[BOOT ANIMATION] Stargate Wormhole - HTC EVO 3D

hey guys.
DESCRIPTION
This is the boot animation that I use now. I used it previously with my OG Evo 4G and loved it and it looks equally amazing on the Evo 3D. The animation loops through about 4 different wormholes shown throughout the Stargate franchise. I did not make the animation, but I did optimize it and rework it so that the looping is more seamless and it works flawlessly (or at least it should).
Thanks to silverxbv2 for creating the original animation for the Evo 4G. The thread is here.

DOWNLOADS
bootanimation_stargate.zip
If you already know how to change your bootanimation, rename the file to bootanimation.zip and place it in the correct folder.
Alternatively, you can flash bootanimation_flashable.zip in recovery. This is a modified BootScoot2 flashable zip. It will relocate where your bootanimation, downanimation, and boot sound go to /data/local and also flash this bootanimation for you.
Thanks to smokin1337 for his original BootScoot2 zip. I can't live without this. His thread is here.
Visit this post link for instructions on how to add sound to your boot animation. I made the sound file back when I was on the Evo 4G. it will still work with this installation but I can't guarantee it will sync up the same. Try it out and let me know please.
Try it out and let me know how it works out!

updated OP.
I can take 2D or 3D video. what do you think?

Thank you for bringing this to the 3D!! I had it on my Evo 4G and loved it! I'll be installing this later on today

My nerd status just went up a lot, loving this, TY.

Good job on reworking this.

Very cool, thanks for the work you put into it.

i'm glad you guys are enjoying it.
for those of you waiting on a video, i've put up a link to it in the OP. recorded with my wife's Evo 3D.

Cool, but would be much better if it could go without repeating. Just keep going until the phone is booted.

My bootanimation is named Sprint_bootanimation.zip - should I name it that or will bootanimation.zip suffice?

if you downloaded the bootanimation only then yes change the name to match your existing animation. if you downloaded the flashable version, it will change your settings so that from now on, your files are named bootanimation, android_audio, and downanimation and place them in /data/local for easier access.

OP helped sate a childhood fancy of mine. I love Stargate and the flashable zip is awesome. Its very possible that I have rebooted my phone multiple times just to watch it. Now I just need to get the sound workin

whats wrong with the sound, did you download it from the op?

i'm glad to know you like it. I really loved the entire SG series and was heartbroken every time they canceled one of the shows. i own every single episode and movie, so it still lives on

Wow this looks great!
But im guessing it wont work on GSM??

I have never even so much as looked at a GSM rom so I can't tell you whether it works or not. I would stay away from the flashable zip just to be safe, since it does modify a couple of system files to change the location of the bootanimation.
but you should have no problem just getting the bootanimation.zip and placing it in the correct directory for your rom and that should work

Boot image

So I am very new to all this and just recently rooted my Vibrant with the ClockWork Rom and saw that I am able to upload new boot images instead of the Galaxy S logo.
I am not very artistic and was wondering if anyone would be able to throw one together for me using a hockey team logo or combination of logos. I will even reimburse!
Not sure if this is do able or if someone is willing to do this, but thought I would ask.
PM me with the team(s) you would like and I'll see what I can do.
check it! hokey boot up i made .

Nice! I'm just looking for something using the Canucks logo(s) and how ever someone can be creative. Flash of some players numbers in the color and font then the logo? IDK. Just want something other than the basic Samsung ish
Mine has a samsung logo but its custom and hokey anyway sounds like it is differant than your looking for.

try this, hope it's what your looking for. Had no idea who the auburn tigers are, so i just googled them. Hope it's the right team....It's flashable, but I obviously take no responsibility to anything that happens to your phone.
For other stuff check out

Not sure about Auburn Tigers... I was looking for the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL.
I'll check it out though and see how it looks.
Could I change the pictures in those files to the ones I am looking for and have that work?
I can work on that later. Your pm said auburn tigers???? I was confused too because you wanted hockey

So I wasn't really sure about the first one, so I changed it up a little. If you don't like that one try # 2
Am I just unzipping the folder and placing the bootanimation in the folder on my phone replacing the previous file? Or is it the whole flashable folder I am placing on my phone
I am completely new at this and want to make sure I place it on my phone properly.
I'm running a Mac as well... not sure if that matters.
So I got the .zip into the system/media folder but it doesn't play the image when I boot the phone up.... any ideas?

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. The download is flashable through clockwork recovery. But if you already extracted the bootanimation.zip from the package and placed it in the /system/media folder make sure you set permissions to rw-r--r-- otherwise I would just flash the original package

boot into recovery through you power button (assuming you have clockwork recovery installed and a rom that gives you that option)
install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sd card> [locate zip file and choose] then yes install> after install go back> reboot
also check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSBX7EBwaVA
I think the rom I am using isn't going to let me do this. I tried downloading the sons of skywalker ROM through ROM manager but after I click on it to download it takes me to a screen that doesn't come up with anything on it. I wait and nothing. Not sure where to find it to flash it when I boot through recovery. I tried downloading Axura and it doesn't save the file as a .zip on my computer. It extracts it and the only zip I can find is the update.zip. Do I go through recovery and install this file?
I don't know if it is the fact I am using a MacBook but just trying to alter some stuff on my phone with no luck.
I did the install in regards to the BootAnimations.zip and it didn't work, so thinking the rom wont let me.

Try renaming the downanimation.zip to Sprint_downanimation.zip and use root explorer to place it in system/customize/resource. Then change its permissions to Read, Write, Execute, Read, Read. That's what worked for me....

Honestly i havent tried any other downanimations yet but i will trying finding some now
I Had been searching for a way to change the animations and came across this very useful tool. I have used and it works really well you just have to remember to turn r/w in root explorer and it will name everything the way it needs to be and push it where it needs to go. No more placing on SD card and going back to RE, just save to correct location and run the file.

Android Gears Bootanimation

I found this over in the Sensation forums, and it works well/ looks good on our phone. I haven't tried the green one. I used Root Explorer to put .zip in /system/ customize/ resource, renamed to Sprint_bootanimation.zip, and changed the permissions to match the original Sprint_bootanimation.zip (renamed to Sprint_bootanimation.zip.bak)

Maybe try downloading the bootanimation again? Sounds like you're doing everything else right...... I have seen that some roms have the bootanimation in /data/local.
Added the blue one, looks nice, just need to add a sound to it, lol

I wouldn't just because it was made for another phone. If you decide to try it, make a nandroid backup first!
I'm just having trouble covering the basics. I try renaming the original animation to .bak, but I'm getting denied. I can't swap files through Astro or ES Explorer.

Hmmm, Installed without issues, But made no change on my evo. Still has the ViperRom boot anim.
Yeah, I flashed the blue one through recovery with no problem, but no changes were made.
I do like the animation and hope to get it on my phone.
You have to mount the system as R/W to make changes. Also, not all roms have the bootanimation in the same place and/ or named the same thing (i.e. a Sensation bootanimation flashed through recovery isn't going to replace one named Sprint_bootanimation.zip).
Alright,
So after I remount, I can pull the original zip from /system/customize/resource
The new animation is on the sdcard. What's the proper syntax to push?
adb push / sdcard/Sprint_bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource?
I got it, nevermind...
I just switched out the files from my PC once I pulled the original file.
It works now.
Thanks for sharing!

[BOOT] Nexus 10-ONE

Was always a fan of the Nexus One boot animation (which was also the Nexus S Boot Animation for Gingerbread) so I decided to convert it really fast to the N10.. To me, even to this day this boot animation is the very meaning of "Nexus Device".. I ran the all the original images through a detail extracting filter to help sharpen it up a bit for the upscale. It's by no means "HD" but it isn't 8-Bit looking either.. Perfect retro feel on a bleeding edge device.
Plus.. X = 10.
Copy paste install.. No flashing.. You should know where this goes. data/local or system/media then permissions of rw-r--r-- for the zip
Thanks. I'll give it a go as soon as I'm done eating.
Is it safe to assume that because it's packaged as a zip it's okay to flash in recovery?

Nope, no flashing.. Just drop it in system/media or /data/local... One probably contains a bootanimation.zip already if you're on a custom rom.
What's funny is all these years I never figured out how to make flashable zips for things. I've themed, I can compile AOSP sources, yadda yadda yadda but I never figured out how to make things like this flashable.
Forgot to add. You'll need to change permissions of it to - rw-r--r--
Sweet! Thanks for this!
perfect is working
Nice!
OK, finally got around to giving it a go (got to wait until after the kids go to bed before I do any serious device tweaking). Very nice indeed. Thanks for putting this together.

Thanks. You should teach me how to do that one day. I know I could pick up on it fast I just never found the right source anywhere so stopped bothering to look. But.. God damn you're a funny dude. That file name makes me laugh for real. I mentioned /data/local because I like dumping bootanimations in there so if I use Cyanogenmod or some other ROM etc that plants its own boot animation in system/media mine will always over-ride it and I never have to see theirs regardless of how many nightly updates etc I flash after the fact.

Nice boot animation! Since you were wondering how to make flashable zips I would recommend taking a look at this great guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611615.

Appreciate the link but like most tutorials for Android/Linux it is overly wordy, drifts off topic and makes assumptions you already know certain things. I can't pay attention to it. Like I said, I've learned a lot from plenty of great tutorials but signing and packaging flashable zips are always the worst and overdone explanations. I just want to theme, pack and move on. Packing a zip shouldn't be this complicated yet it seems like it is and I have no patience for it. I learned to compile from source in 10 minutes. Reading that tutorial for flashing zips made me close the tab in 1 minute. I appreciate the peoples time to do it but for me and my ADD mind I can't digest it.
i loved your boot and i am also really happy to see that it's so easy on nexus 10 and doesn't need flash and sh*t like in my HOX. You gave me a good reason to open my 3d animation tools again

Ugh and i gave you /system/media which you couldn't even use then... So here is one that will let you chose if you want it to install in /system/media or /data/local.
and if you make/edit any more boot animations for the Nexus 10 you just need to open this zip, copy your new bootanimation.zip into the bootani folder, and rezip. Then that one would be flashed asking user whether they prefer it install to /system/media or /data/local

Simple Boot Animation

Hello fellow Rezounders
Not being satisfied with current boot animation offerings, I fired up Adobe Flash and got to making a new, simple boot animation. It isn't labeled "CyanogenMod" or "Super Ultra Special Hax ROM 8.3". Just the one thing we all use in common: HTC Rezound.
Previews
v1 Black
v1 White
v2 Black
Instructions
First, you'll want to choose which version you want. v1 is larger, but stutters a little (like most boot animations) on the first loop through due to its size. v2 is a lot smaller so it doesn't stutter.
AOSP ROMs (CyanogenMod, AOKP):
1. download file
2. put it on your SD Card
3. copy it to /data/local/ using ES File Explorer or another file manager.
Sense 3.6 ROMs:
1. download Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip
3. put it on your SD Card
4. copy it to /system/customize/resource/
5. rename hTC_bootanimation.zip, found in /system/customize/resource/ to hTC_bootanimation.zip.bak
Sense 4.x ROMs:

Oh well.

Vigor_VZW_bootanimation was in /system/customize/resource/ right? I don't use a Sense ROM so it's kinda hard for me to troubleshoot this issue.
EDIT: I looked into it a little more (read: googled it) and came across this post. I've made the corrections to the zip, please try Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip which I just attached to my first post. Also, rename/remove "HTC_bootanimation.zip" from the /system/customize/resource/ directory
Re: ROM-agnostic Boot Animation
Wow.
I didn't even ask you to look into it and you did! You're awesome.
I appreciate the effort, but it still didn't work. I haven't had any luck with any boot animation I've tried on this phone. Either I'm doing something wrong, or my phone doesn't like cooperating.
Again, thanks for trying, sir!

Are you on Business Sense with Sense 4.0 or 3.6? I didn't realize there were two different versions. I have no idea how to change the boot animation on Sense 4.0. I can't find any relevant information at all.
If anyone wandering by this thread knows how, feel free to drop a note.
Re: ROM-agnostic Boot Animation (now with Black!)
I'm on 3.6.
Downloaded the new files. Followed your exact instructions, still doesn't work. I think it's just something wrong with the phone or the ROM. This is a fresh flash, too.
Could it be because I don't have an SDcard? My phone doesn't read SDcards anymore, so I'm using only the internal storage.
Thanks again!
Re: ROM-agnostic Boot Animation (now with Black!)
I probably have incorrect instructions, I'm not able to test them on my phone
