Animated boot confirmed to work under 2.1 - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

I was messing around with root explorer and under Streak 2.1 the boot is a bootanimation.zip now like most devices instead of the old 00.png under 1.6. So I download a bootanimation.zip and dropped it in \system\media and did a merry jig because it works perfectly.
If anyone finds some good one's, post 'em.

nice.... haven't tried that yet, was on my list of things to play with

PS, here's a neat app to preview and apply them. there's also a link on there to quite a few more

Lost boot animation, I've got nothing...

Not that I mind too terribly much but when I installed dmesg and ran it I lost my boot animation all together. Fun.
I'm rooted on 4.1.57 running GreyBlur 2.1 or whatever the newest is. I used root explorer and made sure there is a bootanimation.zip file where it belongs. Tried manually adding different boot animation zips via rootexplorer. Nada.
Am I missing something?
You can try this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042736, but I don't really know if it will work or not. It is a theme removal app which will also allow you to attempt to reset your boot animation to stock. Has worked for me. It will only replace the bootanimation.zip but won't change any of the settings that call it., so if those are messed up then this won't help.
Just make sure you say no to the first question in the bat or else it will maul your greyblur theming.
Awesome! Ill give that a shot once I can get on a windows machine at work tomorrow. Luckily this isn't a life or death problem.

You can also download one of the fine boot animations here in the forum straight to your device and then copy it to the /system/media directory on your phone.
heres two I made

Ive actually tried that with no dice.

[DROID 3 goods] Droid 3 boot animation + wallpapers + sounds on Atrix

I have found a system dump from Droid 3 which includes all their wallpapers, sounds and also boot animation. It's located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164736
drumercalzone09 was nice enough to created a CWM update file of the boot animation with sound. Get it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185339
original files from the dump
Media Dump (ringtones, notifications, boot animation)

Wallpapers

If the Droid 3 is qHD, I'm pretty sure you can manually add the boot animation through Root Explorer.
Just rename it to bootanimation.zip and move it to system/media. It will be in the same location on the dump
As for the sounds, they should be in system/media/audio. You can put them on your internal SD card in media/audio/** where ** is ringtones, notifications, alarms respectfully
For the wallpapers... you could replace the stock Atrix ones under /res/drawable/Launcher.apk, but you'd lose the stock one, and I'm not sure exactly how you'd do it. You could always just make a folder and find them in the gallery.
I'm gonna try out the boot animation and sounds and report back!
EDIT: if you play the deerdeer notification in vlc, there's a little easter egg!
Another follow up: the boot animation works perfectly! Very nice looking too.

Thanks for testing it man. I guess we don't need a dev anymore.
Will be installing this puppy on my Atrix now.
Blue Droid 3 Boot Animation
Hey guys last night I threw together a blue version of this. ENJOY!
You will need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and put into your system/media or data/local folder to use!
If you like it or use it please press the "Thanks" Button!
i tried the method above with root explorer but that was a no go for me. instead i used root tools. renamed the file to bootanimation_backup.zip and placed it in the root tools folder. that seemed to work for me but i still get no sound though. i like the blue droid 3 animation and am using that one. thanks!
The boot animation looks sweet. I'll see what other goodies there are too. Thanks, man!

[BOOT ANIMATION] Stargate Wormhole

hey guys.
DESCRIPTION
This is the boot animation that I use now. I used it previously with my OG Evo 4G and loved it and it looks equally amazing on the Evo 3D. The animation loops through about 4 different wormholes shown throughout the Stargate franchise. I did not make the animation, but I did optimize it and rework it so that the looping is more seamless and it works flawlessly (or at least it should).
Thanks to silverxbv2 for creating the original animation for the Evo 4G. The thread is here.
DISCLAIMER

DOWNLOADS
bootanimation_stargate.zip
If you already know how to change your bootanimation, rename the file to bootanimation.zip and place it in the correct folder.
Alternatively, you can flash bootanimation_flashable.zip in recovery. This is a modified BootScoot2 flashable zip. It will relocate where your bootanimation, downanimation, and boot sound go to /data/local and also flash this bootanimation for you.
Thanks to smokin1337 for his original BootScoot2 zip. I can't live without this. His thread is here.
Visit this post link for instructions on how to add sound to your boot animation. I made the sound file back when I was on the Evo 4G. it will still work with this installation but I can't guarantee it will sync up the same. Try it out and let me know please.
Try it out and let me know how it works out!
VIDEO
YouTube link - volume alert! video has soundtrack!
video ? screenshot ?
updated OP.
I can take 2D or 3D video. what do you think?
Thank you for bringing this to the 3D!! I had it on my Evo 4G and loved it! I'll be installing this later on today
My nerd status just went up a lot, loving this, TY.
Good job on reworking this.

Very cool, thanks for the work you put into it.
i'm glad you guys are enjoying it.
for those of you waiting on a video, i've put up a link to it in the OP. recorded with my wife's Evo 3D.
Cool, but would be much better if it could go without repeating. Just keep going until the phone is booted.
My bootanimation is named Sprint_bootanimation.zip - should I name it that or will bootanimation.zip suffice?
if you downloaded the bootanimation only then yes change the name to match your existing animation. if you downloaded the flashable version, it will change your settings so that from now on, your files are named bootanimation, android_audio, and downanimation and place them in /data/local for easier access.
OP helped sate a childhood fancy of mine. I love Stargate and the flashable zip is awesome. Its very possible that I have rebooted my phone multiple times just to watch it. Now I just need to get the sound workin

whats wrong with the sound, did you download it from the op?
i'm glad to know you like it. I really loved the entire SG series and was heartbroken every time they canceled one of the shows. i own every single episode and movie, so it still lives on
Wow this looks great!
But im guessing it wont work on GSM??
I have never even so much as looked at a GSM rom so I can't tell you whether it works or not. I would stay away from the flashable zip just to be safe, since it does modify a couple of system files to change the location of the bootanimation.
but you should have no problem just getting the bootanimation.zip and placing it in the correct directory for your rom and that should work

Alienware Fire Boot Animation

ATTENTION: THIS MOD IS FOR DELL VENUE PHONE ONLY, NOT FOR VENUE TABLETS
I just tested this boot animation that was written for Dell Streak on my Venue, and...it works!
I know we are about to get some custom ROMs thanks to Manii and whoever else can cook custom ROMS but I got tired of looking at the Olleh logo and wanted to try. So glad it worked!
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309941
If your Venue is rooted, first move the zip file to your SD card. After that move that file to /data/local folder using Root Explorer or similar app and reboot. Enjoy!
Majority of the flashable stuff on the s5 will work fine on the V, only issue is safely flashing it.
A lot of it can be manually copied over though.
Cool, I was hoping that was the case. Looking forward to your new ROM. Already using the rooted deodexed one.
you don't really need to get bootanimation from Streak 5 to make it work on Venue though, I tried with some bootanimation of my Glacier and they work just fine on Venue. We just need to adjust the speed in desc.txt

does this work with CM 7 rom installed?
I like best MIUI theme, It has more optional for you choose!
Alright, thanks for the link OP I rooted the V just to get that boot animation. I wanted it bigger and better definition so I remade the animation with a better source. I have made successful animations before so it was no big deal, but this one has caused a bootloop and seems to have corrupted my recovery as well. Any ideas on a fix? been trying adb pull with no success as of yet.

cm9 official boot animation

I repackaged the official cm9 boot animation as a flashable zip. It is a repeating animation but can be repackaged if you like. Had to post a link cause of a token error, sorry.
The link for the flash-able zip is at bottom of page. Resubmitted to file factory.
Will this work with the cm9 alpha 0.01?
Sent from my Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha 0 Nook Tablet
Yep.
Yes , this zip is a highly requested boot animation made for CWM9. I pulled the correct resolution from the nook color site and repackaged in a flashable zip for you all to enjoy. It has been tested to make sure it flashed correctly and looked tight so enjoy.
Sorry for double post but yes this was made for my NT Cm9 alpha .01
cool, I'll try it out!

Have to re download. First one was bad or something. CWM aborted its install.
EDIT: apparently for some reason I can't download it. Could you try posting it someplace else? I only could download 37kb of it......
Sent from my Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha 0 Nook Tablet
Hmm. I will download and check hash against what i flashed onto my nook. Have it back uo later tonight. Sorry about troubles.
Where does everyone submit to. Which file sharing site compatible with our tablet? I would be happy to repost.
File Factory 11.2mb
I resubmitted the file to file factory. The file is 11.2mb in size. You might be able to download the file directly with yournook but if not use your pc and transfer the file over. Good luck and let me know how it works because I plan on doing some other cool projects once we get a stable 3.x kernel.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/c4fa2d7/n/CM9_BootAnim_NT.zip
Got it, I probably should mention that I'm doing this all during school on my schools VERY sketchy wifi. It looks nice if a lil laggy but that's probably due to the lack of hw accel on cm9. Overall good job though, I like it better than the default! I look forward to more of your projects.
Sent from my Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha 0 Nook Tablet
Will it work on a rooted tablet or do you have to be running CM7/9?
Sent via XDA Premium, Nook Tablet
Tbe zip file was designed to write the bootanimation to the android system media folder so it sbould work on all roms. Tbis file is meant to be flashed with CMW but you could just opsn this zip and copy the contents in the media folder and overwrite your existing boot animation. I made this for CM9 because this will be the official anim. Remember to back up all your important data before flashing.
I can confirm that it does work if you take the bootanimation.zip from inside the download zip and move it to the /system/media folder.
Although the animation isn't perfect, looks pretty good.
download location other than filefactory?
Are there any file download locations other than FileFactory? I keep getting the enter captcha, wait 25 seconds, sorry busy try again. Rinse and repeat.
I'll try again later, but if it's only on File Factory I'll probably just give up until another time.
Thanks.
I will try and repost to a better site when I get home. I am visiting family this weekend. Going to update the boot animation t make it smoother.
Yeah you need to upload it to another place, ever time I try it says all the free pipes are taken, either they are overrun because of megaupload or they're scamming paid trials
will fix
Ok. Got a dentist appointment today but i will get it back up tonight. Got any ideas where us best place to upload?
Mediafire, not sure if thats free to upload to, but its always worked consistantly. BTW i got this before it went down and it works really well. better and smoother than the original animation for the cm9 ROM. only complaint is the last bit where you go into the warp-zone and it says cm9 could stand to be lengthened a bit. just loop the part thats says "CyanogenMod 9" at the bottom for a few more seconds and itd be perfect.
Will redo
I am planning on completely redoing this zip and basing it off of a zip in the nook color forums. It will be full screen and i will try to make it smooth and fast. I might try a sound version also. Sorry its been a while, i was in a play at church and had rehersals besides my usual commitments. Expect this zip mid week.
Looking forward to it!
