O2 Splash Screen...no pun intended - Streak 5 Android Development

I don't like the O2 splash screen with the stock Uk rom. How can we have another? Discuss...

Also if i may since we're on the topic of US Streaks and 2.1...
i had an unlocked (00) oem version, now my version is 21 since the update. Is there a way to get that back to 00 since thats supposed to stand for unlocked.
Im using my Streak in Canada and working fine so far with 3g on Rogers.

It's quite easy to do, you need Root Explorer from the market.

Thanks...very easy...easier than they originally posted.

[Q] Official 2.2

Ok, so I am confused.
I bought a Streak directly from dell back in August. Without an ATT Plan. Just the phone.
I later on updated to O2 1.6-> O2 2.1-> Steve 1.1.1-> Steve 1.3
All was good. Till I decided I wanted to go back to my original build after seeing that 2.2 was out for Streaks bought directly from Dell.
So I followed the instructions in the "Upgrading & Downgrading" thread and got back to ATT 1.6
Only when I check for an update is says there is not one.
Now is this because it's not out yet for anyone, or because I'm using the ATT 1.6 that the "Upgrading & Downgrading" thread supplied which is not what was originally on my phone?
Hopefully you can understand my confusion.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Basically, as far as I can tell, the update isn't out for the standard US streaks bought on the original launch date. It appears the Beta units have an update out, as do European Unlocked Streaks. So for now, its the waiting game. I've heard the date of Dec 3rd for USA Streaks, as thats when Best Buy says Streaks purchased there will come with 2.2
So my phone is still considered unlocked even after flashing the 1.6 in the upgrade/downgrade guide? I guess this is my overall concern. I'm worried that what it calls the ATT 1.6 is an ATT rom and not the rom that my phone came with straight from Dell.

will it be possible to flash a non-carrier firmware in the future?

Just wondering, if Motorola release the phone unlocked/non-carrier-branded in 2011 will it be possible to download that firmware and convert the phone to an unlocked/unbranded one (without rooting) ?
Well... i don't recall seeing anything about them selling unlocked phones themselves in 2011. I know there's word going around that they're looking to unlock the bootloader by the end of the 3rd quarter this year... but that will basically just allow you to use different ROM's, eliminating MotoBlur if you'd like. I don't imagine a modded ROM is capable of unlocking a phone, but i've never really looked into that.
Ok, would it be possible to convert a Bell Atrix to an ATT atrix then?

if you're just talking about putting AT&T firmware on the Bell Atrix, then this is one of these things that we don't really know whether its possible at this point in time or not, but people are working on finding out what the limitations of going cross-carrier firmware are.
if you keep an eye out on the development forum then you'll see as soon as anything is concretely known.

Difference between uk atrix versions???

I have just purchased an atrix non contract on vodafone. And I just wondered what the difference between my atrix and the T-Mobile and orange uk versions.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
The T-mobile don't have 2.3, the orange does. So I guess only software related
Mine is unbranded, so what the he'll would mine be classed as? Lol

There's a 60+ page thread on the moto forums where Orange users are complaining about the lack of Gingerbread.
Hello, I'm an italian customer (carrier Vodafone) that have an Atrix sim free-retail buy from Expansys, running version.4.4.35.MB860.Retail.en.GB with Froyo 2.2.2. I'm still wait the release of official (????) gingerbread from Motorola, but i'm extremely frustrated by the lag. I read the guides, there are a possibility to unlock with gingerbreak and install a gingerbread-based rom (like kenneth penn's stock) rom? It will work fine in Italy? what radio i have to use? Sorry for the questions, but there are information for At&t, orange uk, but few for UE users.
Yeah im in the same boat as you. Its the 4.4.35.GB version. Nothing to do with vodafone. Im going to try another sim in it as I have got a feeling its unbranded. Because there is no voda boot screen. And I havent read anywhere else about a vodafone upgrade. So is there an unbranded one or are we just left on froyo? Because that makes no sense having all this power and not being able to update without rooting.
don't get me wrong, I love rooting, my desire had to be rooted. But this phone is awesome without having to do that.or at least I thought it was. I totally dislike iphones but at least with there updates its to everyone, everywhere. Not carrier based.

Debrand Lumia 920 EE

Hello guys,
Just managed to get my UK EE Lumia 920 unlocked.
What firmware must I download to 'debrand' my phone?
i.e what firmware do EU/UK Unlocked Lumia 920 use? and what is the latest version? Thanks
I just had mine too. would love to debrand it. my firmware is rm-821_eu_euro1_342. i'm guessing this is EE firmware?
I too have an unlocked Nokia Lumia 920 bought on Orange PAYG. My phone doesn't appear to be 'branded' as such - there are just a few references to EE if you dig deep enough and the IE homepage is set to the EE site. It's not like the old days when Orange would brand the device right, left and centre including physical logos on the body of the phone.
Is it worth flashing it when the branding is not evident in normal use? What would you gain from this?
I'm also wondering if we'll get the Nokia updates sooner with the phone linked to a carrier - I heard rumours that the unlocked Nokias will be updated last of all.

I de-branded mine and to be honest I don't see any difference either, I am even considering going back to the EE rom.
I think all the Nokias will be updated at the same time, RM-820 has been updated, and once all the roms are on Navifirm the RM-821 will go live, but the CV GB rom did appear on NaviFirm before the EE one, but only by about a week.
I've been thinking of putting the oem ? rom on mine...
thought updates might be quicker in future, also, i've noticed i can't set 2g as max speed and i've read some people can set it to 2g in mobile settings, not often I used it but if i need the phone to last as long as possible I would always set my last phone to 2g as the battery life increased like crazy
quick question..
where did you guys get yor phones unlocked from?
i have a tmob uk 920 and im travelling and would like to get it
unlocked to use overseas for a few weeks
suggestions?

RM_820 has not been updated if you are on AT&T. In fact we most likely won't see that update till after the exclusivity contract ends just becuase that is the way AT&T is. As for debranding in general, it really makes no difference other than maybe gets rid of some of the provider specific apps. There is no change to the phone function or behavior otherwise.
my tmobile phone is CVGB phone but beware that CVGB roms don't have 4g yet

it's not Nougat firmware for EU(including UK) market yet.
exist firmware's from Latin America and Mid.East - but they don't have a vodafone splash screen and may be have some other functionality (like recording during call, Voice over LTE, etc)
