[Q] How to change the user agent android on hd2 - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

thank you for your reply

be more specific

In the browser you can change user agent through menu button, settings, user agent.

Go to sleep fella, the agents will change themselves...

In froyo standard you can't change the useragent only in cm6 or desire builds. You can try Xscope browser for that.
For peoples who don't know "user agent" is the string that tells the server what browser are u using.

If you can't answer a question don't answer!

The only thing I can think of on this build is to go to settings in the browser and uncheck the "mobile view" option.

There you go.

Stock browser does not have the option. CM's browsers do and so does steel which can be found on the market

Help -- Wan To Create OperaMini URL Shortcut on Home Screen

Hey guys. Can someone help me create a shortcut icon that will take me to a specified Opera Mini URL? Sort of like a poor-man's widget.
Thanks
Not sure it can be done. Best bet is to set the Opera homepage to the page you want and create a shortcut on the homescreen for opera. When you click the icon it'll launch opera and go to the page you want.

Theres an app called "bettercut," though I havent used it for a long time, I remember it was the GoTo app for shortcuts. Try it
Yeah I know of buttercut. I need help created and advanced one. Basically opening the default browser then executing a URL command. It's gotta be available as many apps have the option to click on a link that opens up your browser to a certain page. Now that I'm thinking about it maybe I can create a simple URL shortcut that will open Opera (default browser).
Anyway if anyone knows how to create a URL shortcut without butter cut let me know. Can't imagin it to be too hard to the coders out there.

You can add shortcuts to websites that you have bookmarked with the stock browser to your home screen without using any other software. Just hit add then shortcut then bookmark.

I think your best bet is to set opera mini as your default browser and do it that way.

I agree, if anything though I would have neither set as default browser; you can set a new shortcut bookmark on your homescreen and when you click it it will ask which browser you want to open with but I'm bias with the HTC browser because of Flash Lite

Opera directs to polish sites

Hope someone can help,
Why does opera mobile keep directing me to polish websites?

Load up opera:config in the address bar, and check in there for anything unusual. Especially the Proxy settings.
The fastest way will be to restore default settings.
maybe you should change "search settings" on google site?

Desktop default for all browsers?

When I load google through any brower it loads mobile view, I have the settings set on festoon and not android.
Please answer me whoever reads this, whatever your thoughts are.
I want my phone to ALWAYS access the internet as a desktop not mobile..... Thanks in advance

[HACK/FIX] Changing useragent string in browser to Desktop (Permanently).
Why go through all this why don't you just download opera or dolphin browser in the settings change the user agent to desktop (advanced in opera) and you are set.

[Q] Browser intents?

Has anyone else noticed that the browser seems to steal away intents from other apps?
For instance, if Google Now has showed me directions somewhere and I click the map (not the Navigate option), the directions are opened in the browser, not Maps. And it doesn't give me the choice. I've tried clearing defaults in a few different things, but it doesn't seem to help.
I'm also seeing this in a reddit widget I have. On other devices, I can click a link and it would give me the option to open in the browser, or a reddit app of my choice. On the DNA it goes straight to the browser, no options.
I'm running UKB 1.1, but I'm pretty sure this happened on stock.
Anybody else?
Go to settings and look at your app associations.

Well, "Physical address" is set for Maps, "Map address" is set for Maps, and "Web URLs" is set for Internet (which is the only option). But I don't think that explains why Google Now is opening a map in the browser.
I'm guessing these Sense associations are overriding Android natural intent system?
I wouldn't doubt that is happening. I find that happens a lot with sense which is one reason I'm not a huge fan of it in general.

This is an iPhone limitation. Should not be an android limitation.

I don't post often because I usually do some searching and find my answer. Not the case this time.
When I had an iPhone I was annoyed that it was not possible to choose defaults to override certain functions. For instance, you can't change the default browser. That's just one example, but there are many more.
After switching to android I thought I'd be all set. And for the most part I am. However, I still have not figured out how to modify one behavior that's bothering me: control of what happens when hyperlinks are clicked. The particular example I am thinking of right now is eBay.
I have the eBay app installed. So, whenever I click an eBay link - whether it's in a browser, an email, or another app - I want it to open the eBay app. I don't ever want it to open the eBay web page in the browser. Same goes for all the other apps I have installed. Another example - using the xda app. If I have the xda app installed and I get an email that includes a link to a thread here on xda, I want to view it in the xda app, not in a browser. Ever.
How do I make sure this behavior always works the way it should? It appears that some apps will ask what behavior you want to use as default. But that doesn't seem to work 100%. Our the setting isn't sticking. I don't know.
its not androids fault, its the app/web developers... tumblr makes great use of defaults but no other app seems to...

Is it a limitation caused by the "from" app or the "to" app?
For instance, I just got an email that there was a reply to this thread. When I click on the link in the Gmail app, there is no option to use the xda forum app to open the link. Is that a fault of the Gmail app, or the xda app?
I'd say the "to" app. I use tapatalk and any xda link gives me the option to open the forum in the app
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
I say its both both sides can be programmed to do it. the app can intercept links and webpages can add app specific buttons
tumblr has app specific buttons (open in app) and YouTube intercepts most links (thus when you click a YouTube link the app opens)
