LCD Density Changer - Wildfire Themes and Apps

App to set the density of your screen. Get more info on your screen, like with a high resolution setting on your PC. See the 2nd screenshot for an example.
Try diff. values and launchers if it doesn't work.
NEED ROOT (su, SuperUser and busybox installed!) with full r/w access.

Does it work on wildfire??

Well i managed to test it yesterday.... but seems lyk it dosnt work ... i tried it with both launcher pro and htc sense .. the default density it shows is 120 on wildfire even after booting it shows the same density

It seems like the Wildfire suffers the same fate as Desire , right now this doesn't work on Desire either , because the Desire (and probably the Wildfire too) doesn't allow writes to system once it has booted up.
I tried Typefresh to change fonts and only got errors , then i used a Fontswitcher that runs on the PC instead , it uses adb to push the fonts onto the device, and i ran it in 'desire mode' which really just mean that i have to make sure it is in recoverymode before copying the fonts.
One thing to try is to boot up recovery , pull out the build.prop and edit it , then push it back in again. Might work. (that is what the app does essentially)

Default value is 120, LCD density changer won't allow you to use a value not included between 120 & 240. I guess it just needs an update, but you'll need MartinEve's kernel (r/w access when booted).

works as it should on my wildfire with puzzle rom
EDIT:
you have to enter a lower number than 120 to get it work. my wildfire is running with 100 fine. Higher number means lower resolution

Looks like crap though , apps don't resize properly , graphics becom grainier than ever and stuff. Text looks ok but graphics,

looks bad even with 110.... the problem is that apps have problem resizing

The problem is some games won't work well if i change density with LCD Density. If i don't use compatibility mode, the game is too large for the screen.
If i use it, then it gets blurry and laggy ( Jewles Deluxe for example )
Also some apps and widgets don't work anymore: ES File Explorer Force Closes always and widgetsoid force closes when adding widgets to home.
It's a shame...110 or 114 ( divisible by 8 ) was making wildfire to look awesome.
Any possible fixes? Or alternatives?

cleaner/more professional looking s2

alright here is something you can do to make your s2 look more professional. well, i guess its more of a personal preference. i just want to share it cause im lovin my s2 again with this easy tweak
i totally forgot about this, but while at work, it hit me back. change LCD DENSITY!!
REQUIRES ROOT!!! DONT BLAME ME IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS TO YOUR S2.
for those who dont know what changing LCD DENSITY does. its like changing the screen resolution of your PC, but with android an increased LCD DENSITY makes everything look bigger.
default LCD DENSITY for our sgs2 is 240. i changed mine to 200. and it looks great.
you can find a LCD DENSITY CHANGER in the market. i used ROM TOOLBOX. or you can manually change it by editing the BUILD.PROP under /system ....i ended up using ROM TOOLBOX cause everytime i change the number from 240 to what ever number manually it just wont accept the changes. anyways use root explorer or a similar app to browse /system ...mount R/W ...and search for BUILD.PROP, press and hold for pop up menu then choose "open in text editor". look for the line *ro.sf.lcd_density=240* ....edit 240 to what ever number. save and reboot phone. like i said manually editing BUILD.PROP didnt work on my STOCK ROOTED s2 but you can try.
the only issue ive encountered so far is the phone dial keypad. you can see it from the last pic below. also if you are going to do this i suggest using a keyboard that has HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT feature like ULTRA KEYBOARD
here are screenies.... enjoy

dialer problem....but still usable
Just a warning - Starting a month or two ago, Google changed the market to start blocking apps from the market if the phone was running a nonstandard density.
So if you do this and start getting all sorts of compatibility warnings from the Market - undo it.
You can periodically change it back to 240, reboot, clear market data and get your updates and download anything that is marked as incompatible and then change it all back again if you are really wanting the lower DPI.
Also, there's a fix for the dialer. Check the themes section.

Hope someone can give 6months old question's answer HERE

hi all, here's the 6months old question. Everyone wants this not only me.
Here's my question:

I want this iPhone/iPod screen ROTATING effect with the accelerometer. (Landscape/vertical) in our android. I ask this question when i was on android 2.1 but now its 2.3(gingerbread).
Also, i got this COMMENT when i asked this ques. 6 months ago.
"Once the new custom kernels are released with the FPS cap removed, screen transitions and other animations will be as smooth or even smoother than the iPhone's. I suggest waiting, jerpelea is working hard his own, as well as zdzihu."
So now, custom kernels are released and bootloader is also unlocked. Still, no one is working on this transition rotation effect.
work in progress....
Doesn't our phone already do that? Auto rotate?

I am talking about this.

check the video. I want this screen rotation transition effect in all menu as well as in homescreen
tbh, I don't think android will do that.
API must be integrated in the OS from the very beginning since OS itself need to interrupt particular apps to draw the rotation.
This is not kernel/bootloader layer but the OS itself, which I guess Google also doesn't want to have some stupid patenting conflict with Apple. (same to WM7, W8, WebOS, blah blah)

[Q] Filling out fields blocks my whole screen.

Question, this is how my screen looks while filling out fields in apps, the input takes the whole screen. It's pretty annoying when you press next which moves to the next field you can't see what the field is. Is this the norm, or is it the ROM I'm using that's doing this? I'm on Hybrid.

When I was using h0tw1r3's CM9 @ 240 dpi, I didn't have any issues. Now that I'm using a modified stock by Flapjaxx @ 320 dpi, the input takes up the whole screen.
But I think it's more of a dpi issue, not the rom.
Hold it in portrait instead of landscape.
I don't know about the swype or stock keyboard, but can you change the key height? I use swiftkey 3 and that is an option.

You're right that portrait doesn't behave the same. It must be a dpi issue. I've had the rotation locked to landscape for awhile now, didn't think to test portrait.
Do you think it would be the keyboard's dpi I would have to change?
Thanks guys.
I'm pretty sure it does that on all dpis in landscape mode.. i remember my captivate doing the same thing
I just push the back button, the keyboard goes away and I select the next field.

I end up doing that too. It's pretty annoying. Oh well, thanks everyone.
Just an update; i flashed CM10 and it doesn't do this. It's so much better to use in landscape now.
ParnoidAndroid based off of CM10 does tho. Must be the multi DPI causing it.
I figured it out. It's the keyboards dpi. On CM10HYBRID-PARANOIDANDROID in Settings > Paranoid Settings > Apps > Android keyboard - I set Per App Layout to Tablet UI. It no longer fills the screen.
I'm using "smart keyboard pro "
And have for about 2 years . The settings allow you to set the field height of the virtual board.
Very helpful when using it on different devices and resolutions.
You could give the free version a go from the play store , but it has a nag screen. However , it retains full settings adjustment.
Hope this helps you ....g

[MOD] Custom Xperia Boot Animation

I searched a lot for boot animations but couldn't find one that I would like on my phone so I created my own boot animation. Posting it here if someone wants it.

Instructions:
Your phone should be rooted
This is NOT a flashable zip
1. Place/Replace the file in /system/media/ using RootExplorer (or any other root-access explorer)
2. Change the permission of the file in options. Set it rw-r-r. (Just tick em all if you do not understand this)
3. Reboot the phone. Enjoy!
Resolution: 480 x 854
Thanks to Wechy77 who edited the bootanimation by removing all the useless frames and changing the fps to a more suitable number which lowered the boot animation size from 2.25Mb down to just 640kb!
Beautiful :highfive:
Download it now and install
Nice and clean bootanimation
Great job

Beautiful, but it's a little bit bigger, than it it should be.
I edited it, and its 640kb. I can send you to test it, and you can see what i changed.
Really nice and minimal...
But maybe it should be sexier with circles instead of squares in the progress bar
nice boot animation
Similar to the one I made months ago, but how come it over 2MB when mine is just 35KB
You need dropping fps and indexing png to get smaller size.

I just tried that and I think the squares still look better but I guess it's a matter of personal preference. I still attached the circles bootanimation here if you want it.

Wechy77 helped by reducing the size to 640kb! Certainly not 35kb but atleast its not 2MB.

Changing Per App DPI

I wanted to make sure LG G2 users know that installing Xposed Framework and using the App Setting module allows per app DPI adjustments on stock LG ROMS. I put together a guide if anyone wants to give it a try and threw in some screen shots so you get an idea why you'd want to change your DPI.
LG G2 Xposed framework guide.

Here is Yahoo mail app at 300 dpi, compare how many emails you can preview at 480 default dpi.

Tested on my rooted Verizon LG G2 (with 1st OTA).
Below 300 dpi testing
If anyone is interested in testing how the LG G2 looks below 300 dpi or any other device. I found that LCDDensity works best. It doesn't retain the settings so you'll return to default value on reboot. Until I got my G2 and started using Xposed Framework with the App Setting module it was my density changer of choice.
Hi, do you know how to correct the empty border problem with the stock camera app when using dpi lower than 480? I tried xposed app settings just for that app, and it doesn't fix the problem.
Edit: NVM. I didn't have the modules enabled. Thanks.
I installed Xposed Framework some weeks ago only for DPI settings.
Works pretty well and I love it.
Only stuff that doesn't work for me is the rotation settings. But that's not a problem. I'm using tasker for this.
I just used the App Settings 1.5 in Xposed. I just wanted to lower the dpi on the messaging app (the bubbles are freaking huge and annoying), and went down to 320.
But the wallpaper behind the bubbles is all screwed up; it shifted to the left. I raised the dpi to 335, but no change.
Any work around?
I flashed the rom spidero with 380dpi, with this xposed how reset dpi for nova launcher?
