download the app Play Store. The app is in Beta stage:
Email - Fast & Secure mail for Gmail Outlook & more (Beta)
