[Q] Dell Streak 2.2 - 2.2.2 update help - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok i had 2.2 and then it had the update for 2.2.2 so i downloaded that and i kept on getting problems with it for example it kept force closing and then it kept on faactory reseting itself. it then didnt work at all apart from when i turn it on the logo came up then turned of and carried on doing this for ages
i sent it to dell they sorted it out and put the 2.2 back on, it now keeps telling me to update it to 2.2.2 but i dont want to do it if i will get the same problems so has anyone else had the problems? and what do people think i should do just leave it as 2.2 or update it?
thanks help would be appreaciated

to the top someone help

There is a post somewhere that gives info on how to get rid of the notification for the update, or you can just ignore it

but im thinking is it worth doing the update?
and ill try and find were you can get rid of it thanks

It sounds like you had a bad flash, which would explain why after the update the Streak was doing what you said.
It's worthwhile to do the update. But you might have better luck if you download the update.pkg from xda's wiki and doing the update manually rather than relying on Dell. ROM 351 is a good choice.

wouldnt know how to do all that, any ideas how its done and is it easy?
i would love the gingerbread 3.0 or something as ilove the menus but i wouldnt know how to root the phone and do all of that
thanks

Sorry, no Gingerbread if you're wanting to stay with a stock ROM. It is fairly easy to do, but read all the information at the link below carefully before you attempt to manually change the firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14815054&postcount=2

ahhh looks to confusing :L,
if i was to just update it through the dell would it be bad do you think?

Seriously?
1. Find and download the update.pkg from the wiki to the root of your SD.
2. Rename the downloaded package to update.pkg
2. Shut down the Streak.
4. Boot into recovery mode by holding down both volume buttons while turning the Streak on.
5. Select option 2 on the screen that comes up.
6. Hit the appropriate button on the screen that comes up after that to install the update.
Wait about twenty minutes, and you're done. Set up your accounts, install your apps, and you're on your merry way.
Radimus uses Fastboot. The method above is essentially what Dell will have you do, with the exception that you're downloading the ROM yourself instead of using Dell's OTA application. In any event, it's not that difficult, whichever way you want to go.

haha thats easier one thing i didnt kow what package to download? any ideas what one

actually im a bit lost on 5 and 6, dont know what it means by copy this..
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
fastboot.exe (acquired in Step 0) <--- If you see: 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command... RTFM
recovery.img (aquired from Step 2)
update.pkg (aquired from Step 2)
ApplyRecovery.bat (created in Step 5)
into a folder wat folder? and what do i do with the notepad bit?

Use the 351 ROM if you have an unlocked Streak. That's a very stable, 2.2.2 ROM.
If you're using Radimus' guide to do the upgrade, he explains exactly where to get everything and where to put everything, so if you're stuck at step 5 on his guide, you need to read his guide again, carefully. The directory you put all the stuff in though can be anything you want, as long as it's on the root of drive C and has no spaces.

at the moment i have done it all downloaded, and just copied the update.pkg to my memory. were do you get the fastboot i think it was from i have never seen that?
i have done the volume up/down and powerbuttonw loads to do the hard restore but never seen the fastbook

have got a bit further doesnt work :/
got to step 9 and nothing happened it just said fastboot_mode and not the ready

Did you download the drivers from the link Radimus provided and did you follow his instructions in the PDF to get your computer to see the Streak?

the rdimus way

might just do the update through the notif bar ;/ what do you rthink?

If you're still getting the update message, you might as well. Though I thought you were trying to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time when you tried to do the update.

yh i am its annoying ha, yh i would like to do it so i dont have the same problems but doing it the other way i had no luck

Well then, if you're trying to avoid that problem, why are you not at least trying the step by step instructions I gave back in post 9 of this thread? The only time you have the Streak connected to the computer is to copy the .PKG file you downloaded from the XDA wiki. After that, it's all done on the Streak.
And just to clarify something, once you get the Streak into recovery mode, you use the volume controls to navigate between the various options and the camera button to select.

Back to AT&T Stock 6.1 6601 in 4 Steps

This post is for people who have already upgraded their Streaks and know the basics. This guide won't help you upgrade or root.
I spent over 24 hours trying to get my Streak back to stock. I was not happy with the O2 branding, Performance, and aesthetics of 2.1 so I wanted to go back but every method I found online didn't work for me. So I created my own little method.
Note: All the files you need are in a zip file below. The hardest part for me was finding files that worked and/or were not dead links. But if you download my files and use this guide I'm not responsible if you screw up.
Step 1: Download Zip File
It has everything you will need in order to Downgrade.
Step 2: Downgrade to a stock O2 build of 1.6 (important)
- Place the Step 2 Update.pkg on the root of your sdcard.
- Place Step 2 Recovery folder where you can get to it using CMD / Terminal via Fastboot
- Place your Streak in fastboot mode
- Type this command into CMD or Terminal " fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.stock.new.img "
- Once the streak shows done pull out the battery and replace it, then boot using volume keys
- Update from sd card
Step 3: Clockworkmod Recovery
- Place Step 3 clockwork folder where you can get to it using CMD / Terminal via Fastboot
- Place Step 3 clockworkmod folder on the root of your sdcard
- Place your Streak in fastboot mode
- Type this command into CMD or Terminal " fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img "
- Once the streak shows done pull out the battery and replace it, then boot using volume keys
- Update from sd card
Step 4: Nandroid (almost done)
- Once your in the clockworkmod recovery menu select nandriod using the volume and camera buttons
- Select Restore
- Now you will see Niles Method, Select it and wait for the restore to finish.
- Once it's done reboot the system using nandroid or the battery pull method.
- During boot up if your keys don't blink then your done enjoy, if your keys blink then go to step 5
Step 5: Stop the flashing
- If you got this far then I'm sure you know how to root your device. So all you need to do is run the r2 superboot in Step 5 folder.
And thats it folks. The above worked for me and a number of other people and their streaks. I can't guarantee that it will work for everyone but other methods I found online did not work for myself and the others at all.
Sorry but to go back to 6601 you should follow thid thread

I tried that one and along with a few other people and we did not seem to get that method working, 3 out of the 5 of us did. The other two of us used a mixture of methods in order to get it to work. As explained above.
I believe you had a personal investment in the one you linked to, it's nothing personal but not every method works for every person like it did not work for some of us. Don't get defensive it does not matter about which they use as long as people have multiple methods to try if they get stuck. It's all about helping the user right? at least I thought it was.
Many thxz mikeniles. I have been trying to go back for a few days now i most have sending back the streak to dell for warranty exchange. Did tried a few others I think like the one above also with the one that is for the macs and nothing,
thxz for putting the files in one places to find them all is hard like the one that is above has link that takes me to another sites not the files.
like you saysd above it is about the helping everyone and when dell send me back the new one will not do update until ready for.

That guy clark, no one here will make fun of your english it's not that type of place we are all just here to help and or in my case learn.
No thanks needed brother it's a team effort someone else put the files online I just found them. Someone else came up with the methods I based mine off of. All I did was put them together in one file and share with you the mixture that worked for me. Every single person on this forum is why you got yours working not just me.
Not sure why you have to send your streak in but good luck with it and don't be afraid of people making fun of you, Your voice counts.
Always good to have alternative ways as people are running different systems and configurations.
Were you able to get oem-version back to 31-us or is it still at 21-us?

6.1???
I was shocked when I saw the title
"Back to AT&T Stock 6.1 6601 in 4 Steps"
Your method doesn't work because it produces MD5 Mismatch when you try to run it.
Worse yet, your method broke my phone because once you install that version of clockwork recovery, you can't install any other version without it just blackscreening. Worse yet, that version doesn't work for regular packages either. *Many hours of trial an error just to get it back to working, still no ATT rom.

[Q] Is this how I install a ROM?

Hello people,
After finally getting a replacement dell streak i.e. 3 months of complaining. I want to flash it and I want a smooth process. So after looking around I’ve put together everything I have to do. I would like to know if what I’m doing is right. Important Notes: I am using Windows 7 64BIT… I am flashing DJ_Steve’s 1.6.1 Rom. I am currently on stock Froyo. My build number is 12821. For now baseband version is unknown (Can’t check untill I find charger). So this my plan to take list of steps-
1. Install Fastboot via-
Download Dell PC Suite and install it.
Download Fastboot.exe
Remove and replace the battery.
Power the device on while holding the camera button
It will show a screen that says ‗Touch Calibration‘ and ‗Fastboot‘. Tap fastboot.
Learn to use Fastboot on CMD
2. Root
Download SuperOneClick 1.5.5
Extract SuperOneClick on my hard drive
Put my Streak in USB debugging mode: Settings>Applications>Development>turn on USB Debugging
Plug my Streak into the computer – I will not mount the SD card
Right click on SuperOneClick.exe and run as administrator
Click "Root" and watch the progress and follow instructions.
3. Install Streakmod Recovery
Unzip and flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot with: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Hold down the keys "volume up" and "volume down" simultaneously while rebooting.
Select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" in the menu
At the Dell Logo press the power button and you will be presented with the Recovery Menu
4. Install Rom (Streak Droid 1.6.1)
Download Update-1.6.1.zip
Place Zip file into Root of SD Card
Make a text file and type in the options
Save file under SDCard>install.txt
Boot into StreakMod
Select Update from Zip File > Select Zip File From SD Card > StreakDroid_1-6.Zip
Wait for installation.
FINISH
These are steps I will take are they right?
Will I need to reroot after Rom has been installed?
Thank you for your time your help is appreachated!!
I believe that 1.61 is pre-rooted.
If you have problems getting root with SuperOneClick remove your SD Card and try it.
You don't need the entire PC Suite, just the drivers. See this page at Dell.
Thanks for response thats helped a lot also I am mainly concerned about the recovery and installing the ROM is even worth it? Also the fact I'm running 64Bit scares me (in case its not supported)!
Just saying but I think a multipurpose guide on how to install Roms needs to be made. There is already a good one but it is outdated and doesn't cover questions like- Can i update straight from stock froyo to Streakdroid 1.6.1? It the guide the same for White Streak? Does 64Bit work with Rooting/Fastboot? I would write but I don't have experience. Does any one think the same?
yes it would be nice if someone did that but it would also be nice for people to use the search function as all these topics have been covered somewhere on these forums

I took the plunge yesterday and installed the 1.6.1 version of DJ_Steve's Streakdroid rom.
It's only been 12 hours but the phone is noticeably faster and so far everything works that worked on the stock 315 and 318 builds.
All of the info you need to flash is available. Some of the threads are quite long and do get noisy with too many unrelated posts and I wish that users would click the thank you button instead of adding an unneeded post to long threads. The StreakDroid guides are very helpful.
I did a lot of reading and took notes (copy and paste to text document) about the problems others had and the solutions that worked. I was fortunate that I did not have the issues others faced.
I would recommend that you think out the options you want carefully and keep them to a minimum, do a factory reset from recovery mode before starting to upgrade, and wipe the cache from the recovery after getting StreakMod recovery installed before installing the ROM. The factory reset and cache wipe seemed to fix most of the problems people had with the install, so I did them preemptively and things went very smooth.
Thank you so much but last question is the steps above correct...
Did you try it out?
Did your steps work fine?
No have not tried waiting for someone to confirm this works....
I used zroot to root my phone and it was such an easy process. Pretty much the app did everything for me.

In step 4 when you're installing the rom you don't have to save the options file as a .txt file..
That's only as long as you're entering your options.. After you're done making the text file with your options in it you change the file to install.cfg and place it on the root of your sd card

From Streakdroid's page with the 1.6.1 install instructions:
You will need to create a text file on your Streak’s MicroSD Card.
The file can be created in your Text Editor of choice ( such as Notepad ).This file will be called ‘install.txt’ – Ensure that this is the exact syntax and that the file is saved with a ‘.txt’ suffix.

Of course later in the page it states:
You can save this text file as install.cfg

But I do think that for 1.6.1 it's install.txt. I have posted this in the 1.6.1 release thread so hopefully the instructions get clarified.
Is it better to first flash 1.5.1 with the amss, do a factory reset and then flash the 1.6.1 without amss?
I have been reading up incessantly since getting my streak a little over a week ago. I have also previously flashed my OH's HD2 (Leo) from Winmo 6.5 to froyo but that was a little simpler in its routine.
I have found a number of rather useful how-to's covering various subjects related to parts of the process and read general guides that often miss out more in-depth detail at other important points (important in my opinion).
Ultimately Android is suffering (again, IMO) from the same problem as any Linux system - details are fragmented, forum threads get bloated with making it hard to get the important info (e.g. 138+ pages to read through) or the other example was expanding the internal SD card which similarly has people making the process easy but the posts make it hard to follow unless you already have some knowledge on what is going on.
I will be making it a project to pull together a guide that provides a summary detail (for those in the know) and an in depth guide and assistance. Lastly a FAQ appendix of issues and resolutions would make it a superb thing. I will warn though, I have commitments already that absorb most of my time, so dont expect to see this guide coming out in the next week!
Hey guys if anyone is still interested the steps on first page worked brilliantly. Further more afterwards I went back to stock because after flashing the performance mod for stock the streak goes very fast anyway. If anyone wants I'll make a video showing how to do it all. And include all the files to make it as easy as possible.
But just so you know after rooting I installed steakmod then flashed the performance update. Then I used Titanium Backup to get rid of all the stock apps I don't want (dell sync, kindle...) and backup apps. Afterward downloaded setcpu and overclocked it about 200mhz. Made it even more faster. Put some custom bios (boot up pictures) on for looks. Installed Gingerbread taskbar again for looks. Installed Galaxy tab email client (because I can). Finally because my streak came with the 318 Baseband I could do a nandroid backup.
That took a little over 45 minitues but putting everything together took an hour on its own so yes it is fragmented. Stats: Baseband 318, Stock froyo and black internation version. Really now that i've done it if anyone needs help just ask... Thanks
for use streakdroid with a Rebel Sim
how i must do?
More details - baseband, 2.2, 1.6 etc
can somebody make a little guide "how to use RebelSim with streakdroid"?
what're the steps?

How to Root/Recover/Flash Soft Bricked Phone. All-In-One Guide.

I remember when I was looking for all this info I had to jump from board to board to board and
experience tons of trial and error when I was successful with my own device then wounded up
bricking my phone or someone elses based on other factors, or OCLF/CWM not working in recovery,
all that fun stuff.
So I decided to design this guide as a way for a person to make one stop at this guide, and
find everything you need with some tips I had to learn the hardway.
First while YES you can root/flash your phone from 2.2 Froyo official Samsung it is more complicated
and you risk a LOT more. I HIGHLY recommend doing a flash BACK to 2.1 update 1 to make your phone
bone stock to the way it was when you first bought it (Or if you bought it with 2.2 the way it was at launch.
Its a MUCH easier process and almost impossible for something to go wrong in the process. These
steps will help if you have also bricked your phone (Kinda bricked anyways)or its stuck in a bootloop.
Also while rooting is great to apply some Lag Fixes and such there really is no point unless
your going to flash a new ROM (or OS if you're new to this) because you probably don't use your
phone to utilize any of this stuff anyways.
Before you start please be sure to have the drivers working for your phone on your PC.
If you are running Windows 7/Vista and User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, be sure
to right click the Odin icon and select Run as Administrator.
DISCLAIMER:This is my contribution to the wonderful android community here that has given me
a wealth of information on this subject, and had it not been for these boards and others like
it I would not be able to enjoy my phone and the contributions made here by so many hardworking
people. With that said. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DAMAGING YOUR PHONE.
1.Back up everything in either Titanium backup or to PC (PC backup can only save Pictures etc.
not your message logs/call logs/account settings/etc.) A Nandroid backup should work equally as
well.
2.Shut Down phone into Download Mode so Odin can recognize phone.
-If phone is in boot loop or bricked:
-Plug USB cable into PC
-Take out battery
-Put battery back in
-Hold Vol Up + Vol Down buttons at same time
-While holding inster USB cable into phone
-Odin should now recognize device in download mode
3.Load Files into proper fields. (.TAR into TAR,.PIT into PIT)
4.Do not check any other boxes then defaults. You only want the PIT file and .TAR files for this.
5.Click Start.
6.Phone should begin flash process
NOTE: EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE AT THIS POINT WILL BE ERASED! KERNEL, BASEBAND, ROOT, ETC.
YOUR PHONE WILL BECOME COMPLETELY STOCK AS THOUGH IT WAS JUST PULLED FROM THE SHELF
IN THE UNITED STATES.
7.If process completes the phone will reboot on its own. If it gets stuck in any one process
without moving, just close the program, and repeat steps. Might take a few tries.
Once stock OS of 2.1 Update 1 is applied you can install the update.zip on the SD.
NOTE:YOU DO NOT EXTRACT THE .zip! JUST SIMPLY PLACE IT ONTO THE INTERNAL SD IN NO FOLDER.
If you're running 2.2 froyo and you were just flashed back to 2.1, then you should already have
an update.zip. Thats fine, delete the old one and replace the new one.
1.Now that the update.zip is on your phone the rest is really is. You can root your phone using
this file from your phone. Go into recovery by holding the Vol Up+Vol Down+Power button at the
same time while the phone is off. Let go once the Vibrant logo appears.
2.Select reinstall packages. Phone should reboot and you are now rooted!
If from here you want to flash a ROM over your current OS its simple.
1.When the phone reboots and you see you have SuperUse permissions you are rooted.
2.Go to the market and download ROM manager.
3.Select Install ClockWork Recovery Mod for your specific phone within the ROM manager app.
Find your ROM, Drop it into your SD the same way as the update.zip
4.Shut down your phone and boot back into Recovery Console.
5.Select Reinstall Packages again. This should Install ClockWork (CWM) OVER your recovery console.
If it doesnt take the first time just do it again, it will take you to a different color
console.
6.Once in CWM select the item using the Vol Up or Down buttons and power to select on Install
Zip from SD card.
7.Then pick Choose/Select .zip to Install.
8.Find your ROM, Select it. Select Yes to install.
9.WHAMMY your device is now installing the ROM and you have a flashed and rooted super android phone
on steroids.
Hope this helped.

So hopefully this helps out some people!
Thanks for the post man. The more ways to help the better. Mine has a ton more detail, but some may not want / need that much.

And that is EXACTLY what I was hoping to accomplish. Sadly though I didn't stumble across your thread last night when I had soft bricked my brothers phone and was doing a million google searches to find the work around on his boot loop frenzied phone (Recovery console was even corrupt).
So after what seemed like 1000 snipits from different articles I was able to mostly compile this. And then throw in some warnings for future rooters/flashers.
Had I known Samsung's own 2.2 release was going to be so AWFUL compared to 2.1 I never would have upgraded. But then again if I probably never would have flashed/rooted. haha. Oh well what can you do.

[Q] Telstra Atrix Mac OSX aRoot question Australia

I have been reading the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006368&highlight=mac+osx thread (DesignGear's aRoot script, edited to run on Mac OS X)
My phone is connecting fine in USB debugging mode. The script runs but it doesn't seem to be working quite right. There are many files failing to copy.
Here is what I get when I run the script...
Getting temporary root access...
861 KB/s (585731 bytes in 0.664s)
Mounting /system as read/write ...
Cleaning up onclickroot mess ...
Rooting your device ...
failed to copy '/Volumes/Documents/Android/aRootMac_fix/bin/su' to '/system/bin/su': Read-only file system
Installing Superuser app ...
878 KB/s (196521 bytes in 0.218s)
Installing sqlite3 ...
failed to copy '/Volumes/Documents/Android/aRootMac_fix/bin/sqlite3' to '/system/bin/sqlite3': Read-only file system
Enabling sideloading ...
Enabling tethering ...
Enabling init.d support ...

failed to copy '/Volumes/Documents/Android/aRootMac_fix/bin/00remount' to '/system/etc/init.d/00remount': No such file or directory
Rebooting ...
Press any key to continue...
Then it reboots.
Superuser is installed, but I don't know if the process is successful or not. I'm also not sure what to do next.
This is my first post here and my first attempt at rooting, though its my third android device.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Nick
Depending on the software version of your Atrix.... aRoot doesn't work anymore.
(The part that is likely to be failing is psneuter, which was fixed by motorola a few software revisions ago)
You can check by opening SuperUser.apk and click on 'check su version' and if it fails, you don't really have root.
I too, am an OS X user.
As far as I know there is no way that actually works to flash your phone from OS X.
And I don't think there is any way to root anymore without flashing. (somebody can correct me if I am wrong)
I installed windows XP on a boot camp partition and installed RSDLite and moto-fastboot and unlocked/installed alternate ROMS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 is probably where you should start.

Actually, for flashing this is not true. sbf_flash works fine.
OP, you should do a search for that. I'm on an MB Pro OS X 10.7.1. In fact, it worked where my Vista 64 bit machine + RSD lite wouldn't. I've used it several times to unlock the boot loader (IHOP_Bell.sbf). It worked flawlessly. After that, flash clockwork mod with moto-fastboot-osx64 or 32, and then you can just look for a ROM to install from cwm that is already rooted... which most of them are.
Based on the command line output, remounting the system partition for read/write failed, probably due to the "getting temporary root" step failing also. This means you don't have root because su wouldn't be copied over properly. aRoot is for 2.2.1... What version are you on?
Thank you both for you reply's.
I tried to check SU version and nothing happens, so I guess it's not rooted.
Also I checked my android version and I'm on 2.2.2 so I guess aroot's not for me.
I will try the RSD lite option next I guess..
Thanks again

Really, the RSD lite option? Why would you go to all the trouble of bootcamp and Windows when you could do it all on your current OS? Even some Windows users will tell you how frustrating it is to get RSD lite working on some machines. Works great on my netbook with Win7 Starter, but my main Win Vista 64 bit wouldn't do it no matter what.
For OS X, you just need:
sbf_flash
moto-fastboot-osx
Use the International Pudding thread as a guide to unlocking your bootloader. Once you've done that, the subject of root is almost moot because most ROMs are already rooted, you only need to install superuser.
Yeah I guess you're right I would prefer to do it on in OSX. I do already have a windows partition setup though, but I would rather not use windows if oI don't have too. It's just that in your earlier post the process sounded more complicated compared to the RSDLite option, which I have also already read a little bit about.
I have downloaded the files, but I'm not quite sure where to go from there. From what I can gather I need to unlock the bootloader first. But what do I do with the sbf_flash?
Thanks again

Okay, well first of all, you need to flash the unlockable bootloader:
1. Turn off your phone, then hold the down volume button and tap the power button. The phone will start up with a cycling menu that initially says, "fastboot".
2. Press volume down several times until it says, "rsd". This is the mode you want to be in.
3. Press volume up to select this mode.
4. Open up Terminal, cd to where your files are and type:
Code:
./sbf_flash IHOP_Bell.sbf
5. Reboot your phone and hold down the volume button again. This time you want to be in "fastboot", so when it comes up, press volume up.
6. From Terminal, type:
Code:
./moto-fastboot-osx64 oem unlock
Use the 64 bit or 32 bit version of the commands depending on your system. If you're on Lion or have a pretty new computer, it'll be the 64 bit one.
It will tell you to type in that command again, but this time along with the id they've provided. Take a look at the screenshots in the Pudding thread, they basically show this step, but in a Windows command prompt. It's the same thing.
7. Reboot your phone:
Code:
./moto-fastboot-osx64 reboot
Now you can flash clockwork mod onto the recovery partition with moto-fastboot-osx also. The ORFR 2.3.4 thread has some good examples and instructions on general flashing. The gobstopper threads also have some recovery files and instructions you could use to start off. Once you've got recovery installed, you're pretty much in the clear. You can softbrick your phone, but with recovery it's easy to get back to a working state.
Good luck!
Hey thanks Maledyris, this is great. I had some trouble finding the IHOP_Bell.sbf but I have it now.
I also found the ORFR 2.34 system and webtop images, what is the difference between these and the HKTW files, which should I use?
I'm hoping that putting Gingerbread on this phone will improve my signal strength (I read this somewhere online). If it doesn't I would like the option of returning it and getting a different phone with proper reception. How much of this can be undone? should I need to?
when I unrared IHOP_Bell.rar I got intl-fix-try1.sbf
Is that right?
Sorry this is my first time and I'm totally noob and a bit nervous.
Hey one more question, I saw another post of yours from march and it said you'd gone back to 2.2.2....what are you running now??
Cheers,
Nick

Yeah, I'm currently on stock 2.2.2. I'll have time this week, so I'll probably play around with some of the newer ROMs people have been putting out. Before this, I had to go back because of stability and battery problems

Ah, uhh... I'm not sure about the whole undoing part for you. I'm on Bell, and Bell has packages under the gobstopper threads to go between stock 2.2.2 and the alpha 2.3.4. I don't know if anyone has made the same type of thing for Telstra? Someone who's on Telstra could look at the images that were created for the Bell 2.2.2 stock cwm recovery and do the same for Telstra. I think it would depend on your carrier whether they care if you've unlocked your boot loader and changed the firmware? I've never tried to return my phone, but I bet they don't check. You never know though.
If reception and the radio is your main concern, I would probably see if I could just flash the radio instead of trying to flash full ROMs. It would be less of a noticeable change if you did decide to return it. I don't have suggestions on that though, you'd have to do a search. I don't quite remember anymore, but I think I flashed either the Orange or Telstra radio ages ago before we had an unlocked bootloader. It was fairly quick and painless. I had done it with RSD lite and win7 before I knew sbf_flash existed.

Awesome. I wasn't aware that there were OS X versions now. I flashed very early on though, and never checked again.
And if you are looking for newer ROMs, I highly recommend Ninja ROM, which is my favorite of the bunch that still retain all of the Blur applications.
... Or CM7 pre-beta 2, which breaks the camera in most apps that use it. Pre-beta 1 ruined my battery life, but beta 2 is just fine. If you go this route and still want to use the camera, Angel Camera on the market works.
Thanks again Maledyris,
I did get it from the international house of Pudding thread so it must be the right one.
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16853634#post16853634
They are talking about the motorola defy.... do you think that 2.2.2 will work with the Atrix too?
Dragula, can you give me some links for those ROM's you're talking about? I would like to use the camera still I think!!
cheers!!
ok heres the latest, my Atrix has gone in for a repair. It had some serious reception issues and after a week of arguing with telstra they're going to have a go oat repairing. it. Basically it show lower signal strength than many other phone. If you're here Aus you'll know Atrix is supposed to be "blue tick" well this one certainly wasn't.
Anyway my rooting plans are on hold till I get the phone back...
any chance of those links dragula?
Are you still around Maledyris?
I got my phone back and it's no different, so I'm ready to get started. I've read through your instructions again, and tried to find an answer elsewhere in the forum, but I'm still confused about how to flash CWM recovery the bootloader is unlocked. There seems to be so many files and I'm not sure which are ok for my telstra atrix.
I saw I can download CWM from the market, is that what I need to do next? but you said flash CWM so I'm guessing not the market...
I've downloaded recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.zip but I'm not sure exactly what to do with it??
Thanks again,
nick
Hi Nicholox;
I am in he same boat as you. I am about to get my first Android Phone (looking at the Atrix) and have been doing some serious reading about bootloaders/rooting and ROMS.
How did you unlock your bootloader?
Now to answer your question on CWM. From what I have read you can download and install ROM Manager from the App Market and then use the ROM Manager to install CWM.
I am pretty sure thats right. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Just check out these intructions from Maledyris... I'm not sure if my phone will boot up to access the market after flashing the sbf and unlocking it. anyone know the answer to this?

Why do I get a permission denied when I try to flash bell IHOP?

[request] Simple installation manual for StreakDroid for a beginner please :)

Hey!
Coming from an HD2, flashing ROMs shouldn´t be that difficult...but sadly it seems to be referring to the StreakDroid
I do know that flashing always comes with difficulties and has to be done with care...but I would be very thankful if anybody could help me out here and sum up the main steps, so I can get StreakDroid on my Streak too! I´ve read the whole thread (fards one), but I think it would be so much easier if anybody could take the time making a short tutorial how to flash the rom. It seems like the main bugs had overcomed...
Is there anybody out there who would do this for me and (I´m sure there are some/many) all the other guys who do not have the guts to start a try and error session? Would be soooo kind!!!!

Your gonna have to do some reading, it seems more complicated than it is.
I will give you hints, but no links.
Download and install Dell Streak drivers and PC Suite from Dell, look on the wiki here and find the fastboot drivers and exe and install those drivers.
Copy fastboot.exe to C:\ of your pc.
Next read about Streakmod and download the latest version, extract recovery.img and place it in c:\ on your pc.
Now flash recovery.img to the Streak using fastboot.
Now you can download StreakDroid 1.9.1, rename update.zip and place in the \ directory of your phones storage.
Now follow streakmod recovery procedure, turn on phone holding down volume up and down together, now you have a menu to do many things including update your phones firmware.

You should contact TheManii. He is collecting/archiving all of the Streak builds he can find and as you write - I do not see BB 357 in the wiki.
Where did you get your phone? Did you buy it new or used? Is it locked to a carrier?

I contacted him long ago but no reply. Maybe he is offline.
I bought my cell phone from India. we don't have carriers here.
it's a brand new phone and full unlocked with a price tag of 25k ( indian currency )
PM sent, keep in mind time zone differences. It was sent at 6am for me.
Bascially make a nandroid dump and send it to me
OP: Search for "MultiFlasher" thread, download files, read instructions and flash away. Even I got it done successfully. The fastboot driver is already included.
The main thing is you MUST have your phone's driver installed. This is the driver from Dell.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
