Back to AT&T Stock 6.1 6601 in 4 Steps - Streak 5 Android Development

This post is for people who have already upgraded their Streaks and know the basics. This guide won't help you upgrade or root.
I spent over 24 hours trying to get my Streak back to stock. I was not happy with the O2 branding, Performance, and aesthetics of 2.1 so I wanted to go back but every method I found online didn't work for me. So I created my own little method.
Note: All the files you need are in a zip file below. The hardest part for me was finding files that worked and/or were not dead links. But if you download my files and use this guide I'm not responsible if you screw up.
Step 1: Download Zip File
It has everything you will need in order to Downgrade.
Step 2: Downgrade to a stock O2 build of 1.6 (important)
- Place the Step 2 Update.pkg on the root of your sdcard.
- Place Step 2 Recovery folder where you can get to it using CMD / Terminal via Fastboot
- Place your Streak in fastboot mode
- Type this command into CMD or Terminal " fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.stock.new.img "
- Once the streak shows done pull out the battery and replace it, then boot using volume keys
- Update from sd card
Step 3: Clockworkmod Recovery
- Place Step 3 clockwork folder where you can get to it using CMD / Terminal via Fastboot
- Place Step 3 clockworkmod folder on the root of your sdcard
- Place your Streak in fastboot mode
- Type this command into CMD or Terminal " fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img "
- Once the streak shows done pull out the battery and replace it, then boot using volume keys
- Update from sd card
Step 4: Nandroid (almost done)
- Once your in the clockworkmod recovery menu select nandriod using the volume and camera buttons
- Select Restore
- Now you will see Niles Method, Select it and wait for the restore to finish.
- Once it's done reboot the system using nandroid or the battery pull method.
- During boot up if your keys don't blink then your done enjoy, if your keys blink then go to step 5
Step 5: Stop the flashing
- If you got this far then I'm sure you know how to root your device. So all you need to do is run the r2 superboot in Step 5 folder.
And thats it folks. The above worked for me and a number of other people and their streaks. I can't guarantee that it will work for everyone but other methods I found online did not work for myself and the others at all.

Sorry but to go back to 6601 you should follow thid thread

I tried that one and along with a few other people and we did not seem to get that method working, 3 out of the 5 of us did. The other two of us used a mixture of methods in order to get it to work. As explained above.
I believe you had a personal investment in the one you linked to, it's nothing personal but not every method works for every person like it did not work for some of us. Don't get defensive it does not matter about which they use as long as people have multiple methods to try if they get stuck. It's all about helping the user right? at least I thought it was.

Many thxz mikeniles. I have been trying to go back for a few days now i most have sending back the streak to dell for warranty exchange. Did tried a few others I think like the one above also with the one that is for the macs and nothing,
thxz for putting the files in one places to find them all is hard like the one that is above has link that takes me to another sites not the files.
like you saysd above it is about the helping everyone and when dell send me back the new one will not do update until ready for.

That guy clark, no one here will make fun of your english it's not that type of place we are all just here to help and or in my case learn.
No thanks needed brother it's a team effort someone else put the files online I just found them. Someone else came up with the methods I based mine off of. All I did was put them together in one file and share with you the mixture that worked for me. Every single person on this forum is why you got yours working not just me.
Not sure why you have to send your streak in but good luck with it and don't be afraid of people making fun of you, Your voice counts.

Always good to have alternative ways as people are running different systems and configurations.
Were you able to get oem-version back to 31-us or is it still at 21-us?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App

When I get to step 2 update from SD card, I get all files are up to date...rebooting in 30 seconds. Any ideas?

6.1???
I was shocked when I saw the title
"Back to AT&T Stock 6.1 6601 in 4 Steps"

Your method doesn't work because it produces MD5 Mismatch when you try to run it.
Worse yet, your method broke my phone because once you install that version of clockwork recovery, you can't install any other version without it just blackscreening. Worse yet, that version doesn't work for regular packages either. *Many hours of trial an error just to get it back to working, still no ATT rom.

How To Unlock HTC Hero (especially the Orange UK)

----
update:
-- just2mention: (22.03.2010)
latest HTC update (ROM Version:2.73.61.66 for Orange /Release Date: 2010-02-04)
and ROOT rights + flashing custom ROMS will NOT WORK
check page (3) for further information and problem solving :=)
------------------
continuing with original post
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
hey guys,
i bought my HTC Hero (Orange UK) locked a few days ago, and it arrived yesterday at morning
I spent at least 12h trying to unlock it :=) reading all posts over the whole www At 6am in the morning today, i finally could say: yeah i got it unlocked :=) and yeah, i also got the firmware downgraded
So, there is just one requirement (if anyone did it without one, please let me know): At least, for some time (borrowed from a friend) you need an Orange-Sim-Card
You need it to logg into your phone once, so that your pc installs the correct adb interface drivers (if you never got a sim card, you will never be able to contact adb interface) and enable the usb debugging mode on your android phone (so that adb works).
Otherwise i wouldn't have been able to get the Point 1 done correctly. (get the CID...)
=> Other Things you need to install:
- unlock code (maybe from http://www.unlock-now.com/)
- Android SDK
- i took the normal usb drivers (sdk-supports, folder "usb-driver")
so the exact how to:
1) at first (there is no way to bypass it) do exactly the following (create a Gold-Card):
Create a Goldcard (xda-post)
2) flash a custom recovery rom via adb interface (Android SDK):
Code:
adb shell reboot bootloader
fastboot boot recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img
adb shell mount /sdcard
adb push recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img /sdcard/recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img
adb shell reboot
(got code from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
3) Now you can flash any rom u like (maybe at first, if everything works, do a custom backup (nandroid))
i chose: HTC Generic 2.73.405.38
originally from: http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/291942/09-10-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format/
really important: check the requirements above!
get access to an orange sim card. not important which one...
live here in austria, and got an AUT-Orange Card from a friend, but I think you definitely need one!
This was performed on a Windows 7 64 bit machine
greets && good luck to everyone who does this, hope this saves you a lot of time!
I am a novice and having probs....will be trying these steps over the weekend but a few questions in the meantime:-
I can successfully create a goldcard...
but the ROM downgrade bombs out with the 131 error which I believe is because Orange have tweaked it and is effectively locked to them?
Does the custom recovery get around the downgrading problem? I'm guessing it replaces the 'Orange Rom' with a basic image?
If the custom recovery is successful, are you 'unlocked' at that stage? Is your phone bricked if the custom recovery fails?
If the custom recovery is successful, does that give you the ability to do a Nandroid backup or are there specific steps that need to be done first?....(where does Nandroid backup the image to?...sd card? another part of the phone memory?
If custom recovery is successful, is it simply a case of getting the rom you want (such as modaco) and then launching it from the pc with your phone synched and goldcard inserted?
Apologies for all the questions but I'm trying to get my head around how this whole process works. Thanks for any help.
Trying hard to see the point of this thread/poll, when this method for unlocking the Orange Hero has been known for a while now!
Regards,
Dave

custom recovery, i think, replaces just the "recovery" ;=) boot loader image, the running rom stays the same meanwhile

not yet regarding to above, the rom hasn't change and so the unlock key, won't work either.

no, if the custom recovery is complete, you can do an nandroid backup as u like. it backups directly to /sdcard/nandroid/..

it the easiest thing you can imagine, put the downloaded rom onto the sd drive, custom recovery lets you choose "restore: browse" you select the image file directly on your sdcard (name doesn't matteR) , wait , and it's done

I presume that the 'recovery' is not available on the phone by default? When I hold the home key after powering on, it just has a sort of warning picture next to the phone.....no text displayed and no buttons do anything at that stage, only option is to take the battery out to kill the power.
Gonna have a go at unlocking this using the instructions later tonight.
I have finally got my Orange UK Hero sorted out.......
to cut a long story short, I had the most recent Orange UK ROM, which stops the custom recovery and doesn't alllow a change of bootloader (I got the 'remote ID' error when following your instructions and therefore couldn't flash it using your method.
In the end I went down the 'flashrec' route and eventually managed to get a standard ROM on, backed it up with Nandroid and then unlocked the mobile. Took a lot of hours faffing around and I'm starting to understand how it all fits together now...thanks for the steer. Regards Daz

sry && greetings,
Just to let you know my solution, as I had a PM asking for assistance.
Basically the goldcard method didn't work for me, (creating it was fine, but that's as far as it got)....after research I found out that the most recent Orange Hero's have firmware installed which blocks this process.
Anyway, I used the flashrec method, instructions are here
The url above also has the links to the two files that you need to pull this off. These aren't my instructions so credit to the author.
I have done this on two HTC Hero's now which were both locked to Orange, and they both sailed through without a problem. I also bought my unlock codes from www.htccode.com and had them both unlocked about 5 minutes after payment by PayPal.
Hope this helps anyone else with the 131 error problems (Orange firmware blocking the goldcard method) and thanks for crazyVII (thread starter) for also helping me out.
hi i am totally new to android thing and this all process. sorry if i sound stupid. when i try to run adb while creating gold card it comes on as dost windows and goes off instantly cant type any command whatsoever can u plz tell me wts wrong and i've tried on windows 7 and xp as well thanks in advance
br
it looks like you got an adb problem.
try this to see the message:
open a console window ( start-> run -> type "cmd" - pressENTER )
then run the command again!
good look!
OK, there is a very easy way.
Just upgrade your orange firmware to the oranges official latest firmware: ROM Version:2.73.61.66 for Orange
download here:
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=864&news_id=514
Then you can just use the codes that you have and it will unlock the device!
you can get the code from:
http://www.unlock-now.com/
Hope this helps
cheers

It definitely wont be Android 2.1 as it hasn't been released yet, you will know for sure when it is released as EVERYONE will be talking about it!!!
Does it really work?... Hmmm,... I *think* so, but I only assume that from IRFAN99's comment saying...

But dont take that as gospel, you know what they say, "assumption is the mother of all f*~K ups"!!!
Can anyone please confirm if that works????
..... And the Orange logo is just referring to the network that BENEDICT.S is on, you can select yours in your profile settings.
And lastly,...

Dell Streak - The Complete Guide - ## Look here first!! ##

After seeing lots of different guides and struggling to understand them I have compiled a concise and easy to follow guide on fastboot, root, recovery, roms and ADB including lots of download links.
The idea is to stop people having to search high and low for a guide on how to do something and to provide easy to follow guides with no assumptions. Sort of like a central resource. This could be downloaded to your device and then all the download links are available wherever you are.
Most of it is my own work with inspiration taken from XDA and Modaco. Both forums have done a lot to help me so I thought it was time I gave back.
If you have any comments, corrections or suggestions then please email me at the email address in the attached document.
EDIT: Added lots of pictures and screen prints and converted to PDF only.
Thanks

One thing though, I appear to be missing a clockworkmod recovery? There are 4 on the guide (one from Koush's recovery and 3 from the clockworkmod guide sticky(2 on first page and 1 on page 3)). Is there another version somewhere or is it just those 4?
Thanks

Sounds Good I plan to download now
Hi, thanks for the guide but am stuck on one part. I want to basically install a custom recovery and am on Android 2.1.
The guide says to browse the Streaks folder via fastboot in a command prompt window, but how do you do that?
C and D drives are to do with the pc partitions but their are no others popping up when in Fastboot mode so am a little confused their.
"Navigate to your C:\streak folder by typing cd C:\streak and hitting Enter....."
I think he means use the command prompt to browse the folder that you downloaded and have named "Streak" so on the cmd, type "cd C:\streak" then enter and it should take you to the streak folder on your C drive which should have all the fastboot tools etc, at which point you can run the fastboot command. Am I right?
Thanks!
I would like to thank you Radddogg for this guide dude!
I'm new to Android and I got the gist of things by reading most of the threads on the Dell streak, but never truely understood what exactly was needed to flash ROM's, recovery's etc until I read your guide and it has made pretty much everything clear now....though I do still have a couple of questions
Firstly, just to clear things up in my mind, I know we use fastboot commands to install recovery images, but can we also use these commands to install actual ROM updates? If so, what is the difference between updating via the fastboot tool and via the recovery mode?
Secondly, I take it that we use stock recovery's for official ROM's and custom recovery's for custom ROM's, the question is, are there specific custom recovery's for specific custom ROM's or will any custom recovery work with any custom made ROM?
And lastly, which is required for leaked ROM's? Stock Recovery?
Thanks again Radddogg and thanks to anyone else who can help make me understand.
I understand now, will try it out tonight, cheers.
There won't be matching custom recovery/rom's. Just install the clockwork one and it will work fine.
hi Radddogg, thanks for your efforts.. but i went thru your pdf file, and tried so many times, just couldn't get yours to work.. i must have removed/replaced my battery like 50 times.. but i finally got mine to work.
i'm on 1.6 build 3883.. i kept getting the E:Can't find MISC error or blank screen trying the clock recovery 1.8.1.7, or your stock recovery.
Finally, what i did was:
1. load the 3883 superboot
loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/streak/r1-3883-streak-superboot.zip
2. load the 4399 recovery
loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/streak/r1-4399-streak-recovery.zip
3. load the 4399 pkg
loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/streak/Streak_104_4399_21.pkg
4. and finally load the 8105 pkg using the 4399 recovery
info is here.
android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/310618/19-aug-streak-1-6-downloads-how-tos-rom-superboot-recovery/
Hi,
I'm not sure what you were trying to do as you didn't say but one thing I've found is that updates and recoveries are very build dependant and have to be done in order of build number. I'm not sure why you couldn't do what you wanted off the pdf as the downloads you posted are all available off my pdf?
The streak is definitely less user friendly than HTCs
Oh and is there a copy of the 3883 pkg anywhere I can add to the pdf?
sorry, i don't have a 3883 copy.
What was different was the sequence that i did it, and the versions to use.
Going thru your pdf, i followed point by point starting from point 1.. and i'm supposed to, after starting fastboot.. to do this
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
But i get the blank screen. Not sure why, but i guessing i had to use this
fastboot –i 0x413c
for the recovery.img so i tried this but still not working. Maybe the recovery.img is not 4399 version.. and because i was on 3883, i had to use 4399?
When i tried
fastboot –i 0x413c flash recovery recovery-clockwork-streak.img
It worked, but then i get the "E:Can't find MISC" error. I'm guessing my pkg was the 8105 instead of the 4399. So tried loading 4399 pkg but same error. The clockwork thing didn't work for me.
Anyway, after trial and error many times, long story short, i downloaded the 4399 recovery and did this
fastboot –i 0x413c flash recovery recovery4399.img
load the 4399 pkg
load the 8105 pkg
and it finally worked. Would've helped if you had mentioned what version to use or that i had to load the 2 different versions of the pkg in sequence or maybe its just me. I didn't know.. i'm an android newbie..
But thanks anyway.
Hey sory if disturbing.
Below are my Streak details
Firmware 1.6

How to Root/Recover/Flash Soft Bricked Phone. All-In-One Guide.

I remember when I was looking for all this info I had to jump from board to board to board and
experience tons of trial and error when I was successful with my own device then wounded up
bricking my phone or someone elses based on other factors, or OCLF/CWM not working in recovery,
all that fun stuff.
So I decided to design this guide as a way for a person to make one stop at this guide, and
find everything you need with some tips I had to learn the hardway.
First while YES you can root/flash your phone from 2.2 Froyo official Samsung it is more complicated
and you risk a LOT more. I HIGHLY recommend doing a flash BACK to 2.1 update 1 to make your phone
bone stock to the way it was when you first bought it (Or if you bought it with 2.2 the way it was at launch.
Its a MUCH easier process and almost impossible for something to go wrong in the process. These
steps will help if you have also bricked your phone (Kinda bricked anyways)or its stuck in a bootloop.
Also while rooting is great to apply some Lag Fixes and such there really is no point unless
your going to flash a new ROM (or OS if you're new to this) because you probably don't use your
phone to utilize any of this stuff anyways.
Before you start please be sure to have the drivers working for your phone on your PC.
If you are running Windows 7/Vista and User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, be sure
to right click the Odin icon and select Run as Administrator.
DISCLAIMER:This is my contribution to the wonderful android community here that has given me
a wealth of information on this subject, and had it not been for these boards and others like
it I would not be able to enjoy my phone and the contributions made here by so many hardworking
people. With that said. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DAMAGING YOUR PHONE.
1.Back up everything in either Titanium backup or to PC (PC backup can only save Pictures etc.
not your message logs/call logs/account settings/etc.) A Nandroid backup should work equally as
well.
2.Shut Down phone into Download Mode so Odin can recognize phone.
-If phone is in boot loop or bricked:
-Plug USB cable into PC
-Take out battery
-Put battery back in
-Hold Vol Up + Vol Down buttons at same time
-While holding inster USB cable into phone
-Odin should now recognize device in download mode
3.Load Files into proper fields. (.TAR into TAR,.PIT into PIT)
4.Do not check any other boxes then defaults. You only want the PIT file and .TAR files for this.
5.Click Start.
6.Phone should begin flash process
NOTE: EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE AT THIS POINT WILL BE ERASED! KERNEL, BASEBAND, ROOT, ETC.
YOUR PHONE WILL BECOME COMPLETELY STOCK AS THOUGH IT WAS JUST PULLED FROM THE SHELF
IN THE UNITED STATES.
7.If process completes the phone will reboot on its own. If it gets stuck in any one process
without moving, just close the program, and repeat steps. Might take a few tries.
Once stock OS of 2.1 Update 1 is applied you can install the update.zip on the SD.
NOTE:YOU DO NOT EXTRACT THE .zip! JUST SIMPLY PLACE IT ONTO THE INTERNAL SD IN NO FOLDER.
If you're running 2.2 froyo and you were just flashed back to 2.1, then you should already have
an update.zip. Thats fine, delete the old one and replace the new one.
1.Now that the update.zip is on your phone the rest is really is. You can root your phone using
this file from your phone. Go into recovery by holding the Vol Up+Vol Down+Power button at the
same time while the phone is off. Let go once the Vibrant logo appears.
2.Select reinstall packages. Phone should reboot and you are now rooted!
If from here you want to flash a ROM over your current OS its simple.
1.When the phone reboots and you see you have SuperUse permissions you are rooted.
2.Go to the market and download ROM manager.
3.Select Install ClockWork Recovery Mod for your specific phone within the ROM manager app.
Find your ROM, Drop it into your SD the same way as the update.zip
4.Shut down your phone and boot back into Recovery Console.
5.Select Reinstall Packages again. This should Install ClockWork (CWM) OVER your recovery console.
If it doesnt take the first time just do it again, it will take you to a different color
console.
6.Once in CWM select the item using the Vol Up or Down buttons and power to select on Install
Zip from SD card.

Good guide for noobs
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Good post I have and will be linking it to some ppl with problems thought you deserved your first thanks lol
Thanks for the responses and any feedback or critique on where/how I can make this guide more accessible is appreciated (PM please)
I wanted this to help people who are new and scared. lol
The guide that s15274n has is like the bible to this. but I know sometimes that much information can be either overwhelming or confusing to some.
So hopefully this helps out some people!
Thanks for the post man. The more ways to help the better. Mine has a ton more detail, but some may not want / need that much.

And that is EXACTLY what I was hoping to accomplish. Sadly though I didn't stumble across your thread last night when I had soft bricked my brothers phone and was doing a million google searches to find the work around on his boot loop frenzied phone (Recovery console was even corrupt).
So after what seemed like 1000 snipits from different articles I was able to mostly compile this. And then throw in some warnings for future rooters/flashers.
Had I known Samsung's own 2.2 release was going to be so AWFUL compared to 2.1 I never would have upgraded. But then again if I probably never would have flashed/rooted. haha. Oh well what can you do.

[Q] Dell Streak 2.2 - 2.2.2 update help

Ok i had 2.2 and then it had the update for 2.2.2 so i downloaded that and i kept on getting problems with it for example it kept force closing and then it kept on faactory reseting itself. it then didnt work at all apart from when i turn it on the logo came up then turned of and carried on doing this for ages
i sent it to dell they sorted it out and put the 2.2 back on, it now keeps telling me to update it to 2.2.2 but i dont want to do it if i will get the same problems so has anyone else had the problems? and what do people think i should do just leave it as 2.2 or update it?
thanks help would be appreaciated
to the top someone help
There is a post somewhere that gives info on how to get rid of the notification for the update, or you can just ignore it
but im thinking is it worth doing the update?
and ill try and find were you can get rid of it thanks
It sounds like you had a bad flash, which would explain why after the update the Streak was doing what you said.
It's worthwhile to do the update. But you might have better luck if you download the update.pkg from xda's wiki and doing the update manually rather than relying on Dell. ROM 351 is a good choice.

wouldnt know how to do all that, any ideas how its done and is it easy?
i would love the gingerbread 3.0 or something as ilove the menus but i wouldnt know how to root the phone and do all of that
thanks
Sorry, no Gingerbread if you're wanting to stay with a stock ROM. It is fairly easy to do, but read all the information at the link below carefully before you attempt to manually change the firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14815054&postcount=2
ahhh looks to confusing :L,
if i was to just update it through the dell would it be bad do you think?
Seriously?
1. Find and download the update.pkg from the wiki to the root of your SD.
2. Rename the downloaded package to update.pkg
2. Shut down the Streak.
4. Boot into recovery mode by holding down both volume buttons while turning the Streak on.
5. Select option 2 on the screen that comes up.
6. Hit the appropriate button on the screen that comes up after that to install the update.
Wait about twenty minutes, and you're done. Set up your accounts, install your apps, and you're on your merry way.
Radimus uses Fastboot. The method above is essentially what Dell will have you do, with the exception that you're downloading the ROM yourself instead of using Dell's OTA application. In any event, it's not that difficult, whichever way you want to go.
haha thats easier one thing i didnt kow what package to download? any ideas what one

actually im a bit lost on 5 and 6, dont know what it means by copy this..
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
fastboot.exe (acquired in Step 0) <--- If you see: 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command... RTFM
recovery.img (aquired from Step 2)
update.pkg (aquired from Step 2)
ApplyRecovery.bat (created in Step 5)
into a folder wat folder? and what do i do with the notepad bit?
Use the 351 ROM if you have an unlocked Streak. That's a very stable, 2.2.2 ROM.
If you're using Radimus' guide to do the upgrade, he explains exactly where to get everything and where to put everything, so if you're stuck at step 5 on his guide, you need to read his guide again, carefully. The directory you put all the stuff in though can be anything you want, as long as it's on the root of drive C and has no spaces.

at the moment i have done it all downloaded, and just copied the update.pkg to my memory. were do you get the fastboot i think it was from i have never seen that?
i have done the volume up/down and powerbuttonw loads to do the hard restore but never seen the fastbook
have got a bit further doesnt work :/
got to step 9 and nothing happened it just said fastboot_mode and not the ready
Did you download the drivers from the link Radimus provided and did you follow his instructions in the PDF to get your computer to see the Streak?
the rdimus way
might just do the update through the notif bar ;/ what do you rthink?
If you're still getting the update message, you might as well. Though I thought you were trying to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time when you tried to do the update.
yh i am its annoying ha, yh i would like to do it so i dont have the same problems but doing it the other way i had no luck
Well then, if you're trying to avoid that problem, why are you not at least trying the step by step instructions I gave back in post 9 of this thread? The only time you have the Streak connected to the computer is to copy the .PKG file you downloaded from the XDA wiki. After that, it's all done on the Streak.
And just to clarify something, once you get the Streak into recovery mode, you use the volume controls to navigate between the various options and the camera button to select.

[request] Simple installation manual for StreakDroid for a beginner please :)

Hey!
Coming from an HD2, flashing ROMs shouldn´t be that difficult...but sadly it seems to be referring to the StreakDroid
I do know that flashing always comes with difficulties and has to be done with care...but I would be very thankful if anybody could help me out here and sum up the main steps, so I can get StreakDroid on my Streak too! I´ve read the whole thread (fards one), but I think it would be so much easier if anybody could take the time making a short tutorial how to flash the rom. It seems like the main bugs had overcomed...
Is there anybody out there who would do this for me and (I´m sure there are some/many) all the other guys who do not have the guts to start a try and error session? Would be soooo kind!!!!

Your gonna have to do some reading, it seems more complicated than it is.
I will give you hints, but no links.
Download and install Dell Streak drivers and PC Suite from Dell, look on the wiki here and find the fastboot drivers and exe and install those drivers.
Copy fastboot.exe to C:\ of your pc.
Next read about Streakmod and download the latest version, extract recovery.img and place it in c:\ on your pc.
Now flash recovery.img to the Streak using fastboot.
Now you can download StreakDroid 1.9.1, rename update.zip and place in the \ directory of your phones storage.
Now follow streakmod recovery procedure, turn on phone holding down volume up and down together, now you have a menu to do many things including update your phones firmware.

You should contact TheManii. He is collecting/archiving all of the Streak builds he can find and as you write - I do not see BB 357 in the wiki.
Where did you get your phone? Did you buy it new or used? Is it locked to a carrier?

I contacted him long ago but no reply. Maybe he is offline.
I bought my cell phone from India. we don't have carriers here.
it's a brand new phone and full unlocked with a price tag of 25k ( indian currency )
PM sent, keep in mind time zone differences. It was sent at 6am for me.
Bascially make a nandroid dump and send it to me
OP: Search for "MultiFlasher" thread, download files, read instructions and flash away. Even I got it done successfully. The fastboot driver is already included.
The main thing is you MUST have your phone's driver installed. This is the driver from Dell.
