[ROM][WWE] B7610 WM 6.5.3 Build 28244.5.3.10 Lite - Omnia II ROM Development

Build a new english lite rom with xip/sys ported from 28244 build.
German version same build here
ROM Details:
WM6.5.3 Build 28244.5.3.10
removed sys: widgets, themes, skybox, skymarket, autoupdate, sample music, alarm sounds, entertainment, sqlcemobile, transcriber, windows live, welcome center
removed Samsung apps: all except camera, settings, xt9, dialer, sms-mms
added samsung app: GPRS Counter
added tools: UC_NET, xTask, PIMBackup, Regedit, BT- and Wifi Toggler, Advanced Config 3.3, Dotfred Task manager, Mortscript, Omnia2 Messaging Mgr,
added tweaks: pageppol value is 10 mb, new battery (with percentage) and net icons, AutoClose Patch 1.1, Fileexplorer Extension, HTC Sensor DLL, WM6.1 GPS Driver, Start Menu has 4 grids
registry changes: old settings enabled, Low Mem value, auto lock screen disabled, dialer skin disabled, rotation mapable to hardware key, in call recording, ring delay, smaller popup font size
Remarks:
- Common:
cabs of my thread could be installed
I have not cooked in some of my default tools, like cleanRAM, Opera or Google Maps, cause everyone could install the newest version himself, if he wants to, and so the space isn't used in the rom for those people, that don't want to install them or want to install them to storage card or my storage.
pagepool value: higher, than in my former roms to allow applications like s2u to work properly, low enough to give you the maximum amount of memory
- UC_NET:
With UC_NET you can automatically install all your favourite cabs silently and/or controlled.
Thx to Daskalos for finding this great XDA Dev Application
Create XDA_UC folder on your storage card.
Put your cabs (or .reg, .mscr, .cer files) in XDA_UC, if you want them installed silently
Put your cabs in XDA_UC\manual, if you want to install them with normal dialogue
Put your files in XDA_UC\Copy2Root, which should be copied to the root of your device
Put your self-extracting archives in XDA_UC\Run
Put your self-extracting archives in XDA_UC_Execute if UC_NET should go on while extracting
In Start Menu\Programs\Utilities you can then start your customizing with the UC_NET shortcut. It will default to the folder Storage Card\XDA_UC, but you can choose other folders, too.
Free data memory is: about 290 MB
Free program memory is: about 85 MB with dialer skin disabled
Uploaded fixed version (Mirror) for issues with hardware keyboard
Benchmarks of the new kernel on different devices (HD2, Topaz) has shown it as very fast compared to 22047, 23144, 23145, 23146 or 21682. Look here for a sample on HD2
jensingenbleek is making a benchmark on B7610, too.
Some user reports:
ajeshm: Flashed with this ROM. Working flawlessly with Manila 2.5 Sense 2019 installed. With programs like HTC Phone Canvas, S2U2 loaded after 30 minutes 45mb Free RAM.

reserved for screenshots

thanks man, is there any backup and restore procedure in case something goes wrong ?

for your personal info use pimbackup.
if flash goes wrong you can always revert to an other rom, so far as you only flash nb0 part.
No danger of brick your phone then.

Extended ROM optimized for O2 germany, the ultimate edition

Hi all
I spend some time to optimize the cab-files in the extended rom.
I got rid of many bigger unnessesary files containing commercials and unneeded information. Some more
space could be saved by merging the registry - updaters into one file, here I also added the registry entries
to make the extended rom visible and to activate ClearType by default. Some install-directories for the links
have been updates to not overload "Programs" by default. The Homezone application is installed but will
not be added to the autostart folder. The CESetup.dll in the older cab files has been updated.
IACallerID is NOT installed, this app is so useless and consuming...
but thats my opinion.
The extended rom posted here contains some more application, from which I think, that they are rather a must.
This includes:
Bluetooth - Patch
PocketMVP 9 Which now supports the ATI graphic accelerator ( awesome performance... )
WakeupTweak
CheckNotificatiions
RegEditor
A file en-/ decryption tool to add some security
The "standard" files are the latest found in the t-mobile update, merged with the O2 customizition stuff.
The config.txt is up to date, but be aware the PocketMVP asks for a reset,
which must not be allowed.
The space left in the ext-rom is exactly enought for TOMTOM Navigator... but that's a different story...
My extended-rom displays 0.00MB left ;-)
I did not provide a .nbf file, if you need one please use the famouse ER2003edit.

Languages Switch:
NOW YOU CAN USE THIS ROM IN ALL LANGUAGES YOU WANT, ONLY MAKING A LANGUAGES PACK FOR IT!!!!
How to make a language pack?
- Open a rom that have the language you want. Please use a structurated rom to get simplier your work.
- in the sys, copy all contents in the language folders (for italian, 0410, copy all the folders that have in the name "0410") in a folder and rename the .rgu in .reg.
- Then you need the name of the folders, you can get it into the initflashfiles.dat. Create a dirs.txt and put for each line the folders (or files) to rename. Example:
Code:
\Windows\Fonts;\windows\Caratteri
\windows\Programs;\Windows\Programmi
\Windows\Startup;\Windows\Esecuzione Automatica
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games;\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Giochi
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs;\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi
\Windows\Start Menu\Settings;\Windows\Start Menu\Impostazioni
\Windows\Start Menu\Phone.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Telefono.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Messaging.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Messaggi.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Contacts.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Contatti.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Calendar.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Calendario.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Calculator.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Calcolatrice.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Internet Sharing.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Condivisione Internet.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Notes.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Note.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Pictures & Videos.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Foto & Video.lnk
\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Search.lnk;\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Cerca.lnk
in this example, \Windows\Fonts folder will be renamed in "Caratteri".
- ok, done. Now you have to get applications mui. You can get a list of muis in my language pack english to italian.
- When done, copy this folder in \Microdrive\Language_pack.
- Now you can find the name of the folder in the languages switch program. Just select it and go.
At the end you'll have a folder like this:
And a device in your language...

Wow!
Slurp! Would like to test it immediatly....
Micyprima,
I notice your total storage is 143 but my total storage is 123 (am using Irus Ultra Vanilla). Do you know why I am missing 20 MBs storage? Can I do something to regain them?
Thanks,
you use spl 3.5 i think...spl 3.5 reduce available space for storage...and add space for rom.
hi
I use ROM version without subdisplay.dll, can send cab? or instruction as an opportunity to add subdisplay worked.
venzoja at gmail dot com
Thanks in advance
Hi michy,
I hope that this your new rom of it you will realize also an Italian version.
michy, i notice in your screenshots your using radio 1.57 and state this not based off sogarths.
what i wanna know is...
a. does this work fine off radio 1.58?
b.if so does hsupa work (constant H at all times)?
c.if im using 3.5 spl should i downgrade to get the extra 20mb o i can use it some other way?
this more like a suggestion, is it possible to get a working broadcomm bluetooth stack in our roms?

Honestly? For all ROMs that are created for both SPL 1.2 and SPL 3.5, yes. Downgrade. There's no point having SPL 3.5 if you're not taking advantage of the extra space.

I agree.
I look at this this way:
Why give up 20MB of user memory for no reason? With SPL1.2 you have 20MB more memory. Unfortunately, after the downgrade, you won't get back all the 20 MB. I think about 3MB is gone for good.
I think the changing from SPL3.5 to spl1.2 is actually an upgrade, not downgrade. It upgrades the user memory up by about 17MB.
The change from spl1.2 to spl3.5 is a downgrade of user memory but upgrade of ROM memory space. The change from spl3.5 back to spl1.2 is an upgrade of user memory by giving back from the ROM memory space.

This is true as long as you are trying to use an SPL 1.2/SPL 3.5 ROM. If you have a "real" SPL 3.5 ROM, then this argument becomes less true.
The thing is, there are definite advantages to having things pre-loaded in ROM. Mind you, there are some disadvantages that come with it as well, but if you're already on SPL 3.5, why not take advantage of what it gives you? I'll probably end up making a post when I finish with my own personal ROM, but I have a hell of a lot of things in here - so much so that I'm surprised how much I can fit. And it's rather nice, actually.
But if you're not doing that? If you believe in a minimalist, "clean" ROM? SPL 3.5 is totally not for you.
As a side point, by the way: just because you have a packed-to-the-gills ROM doesn't mean that it's slow. The slowness tends to come from things like services, drivers, continually running programs. If the files in the ROM are from load/unload applications, then that won't have an impact on the device speed (unless you really want to start getting picky about the number of files in \Windows).

But if you have tons of stuff in the windows directory, then when you use file manager on that directory, won't you take much longer time for it to respond back? What about backup and restore too? Having things we never use will slow these down too, won't it? Finally, once you have packed in lots of application into the ROM, the installation of them will still invade into your program memory, leaving you with less memory for the stuff that you really want to run, right? For applications that gets update regularly, I hate to see two versions of them in my device - a problem if they are built into the ROM.

Yes. Fairly small case (since you don't normally use a file manager there), but that's true.

As long as you have a semi-intelligent backup application, no. Files in ROM are marked as being in ROM. You use Resco Explorer - take a look at the properties of a ROM file in \Windows, like \Windows\aac_reader.dll. You'll notice that there's a ROM checkbox that's ticked on.

Finally, once you have packed in lots of application into the ROM, the installation of them will still invade into your program memory, leaving you with less memory for the stuff that you really want to run, right?

Nope. Applications that aren't running don't take up any program memory at all. Program memory is RAM. What we're talking about here is ROM. ROM is used by the operating system ROM (all these things we keep flashing on our devices) and by storage.

I'm using sprite backup. There is no such intelligence in that I'm afraid. Under windows, all dll are there, whether it was from the ROM or installed by me - all mixed up. It would be a challenge to sort out which came from ROM and to uncheck them individually.

No need. I have Sprite Backup. It's smart enough not to back up any file in ROM (modified files don't count, because then you have a copy in storage as well).

My backup time for Irus's Sogarth Vanilla is just about 2.5 minutes. For the non-vanilla, it is at least double. How come the difference then? The size of the backup file is also much smaller in the case of his ROM.
Bluetooth Stack
Hi Michy,
I've tested your 1.60F ROM which I must admit is great!
The first usable rom I tested iimho.
The only thing didn't respond was
'Cannot inizialize the GPS server' with geocaching option active on the camera, while on wm6.0 roms was ok.
Is your 1.79.2F based on the same bluetooth stack of the 1.60F or is it a new one?
Do the geocaching option with the camera work on your new release?

If you are reading this post Da_G, thnx for sharing the kitchen
My rom has a few minor flaws, this is because my noledge of cooking is not that big at this moment but I will learn how to, (possible with help of more experienced cook's) soon.
Ok, but what's in it. . . .

good to see another chef in the kitchen
Welcome to the chef team, Nemesco Don't heshitate to PM any of us for tips or help
Hi Nemesco. Good on you for jumping into the kitchen!
How are you adding TomTom and Teeter into your ROM - are they included as cabs that run during the first boot, set up as separate OEM packages or included in the main bulk of the kitchen? Depending what the answer is depends on how we're going to sort it out.
If it's a cab, then we're going to have to edit the Shortcuts within the tab (using WinCE cab manager). Stick the cabs on Rapidshare and drop me the link and I'll change them for you.
If they're installed as separate OEM packages, then we'll need to amend the Initflashes.dat file within that OEM (probably). Again, I'm happy helping with that if you want.
If they're included in the main bulk of the kitchen, then it'll probably still be a Initflashes file that needs amending, but it could be harder to find it. Hopefully it'll be one of the last two options.
Good luck mate, and I'm happy to help if I can.
Thnx for your reply's and your offers to help a beginning chef.
@ NRGZ28, I'd send you a PM.
@ Confused Stu, Thnx, I managed to change the initflashfiles.txt with pathinfo.
Anybody installed the rom and have feedback?

Sumit Bhardwaj's WM 6.5.3 build 23148 JE2+O2 JD1 Full+Extras ROM

Hi guys,
This is another full WM 6.5.3 JE2 23148 ROM, this time with improved, new versions of Samsung applications. Let me know your thoughts about it. Its again a plain, vanilla 6.5.3 ROM so I don't think screen shots are necessary.
Link : Download from Megaupload.com
Here is what is in the ROM :
- Windows Mobile 6.5, CE OS 5.2.23148 (Build 23145.5.3.11), with Start button at bottom.
- Full JE2 + Omnia 2 JD1 combination ROM with Optimized CSC (1.86 MB only, will work with other ROMs too, though not all maybe), LZX Compression and 12 MB Pagepool for optimum performance.
- Apart from Samsung Widgets, Samsung Today, Dialer, Keyboard and USSD popup executables, all the other samsung apps that had problem with 6.5.x positioning have also been taken from Omnia 2 JD1 rom and are working absolutely great. Touch Player is specially very good with its improved library. So overall this ROM wont feel unpolished like previous one.
- Phone Memory : Approx 143 MB, RAM: About 70 MB on start
- Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool (Highly versatile tweaking utility)
- DotFred's Task Manage 3.3 for WM 6.5 (Highly useful and detailed task manager for power users)
- GPRS Counter application from JE2 ROM (Useful for keeping track of GPRS data usage for limited GPRS plan users. Can show stats in chart as well as report format)
- Midomi Application from Omnia II (Music information recognition software)
- MortScript 4.2 (A very popular scripting runtime for Windows Mobile)
- OpenNETSDF v2.3.0.21 (A framework that complements .NET CF, needed to run many modern .NET based apps).
- SQL Server CE 3.1 (Although SQL Server is always there on Windows mobile in background, this version supports a GUI tool, Query Analyzer, using which you can run SQL commands on your phone )
- XDA Shutdown v1.01 with Black Theme (Shutdown, Restart, Sleep or Hibernate your mobile with ease.)
- AutoClose Patch 1.1 (Enhances the way memory allocation/deallocation happens on Omnia, useful for keeping phone running for long time without restart)
- Bluetooth Toggle Application (One touch toggling of bluetooth)
- MADE Text Editor (A simple text editor that supports both ANSI and Unicode text formats)
- PPC PIM Backup (Great Personal Information (contacts, messages, calender, task etc) backup utility)
- Pocket RAR (Archiving utility supporting RAR and ZIP formats)
- Simple Regedit (A powerful registry editor, despite the word simple in its name )
- HTCSensorSDK.dll and LibGLES_CM.dll (Needed for accelerometer and OpenGLES v1 support in games and manilla kind of apps)
- Microsoft Voice Commands (from WM 6.5.5 last build, the latest version available. Recognizes Asian accents quiet well, including Indian english )
- Latest MyPhone application, No need to install afterwards.
- UTDrv TTF driver for fixing Bold Fonts issue with the new Font Engine of 231xx builds. For more information, search on XDA.
- Bubble Breaker game added from COM2. WM 6.5.3 no longer comes with it.
- Tweaks
----Orientation Settings Enabled
----Titanium Enabled by Default
----JBlend Font Size fix
----WinMO default Settings icon enabled
----Disabled lines between tradional today plugins
----Enabled Lockscreen Picker in Settings>Lockscreen
----Disabled Samsung Large Titlebar for enabling Windows default large icon title bar dropdown
----Enabled Samsung Launcher (that shows up automatically when keyboard is slided) by default)
----Other Misc performance tweaks.
Please note that as with my previous roms, this was for also my personal use, so everything is according to my preferences. If you feel your preferences are same, use it else ignore it. Consider this a disclaimer
Cheers!
PS: Its a self extracting executable, just run the exe, extract the files at some path on your hard drive and you will get the nb0 (PDA) and CSC file for flashing.
Can you tell us if this is for i8000 or other Omnia 2 model?
Dear Sumit,
Stupid as I may sound but though have been using and abusing winmo since 2008(HTC Diamond and Touch Pro & Now Samsung B7610) have never attempted flashing custom ROMs aprt for updates provided by HTC for both the devices mentioned here. As my phone is now out of warranty and Samsung have NOT obliged with the promised update of 6.5 for B7610 in India( I am at Jaipur by the way); wud like very much to upgrade my device. Request you to kindly guide me ona step by step guide on flashing this as I am a complete novice. I may call /mail u if convenient for the same. Would be a great help.
Darkyogi...
Can u post Some Screenies ??
Tried to flash my GT-I8000 with your NB0 & CSC, but, after rebooting, the screen halted on the SAMSUNG logo and nothing happened afterwords. Flashing again with another ROM to put the phone in LIVE state. Did you ever test it on an O2 buddy?

Quey
Hi i have installed JC2 ROM on my B7610 then on the top of it i am using daskalos 23144 ROM....
Can i use your ROM on top of it, if yes what benefit i will be getting.
Wm 6.5.3 29017
This rom is a FULL rom, which means, it is like your jc2 rom but with newer kernel, some extra apps, some registry tweaks and some parts removed like the games
ULTRA version GER available
do you have any screenshot ?
thanks
edit:
i have installed the rom and its working good
thanks
you're welcome. Check also modaco for updates
The ULTRA WWE is the best ROM out of 4 I have tested so far, and it would be a keeper, but there is one [_GIANT_] problem... Something is seriously wrong with fonts. For example,
1. if You dial *#9911# on the dialpad, You get something that looks like Wingdings font, but not the nice English battery SOC screen,
2. if You open Schaps Advanced Config -> Locations, all the path backslashes are showing as ₩,
3. if You open UC_Net and it warns about registry security setting, all the path backslashes are showing as ₩,
4. also, if You open Settings -> System -> Lock, the font on top is too "fat" and kinda unreadable. It's hard to explain, take a look Yourself, but in fact this applies to all the Samsung settings windows. I mean if You are planning a fixed version - I really hope You are...
Using B7610NXEEJC2 as CSC and none of the other ROMs (also Your 29007 version) have this problem.
I just realized it could be a simple "fonts missing" problem, could You take a quick look at it and maybe provide the missing fonts?
you found the solution yourself at modaco forum ;-)
I've some problems:
Generally speaking this Ultra rom is very fast and with a lot of memory free, no problems with wi-fi and gps (tomtom, route66, copilot, sygic, iGO), so it's very good because reading forum many users have wifi and gps problems, but:
1) Camera's photos quality is bad (compared to 6.5 official)... is there some better driver to install?
2) How to set physical keyboard backlight timeout (advanced config tool has no effect)?
Please help... solving these two problems would be the perfect rom for me
