It's explained somewhere else, but in summary the file system Samsung chose to use sucks. It hinders the performance to some extent which is primarily noticeable when multi-tasking. Using a native Linux file system speeds things up dramatically. If you look at the Quadrant score in the lag fix link, it should show how kick ass the phone is. It's running 2.1, so it doesn't have the JIT compiler included in 2.2 and it smashes the Nexus One running 2.2.

[Q] Most beneficial Mods for CM7DX2?

Between Droid X2 build.prop Mash-Up v5 fixed 2.3.4, Speedy V7, Power Boost v2.0, V6 SuperCharger, 3G Turbocharger, 99 tweaks and anything else I'm forgetting, which are the most beneficial to use if your running CM7DX2? It's already a great ROM, I just want to completely optimize it as much as possible without screwing anything up. Improved GPS, Signal strength, speed, ect. Any ideas?
You don't need any of those. I don't use any of the scripts and the phone runs smooth.
With BLUR removed, the X2 can perform like it should have been able to. BLUR was the reason why the X2 performance was not up-to-par. Oh, and all the other bloat removed has helped too, but definitely, the BLUR stuff didn't help.
+1 but I think they are developing a mash that included the 8 touch points. I don't have 8 thumbs so not for me. I think it's helpful on some games etc. Don't know what else is in there. Can't imagine things running better than this.

Yup. That would be the only mod I can think of that is worth it. All the other scripts are not necessary and can actually slow down the phone and/or cause boot loops, especially the V6 Turbocharger scripts.

Script manager and V6 Supercharger Question.

So I've been getting around to installing extra .zip updates. I've tried mashed up and the 8 point multitouch by moonshadow. I've been interested in getting the V6 (or V8) for my X2 on CM7. I've downloaded and installed both busybox and script manager. Busybox has been fine with no force closes but script manager on the other hand completely shuts down almost right away when launched. Plus on top of it, I don't know how to get/download the V6 script itself. If someone could please help me out and explain what I am doing wrong, I'd truely appreciate it. Thanks in advanced. Oh and I am proud to now be apart of the XDA forums. Love the droidforums app and droidxforums app. You guys are awesome and help out alot. Thanks alot and keep it up. Shout out to all the dev's making this possible too. You guys rock!

Dont worry about installing v6 supercharger, as its not needed and will decrease the preformance of your phone.
Script manager gives me issues as well with cm7. But as was said you don't need the v6 supercharger. Welcome to the forums

Cool, thanks for the fast responses. Well looks like I'll be uninstalling the script manager then. And no V6. Thanks again, feels good to be on the BEST forum IMHO. Got one more question if either of you two have flashed the mashed up rom or the 8 multitouch point fixer. Which one is better? I noticed the mashed said it would give better signal and all but I didn't see any difference. And I dont play much of any games on here so the 8 points is no biggie for me either. Thanks again in advance.

Oh was there a magical downloadable ram upgrade?
I don't NEED a ferrari but its effin nice to have.
Get latest Update 9 RC6.9
Put the script in the root of the sdcard.
Use terminal.
Type su and enter
sh /sdcard/V6* and enter
Enjoy the ride and say buh bye to your redraws.
Because it will be EFFIN FAST...
I have always used v6 on eclipse and other roms and really like it. However moon shadow was the tester for cm7 and he has said many times that v6 causes major issues. I run cm7 stock.
Don't get me wrong zep I love your work but before I try it on cm7 I would like someone to confirm it runs well with your new 6.9.
Well its been 24 hrs, 1000ish downloads and not a peep of a problem
I don't think he has tried any recent version... now that U9RC6.9 is up I'll nag him to try lol
Zep I almost went back to eclipse so I could try your new version 6.9 I already have it downloaded and saved to my SD card. I always go from cm7 and eclipse I will be using it for sure at some point. Thanks for all your work.

peoples posts have been miss read brotha lol
what they mean is that v6supercharger is not needed really on the x2 running cm7...
it's not like it's an official cm7 soo there are things about it that could be causing issues that have been mentioned.
on the other hand, I am on eclipse, I like to set my minfree myself so I edit the init.d script that nitro includes and use v6supercharger for all my needs PLUS the nitro lag nullifier and detailing...and it works GREAT.
it is also AWESOME if running stock rooted x2...
but with our cm7 there have been lots of complaints of lag when using v6supercharger but I don't think it's because v6supercharger itself is "useless" but more that our cm7 build just doesn't work all that well along with it...
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
I actually downloaded CM7 to see what tweaks there are but there's no special tweaks in init.d to interfere with.
My guess is that it wasn't liking the older adj/group limits.
Moon Shadow said he would test the newest 6.9 on Monday anyway.
Have you updated yet?

Zep, you might remember me or not but I used your supercharger and tweaks when I was on Stock Rooted 2.3.4 but then Cm7 came along (can't thank you enough DZK) and word was it wasn't needed and could actually cause problems. After reading the posts and you taking the time to stop by and give you're input...well that's good enough for me and I'll be giving it try this evening. Need to restore my build.prop to stock CM7 1st and nand of course but will let you know how it goes.
And as always thanks for all your hard work.
Currently on CM7 with stock CM7 build.prop, Installed V6 Update9_RC6.9 with options enabled for local.prop, system integration and animation. Rebooted after allowing cleanup by V6 without incident. No hangs or boot loops other than the longer boot time because of the dalvik wipe.
So far have used options 6,7 & 9 with no problems. Using Quadrant, Smartbench 2012 and Lindpak all show improvements over non supercharged cm7, Quadrant being the most notable with about an average 500 point increase. I've had no force closes, video play black, music and browsing are all ok with some "jerkiness" in Dolphine HD when using option 9. 3g speeds using Speedtest averaged 2500kbps down/925kbps up. Also played Shadowgun with no problems but then I had no problems playing it before V6.
I wish I knew how to be a better tester but I can for sure say it doesn't crash the phone and other than what I noted for option 9 nothing negative.
For anyone with an X2 running CM7 I'd say give it a try and I'll be very interested to hear what the folks of this forum that are smarter than me (which is pretty much everyone...lol) think after testing it out... Keep up the good work Zep!!!

You are quite welcome, sir And as for running this script on any rezound ROM's I'm about to try supercharging RezRom s4 v2.4 which is a sense 4 based ROM build, so I shall see how that goes and post back here with results. Exciting stuff if you know how to use/build the v6 supercharger scripts correctly and within the right parameters. I used to fool around quite a bit with the Specific script on several other android phones, all dual core processors and what not, I have yet to come across any problems during my testing of it and I will be sure to keep this thread updated with my progress- or should I say testing, and will continue to post back here with new and/or interesting finds/ flying unicorns...We can't leave out the flying unicorns hahaha

Essentially, this script/variety of scripts when used together, will help greatly increase the responsiveness, snappiness, and overall performance of your ROM as for it's speed/reliability, that is, when you use the script(s) correctly and as they are intended to be used. If you simply install the v6 supercharger script and leave it at that, the above examples of performance increases will not always work as they should. It will take some time setting things up, like using 3G TurboCharger and Kick Ass Kernelizer tweaks, Nitro Lag Nullifier, etc, etc, etc... Check out the link I posted in the OP about how to use and install everything and you will see great improvements, I promise Also, don't forget that to use the scripts you will first need to install Script Manager from the market and be sure to run as ROOT!!!
Have fun with this!!!!!!
Can somebody please give me a step by step way to use this? I'm on ics firmware and I have no idea how to use this script. there are 17 options to choose from, but the thread says that I need extra stuff for ics. I'm totally lost when it comes to this stuff. is there a flashable zip for this script? Or at least can someone tell me what values to use for each option. I want to use v6 supercharger and then use turboprop on top of it.
thanks for helping a noob.
Nick
nevermind. I figured it out. I originally downloaded an older version of the script which was not made to work with ics.

So does this help make sense 4 faster? How were your results?

Do we need to have V6 Supercharger on our device?

So we all know that this device is blazing fast even in stock ROM. Do you guys consider to install V6? Is it necessary?

Not even necessary on any device IMHO.
Sure, it can change the OOM values. You can do that with a init.d script anyway. I tested it against my own custom scripts and it was no better.
Since moving to the S3, I have not had to try my own scripts either.

Yes it will absolutely make a difference. The problem for me is if I want to tweak OOM values, I want to set them myself where as with V6, you have choices of "sets".
If you're a newb, then its a simple and intuitive script to use. I just prefer to run everything from my own scripts with my own values.

What did you use... V1 instead of V6? LOL
There was always the option to custOOMmize with your own minfree values.
Of course, whatever you did, did squat for launcher priority.
I've never had the need to change launcher priority. And if I did, its always been in the settings of the launcher.
Anyway, not going to get into this any further with you. Pointless argument.
Yes, comparing apples to oranges is pointless - SuperCharger isn't a run of the mill minfree tweaker.
I know thats not only what it does. I took that one aspect as an example.
The SGS3 doesn't really need any help from scripts though. It's not my fault. I didn't make it that way. This is not a personal dig at you so please don't take it as one.
As I stated earlier, I also haven't had a need to use my own scripts on it. It's an observation, not a personal attack so theres no need to be offended.
I also did state earlier that "Yes it absolutely makes a differenc"e which, although I was talking about this device, should be enough to prove I'm not deconstructing your efforts of belittling any of your work - unlike how you seem to be with me.
Fair enough.
I wanted to clarify the difference but mainly wanted to link to the unepected SGSIII redraw thread

I was a user of Autokiller Memory Optimizer and Ram Manager Pro.
Due I like to tweak the minfree and makes the apps lagfix so I used them both before.
But they are actually running on the background and eats our ram. But V6 Supercharger is just a script and it won't eat any of ram. I use it since my GS2 and now it even supports GS3. It's working great to me and it really making my phone faster and smoother.

What tweaks are you using?

I was just wondering what different tweaks people use that work. The only thing I been using is jokers 1.3 kernal on cm7 and just tried 3g/4g optimizer for 3g boost. I am new here so off I'm curious as to what you guys use for tweaking things like 3g etc....
Sent from my CM7ed MoPho
Hello and welcome! 3g tweaks are one of those grey areas in which people seem to have varying results. None have ever done much for me.. However, zeroing out any proxies within your build.prop usually seems to get me slightly faster and more reliable 3g speeds. CM7 is pretty optimized from the get-go, but i urge you to make good use of that kernel. By that i mean, sit down and really set up profiles, underclock by no more than 50 if you want to be sure you get no random reboots, run the powersave governor instead of performance (with deadline), dont bother overclocking unless youre really obsessed with benchmarking scores as jokers mods to the kernel improve performance at stock frequencies and visible performance gains are minimal with overclock. If everything is set up correctly, don't bother using a battery saver app as profiles can generally do the same thing. Dont use task killer apps, they hurt battery performance and do more harm than good. Might wanna check out startup manager to dictate which apps start upon boot if you have a ton of apps. Check out an app called ad away to get rid of those pesky ads. Rom Toolbox Lite app is good for many many little tweaks as well. Thats all i can really think of right this second. Other than these i like to keep it generally clean.
What is the most accurate speed test app? I been using speedtest.net mobile.
Sent from my CM7ed MoPho
There isn't. All of them are slightly inaccurate. Best way to judge your speed is to actually download something.

You'll find your phone actually runs smoother without the task killer. They were useful in the days when phones had limited amounts of ram. With today's phones its redundant given that android has its own 'task killer' built in.
Yup. I noticed. Runs all smooth now.
