[Q] I e-mailed HTC about Windows 7 and the HTC Leo and got this ... - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So thought I would show you all their answer
Dear Tom.Hazell,
Hi,
Unfortunately, at this time HTC and Microsoft do not have plans to offer Windows Phone 7 upgrades to any existing HTC phones. HTC is working closely with Microsoft to bring Windows Phone 7 to market later this year.
Thank you for contacting HTC
Best regards
Luke

Want to see what others are saying? Have a question to ask other HTC fans?

This has been known for a long time now.

I keep seeing different answer all over the place so thought I would actually e-mail them.

Their official stance has always been "No" since that post came out. It's only a matter of time til it's ported over like Android was. If you search you can find the post where someone shows WP7 booting to an HD2 already. I think the guys name is Cotulla?

Im surprised you even got a reply.......

HTC not planning a WM6 Upgrade

HTC not planning a WM6 Upgrade for Current Devices?
By JNGold, posted Wednesday, Feb. 14th, 2007
XDA Developer forum member swartb received an email regarding a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for his current HTC P3600. Basically, HTC responded with a reply that no upgrade path would be offered for current devices, leaving only newly released devices getting some WM6 love.
This is in stark contrast to what other OEM's (and even mobile carriers) have initially stated regarding upgrading existing devices.
Anybody remember what Gerald Ford told NYC back in the 70's that made the front page of the newspapers? Kind of the same thing here.
Bad news indeed if this comes to pass

We won't know what happens until it happens, but there are others who say there will be "some" upgrades...

these are meant to be released on herm devices.

Android OS updates

What is the likelihood of HTC pushing out an updated image for the Hero when Android 2.0 comes along? I asked one of their customer services guys, and didn't get an answer, he just said he didn't know.
Was just about to ask this myself! I asked the same question to HTC customer services...same reply.
What is their track record in these matters?

[Q] Has the HTC update caused some Windows Phones to go 16 bit?

i m gonna buy a 7 Mozart soon but just got a news that the NoDo update decreases image quality to 16 bits of some HTC handsets.
so if anyone over here has experienced such strange problem of color banding plzz post it here because i want this phone so bad..
or you could just read the thread that already exists and is on the front page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924486
i've seen lots of people repost on here over the years - too lazy to use the search button etc - but not even reading the first half of the front page takes some beating.
sorry but didn't see it before..
i already read that whole thread after posting this one..
i usually do search but this time i was so confused that i directly went to create a new thread..
also would u suggest me to buy a Mozart or a HD7 as a better wp7 phone..??
No HTc update for now. Mozart Philippines.
I wonder what locations did HTC deliver the updates?

[Q] Windows Phone 7 [Mango] ROM for Galaxy SII

Hello,
Some of you, or many, might have or might have not looked for a Windows Phone 7 Mango ROM for the Samsung Galaxy SII. I know I have.
However, to no avail, Google had failed me in my searches, and I couldn't find any, or maybe I've just failed. Also, I had a look around the forum, and again, there was no such luck. My guess ? Probably because there are none.
If that is the case, and developer working on such a ROM for the Galaxy SII ?Or, even, is there one already that is hiding from me, and from many others for that matter ?
never gonna happen, as its Closed source
Your post does beg a few questions...
Why not just go for a windows phone itself than such a ROM?
i am honestly refraining from saying something rude here...
If you are looking for a look and feel then here's some post on a theme

Please bear in mind that smartphones so far are more near to apple desktop/laptops than PC...
they can run OS from only one platform....
Not going to happen unless samsung put out a windows phone with similar hardware to the sgs2, and as wp7 has a very limited hardware spec which doesn't include the soc used in the sgs2 I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I usually express the same when people buy an Apple and would like to install Windows on it. Why not just get a laptop from the beginning ?
Anyhow, that's not the point. I've had my share of Windows phones [mobiles]. I first used a Windows Mobile 6.1 pro on my Samsung Omnia back in 2008. But, I didn't remain loyal to it. I am happy with my Android.
The point, is, or was, such as the HTC HD2, that is shipped with Windows Mobile 6.5, and can run Android, and also Windows Phone 7 [Mago too], thought maybe it could happen with the Galaxy SII.
It is not, however, going for a Windows Phone, but, it'd be nice trying it out without buying one. Not just the look and feel, sir.

That's because the HD2 has the same specs as the Desire HD (android) and HD7 (WP7)...

And microsoft were testing wp7 on hd2. In sure that's where the first rom came from. And that's why no other phones have had wp7 ports.

Hello guys don,t be dihearted on radar

HI THERE ALL PEOPLES ARE TALKING ABOUT HTC RADAR THAT THEY ARE NOT GOOD.
IT IS WRONG ALL THE WAY,B/C I HAVE MY RADAR LOADED WITH ALL THE LATEST GAME AND APPS ARE RUNNING WELL AFTER I HAVE UNLOCKED IT WITH DFT ROM. IT IS ROCKING. LOOK AT THE THREAD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685271
Radar is good, but HTC don't. They don't support windows phone like nokia did. even we, as owner, have to pay for tur-by-turn voice guided navigation while nokia give it for free to their customer
