Now with the 2.1 Rom out (unofficially), Does this mean that the official Update from Dell is going to be 2.1, or are they still developing 2.2?
The reason for this is, that I wanted Multitouch (which is obviously in the 2.1) and flash, to watch BBC Iplayer. before I flashed the 2.1 rom, I had an app called Myplayer, which was awsome. Now that Iv moved to 2.1, that app is not available. I heard roumours that the BBC put presseure on, and had it removed from the market.
I also followed a guide to install flash onto 2.1, but this didn't work.
So, Do I have to have 2.2 for the Iplayer and are Dell releasing it? or
Is there a program like Myplayer available that I can use? (I also got a copy af Beebplayer, but won't play any streams.. says there not available also tried Skyfire)

I'm guessing that they will release 2.1 officially soon, and then release 2.2 soon after the Dell is released in America (which is apparently being released with 2.2 as stock). No idea on the time frame though, i guess we'll just have to wait!
Dell released the Streak in the US with Android 1.6. According to @LionelatDell, the initial plan is to have the Streaks in the US go straight to Froyo but there are no dates confirmed. Last I heard, UK still getting 2.1 by September.
Hopefully we all enjoy 2.2 together... but that, is wishful thinking.
(Sorry I run a smartphone website so part of my job is to keep up with these things =) )

Quick noobie question about the market and disappearing apps
....I upgraded just fine to 2.1. Thanks for all the advice and how-to. Worked great. Meanwhile, I can't seem to get some apps on the market that I can get on other Android devices, including the official New York Times app. Does anyone know a reason for this/a workaround. Thanks.
Just to confirm, myplayer hasn't been on the market, since I updated to 2.1

I think it is more importand now to get 2.3 works, If that works, Then we will see in the summer if there is still some dev left who want to do a 2.4 rom. And to see if it runs on the Hero. It was said 2.3 woudnt run, but it did, and well mostly will it support MPDI. wich I think it wont.
Ignoring the fact we haven't got 2.3 fully working on the Hero, and the fact the "announcement" you link to isn't an announcement at all it's rumor, this is a dev forum.

I tryed CM7 v8 and it's really impressive.
Coming from stock 2.1 to 2.3.3 of CM7 it's a big jump.
even if it is still in beta and not finished is faster than stock 2.1 and more usable (in terms of HCI usability).
Unfortunately i had problems with OpenGL games (Restaurant Story) and with GPS (no fix after 10 minutes), so i came back to stock for now...
Try Elelinux-7.0.0-RC1-Hero-v1.1.1 works ok with me. GPS is working fine.

it seems that there are limitations to server access. The vulkano's app is working but I have an error message saying it can not reach P2P server...(both wifi & 3G+ connection)

Just noticed that a couple recent reviewers of the app have reported that it is working with their atrix's (on wifi) since updating to gingerbread.
After updating to GB I'm still having no luck on either wifi or 3g. Anyone here get it to work?

I would also like to get this going. I’ve had my Vulkano for a few months now, and it’s worked with all my devices.
Now that I have an Atrix it doesn’t load past the buffering screen.
I’ve used it on my Evo (with variety of Roms both Froyo and GB and its worked on all of them), the eLocity A7 (Froyo and ported HC), and most importantly my Xoom tablet.
I did have to contact Monsoon when I first got my Xoom, and within a week or two I got an update an it started working.
Not sure why this doesn’t work on the Atrix (Froyo), I also tried it on the Droid 3 (GB), but no love there either.
Seems odd that it works with the Xoom but not on the Moto phones, perhaps the Vulkano doesn’t like BLUR.
I have a port of MotoBlur for the eLocity A7, I’ll have to try to test this and see if that makes a diff.
Hopefully Monsoon gets this going as this app/product has been awesome for me, and I would be bummed to completely lose this functionality as I have retired my Evo and don't like taking my Xoom too many places.

I used Vulkano app a lot with my Moto Milestone but Atrix is a no go. I also wrote to them and they replied they were working on an Atrix compatible version. No updates yet. It's sad.
I've ben corresponding with Monsoon as recent as this morning, and they've stated that the Atrix and Droid 3 both should work.
However, I am still running Froyo on my Atrix, and they requested I upgrade to GB for it to work. I don't plan on upgrading for another week or so, does anyone have the official GB on their phone that can test the app again? I've got version 2.0.100 on all my devices and it appears to be the latest.
I've asked them what the diff is, as it really shouldn't matter.
Could be the usual pass the buck line, but that's why we are here, to confirm reality!
I also ran into some problems trying to load Blur on my eLocity tablet to determine if maybe Blur has anything to do with it.
Joyo22 - What version of Android is the Milestone running? And does it run MotoBlur? I wanna say that there is a newer version of Blur that has come out with the latest Moto Phones, but I cannot be sure as this is my first Moto phone. Although, if I recall properly, the blur build I have for my tablet DOES NOT require a "Blur Acct" which leads me to believe this is a different version.

I was going to help you out but I went and checked out this Vulkano stuff and it appears it's equipment you have to buy to do things you can easily do for free. Also i don't watch live tv anymore, i stream everything over netflix or through the actual channels website. Good luck!

Monsoon stated there was an issue with the RTSP client in the Moto 2.2 build, and that it was resolved in their GB build.
Hopefully everyone's is working now. However, I did not use the official 4.5.91 OTA, only builds which were pre-rooted.

Well I have a Hava Platinum and Vulkano App did work well on my Milestone. I installed the latest version of Vulkano on my 2.3.4 Atrix and It won't load. ANy solution?
I see you are on ninja rom, I haven't tried that one yet.
I'll flash ninja on mine and see if it works.
It may take me a day or two (come on weekend!), as my Atrix is my daily phone.
You've got the platinum eh, I think I've got the lava and I'm using the free app. have you tried both apps? also what version(s) of the app are you using.

Is it working for you on 3g/cellular data connection?
I can only get it to work on the local wifi network that my hava platinum is connected to. When I try to connect with 3g or another wifi spot I get "Device is unreachable. Access to device may be blocked by your router or the internet service provider"
I'm on GB via OTA and rooted.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Edit: http://www.myhava.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3198 looks like it may be a problem with the router that my hava is connected to. Guess I will have to wait until the next time I get out to my parents house to get it configured properly. I'll post my results after I give it a try.

Yeah mine works just fine over Sprint 3g on HTC Evo, Verizon's 3g on Moto Xoom, and on AT&T HSPA+ "4g" with Atrix. However, I have the Lava box, which there is something different with this box and the Flow box compared to the other 4 boxes Hava has (your platinum). Note the apps state this on the Android Market.
Have you tried emailing customer service, they were very responsive when I contacted them. Were even willing to review my logfiles to troubleshoot.
I think I had that issue, and had to check the port settings on the router. Its been a while though I'll have to go in and look at my settings to see what, if anything I did.
Try re-running the setup, I know I did that a few times over. Also on occasion I have to unplug and reboot my box as the connection seems to get locked up. Happened 2 or 3 times over several months.
Ninja SpeedFreak 4.5 works for me via 3g.
Try re-loading the rom, and don't forget to wipe dalvik

Finally got out to my parents house where my hava is. Opened up the ports on the router mentioned in the hava forum and it works great over 3g and other wifi networks.
Between this, netflix and orb. I have all the streaming media I'll ever need.

Mine is working as well. After resetting ports, it started working as stated. It's a little buggy when on wifi, but quality has improved.

Just had a question and wasn't sure if anyone was actively pursuing this yet.
Has anyone found a way to re-enable the wifi hotspot support within the AT&T 2.2 build that was just released this last week? With one of my past Streaks I was on Dell Unlocked 2.2 build and had some hardware charging issues after putting in all that work to take a ATT 1.6 to Dell (U) 2.2. I'd really like to avoid going backwards from my new att 2.2 to just go forwards to the dell 2.2 that had some stability issues.
I am aware that everyone has different opinions on which one is better so please focus any answers around how would it be possible to restore a native froyo feature to this ATT lockware OS.

it can't be done. At&t does not want you to use your phone as a wifi hotspot so they removed that feature in the phone. Only way to get it back would be to downgrade back to the stock rom you had before.
If you don't have unlimited data plan go for 340, it's fast and stable, if you have unlimited data plan 318 + performance fix is my first choice although I never had any issues with any of DJ Steve's ROMs they are all kind to my Streak and my Streak loves them back, but having read all the others are posting, would really give you second thoughts. Maybe it is just a matter of following instructions, if you didn't get it right it will be a disaster indeed. I just don't get it,English is just a second language to me but I am able to always get it right, guess that is my advantage, having English as secondlanguage.

I don't have battery issues with 318 plus the performance fix. From 24-36 hours with no problems.
I meant to ask this earlier especially with the bounty for rooting is getting up there. Do most people here have 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 on their flyer/view? Mine came with 2.3.4. I this wouldn't matter if you had S-Off but since we don't, will this matter as far as trying to get it rooted or getting S-Off?
Mine is an European model Flyer, which lists the OS as 2.3.3.
Interesting to see however that the EVO View version appears to come with 2.3.4. Wonder if HTC is prepping an update for the Flyer to bring everyone else to this level?.
It would open it's options for being able to promote Video Chat with Google Talk, and later SkyPE (when they official update to incldue the Flyer).

Either that or Sprint was responsible for the update. The more I think about it the more I think it is something Sprint did. I do remember the sales person telling me that Netfilx was working on the View. I am wondering if the did it so that netflix would work. I will have to call and ask sprint about it. When I got my View they brought it out to me already activated.
Carriers don't tinker with the OS software, that's the job of the manufacturer. Carriers tell the manufacturer what they want, and the manufacturer makes it that way.
Android version number doesn't matter as much as the software number. HTC can (and does) make all kinds of software updates and security changes for the same Android build. Not being a developer, I'd say that root, S-off methods may or may not be exactly the same between the Flyer and the View. But my bet is that they will be using the same exploits, and have similar root methods, if not exactly the same.

I bought mine on eBay 2.3.3 no updates, does that mean it is a European version?
if so is that why YouTube videos stop after 10 seconds of playing. I might have to access YouTube UK or something to watch videos.
It keeps kicking me out after I log in. Anyone had success that isn't on GB? Im on CommRom UKB 2.1. As far as I know it was just released today, the App that is.

grabbed the official app from the market.

I downloaded it from the market just two days ago and have had no issues other than a FC when I try to back out of a running movie.
I'll test with my wife's phone to see if its rom related. She's on stock.
Comes in pretty ok on 3G.
I am running it on cm7. The original app worked better than the new one. It works ok, but i get more errors and buffering with the new one.
Make sure you have the app version 1.3 from the market. Go update if not. They announced the addition of froyo support and only made the app visible to the phone. But it wasn't updated yet. Same thing happened to me. After I updated to 1.3 works like a charm.
